How to connect a webcam to a TV

- To start the device, you need to install the driver. This can be done using a PC.
- Connect the TV to the computer with a special cable or adapter. Install an extension in the settings that assumes the use of the screen as a monitor.
- Start the driver installation process, the CD with the program is included with the device. Next, you should set the parameters that are necessary for the correct operation of the device. This is done in the appropriate section. it can be found on the control panel.
- Location is determined based on the personal interests of the user. If necessary, you can extend the supplied cable with a USB extension cable. you need to purchase it separately.
How to connect a webcam to a TV
The purposes of connecting a webcam to a TV are different. For example, you can use it as a kind of surveillance system. by setting up a separate channel to view what is happening indoors or outdoors. It can also be used for voice control of TV functions or for making calls.
Features of webcams for Smart TV
A device such as a webcam is currently presented in various modifications. To make the choice, you need to take into account the purpose of the application and the type of TV to which it is planned to connect.
Cameras for Smart TVs have a number of features. To use them, connect the devices to each other using a USB cable and open any program that can easily turn on the camera. It can be Skype, Viber and others that allow you to make calls. These actions contribute to the automatic configuration of the device.
The manufacturers of these devices took into account the peculiarities of their use, which influenced the design and equIPment. The main ones are:
- Room dimensions;
- Lighting;
- Extraneous noise.

Cameras are equIPped with multIPle microphones to ensure high-quality sound, even under unwanted external influences. Image quality is high, even in low light levels.
The ability to connect a webcam to a TV allows users to more comfortably use the functions of modern gadgets. After all, the screen of a television device is much larger than that of a smartphone or PC. Therefore, it is an excellent solution for making calls conveniently and enjoying image quality.
Installing Ivideon Server
You can download Ivideon Server on the Ivideon website in the Downloads section, the case in the Changelog subsection contains information about the updates that are included in this or that version of Ivideon Server.
Ivideon Server is installed on computers with Win / Mac / Linux.
Connecting webcams
Webcam surveillance is suitable for home use, and connection and adjustment does not take long:
- Connect the camera to the USB port of your computer with Ivideon Server;
- Download the driver for your webcam from the manufacturer’s official website. We recommend using the driver provided by the device manufacturer, the driver from the operating system may not work correctly.
- Start Ivideon Server. If the program is already running, then restart it: click Exit and open again.
- Click Run.
- The webcam will automatically appear in the Ivideon Server camera list.
Stream from webcams comes in raw form and requires re-encoding. This process seriously loads the computer’s central processor.
It is possible to reduce the load by changing the recording settings for webcams:
- Open Ivideon Server and click Stop;
- Open Settings;
- Go to the Advanced tab;
- Change the format from H.264 to MPEG-4. The MPEG-4 compression standard is less processor intensive;
- If changing the format is not enough, try lowering the resolution, bit rate, and / or frame rate;
- Click OK to save changes.
IP camera does not work in Ivideon Server
If you see in the list of cameras that cameras connected via Ivideon Server do not work and are marked in red, although the server itself is working and is marked in green, it means that Ivideon Server cannot connect to the camera.
First of all, check:
1. Is the camera receiving power
- Make sure the power adapter is firmly plugged into the power outlet and into the camera connector;
- The indication on the camera should be on or the IR sensor should respond to low illumination. To check the sensor, close it with your hands and if there was a click, then the IR illumination turned on.
2.Connecting to the Internet
- Make sure that the network cable is firmly plugged into the connectors of the camera and the network device, and the network device (switch or router) to which the camera is connected are working properly;
- Make sure that the indication of an active connection with the camera is lit on the router or switch. If your router or switch has indicators, go to the device’s web interface. You can find out how to do this on the manufacturer’s website;
- If the indicators on the router or switch are off, check the integrity of the network cable (bends, kinks, cracks).
If you have NOT changed the camera settings and by the last moment it was working properly, then most likely the IP address of the camera has changed. Each time after turning it on, the camera tries to automatically obtain an IP address from your router via dhcp, so turning off the power and replacing the network equIPment may have changed the IP address.
Ivideon Server cannot automatically find a camera with a new IP address, so you need to start a device search in Ivideon Server by selecting Search for devices in the Add device section:
It is not necessary to reconnect (add) the camera to the account.
In the Add device section, find and copy the IP addresses of the camera, then paste it into the settings of the already connected camera.
My camera is listed
If you DO NOT find your camera manufacturer in Ivideon Server, try adding a camera in one of the following ways:
- ONVIF protocol
- RTSP protocol
- Make sure your camera model supports RTSP or Onvif protocols. Information about the supported protocols and the RTSP link to the stream can be found in the instructions for the device or will invite you to the manufacturer.
- You can check the functionality of the RTSP link in the VLC player (https://www.Videolan.org/vlc/index.Ru.html).
Onvif protocol is versatile in surveillance and is supported by many camera manufacturers.
We recommend using the Onvif connection, as Onvif reduces the CPU load on the Ivideon Server PC and makes it possible to connect more cameras.
- Start Ivideon Server.
- Click Add Device.

Connecting multIPle webcams
It is possible, but remember that using two or more webcams on a computer with Ivideon Server may lead to unstable operation of Ivideon Server and the computer itself.
This is due to the fact that the stream from webcams comes in raw form and requires transcoding. This process puts a heavy load on the computer’s central processing unit. If you need to connect several cameras to one server, it is recommended to use IP cameras.
