Mikrotik settings reset: reset the password in a general way

Hi! Another article will not be in places not easy for such a basic operation. Let’s talk about resetting to the factory settings of Mikrotik routers. Why so much noise from the threshold? Please read at least the first section for general education. Practic lovers immediately look for your model.

If you have a question or addition, write in the Комментарии и мнения владельцев. In addition, Mikrotik devices are rich in different ways of reset-if you have something especially, which is not in this article, I also ask you to write!

Introduction. you can skip

The idea of such a large article is that Mikrotik routers, although they are released for a wide audience, but their functionality is slightly higher than the average. A simple layman may not understand some points. Here the integration is not for housewives, and the setting can be done through the program, and the discharge with a screwdriver. in short, such megays for admin on vacation.

Mikrotik reset here can also be performed in standard ways, but they are a little more complicated:

  • Through the settings. it will not be so easy to find, but to enter and even more so. But we will try.
  • Through the button. let’s see that the buttons here are also not standard.
  • Through the closure. we do not apply this to other models at all, but here everything is possible.

About this plan and let’s go. So if you have already planned to drop it for sure, maybe something stopped working, forgot your password, they wanted to set it up again or just have fun-let’s already do it!

Hardware reset of settings

It all depends on the pattern of the router, there are three options:

The Reset button is present

mikrotik, reset, connection

To get started, turn off the power, clamp the reset and turn on the power. Let go through:

  • 3 seconds (before ACT blinking). loading from a spare bottle. Helps if there is a failure to update the system or Firmware.
  • 5 seconds (ACT blinking). resetting settings.
  • 10 seconds (ACT stops blinking). Search for Capsman controller.
  • 15 seconds (ACT is not burning). Search for NetinStall server.

Wiki claim that all devices are equipped with a similar site. For the sake of interest, he opened the RB491-2nd and did not find that.

Reset technology: turn off the power, close the site (the biper emits a wheezing squeak) and do not let go until completely loading.

Reset technology: turn off the power, close the jumper, wait for the full load, remove the jumper.

Protected Routerboot

There may be a situation when, after resetting someone else’s (otherwise you would know) the router, he will not be loaded beyond the “first peak”. this is a new Fitch from Mikrotik, which is wiping the entire flash memory (including routeros), you will need NetinStall to restore.

Routerboot. the initial bootloader on Mikrotik devices, you can interact with it through the Serial Inte Weep and one of the purpose of Protected Routerboot not allow to interfere in the download process.

You can see the current versions in [System] → [Routerboard]. The [Upgrade] button is updated by the Current bootloader. If the system works poorly and is loaded only with a backup (as written in a section above), then in [settings] you can clearly specify the recovery bootloader as a constant, Auto Upgrade option to update the Current bootloader along with Routeros. And since we are here. the Silent Boot option turns off the sounds during boot.

WAP AC Mikrotik reset to CAP

Reset can be carried out in several ways:

  • Disconnect the power of the router;
  • Press and hold the Reset button;
  • Turn on the power of the router;
  • Wait for the ACT indicator blinking and release the Reset button.
  • Disconnect the power of the router,
  • Close the contact platform with a metal screwdriver and hold the closed,
  • Turn on the power of the network device,
  • Wait until the ACT LED indicator does not start blinking (a few seconds),
  • Remove the contact platform to clean the configuration.
  • Disconnect the power of the router;
  • Close jumper with a metal jumper;
  • Turn on the power of the router;
  • Wait for the configuration to reset and remove the jumper.

To reset passwords and settings of the Routeros operating system installed on the X86 computer, it is necessary to load from the installation disk from Routeros. When a window with the choice of packages appears, press I and answer n to the question do you want to keep old configuration? Confirm the reset by pressing Y.

Select the Quick Set menu (this field is open by default). On the right in the System field click the “Reset Configuration” button.

Keep-Users: Do not delete users and their passwords; No-defaults: Do not upload the configuration by defending, to reset all the settings; Skip-Backup: Do not automatically backup configuration before reset; RUN-AFTER-RESET: Indicate the name of the Export file, which will be completed after resetting the settings.

How to configure Mikrotik cAP AC Dual Band WI-FI Router

To work the latest function in the router, a folder with the name “Flash” should be created, the Export file should be stored in this folder.

You can connect to the Mikrotik routers using various services (SSH, Telnet). With their help, you can also easily reset Mikrotik settings, just enter the System Reset-Configuration command and press Enter, when confirming confirmation of reset, press Y. In the same method, you can drop by connecting through the console by COM-Com, RJ-45-Com cable (depending on the model) and using, for example, Hyperterminal, to connect.

Netinstall is used to reinstall Routeros when it is damaged, incorrectly installed or unknown password for access. 1) Download Netinstall from the official website http: // www.Mikrotik.COM/Download; 2) Write a static IP address to the computer, for example; 3) Connect Ethernet with a cable router via ETH1 port with a computer using a switch or directly. 4) Launch the Netinstall application. Press the Net Booting button, put a box of Boot Server Enabled and enter the IP address from the same subnet where the computer is located, for example, his Netinstall will temporarily appoint a router. Any firewall/firewall on the computer should be disconnected. 5) When the power is turned off the RESET button, when you keep it on the power supply and continuing to keep it on, wait about half a minute until a new device appears in the NetinStall program in the list of devices. 6) In Packages, press the Browse button and specify the directory with the firmware. In the list of devices (Routers/Drives), select the router, in the bottom in the list, put a checkmark on the firmware that you need to download in the router and press the Install button. The firmware is customized to the router and the status will write Waiting for Reboot, after which the Reboot button will be instead of the Install button, and it is necessary to click it. The router will load with a new firmware. If there are any problems with the loading of the router, you can try to drop it on standard settings by holding the Reset button, or if there is a display, select the Restore Settings and enter the standard PIN-code 1234. Or restore through NetinStall with a shot “Keep Old Configuration” and indicating below your “configure script”.

As a conclusion, it is worth saying that after resetting the settings, if no-defaults tick was pressed, our router will load with this window:

Description of this script for each model can be found in wiki.Mikrotik. By pressing the Remove Configuration key, we will delete all the settings of this script, leaving a “naked” router. Show Script key shows directly the script itself, which was applied. OK key saves the changes made by this script.

Netinstall MikroTik wAP ac RBwAPG-5HacT2HnD. hardreset/factory-reset.

It is also worth saying if the firmware of the router was installed via Netinstall and the script indicated as the initial configuration was assigned, the reset team performs this script after the settings cutter. To replace it, you will have to re.fill the firmware through NetinStall, not noting your initial configuration scenario.

The first HAP AC Lite in the role of Capsman V2 and Wi-Fi Ap

In Ros 6.44 and older corrected the described problem below:

During the settings, disconnect all Firewall rules on Mikrotik with Capsman!

Due to the incorrect configuring Firewall (Input chain), there may be problems connecting the local CAP to Capsman.

Configure Capsman, check that everything works, and then correctly configure Firewall.

The problem appears if you have a rule for prohibiting (DROP) all incoming traffic (input chain). Even if you have an incoming traffic from a local network, this is not enough.

If you have a local CAP (which is located on Capsman itself) is not connected to Capsman, but is connected when firewall is turned off, then you can make the above recommendations using the IP address Loopback.

Bridge setup

Create a Bridge, add intenses to it (all except Wi-Fi) and assign the IP address. Wi-Fi Inte Wees will be added to the right bridge.

I will not focus on this, everything is standard.

During the configuration of the Bridge and adding ports to it, WinBox may fall off. Just reconnect.

Do not add to Bridge Wi-Fi Intections. Capsman, depending on the Local Forwarding settings in Datapath, will add or not Wi-Fi Intections in Bridge itself.

If you manually add Wi-Fi to Bridge, there may be problems and messages in the logs:

Bridge Port Receved Packet with Own Address As Source Address (4f: 5e: 0d: 15: 60: 6s), Probably Loop

Mikrotik basic settings in access points

Today I want to show how you can quickly configure Mikrotik routers in access point mode. I will show with the example of CAP AC, but actions will be exactly the same for any model.

Mikrotik video tutorials will be able to undergo full.time MTCNA training? He has an alternative. Minus. there will be no official certificate. There are much more pluses. Firstly, do not go anywhere, watch and review the video tutorials when you are comfortable and as many times as you need. Secondly, the emphasis is in the course, it is about 4 times more than in full-time training. Read more about the course on the page “]] setting up equipment mikrotik]”, where you can order for free]] the first 25 lessons]]]]]]]]]]].

If you want to configure the device in router mode. That is, this article.

Actually, we connect the device to the network, open Winbox. CAP AC will have to appear in the NeighBors tab. For the time of configuration, it is better to connect to the MAC address. By default, the name of the User Admin is used, without a password (the name and password are clogged on the Slase, do not pay attention to this).

mikrotik, reset, connection

To get started. to update. go to System. Packages, click Check for Updates, if there are updates to click Download and Install. We wait until the device is rebooted.

After that, go to System. Routerboard and click the upgrade button. After that, reboot the device. System.Reboot.

Then reset all the settings. System. Reset Configuration. We put the daw. No Default Configuration and Do Not Backup. We wait for another reboot. And we connect when the device appears in Neighbors.

First of all, t.to. Our device will work in access point mode. add all the intenses in one bridge, and set it IP address from your network.

In the Bridge menu, in the first tab we add a new bridge (you need to click on a plus), call it for example LAN, in the second Ports tab. add the intenses to the created Bridge, t.to. We want to add all the intenses. select all.

We set the address. IP. Addresses, and for the LAN integrate we write a free address from our network.

After that, so that the access point has access to the Internet, add the default route. IP. Routes, you need to indicate the address of your main router as a gateway, in my case it is 192.168.one.one

We set the address of the DNS server. IP. DNS, and indicate the desired address (this is either the address of your router, or the provider, or, for example, Google. 8.eight.eight.eight)

If you do not want to set a static address, you can configure the DHCP client. (IP-DHCP-Client).

It remains only to turn on wi-fi. We go to Wireless-Security Profiles, add a new profile-select WPA2 PSK, WPA2 EAP, in the WPA2 Pre-SHARED KEY column we enter a password from Wi-Fi network.

Next, go to Wi-Fi Interfaces and go into the properties of each adapter, select Mode-AP Bridge, the country-so as not to violate the law regarding the power of transmitters, set ssid (visible network name) and our previously created Security Profile, for 2.4 GHz, I usually put the width of the channel 20/40MHz CE, for 5GHC. 20/40/80MHz Ceeee. If it seems that wi-fi beats weakly, you can play with this parameter. The already the channel, the further the access point beats, but the slower the Internet will be. You can also specify the frequency, or the channel, depending on the workload in your area. The rest can be left by default. Wi-Fi should work with such settings and the Internet on the devices should go. If you want deeper settings, you can play, with a channel width, power, etc.D. Wiki from the microtics to help, everything is relatively described in detail about each of the parameters.

Creating a configuration

When creating a wireless network with two ranges, you should create 2 separate configurations. The first for 2.4 GHz, second for 5 GHz.

mikrotik, reset, connection

Open the Configuctions tab and create a new entry.

  • NAME: The name of the configuration at its discretion;
  • Mode: AP;
  • SSID: Wireless Network name
  • Country: Choosing a country for Mikrotik adjusted the power of the radio module according to regional standards;
  • Ht tx chains: select three all channels;
  • HT RX Chains: select three all channels;

In the Channel tab, select a pre.created channel for the range 2.4 GHz. As you can see, you could configure all the parameters right here. The presence of a profile simplifies configuration during a configuration of a large number of access points.

note! If you want to smash the channels at points. It is necessary to create several configurations with several selected channels.

For Datapath and Security, by analogy, select pre.created profiles.

For the 5 GHz range, everything is similar, only select the corresponding channel from the range of 5 GHz.

In our case, for example, 2 access points are used, one of which supports two ranges, so we have 3: 2 configurations for two points by 2.4 GHz, one configuration for 5 GHz.

For a large number of points, it is enough to create 2-3 configurations for the range. Next, choose them in a “chess” manner, so that the channels do not intersect to neighboring.

Access points

In order to configure the control of remote access points and the wireless intenses available on them, it is necessary to create the relevant rules in the Provisioning tab.

If you have only one configuration for all access points. In the Radio MAS field, leave a value 00: 00: 00: 00: 00: 00 and the controller will use a single configuration for all mass-ades.

In our case, there are several configurations, so we will attach our setting to each point. Everything that we need for this. Indicate the point of the point.

In the Action Field, select “Create Dynamic Enabled”.

If necessary, you can use the SLAVE-configuration, which will create several SSIDs at the point (Virtual AP).

note. In order to transfer configuration for 2.4 and 5 GHz, it is necessary to create 2 separate provisions, each of which is tied to the MAS WLAN (Wlan1 and Wlan2 have different mashed masses)

As a result, we got 3 rules. We advise you to use Комментарии и мнения владельцев, subsequently this will greatly simplify the administration.

The controller settings are completed on this, you can start setting up the devices themselves.

Setting Wi-Fi access Mikrotik access point

First you need to turn on the Wi-Fi module:

Create a password for connecting to the Mikrotik access point:

  • Open the Security Profiles tab;
  • Press the Add button (plus);
  • In the new window in the NAME field, we indicate the name of the security profile;
  • For better security, we leave only registration on the protocol WPA2 PSK;
  • In the WPA2 Pre-Shared Key field, we enter a password for access to a Wi-Fi point;
  • To save the settings, press the OK button.

We set up the wi-fi parameters Mikrotik:

  • Open the InterFaces tab;
  • We make a double click by the mouse button on the Wi-Fi Wlan1 integration to go into its settings;
  • We go to the Wireless tab;
  • In the Mode list, select the operating mode AP Bridge (access point in the bridge mode);
  • In the BAND list we select in what standards Wi-Fi Point will work, we have chosen b/g/n;
  • In the SSID field, we prescribe the name of the access point;
  • In the list of Security Profile, select the name of the security profile in which we created a password for access to a Wi-Fi point;
  • Press the OK button to save settings.

Now you can connect to the router via wi-fi.

On computers connected to the Wi-Fi Mikrotik router, the Internet will not work until you set up Firewall and NAT.

Firewall and NAT settings

In order for computers to get access to the Internet, you need to configure Firewall and NAT on the Mikrotik router.

Open the New Terminal menu to enter commands.

NAT setup is performed by the following commands:

, Where Ether1. This is an integration that the Internet comes from the provider. For PPPOE, the name PPPOE integrates is indicated.

NAT settings are enough to work the Internet.

Protect Router. Roter protection commands:

Protect LAN. Protection of the internal network:

We assign types of integrations to protect the internal network (External. External, Internet. Inner LAN):

Mikrotik reset jamper on old models

The figure shows the location of the Jamper for resetting settings in old Routerboard models, for example RB133C.

To reset the settings in old Mikrotik models, follow the following:

  • Disconnect the power of the router;
  • Close jumper with a metal jumper;
  • Turn on the power of the router;
  • Wait for the configuration to reset and remove the jumper.

After resetting the router, you can go into its settings with the standard name of the Admin user without a password.

Note: Do not forget to remove the jumper after resetting the settings, otherwise the device will be dumped every time when rebooting.

Reset the settings with a button using the example of Mikrotik SXT:

Reset of the microtics to the factory configuration using the opening on the board:

Thus, in routers, access points, Mikrotik sweatshirts, from the moment of pressing the discharge button and to determine the device in the system, it takes no more than a minute. After that, you can start a full.fledged setting.

How to connect to a microtics after reset

Finally make sure that the device is ready to work by launching a proprietary utility from Mikrotik Winbox and seeing our model in the Neighbors tab.

If the reset was carried out by the Reset button, then in this tab we should see the network address by default 192.168.88.one.

At the first turned on the microtics, we will be offered a certain default profile, which can be abandoned by clicking on the “Remove Configuration” button.

If the microtics was dropped by the closure of the contact sites, then four zero 0 instead of the network address will be displayed.0.0.0 and the default profile after connection is not proposed.

IP after discharging the contact sites of the “discharges” successful to you and let the devices obey you).
