It turned out that it was not enough to connect two devices, the site and the recorder. The resulting symbiosis of gadgets also needs to be calibrated. And this is not easy. Not only because the user manual, as well as other possible sources, completely lacks any information on this topic.

In recent years, equipment manufacturers have en masse refuse to provide their products with intelligible documentation. What is now attached to small household appliances cannot be called instructions, much less manuals (1. Take the device out of the package. 2. Turn on the device. 3. Follow the instructions). The main requirement is their distinguishability and presence on both sides of the strip. In our area, the marking on the left (central) is available almost everywhere, even if not in a new state. But the markings on the right could only be found on a relatively new section of the road, the sides of which had not yet had time to be covered with a cultural layer of dust and dirt.

Literally in a minute of driving along such a lane, the registrar in a woman’s voice announced the cherished Calibration sucCeeded.

Let’s rejoice? This is not the time. The ADAS help section contains a little more: after a successful calibration, you need to re-calibrate.

I really want to ask the developers of the registrar and GPS site: why? Why do you need this exciting quest? Why other car recorders, taken “out of the box”, without any calibration, quite successfully cope with these trivial standard functions, warning of a possible departure from the lane or approaching an obstacle?

That was good news (no). Now the news is bad (yeah) The module, which took a lot of time and gasoline to calibrate, turned out to be unnecessary. It does almost nothing. GPS tags, speed and acceleration are not shown on the display or in the video. There is simply no data in the video files that could be extracted by third-party programs. The registrar does not warn about leaving the lane (although this is not surprising with our “lanes”). The recorder also does not signal a possible collision. The operation of the module can sometimes be detected only when in a traffic jam: an English-speaking woman, hidden in the recorder, issues a warning that the car in front has started to move. Well, at least thanks for that, now you can read a book in a traffic jam, and not look into someone’s stern. True, this function does not always work. it requires daylight hours, good visibility and the absence of backlight (the sun should not shine into the lens).

The recorder saves video files to a standard MP4 container during recording. The number of frame size options depends on the selected codec.

As you can see, there are no extra wires on the surface, everything is laid in a corrugation, respectively, the cable is not threatened with chafing, bending and breakage, one might say factory assembly. I am very pleased with the result.

As for the presence of tinting on the glass, then of course it affects the result, in the daytime it is almost imperceptible, not critical, the picture is quite readable, the numbers are visible, and in general it is worthy. For a general understanding of the traffic situation, more than enough.

But with the arrival of night, the picture deteriorates. You can’t see a damn thing through the toner. Only bright lights and nothing else. The license plates can only be seen at a distance of no more than two or three meters. In general, for the night, the option with toning is certainly not suitable. But because of this, I am not going to take off the tinting, and even more so to cut out a piece of tinting for the recorder, I can’t get it. So if you do not have tinting and are not going to glue, then you are more fortunate than me.

Is it rational or not, the installation of the recorder on the back, I will not argue, firstly, I had this recorder idle and it was a sin not to use it. Yes, toning completely kills night photography, but at least during the day everything is fine, it’s also better than nothing. And the installation, you saw it yourself, couldn’t be easier. In general, I have been skating with him for about a month and I can say that I have never regretted installing it. Does not interfere, does not ask for food, but the record is.

And by the way, no matter how dark toning is, it is basically noticeable to the drivers driving behind, and believe me, this is a very deterrent factor for those who want to sit on their tail, blink, play and cuddle at traffic lights and rises.
