Installing Windows 10 on ASUS X205TA

I decided to prepare a detailed step-by-step instruction on installing Windows 10 from a flash drive on a laptop, or on a regular landline computer. We will consider the installation from the USB drive. Installing from a disk is practically no different, and you can set the system for this instruction. Yes, and in general, the Windows 10 installation process itself is not much different from the same Windows 8, or seven. So if you already have experience, then install without problems.

I will install ASUS laptop, that is, I will show on a real example, with real photos. If you want to install Windows 10 to a new computer, instead of the already installed system, or at all next to the installed system, then simply follow the instructions below, everything will turn out. We will perform clean installation of Windows 10, and not update the already installed system.

If you want to install the operating system on a laptop, you may be easier to do this on a separate instruction: how to install Windows 10 on a laptop.

We divide the instructions into several sections, it will be easier and clearer.

What you need to do before the boot process in the bios from the flash drive

In order to reinstall the operating system on a laptop in such a way, you will need to create a loading flash drive with which the installation will occur. If all the drivers for the gadget are also on the disks, you should rewrite them on the flash card.

If you, for example, are going to install on the ASUS Windows 7 laptop, you can create a bootable flash drive using auxiliary utilities, such as “Windows 7 USB / DVD Download Tool”. You can use an alternative solution, and to create a boot flash card to use the Ultraiso program. If the flash drive is ready, you can safely go to the BIOS system and install the download from it.

IMPORTANT: Check out before installation

When installing Windows 7, first of all it is necessary to determine the characteristics of your computer. If its operational memory is less than 2 GB, then you will fit the 32-bit operating system (OS) with a platform 86 bits. In most modern laptops, the RAM is installed in the volume of more than 2 GB, in which case, you can safely install the 64-bit OS.

Information about the amount of memory can be obtained by opening the properties of the computer. Right-click on the “My Computer” icon on the desktop, select the properties in the menu, and we are looking for the installed memory (RAM).

Method 1

Insert a USB flash drive into a USB port, in the figure it is black. Make sure you insert a flash drive in the right port.

Restart / turn on a computer. When you turn on, as soon as the load starts, press the “delete” or “F2” button several times (on some modern models “F10”). The BIOS program will appear in front of you.

Select a tab called “BOOT”. In a new window, select “Boot Booster” and click the “ENTER” button. Then select the “disabled” option.

Further in the same tab “BOOT”, click on the “Fast Boot” and select “Disabled”.

Next, save the changes by clicking on the last tab “Save Changes and Exit”. It can also be done by simply pressing the “F10” button. The computer will automatically reboot. After it is rebooted, log in to the BIOS, and again select the tab called “Boot”. But this time I press “Launch CSM” and click “ENTER”. Choose “Enable”.

Next, we find the subtitle “Boot Option Priorities”, go to the first position of this list and click “Enter”. You have a window to appear in which you need to select the name of your flash drive. Choose it and again click “Enter”.

If this method seemed to you too complicated and incomprehensible, you can try to spend this operation using the boot menu.

Setting up graphic UEFI BIOS. BIOS UTILITY. EZ MODE

As in the previous case, the initial course of action is the same. Insert the bootable USB flash drive, clamp F2 and turn on the laptop.

In it you need to press the F8 button and select your flash drive from the open list by pressing the ENTER button. On this list, the flash drive can be displayed twice: with the UEFI prefix and without it. This is fine. Try to select first with the UEFI and if the download does not start, then go to the BIOS again and try to choose the option without UEFI.

If there is no on the list of your flash drive, then try to do the following. Press the F7 button to enter the extended settings. Go to the “Security” tab and translate the “Secure Boot Control” option to “Disabled”.

On the “BOOT” tab, the “Fast Boot” option is also disconnected by setting the value “disabled”.

It is also worth checking the tab “Advanced”.Menu item “USB Configuration”. If there is the “Legacy USB Support” option, then it needs to set the value “auto” or “enabled”. Also in the presence of “XCHI Pre-Boot Mode” assign it the value “auto” or “enabled”.

Write Windows 10 on the USB flash drive or DVD to install on a laptop

To begin with, we need to download the image of Windows 10. You can download it from the official site, or from other sources. Well, you understand what I should have.ISO image system. I wrote in a separate article in detail how to download Windows 10 from the official site Microsoft. Through the same branded utility Media Creation Tool, you can immediately burn the image on the USB flash drive.

Further we need to be determined with the drive from which we will perform the installation. If your laptop has a CD-ROM drive, and you have a clean DVD disk, then you can write an image on it. But I would advise you to use a USB flash drive for this business. The difference in principle is small. It’s already like you like more and what is suitable in your case.

To make this article as simple and understandable as possible, without unnecessary information, I’ll just give references to the instructions on which you can easily create a bootable drive with an operating system for further installation:

Return to this article When you have a ready-made boot disk, or a USB drive.

If you are going to install the system not on a new laptop, then make sure that the local disk C is not valuable for you. Including in the “My Documents” folder and on the desktop. Everything will be removed only from the C disk (provided that you select the section correctly).

In order not to make a mistake with the selection section for the installation “Dozens”, go to “My Computer” and remember the size and free space on the disk C. Then you can navigate through these numbers at the installation selection phase for installation.

How to install windows from a flash drive

Now many modern laptops do not have a DVD drive, so it is impossible to install an operating system from an optical disk. This is not a problem, since the installation can be fully executed from USB media, including with a conventional flash drive.

We need the installation image of the operating system (file.ISO) and a flash drive, the size of which is more installed file.

For example, the size of the image of Windows 2.4 gigabytes, then you need a flash drive on 4 gigabytes or more. If an image of more than 4 gigabytes, but you need a flash drive to 8 or more gigabytes.
