Hyundai Solaris rear view camera connection
Hello everyone! I will share the first part of the installation of the rear view camera (travel) is the choice of connection and installation location, temporary installation, check of work.
For convenience, the table of contents is by section:
– camera selection and stuff la la la;
– checking the system operation before installation;
– installation;
– elimination of a glitch or a PNR;
– links where did you get the info.
Checking system operation before installation
I don’t know where I got this rule from: check it seven times and only then start the installation. But I am very, very happy about it.
Before installing, I began to check the performance of the camera. He took out the radio tape recorder from the shelf, connected the tulip of the camera, you need to connect the camera to and. I decided to go to the plafond, I took it apart, I found a sticker from the factory, I couldn’t find where to connect, I put everything back
We continue to pull the wires from the camera, this post, as you might guess from the name, is about how to lay the wire from the camera to the monitor throughout the cabin.
As I wrote earlier, it is difficult to remove the plastic linings around the cabin, so I did not take them off, from attempts to remove them, now all my fingers bake))
All the wiring was pushed under the roof sheathing, removing the door seal.
We remove the seal and start the wiring under the roof
Then, having reached the upholstery of the central pillar and failed attempts to remove it, I decided that I would pass the wire through the plastic
He opened the plug and with his finger pushed the tulip through the hole, for the tulip was trying to fall down all the time.
A bit of torment and the tulip comes out from the back
Then we also remove the door seal from the front passenger side and push the wire also under the roof.
Then we remove or partially bend the lining of the windshield pillar.
Again, it did not work to remove it, however, it is not necessary, the main thing is to remove it from two clips, and one clip, green telescopic type (it moves forward) refused to be removed, but due to the fact that it moves forward, this was enough.
Then we unscrew the sun visors so that the upholstery does not bend or break. I twisted both.
Visors are held by two screws.
Then we unscrew the plafond.
To remove the cover, you first need to remove the diffuser-button.
It is removed in this way, so do it with the second.
After unscrewing the screws, pull the cover down until it comes out, and then take it out.
Next, we push the wiring from the camera under the trim from the corner of the windshield and push it under the roof on top of the windshield, and pull out the wiring into the hole from the plafond.
I have about 2.5 meters of extra wire left, I wound up the excess and tied it to the roof with ties, there are fasteners there.
Then we put on a mirror-cover with a monitor, we also run the wires under the roof and connect.
The minus from the mirror was fed to the minus wire of the plafond, and the plus from the mirror was thrown onto the red wire that is on the tulip, tk. 12V appears on the wire when power is supplied to the camera. As a result, I did not pull any additional wires from the monitor, the monitor turns on itself when the reverse gear is turned on.
This completes the installation, everything is checked, everything works. Putting it all in reverse order.
I can help with the purchase and installation, if anything, please contact.
Thank you all for watching! Good luck on the road!
This time I started laying the cable from the camera through the trunk to the salon and powering the camera from the wires going to the reverse lamp.
The installation of the camera itself can be seen in previous posts.
I started by fixing the wire from the camera.
To do this, I took a split rubber corrugation (I found it at home) packed the wire from the camera into it and fastened it to the trunk loop on the ties.
The next step was to take out the trunk mat and remove the side lining of the trunk, I removed only the right side because the reversing lamp is located on our right, as is the wiring for this lamp.
We remove all clips (bugs) in the trunk. In total there are 5 bugs and 2 screws at the bottom.
By the way, I snapped off the luggage bugs with a wrench for 10))) I hooked it with a screwdriver, and then shoved the key there, it is convenient in general
ATTENTION! After that, do not rush to take out the upholstery! That’s not all.
Next, we move to the salon, recline the back of the rear seat and take out two more bugs and one self-tapping screw.
Now we remove this overlay.
It can be removed relatively tightly, in my opinion it is better to remove it from the bottom up, this pad is held on three clips (clips), two of them are plastic and one (the topmost in the center) on a metal base.
You pull off the two lower ones, then with a loosening movement we try to pull out the upper one and after a while it should give in to us.
Behind this lining is another bug that holds the side lining of the trunk.
We take it out too
And only after that you can remove the trunk trim!
After removing the casing, we look into the lantern and see that the orange and black wire is going to reverse.
According to the idea, we throw the power of the camera on these wires.
We remove the chip from the headlight, cut the insulation of the braid with wires and are surprised, but where is the orange wire ?! o_O
Well, OK, I thought, closed the car and went home to get the multimeter, came back, turned on the reverse gear and the ignition, poked it into the block and found the right wire. In my case, it turned from orange to green.

We clean it and connect the red wire from the camera to the green in the car, with the black wire from the camera to the black wire in the car.
Now the task is to push the wire from the trunk into the passenger compartment. The question arose, which is better? On the roof or on the floor along the thresholds? I decided that I would go on the roof.
Unfortunately, I could not remove all the side panels at the back and decided to go the other way, partially removing the door seal.
If you remove the seal and look inside, you will see the trunk through the slots.
I took a piece of wire and shoved it from the cabin into the trunk
Rear view camera wiring diagram
When you need to install and connect a rear view camera yourself, it is difficult to find the correct and understandable connection diagrams. Especially for European cars with lamp health monitoring, where everything is fine until you start the engine. Disabling the VAG lamp health check with a cord through the VCDS program (Vasya Diagnost) does not help! Asian cars do not have such problems and you do not need to fence anything and you can not read further!
Attention. before installing the camera, check its operation on an uncranked engine. if there is interference. you can not read further. deal with the camera, wires, radio tape recorder.
My circuit is only for a running engine, when the interference is formed by a lamp health control, which is a PWM controller with positive rectangular pulses. The spiral of an incandescent lamp has inertia and a voltage change is not noticeable on it, but on the camera this manifests itself as interference in the image, flickering, curvature, signal loss, etc.
Having experience in radio electronics, I drew personally verified diagrams for connecting a rear view camera, which have already helped a lot of people.
Blue underlined text are hyperlinks to be clicked on
The process of my own installation on a VW Caddy with lamp health monitoring is described in detail by me in the Kaddy’s onboard here: Installing and connecting a rear view camera on a VW without interference with power!
We use the camera with a CCD sensor, since it produces a high-quality picture at any time of the day (you can clearly see that the picture is noticeably better than that of CMOS), with dust and moisture protection IP 68 and work in the dark. For example, this Swift HD CCD Luxur W-989: HD CCD Car Rearview Camera Waterproof night vision Wide Angle reversing with a combined socket-boss with a stub. This is a great lens camera from Sony, personally tested! Everything is visible even at night (photo below). At the same time, it costs less than 1000 re!
The only downside is that it does not have the widest angle of view, as the hedgehog thinks04, as for me the viewing angle is so good, maybe he has a different camera.
We also make sure that there is no flare from the backlight of the room, if the camera is close!
The camera has an operating voltage of 5 to 30 V, a maximum current of 90 mA (
0.1 A), it works from 3.3 V. there is a stabilizer in a plastic boss on the wire in front of the wire connector from the camera. It can overheat if it works constantly, so we only power it when the radio monitor is turned on.
Eliminating noise in the image from the camera when the engine is running
Every car owner faces the problem of camera operation on a running engine with monitoring the health of the lamps. Always think over and draw a connection diagram before installation. this will help immediately avoid many mistakes and problems!
Try to start by connecting the camera directly to the cigarette lighter to the plus and minus and look at the running engine. Connect the minus correctly! Take the minus away from the reversing lights (ZX), for example, from some bolt on the body, or even without a minus at all. the minus will be taken from the radio tape recorder via a shielded coaxial video transmission cable. Also, they often mistakenly take a plus from the salon lamp, and the excitation wire (to turn on the monitor) from the ZX lamps. But the interior lighting also has lamp monitoring! Plus, at 87, the relay contact must be taken from the cigarette lighter, and the camera power wire and the excitation wire must be connected to the 30th contact of the relay output! You can also take a clean plus from the ACC ignition lock.
Interference in the power supply gives the control of the operation of the lamps when the engine is running. And this pulse current goes to the reversing lamps (ZX). Due to the inertia of the spiral, it seems that the ZX lamp is burning continuously, in fact, voltage appears or disappears on it with a high frequency. At the moments of “failures”, the lamp is checked for serviceability. It also happens that charging for phones in the cigarette lighter gives interference, moreover, through the air, that is, only disconnecting charging or shielding the cable helps.
Important!
There is only one working option for connecting the power of the camera out of four.
Only with 4 connection options will the camera work and give a clear picture. Why. written below.
1. If you connect the plus of the camera to the plus of the ZX lamp, then with the engine running, the camera will not work at all due to the pulsed current monitoring the health of the lamps, or strong interference in the form of stripes in the image will be visible.
2. If you connect the plus of the camera to the plus of the ZX lamp through a conventional relay, to which pure power is supplied from the cigarette lighter, the relay will click and the camera will not turn on, since the relay does not provide power.
3. If you connect the plus of the camera to the plus of the ZX lamp through a diode with a smoothing capacitor, then when the engine is running, there is still noticeable interference from the camera in the image due to ripple in the power supply.
By the way, you can quickly check the camera by submitting a video from it to the TV in the yellow entrance for the tulip.
Due to the impulse current monitoring the health of the lamps, the relay clicks quickly and does not turn on! Therefore, a diode is needed for rectifying and a capacitor to smooth out the ripple, and only after them a plus is supplied to the winding so that the relay closes normally.
What is impulse current read here: Pulsating electric current
How the relay cracks, see here: Relay cracking from impulse current
Read about the rectifier here: Low-power power supply, www.cqham.ru/pow2_15.htm
The diode in this case does not work as a rectifier (since there is no negative half-wave here), but as a blocker that prevents the capacitor from quickly discharging into the ZX lamps, maintaining a constant voltage on the relay winding and does not allow it to click.
Eliminate blank screen and RCD radio error when exiting camera mode. Delaying camera shutdown.
When the camera is powered from the reversing lights, as well as turning on the camera mode on the display, when the reverse gear is turned off, it often turns off before the display has time to process the status change and exit the camera mode (delay is about 1-2 seconds) and noise is displayed on some radio tape recorders disconnection and a blank screen of an already disconnected camera. Also, when maneuvering on a narrow stretch of road back and forth, when changing gears, the monitor often turns on / off, which is inconvenient.
Therefore, a simple delay is set to turn off the power of the camera.
The best and simplest solution without using a diode and a capacitor right out of the box is the VAZ-2111 relay for the rear window washer AVAR 454.3747 (or 526.3747-03) with a 5 second delay.
This washer time relay turns on the washer pump for 5 seconds.
The delay can be either reduced or increased by replacing the 22 uF capacitor in this relay.
The second solution is a low-power high-resistance relay and a capacitor with a diode. We supply plus from the ZX lamp through the diode, and then the capacitor and to the relay winding.
The capacitor smooths out the pulsations of the lamp control, allowing the relay coil to close the relay. A diode is required to get rid of the lights, otherwise the capacitor will quickly discharge through the reversing lamps. The relay is precisely low-power with a winding with high resistance =
1 kOhm so that the capacitor does not discharge quickly and there is a delay for a couple of seconds.
A conventional relay will not work here, since it has a winding resistance =
85 Ohm, which is very small and there will be no delay! Installing a 1 kΩ resistor in series will not allow the relay to close at all!
It is possible to calculate the delay time of the relay off in this circuit with a diode and a capacitor.
The discharge time of the capacitor is equal to the product of the capacitance and the resistance, a direct relationship. It is only necessary to take into account that the relay will turn off a little earlier than the conder is completely discharged.
We bring all values to one dimension (farads, ohms, seconds) and count:
Delay time for RC-circuit: T = C R.
where T is the time in seconds, C is the capacitance of the capacitor in farads, R is the resistance of the circuit in ohms
T = 2200 μF 960 Ohm = 0.0022 960 = 2 sec. (quite enough)
For example, you need a delay of at least 8 seconds. for a relay with a 960 Ohm winding:
Capacitor for 8 sec delay: C = T / R 1,000,000 = capacitance in μF
C = 8/960 1,000,000 = 10,000 μF (rounded towards the standard capacitance).
Organization 8 sec. camera power off delays for standard GU RCD 330
Attention! If you have a standard head unit (HU) of the RCD 330 series, then it is imperative that the camera, after turning off the reverse speed, work for at least another 8 seconds. Otherwise, when disconnected, there will be an inscription “Camera is unavailable”.
If you use a circuit on a high-resistance relay, then you need to increase the capacitor rating to 10000 μF.
It is best to use the Relay VAZ-2111 of the rear window washer AVAR 4543747P, increasing the 22 μF capacitor in it to 47 μF 25V and the 470 Ohm resistor to 3.3 kΩ, having obtained the required shutdown delay of 8 seconds. instead of 5 sec. default.
You also need to activate the display activation by CAN bus in the on-board electronics unit (BCM) using a lanyard and the VCDS program (Vasya diagnostician): check the box along the way: 56 block, 3 bytes 6 bits
You can use the REGTAYM3-12- (0-60) relay, to which you can also supply a plus from the ZX lamp through a diode and a capacitor, but only a capacitor no more than 10-50 μF, otherwise there will be too long a shutdown delay!
You can also use a ready-made power filter to connect a rear view camera with image delay on extravag.ru or Aliexpress.
It also happens that in this radio tape recorder the Chinese confuse the pins on the adapter chip from the radio to the cable from the camera: the signal is braided, and the ground on the central core and the image is black and white and crooked! You need to swap them. The display itself is then activated by the CAN bus: a signal from the on-board electronics module (BCM) is sent to activate the display. To forcibly turn on the display, you need to install an additional module “video interface” for 10 thousand rubles.
You can put a special relay with an off delay REGTIME3-12- (0-60) (for on / off and off / on delay of devices for 0-60s).
Attention! The markings on this relay are such that a “view from the contact side” is drawn on top of the relay, and not when looking through the relay.
Connection diagram for pure power supply of the camera through a conventional relay
Attention! We solder the capacitor, observing the polarity, directly to the terminals of the relay winding, and then solder the plus through the diode and minus from the cigarette lighter to them. But it is better to use a high impedance relay!
The light in the diagram is a ZX lamp. Plus from the ZX lamp we feed through the diode to its anode, and from the output. the cathode (where the white strip is) to the 85th contact so that the capacitor does not discharge to the ZX lamp. Therefore, the capacitor is already after the diode.
If voltage is applied to the winding, then pin 30 is connected to pin 87 and a plus goes to it. At 85, the winding contact is supplied with a plus from the reversing lights, rectified by a diode and smoothed by a capacitor! Terminal 86 of the relay coil is connected to negative (ground).
Connection diagram for pure power supply of the camera through a high-impedance relay with a delay
The relay is low-power normally open. In the relay diagram, pins 9 and 13 are a plus for the camera power from the cigarette lighter or rear wiper motor, minus for the camera. from the body (ground). Control to the relay coil. from the ZX lanterns after straightening and smoothing the pulsations. The rating of the capacitor is 25 volts 2200 microfarads, any diode, the resistance of the relay winding must be at least 1 kOhm, these are 1 and 16 contacts. In this case, the relay is disconnected after 2 seconds. On a powerful relay with a low resistance winding, there will be no delay!
Camera block power circuit
When using multiple cameras, it makes sense to use a camera unit that is also powered by the reversing lights. Since there is also a relay in it, it is similarly necessary to straighten and smooth out the ripple with a diode and a capacitor, otherwise the relay clicks quickly, and the camera does not turn on.
It is better to connect from the cigarette lighter through a relay after the rectifier to supply clean power to the unit, otherwise the ripple will go to the power of the cameras and will be noticeable in the image.
Scheme of forced switching on of the camera with a standard button without fixing
Additionally, you can make a separate standard camera power button to see what is happening from behind, without turning on the reverse gear. In this case, you do not need to straighten and smooth the current, since the plus for the camera is taken clean from the cigarette lighter.
The implementation scheme of the fixed button from the standard one using the 23.3777 relay is shown below.
The following additional details will be required:
Schottky diode 1N5818 for backlighting the active mode of the OEM button
Relay 23.3777 fog lights VAZ-2110
Rear fog lamp relay socket (6 contacts) AED
or Terminal (female) 2.8 mm with tinned wire. 5 pcs.
Coaxial cable
Bottom line: the camera works fine and there is no interference (from the word at all)!
If there is still interference, then you can use a car power filter on a choke and two capacitors. electrolytic from 470 μF (to damp ripples below 10 kHz) and ceramic from 0.1 μF (to damp ripples above 10 kHz).

Rear-view cameras installed on cars and trucks differ in different connection methods. To connect these accessories to a radio tape recorder or monitor, different types of rear view camera pinouts are used for 4 wires (as well as for 3, 5 and 6 pins in the connector).
6 wires
This type of pinout differs in that all negative wires are brought out separately from the signal ones according to the following scheme:
- The first is powered by reversing lights. The conductor is red.
- The second yellow color is used for video signal.
- The third is the video cable shield.
- The fourth is the minus of the camera power.
- The fifth and sixth are the plus and minus of the IR illumination power supply, respectively. They can be used to implement different service functions.
How to choose a camera
The first thing to understand when choosing a car camera is that conventional devices are not suitable here. The point is in the specific operating conditions:
- The camera should show the image at minimum illumination.
- Resistant to high humidity and low temperatures.
- Since the image is formed behind the driver’s back, it must be mirrored during broadcast.
- The rear view camera must have a tool that allows you to determine the distance to objects. The role of such a tool is a frame or guide lines that indicate the dimensions of the machine.
- The camera is mounted on the bumper or mounted in the license plate. Therefore, it must be properly secured.
The device must comply with the standard wiring diagrams for rear view cameras. The schemes may differ depending on which device the image is displayed on: monitor, 2 din radio tape recorder, video recorder.
It’s nice if the camera has infrared illumination. This option will help improve image quality in low visibility conditions.
What materials and tools will be needed for installation
To figure out what tools you need, you need to determine the amount of work. If a wireless camera is installed that connects to the salon mirror, then the tools are only needed to install the camera in the bumper or in the license plate. This option is good for the simplicity and speed of installation, but it has one significant drawback. interference arising from extraneous sources of electromagnetic radiation.
Car Camera Wiring Tip. Using the red tail wire for power
If the rear view camera is connected to a Chinese radio, then you need to find out what video standard it can work with. It may happen that it works with PAL, while the camera is transmitting an NTSC image. In this case, you will either have to change the radio tape recorder, or additionally connect a monitor.
For a wired connection, you will need to partially disassemble the interior and trunk. Therefore, you will need several types of screwdrivers, special blades. clip removers. Wires, terminals, connectors must go together with the camera. Also, the kit should contain instructions and a diagram for connecting the rear view camera to the image output device diagram. In addition, you will need: electrical tape, pliers, wire cutters, heat shrink tubing, soldering iron and solder.
3 wires
The first wire is the composite video signal output to a monitor located in a car mirror or radio tape recorder. The second red conductor supplies power from the on-board network through a standard socket of the RP-2, RP-4 type or a proprietary connector.
To protect against interference, the video cable is placed in a screen braid, which is connected to ground inside the video controller and car radio.
When unsoldering the tulip, the signal wire is connected to the center pin, and the outer wire to the side contact of the connector.
Installation of two cameras
Some car enthusiasts do not understand how much space their car takes up in space. They find it difficult not only to park in reverse, but also in front. For these drivers, the output may be to connect 2 rear view cameras. Only one of these will be fitted in the front bumper. In this case, the connection diagram of the rear view camera will change.
The circuit will additionally have a five-pin relay that will switch the signal from one camera to another.
When the car is moving forward, the relay will supply the video signal from the front camera to the monitor. When reversing, power is supplied from the reversing warning lamp to the relay and it switches. Then the video signal starts coming from the rear camera.
In addition, there are monitors with two video inputs. Such devices are designed to connect two video cameras and are able to switch between them. The main thing here is not to confuse the entrances. The front camera is connected to the white one, constantly broadcasting the image. The rear camera is connected to the yellow one, which is triggered when the reverse gear is turned on. At this moment, the monitor switches the image from the front to the rear camera.
If there is only one video camera available, then it makes no difference which connector it is connected to.
Another important point: when connecting the front camera, the mirror reflection function must be turned off.
What are the ways to install cameras
There are several standard locations where a rear view camera can be installed on a vehicle. The choice of location depends on various factors:
- Car body type. It has been noticed that some types of bodies, for example, a hatchback, are more susceptible to contamination of the rear end than the same sedan. Therefore, in this case, the higher the camera is installed, the better.
- The ability to connect a standard rear view camera. For installation, a device is provided that replaces the standard rear room lighting. However, these cameras are not sold for every car model.
- Universal fasteners. It allows you to install the device on any plane.
- Installing the camera in the plate under the license plate. This method has proven itself well in cases where the place where the number is installed is not thrown with mud when driving.
There are completely specific installation methods from the tuning category. For example, the cylinder of the trunk lock is removed, and a camera is installed in its place. In this case, the function of locking the lock is taken over by an electric drive.
Hyundai Solaris Rear View Camera Installation
The driver, while driving, must ensure the maximum view of the road from all sides in order to be able to predict and prevent a dangerous road situation.
Fitting a Hyundai Solaris rear camera to any hatchback or sedan will provide an improved view. The image from the camera is transmitted to the monitor mounted on the torpedo, and the driver has the ability to quickly analyze the traffic situation.
You can buy a video camera with a monitor for a not very high price. Self-assembly is not difficult, but it will take several hours due to the need to remove and reinstall the interior upholstery of the trunk and interior. You may have to do the work in several stages, within 2-3 days.
How to install the device on Hyundai Solaris?
The installation process consists of several stages. To install a Hyundai Solaris rear view camera on a car with your own hands, you must have a standard set of tools.
Installation site. a plastic pad above the car number, colloquially called “saber”.
Choosing a hardware device
Drivers prefer to opt for standard equipment. Installing a rear view camera on a Hyundai Solaris sedan if it comes from the same manufacturer as the car itself will cause fewer compatibility issues.
It is installed in place of the room lighting plafond. But there is also a drawback: the fact that it is not located on the central axis of the car, but slightly on the side, impairs the quality of the view.
, a universal model of Chinese production will cost the driver 350-500 rubles. You can choose black or chrome options that best match the color of the car.
The monitor is purchased separately, installed in the saloon or hatchback, on the torpedo or on the mirror.
Stages of work:
- the inner lining of the trunk is removed;
- the “saber” is unscrewed, while it is necessary to remove 4 nuts and two studs;
- there is a hole for the wire closed with a rubber plug, located under the “saber”, into which it is pulled, but you must first drill a hole in the plug;
- a thin drill makes a hole in the “saber”, which coincides with the location of a similar hole in the plug;
- a video camera is installed with a slight downward tilt, so it better captures moving objects;
- the wire is led out to the power wires of the rear light and is connected to them. The wiring diagram may be different, you need to focus on color matches: black with black; red with green;
- the wire from the camera along the roof or along the walls of the cabin under the casing is led to the place where the monitor is installed.
How to connect a Hyundai Solaris rear view camera?
The final stage of installing the rear camera on Hyundai Solaris will be to connect the equipment and check its operability. To conduct the wire, you will need to remove the door trim and windshield pillar trim.
The wires from the monitor are connected to the wires of the interior lighting shade. The performance of the camera is checked when the vehicle is turned on. It is powered by the rear light, it is not required to specifically turn on the lights, the device must be connected immediately when the motor is turned on.
During the installation of the camera, it is necessary to position the monitor so that viewing the image on it does not distract the driver’s attention from the front view.
Placing it on the rear-view mirror will solve this problem.
