How to use sensors in the Quik desktop app?
Measuring gauges let you add new layers of storytelling to yours in Quik for desktop. We record GPS route, speed, altitude and other data using any compatible GoPro, and then add sensor readings and graphs to your Stories that show how statistics change as you travel.
To use the sensors in Quik, you must first enable GPS Reading when capturing footage with a compatible GoPro. All Black series GoPro cameras from HERO5 Black support GPS data logging.
Turn on GPS on your HERO5 / 6 Black:
- Turn on your HERO5 or HERO6 Black.
- SwIPe down on the home screen.
- Tap Preferences GPS On
- To exit, swIPe down.
Turn on GPS on your HERO7 Black:
- Turn on your HERO7 Black.
- SwIPe down on the home screen.
- Tap Preferences Regional GPS On.
- To exit Tap the back arrow at the top of the menu.
Receiving GPS signal
Gauges do not work for EDITED. Timewarp, time-lapse and time-lapse photos.
Before you start recording, make sure your device is receiving a GPS signal. When a GPS signal is available, the GPS icon in the upper left corner of the camera screen should turn white (see the first of three images below).

Adding sensors to Quik
- Importing yours into Quik

You have two options for live streaming to:
- Profile
- Page
During Set Up Live Stream you can choose to broadcast to profile or to page (see Step 9 below).
You must be the administrator of the profile, page or group to which you plan to broadcast. Then you should be able to Get Live API URLs here. You will need it to set up the initial connection to the GoPro App. You get this URL by selecting Live on the homepage and copying / pasting the server URL of the broadcast key as a single RTMP URL into the GoPro App.
1. Open the GoPro App and tap the camera icon in the lower left corner of the screen.
2. Now touch the blue button in the center of the screen: Control Your GoPro.
3. Scroll through the icons at the bottom of the screen and tap Live.
4. This icon will appear as a blue button labeled Set Up Live. It should be indicated under it. This is the platform you will be streaming content to.
5. Now Tap Set Up Live.

7. A new screen will appear. Tap the blue button: Set Up Live Stream.
8. Another screen for live broadcast setup appears. At the top of the screen, select a Wi-Fi or Personal Hotspot connection.

Getting started with Twitch.
With the latest update of the GoPro App for iOS, you can stream directly to Twitch. Android support in development!

Getting started with YouTube:
There are some limitations to be aware of when working with YouTube. Most importantly, before streaming live you need to check and set up an account that can practice up to 24 hours. And for live streaming from a mobile device, at least 1000 subscribers are required.
1. Open the GoPro App and tap the camera icon in the lower left corner of the screen.
2. Now touch the blue button in the center of the screen: Control Your GoPro.
3. Scroll through the icons at the bottom of the screen and tap Live.

Getting started with RTMP:
For live streaming on compatible platforms, you can use the RTMP URL. Currently live streaming is only done with RTMP and RTMP URLs embedded. RTSP, HLS and other URL are not supported.
1. Go to the live streaming platform.
2. Follow the instructions to create RTMP or RTMPS URLs combined with broadcast name / key (click show button to view). It is necessary to combine both lines into one with a “/” in the middle.
Currently, live streaming is only done with RTMP and RTMPS URLs embedded. RTSP, HLS and other URL are not supported.
