Manual settings
If you want to get great shots, then you must wean yourself from constantly using automatic mode. We can spend hours describing you how to set up the camera on your phone, but if you only use presets, it will not help you much in difficult cases. Try to adjust certain settings in difficult shooting conditions, which are often available directly during framing.
- Flash. can be disabled, forced or run in automatic mode. In the third case, the system itself will decide whether to activate the flash now. The result of its work depends on the specific implementation and shooting conditions. Once it can really save the picture, and in other cases its use only spoils the frame.
- ISO. the so-called photosensitivity. When the frame is increased, more power is supplied to the matrix, as a result of which data is read from it a little better. But in return the image can get a certain amount of digital noise. random flickering points. Noise is most noticeable when viewing a photo at 100% zoom. You should think about ISO only in low light conditions, this parameter should not be too much higher, otherwise the result will unpleasantly surprise you.
- Excerpt. only regulated on some smartphones. This parameter means how long the aperture will be open. The longer, the more light the matrix will receive. But if you overdo it, Peresvetka happens.
- Exposition. marked with a square icon with plus and minus. This is the easiest way to lighten or darken the frame.
- Diaphragm. the degree of its opening is regulated only on some devices. Again, how much light gets into the frame depends on the diameter of the hole.
- Exposure metering. it depends on how the system will determine how light the frame is.
- White balance. makes the image warmer or colder. Usually, automation and without human intervention copes with its task. But if you are shooting in unusual lighting conditions, then it is better to choose one or another white balance manually.
- HDR. when this function is enabled, the camera will create several frames at once with different exposures. Then all this is combined into one image, from which too dark and overly exposed areas are excluded. But it takes time to create multIPle frames, so you don’t need to photograph moving objects in HDR mode.
These are the few settings that you can usually choose right during shooting. But almost any Camera application also provides different modes of operation. This should also be discussed.
Camera shooting modes on phones
By default, the application activates regular photography. In it, you can switch to the front camera. Or go to shooting. In addition, the application provides several second shooting modes:
- Panorama. This mode is ideal for shooting natural and urban landscapes. Several pictures are automatically created in it, after which they are stitched into one frame. It turns out a very wide photo, allowing you to see the area around you in detail.
- Beauty shooting. when this mode is activated, the application will try to smooth the skin and make other image enhancements. The mode is primarily tailored for shooting with the front camera.
- Blur background. shooting in this mode can be realized in different ways. Best of all, the background is able to blur smartphones with a dual camera. If there is only one lens in the device, then the background is blurred either by software or after a certain movement of the device from top to bottom.
- GIF animation. In fact, it is removed in this mode. But with a frequency of only about one frame per second. The resulting pictures are combined into one GIF animation, which you can then post to a social network.
- Burst shooting. in this mode, several frames can be taken in a second (the exact number of frames is affected by the processor power). Then you can choose the best shot, or keep them all in memory. Good mode for shooting children, cars, sports and other active scenes.
- Night. special mode for shooting in low light conditions. It automatically increases the light sensitivity, and the shutter speed becomes longer.
- High speed shooting (slow-mo). smartphones with a very powerful processor have this mode. The mode is used when shooting. The camera takes a very large number of frames per second in it. Then you can slow down, so that the movements of the subject will be seen in full detail.
These are the most popular modes found in standard Camera applications. There are some specific modes, but there is no point in talking about them in a short article.

How to set up a camera on your phone: Global settings
The existing Camera settings can be roughly divided into two categories. The first includes parameters that globally affect the final result. They are located in a special section, access to which is provided after clicking on the Settings icon (in the application itself, of course). The second category includes the parameters of the shooting itself. shutter speed, ISO, white balance, and so on. First, let’s figure out what awaits you in the menu called Settings:
- Image size. this parameter determines how many pixels the image will consist of. Also, this item can be called photo resolution. Feel free to choose the most affordable option.
- The size . or his permission. Likewise, choose the highest setting (4K, Full HD, or HD as a last resort). Note that some shooting modes may not be available at the highest resolution, such as high speed
- Frequency . determines how fast it will be written. The higher the parameter, the smoother the picture will be. The optimal choice is 50 or 60 fps. But in cheap smartphones for such high-speed shooting there is not enough processor power, in which case you will have to do with a smaller parameter.
- Image overview. if you activate this switch, then after pressing the shutter button you will see the final image. They will be shown for a few seconds. If the switch is NOT active, then you can instantly take the next frame, and the photo will immediately go to the Gallery.
- Timer. or self-timer. After pressing the shutter button, the selected number of seconds passes, after which the frame is taken.
- Grid. its display allows you to align the horizon line. In the final photo of the grid, of course, there will be no.
- Photo quality. this parameter determines how much the image will be compressed. Choose Maximum quality. then you will get the best result. The rest of the parameters can lead to some blurring of the image.
- Geotags. this switch determines whether the geographic coordinates of the shooting location are tagged.
- Storage. select SD card if present in your device.
- Flicker reduction. fluorescent lamps in different countries flicker at different frequencies. This setting allows you to suppress the effect of flickering, but you need to select a specific frequency. 50 or 60 Hz.
- Voice control. this item is not available on every smartphone. This function is to take pictures with a voice command.
- Volume key. determines what actions during shooting are assigned to the corresponding button. For example, it can become an additional shutter button. Or, pressing it will start shooting.
- Gesture control. another method of shooting, implemented in some smartphones. For example, the self-timer can start Raised hand or smile.
- Optical stabilization. turns on on some devices. It allows you to make the shutter speed slower without increasing the risk of blurring. But the gimbal is best seen when shooting.
These are the main parameters contained in the corresponding section of the standard Camera application. Understanding and applying these or other settings correctly will help you decide how to set up the camera on your phone. But some smartphones have additional settings. here it all depends on the manufacturer’s imagination and his skills.
How to turn on the camera on your phone
Modern versions of Android have useful features that you might not know. Quick Start Camera on Android is a feature that allows you to start the camera on your phone quickly in a convenient way.
Let’s see how to quickly turn on the camera on Android 9.
– To quickly launch the camera on the phone, you need to quickly double-click the “Power / On” button. This function can be used immediately when performing any task on the screen and without leaving the application, game or even when the screen is locked. After a quick launch, you can take photos, shoot and save, but look at previously taken and Saved photos and it will NOT work until you unlock the phone by entering a password, pattern, fingerprint or another way to unlock your smartphone.
If you do not have quick access to the camera, then perhaps the reason is that this function is turned off at the top.
– To enable or disable fast launch of the camera on Android 9, you need to open the “Settings”. (For those who do not know how to get into the settings. pull down from the top edge of the screen and in the shortcut menu that appears to various useful functions click on the gear icon.
– Further in the settings you need to go to the “system”.
– Next “gestures”.
– In gestures, select the item “Quick access to the camera” where we can enable or disable this function.
How to take a photo with your phone: simple tIPs before shooting
But first, you should understand that the quality of photos depends not only on the settings. As trivial as it sounds, there is a little preparation you need to do before pressing the shutter button:
- WIPe the objective lens. this element is prone to fogging and all sorts of dirt. It is not in vain that professional photographers always carry a clean cloth with them to wIPe the optics.
- Try to find the right angle. do not shoot against the sun, as the smartphone’s tiny sensor will not have enough dynamic range. And try to ensure that the viewer’s gaze follows from the upper right to the lower left corner of the final photo (unless you are shooting a portrait).
- Turn on self-timer or voice control. this rule should be followed in low light conditions. The fact is that touching the shutter button will slightly shake the smartphone, and with a long exposure, this will lead to blurry.
- Try to shoot with the rear (main) camera. in most cases it has a larger sensor, higher resolution and better sensitivity. Taking Selfie to the rear camera allows a monopod with a mirror.
- Forget digital zoom. get these thoughts out of your head! If you need to zoom in on the picture, just walk up to the subject. Some modern smartphones have optical zoom (the dual camera has lenses with different focal lengths). you can use it.
But stop thinking about preparation! It’s time to talk about how to set up the camera on your phone.

How to turn on audio in Zoom in a conference on a phone, computer if there is no sound
How do I turn on audio in a Zoom conference from my phone if you are a particIPant? Many users of this service and mobile application for Android, IPhone face a similar problem. Consider Possible Causes and Solutions for Smartphone / Tablet and Computer.
Why is there no sound in Zoom when entering a conference
If you are a member, received an invitation to join, try to enter through the program on your phone or from a laptop, then you will see a similar authorization form:
Pay attention to the “Do NOT connect sound” and “Disable mine” options. If you activate them, then after adding to the conference room your microphone and camera will be automatically disabled. You will not be seen or heard.
This is the first possible reason. When a user accidentally enters these options. Or they remained active by default after a previous online meeting.
How do I enable audio in a Zoom meeting in this case? We press once on the screen so that the toolbar appears at the bottom. Then on the left they click on the microphone icon. A “Call with embedded device audio” notification appears. In fact, this is a button that you can click to get the desired result.
If you see a red crossed-out microphone, you need to click on it to unlock it. If you DO NOT hear the organizer and other particIPants. Check if the speaker is turned on (icon at the top left), if the volume is sufficient:
Sound in Zoom on the computer is turned on in the same way. Via the control panel button. Additionally, you can open the menu of audio devices, select the required equIPment (if, for example, you have two microphones. External and built into a laptop).
There is also a “Settings” item in the menu. Go to the “sound” tab and we can check the equIPment performance. It is also recommended to check the option “Mute my microphone when connecting to a conference”. If necessary. Uncheck the box.
The organizer muted the Zoom meeting
If you checked all the options on your part, but nothing helped, then the “problem” is in the restrictions set by the creator of the communication session.
On the Member Management page, there is a Mute for All button at the bottom. This applies not only to current, but also to new particIPants who join the conference in Zoom. When the “Allow particIPants to turn on their sound” option is active in the operation confirmation window, the situation can be easily corrected (the method from the first part of the instruction will help). If the checkbox is removed, then you will NOT be able to bypass the ban.
Also, on the “Details” tab, the organizer can control the following parameters:
We recommend watching a selection of thematic instructions from our Youtube channel:
Fixing webcam recognition errors in the system
If the webcam is marked with a black arrow in Device Manager (disabled in Windows) Right-click on it and click enable.
When disabled in the operating system (by the user or programs), this is enough to make it work.
If the webcam is marked with an exclamation mark on a yellow triangle, which means: the device is not working properly, click the Delete command in the same context menu and restart the computer. The system will recognize it again and automatically reinstall the driver.
If it doesn’t help, click Update drivers:
Search for the Internet (if you are not sure that the correct driver is present in the system) or this computer (if the camera worked properly with the old driver or you have a fresh version).
Follow the further instructions of the wizard and restart Windows after the update.
Turn on the webcam from the keyboard
The function of turning on / off the webcam from the keyboard is not implemented in all laptop models. Where it is, a miniature image of the camera is applied to one of the keys. Most often this is the V key, sometimes Escape or others from the number F1-F12.
To turn on the web camera, press this key simultaneously with Fn. After that, the webcam should appear in the device manager. If you still have it, you probably have that rare case when it is physically broken or not connected.
Installing the driver
If, after turning on the webcam in hardware, something unidentified appears in the device manager, install the driver on it. It is best to download it from the website of the laptop manufacturer or the webcam itself, if you know its model for sure. Or install from a disk, if one was included with your device.
If you do not know the exact name of the laptop model. Turn it over. Each laptop has a sticker on the bottom cover where it is indicated.
This is how the branded label of the MSI MS-1757 laptop looks like:
Having identified the model, find it on the manufacturer’s website and download the driver for your operating system in the Support section. Install as a normal application, after installation, restart the machine.
By the way, there may not be a separate webcam driver for some OS versions, since it is included in Windows (USB Class Driver). Problems with this group of drivers are solved by installing updates or fixing Windows errors.
How to turn on the camera on a laptop

A webcam (webcam) is an integral part of the vast majority of laptops. It, unlike the Bluetooth adapter, is enabled by default and after the first start of the device is immediately ready for use. But what if you are trying to get an image from the camera, but it is not?
The main thing is not to panic. Situations when a webcam does not work on a mobile computer are more often associated with the fact that it is simply turned off or not installed in the operating system (failure of this device, fortunately, is rare). How to turn on the camera on a laptop and troubleshoot related problems, read below.
Checking the status of the webcam in the system
We start diagnosing any hardware problems by checking how it is displayed in the device manager. To open the manager, press the Windows R hotkeys (this will launch the Run application), enter the command devmgmt.Msc in the Open field and click OK. The method is convenient because it works in all versions of Windows.
In the manager window, expand the list of Imaging devices and see if our webcam is present there. The following options are possible:
- The webcams are in the equIPment lists. the computer does not see them. This happens due to a hardware shutdown or physical breakdown.
- There is no camera, but an unknown device is present, which, most likely, it is. This means that the computer sees it, but cannot recognize it. The reason is the lack of a driver.
- There is a camera on the list, but there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark or a black arrow in a circle near it. The first indicates a malfunction, the second indicates a shutdown in the operating system.
How to quickly check if the camera is working
To find out if your webcam works at all (it may not work in only one program, since it is disabled in the settings), go to the Webcammic Test service and click Check webcam.
If you see a request for permission to access the device for Adobe Flash Player, then everything is in order: the camera is working. Check Allow and check if an image appears on the screen.
If you see a message like in the screenshot below, then the camera is really not working. What to do in this case, we’ll figure it out further.
Programs for working with a web-camera
Many laptops come with webcam control software right out of the box, which can turn it on and off, among other things. These programs include:
- Asusecamutility.
- Asus Virtual Camera Utility.
- Asus Life Frame3 Utility.
- HP Cyberlink YouCam (installed via HP Recovery Manager).
- HP MediaSmart (installed via HP Recovery Manager).
- Lenovo EasyCapture.
- Acercrystaleyewebcam (installed by the manufacturer).
- Fujitsu FJ Camera.
- TOSHIBA Web Camera Application.
And many others. It is possible that your laptop also has a similar utility: look in the list of applications and check. The interface of such programs is designed for beginners, so it will be easy to figure out what turns on and off where, without instructions.
By the way, some users think that uninstalling the webcam control program will make the latter inoperable. The fears are in vain: the basic functions, which include turning on and off, do not suffer from this. they simply go to the operating system. And how to manage them using Windows tools, I hope you already understand.
Connecting the charger
One of the easiest ways to turn on a gadget. On some smartphones, the developers provide for the activation of the screen when the charger is connected, but this function is not available to everyone. The good news is that even if the phone does not turn on, it will definitely not be discharged, which means that the problem can be solved in the second way.
If during the execution of any actions the smartphone starts up in Recovery mode, this indicates that the problem is not mechanical damage to the button. In this case, in the Recovery menu, you must select the Reboot system now item or simply Reboot. After that the device will reboot and the problem should be resolved.
Note! If you managed to turn on the phone using one of the described methods, the solution to the problem does NOT end there. To avoid such difficulties in the future, you need to install a special program on Android that will replace the lock button and activate the screen if necessary.
How to turn on the phone if the power button is broken
If the power button on the phone does not work, it can be difficult to activate the display. There are several ways to solve the problem, which can be applied without the help of a wizard.
The power button is one of the most vulnerable spots on almost any phone. This has nothing to do with the manufacturers and the quality of the device, all the reasons lie in the active use of the button during the day. In addition, many users experience mechanical damage after being hit or dropped. It is clear that the power button is responsible for turning the device on and off, so it is important that it works correctly. However, even with a disabled button, you can launch Android. over, there are several ways to turn on the phone without the power button, in which we will describe in the framework of this article.
Double tap on the screen
Turning on the phone in this way is not possible with all manufacturers, however, this function may be available on your device.
Power on your phone via USB cable on PC
Users who have enabled the debugging function in the settings can turn on the device using a PC, without using the phone’s power button. To do this, follow these steps:
- Download and install on a computer Android Debug Bridge (ADB). a program that is designed for flashing touch phones.
- Connect the device to a computer using a USB cable.
- Open ADB console and enter adb reboot in the line.
In addition, the application allows you to configure root-rights and reflash the phone if required. A simpler version of the program is ADB Run. It can also be used to restart Android, even if the power button is not working.
Home button
Pressing the Home button, if provided on your phone. Home clamps need at least 10-15 seconds, and on some devices it may take about a minute.
The phone is not turned off, but is in sleep mode
If the phone has not turned off, but is simply in sleep mode (the screen is NOT active), you can turn it on without a button in several ways. The main rule in this case is not to allow a discharged battery. For gadgets with sufficient charge, we perform several actions in turn:
Volume control
Another way to turn on the device. To do this, just hold down the regulator to increase the sound or decrease it. If the screen is still locked, try holding the volume control simultaneously with the power button of the device or with the Home button.
Power Button Diagnostic Apps
Unfortunately, it will not work to solve the problem of the inoperative power button using the program at the time of the breakdown. However, there are several applications that can be installed in advance, for example, at the first sign that the button is junk. At the moment, the following applications and programs are available to users:
- Power button to Volume button. Already from the name it is clear that the main task of the program is to transfer the power-on function from the start button to the volume control.
- Gravity Screen. on / off. The application increases the sensitivity to device movement. If the phone is left on a horizontal surface for a long time, the screen is automatically locked. However, as soon as you lift or move the device, it turns on.
- Shake Screen on / off. A simple and easy-to-use application that can turn on the phone even without touching the screen. It is enough to gently shake the device to activate the display.
- Proximity Actions. A program that allows you to control your smartphone using special motion sensors.
Calling a blocked device from another phone
In this case, it is necessary to pick up the phone and reset, as a result of which the screen should be unlocked without a button.
How to turn on the second line (call waiting)
For example, we will write an instruction for Xiaomi Redmi 5 smartphones. On models of second companies, the actions are similar.
- Open the smartphone settings, go to “Applications”, System applications. “Your item may be called” All applications “.
- We are looking for the “Phone” application in the list and go there.
Find the Phone application
Go to Call Waiting
Activate the slider and enable the function
If you cannot find any of the items in the settings, use the search. In the top line, you can immediately type the Corresponding settings section or the name of the function. This feature is implemented on all Android smartphones of the latest generations.
Search for the required item by name
If call waiting is not working
Most mobile operators: MTS, Megafon, Tele2, Iota, Beeline and others have this service enabled by default. If after activating call waiting the second call is NOT received, you should contact your mobile network operator and ask to activate the service. To contact the operator Use the following numbers:
- For MTS subscribers 8 800 250 08 90.
- MegaFon network: call to 8 800 550 0500 or to short number 0500 from a mobile.
- Tele2 subscribers: 8 800 555 0611. Or by short number 611. After connecting, press 0 to connect with the employee.
- Subscribers Iota 8 (800) 550-00-07.
- For Beeline 8-800-700-0611 or 0611.
Why do you need a second line?
The most striking example is waiting for an urgent call at work or from relatives. Let’s say you are on the phone and someone else calls you. If the option of the second line (or “Call waiting”) is disabled, the person will receive short “Busy” tones. If call waiting is enabled in the settings, you will receive a second call and you can switch between them. In simple words:
