Via Wi-Fi
If the first time you turn it on, you do not receive a notification about connecting to the network, then you can open the corresponding tab through the settings. The required Settings button is located at the bottom of the remote.
When you find it, select the item called “Network Connection” in the Network tab. It is often the second to last on the list, with a planet icon, and a built-in instruction from the company pops up. Read it, then click on “Internet Connection Settings”. Select the desired Wi-Fi network to connect and enter the security key if necessary.
Of course, before that you need to turn on the router. If all the entered data match, then a message will immediately pop up about the successful connection to the wireless network.

Important: if you need to change any standard settings, you can do this in a special item “Manual settings” located on the right side of the screen.
It is also possible that you receive a notification about a request to enter your IP address and DNS server. To avoid additional hassle, select the “Automatic” option in the entire list.
Now you have connected the Internet to your LG TV and you can take full advantage of the full functionality.

How to go online from LG TV: tips from Borodach
Hello dear reader! Most likely you went to find out how to go online on an LG TV. In fact, it is quite simple and everything connects quickly and without any problems. First of all, you need to have an “Internet” at home. But not simple, namely connected via a router.
The point is that the TV cannot act as a gateway, so it must connect through a router. Also, plugging in a cable from the provider is not an option, so the Internet will not get there. The situation is similar with USB modems.
By wire
If you nevertheless decide to connect via cable, then just plug one end of the wire into the LAN port of the router.
There are usually several LAN ports and they differ from the WAN port in color or designation. An Internet cable from the provider is usually inserted into the WAN port, so if you have this, you can choose any free entrance and insert the cable there.
Now you need to find the same input on the back of the TV and insert it there. Now the connection light on the front of the router should light up. After that, nothing else needs to be done and the Internet, in theory, is already on the TV.
How to use the internet
How do I access the Internet on an LG TV? It’s very simple, almost all applications and programs that are installed in the device work exclusively through the global network. But the most revealing thing is to use a browser, which will remain signed as “Internet”. We go to the main menu and select the browser. After that, enter any address in the address bar and click “Go”. After that, you should be redirected to the desired page.
NOTE! If you have any difficulties with the connection, then write about it in the comments and I will help you.

Additionally, you can watch the following video, which clearly shows how to connect your LG TV to the wireless Internet:
Use an Ethernet cable whenever possible.
Although wireless connections have improved dramatically in recent years, Ethernet cables still provide more reliable connections in most homes. But since they connect to your wireless router, your TV must be relatively close to the router in order to use a wired connection. Of the four mainstream streaming devices, only the Apple TV has an Ethernet port on all of its models. For Amazon Fire TV Sticks and Google Chromecast, you’ll have to purchase an adapter separately, while Roku only includes one in the most expensive model. You can read more about choosing the right Ethernet cable in our guide here.
Connect HDMI cable
If you only plan on using your TV to stream from time to time, you can probably get by with an HDMI cable. Since it reflects whatever is on your laptop, tablet, or phone, you can use this method for things like sharing vacation photos or home videos.
Almost every laptop has a built-in HDMI port, so that’s all you need in this case. this is the cable itself. If you don’t have one at home yet, a new one usually costs about 10.
Connecting a smartphone or tablet usually requires an extra step. For Apple products, you’ll need a Lightning Digital AV Adapter, while most newer Android phones and tablets have a Type C (also known as USB-C) or Type D (Micro HDMI) connection. Depending on what type of Android device you are using, you may need to purchase an adapter.
Wireless connection
- Go to LG TV Settings.
- Select “Advanced settings” → “Network” → “Connect to a Wi-Fi network”.
- Select your home network in the list of Wi-Fi networks.
- Enter your password and connect to the internet. As a reminder, the Wi-Fi password is case sensitive: do not confuse uppercase and lowercase letters!
Use a Blu-ray player or game console
If you’ve purchased a Blu-ray player or game console in the past decade, you probably already have everything you need to connect your TV to Wi-Fi. Even the Playstation 3 (2006–2013) and Xbox 360 (2001–2013) consoles were equipped with Internet connectivity. Of course, you won’t have access to as many apps as a dedicated streaming device, but you won’t have problems downloading popular services like Netflix and Hulu.
Blu-ray players are more convenient. If you have an older model, it may not have internet connectivity. But most of the models released in the past five years or so all advertise their streaming as a key argument. If you’d rather buy a new Blu-ray player instead of a streaming device, most Wi-Fi models are around 70.

How to set up wired internet on your TV
Probably many, if not all, would like to have the Internet on a regular TV, so I want to share my experience on how to do this. Earlier on a blog, my colleague wrote about connecting a Samsung TV to the network via twisted pair cable and wireless Wi-Fi. Despite the fact that models from all kinds of manufacturers have a different interface, the principle of connecting to the global network remains unchanged. At the same time, some people find it easier to navigate and configure the Internet on a TV, when the whole principle is painted and shown on a model from a specific manufacturer.
Therefore, I decided to write this guide that will help everyone who wants to use the Internet on their TV. Immediately I draw your attention to the fact that in some TVs, although there is an Ethernet port on the panel, it will not work to connect it to the World Wide Web. In such models, the LAN port can be used, for example, for flashing a TV
I recommend connecting devices such as a TV or a system unit using a twisted pair cable with a direct compression method, since a LAN cable, unlike a Wi-Fi wireless network, is less susceptible to external factors and has a higher data transfer rate. Of course, new standards 802.11ac or 802.11ad are not affected by negative external influences, but not all devices can work with these standards. By the way, if you do not want cables to get tangled under your feet, then you can use PLC technology (Internet through an outlet).
So, you can connect your LG TV to the Internet via a LAN cable in such cases:
- if the TV you are using does not have the Wi-Fi function, there is no external auxiliary device (adapter), there is no desire to use a wireless connection to connect to the Internet;
- when there is no network device (modem, router with Wi-Fi function) either, it is not possible to connect the TV to the Internet without using a cable.
- Internet connection using a router;
- LAN connection (direct) with a network cable from the provider.
If your TV does not have a PPPoE connection or L2TP (not provided by the design), then it is not yet possible to connect it to the provider’s network directly. Also, in the case when the IPoE connection technology (static or dynamic IP) is used, it is not easy to connect either. As a rule, such providers bind the Internet to the MAC address of the connected device (computer or TV), but there are still exceptions.
Settings for Smart TV
How to connect the Internet in different ways on the TV is now clear, but for the full use of the capabilities of Smart TV, just one connection to the World Wide Web is not enough.
Via Wi-Fi
How to connect a modern TV to the Internet via a cable was discussed above. But this is not the only way to get Internet access on your TV. You can do without laying wires around the apartment using a wireless connection. To connect the TV to the Internet (wireless) through a router, you need a minimum of steps, provided that the device has a Wi-Fi module. Before making the configuration, you will need to prepare information about the name of your network and remember the password for it. Further, taking the remote control in hand, with the device turned on, do the following:
- Turn on the device and go to the menu by pressing the desired button.
- Next, in the settings you need to select “Network” and “Network Settings”.
- After that, select the type of connection, in this case. wireless.
- The device will start searching for the Web environment, and after a short period of time it will display a list of it (it will display, in addition to yours, the networks of neighbors if you live in an apartment building).
- Select your network, and after pressing the “Ok” button on the remote control, you will need to enter the password in the appropriate line. After a moment, a window will appear with a message that the connection has been established and the power on has been successful. If it doesn’t, find out why the TV won’t connect to Wi-Fi.
Direct connection with a network cable from the provider
Here, almost everything is the same as in the previous method. If your provider uses the “Dynamic IP” connection technology (you can check with the support). then just connect the cable to the TV and everything works.
If there is no Wi-Fi module
How to connect a TV without a built-in module to the Internet via WI-FI, but with the ability to use an external device? Everything is very simple. you need to purchase a Wi-Fi adapter and connect it to the USB port of your TV receiver.
Then, having entered the settings, select “Network”, “Network settings: wireless” and press the OK button located on the remote control. You will see a menu in which we select the desired connection.
- “Setting from the list of access points (AP)”. selected if you have data for authorization and information about the name of your home network.
- “Easy Installation (WPS Button Mode)”. is used if your router supports the ability to automatically establish a connection to Wi-Fi. This method can be called the simplest, since all that is required of you is to select this item and press the “WPS” button (holding it for a few seconds) located on the router. The setting will take place in automatic mode.
- “Network setup (Ad hoc)” is intended if you want to set up a connection with your computer without Internet access, that is, a local.
Through a router
To connect the TV set to the Internet via a router, you will need to connect the LAN ports of both devices with a cable of the required length (purchased separately).
Now you can turn on the device and start debugging:
- Press the “Home” button on the remote control and enter the menu in which you need to select “INSTALLATION”.
- Now, by going to the “Network” tab, click on “Network Setup: Wired”.
- Most often, you need to select automatic IP configuration (when using a broadband router or modem that supports DHCP).
- In a situation where manual data entry is required to connect, select “Manual IP Setting”.
- After clicking on OK, the TV set will start checking the Web settings, and when finished, a message will appear on the screen that the connection can be considered established.
IN SONY BRAVIA
The whole connection procedure for a SONY BRAVIA TV (Sony Bravia) is similar to that described above for other brands of devices. But connecting Smart TV to the Internet and setting up Smart-functions are somewhat different from those considered.
- First, press the key on the remote labeled “Home”.
- Click on the button with the image of a suitcase in the corner of the window and go to the “Settings” menu.
- In this window, select the item “Network”.
- Now click on “Update Internet Content”.
- A connection to the Sony Entertainment Network server will start to configure the services that are currently available.
- After the end of the tincture, Bravia will display a message with a recommendation to return to the main menu by pressing the “Home” button. But you need to ignore this offer and click on the “SEN” button, after which you will see a list of channels with video and a list of applications, both foreign and Russian.
- It may take some time for the Sony unit to update. By clicking on the sign “” or “All applications”, you will see the entire list.
- Having decided on the choice of content, click “Open”, after which the broadcast will begin.
- The TV channel you like can be added to the quick access list by clicking on “Add to my applications”. The list appears initially when you press the “SEN” key.
How to connect and set up Internet on LG TV
LG Smart TVs are used to connect to Wi-Fi through a router or to a special LAN cable. It is important to properly connect the Internet to your LG TV for a stable connection.
Connecting via a router
This option assumes no direct connection. Thanks to the settings, TV is connected to the network and provided with the Internet. No special router settings are required. For Wi-Fi to work when watching TV, a DHCP server is used. Its activation is carried out in the connection parameters. In the future, the TV will be connected in automatic mode if you set up a wireless network.
LG TV is connected to the router. For this, a network cable is inserted into the standard LAN port. The supplied TV or router cables are short, so the longer ones are purchased separately. One end is connected to the router into a free LAN type connector, the other to the Ethernet port.
Connecting via a router
A cable connection guarantees a stable connection compared to a wireless one. The main disadvantage is the presence of wires in the room. When using wireless, the signal quality is checked to prevent problems with video transmission.
A window will open on the TV screen with a message confirming the required connection has been established. The internet will now work. No additional steps required.
The final stage of configuration through a router
Direct connection via LAN cable
If necessary, you can set up a Wi-Fi network on your LG TV using a LAN cable. There is no need for auxiliary devices. Connection is possible using technologies:
- L2TP, PPPoE;
- Static or dynamic IP.
In the future, it is required to set up TV taking into account the technology used, since the list of necessary equipment depends on this and the specifics of connecting television equipment is determined.
-
Dynamic IP. The TV is connected to the Internet directly. The method is simple and does not require special equipment. A router is not required for the procedure. The cable from the Internet can be inserted into the TV connector. Then the connection will be made automatically. Additional parameter changes are not required. Setting is carried out in automatic mode.
Dynamic IP configuration is automatic
Static IP. You will need to set up TV for the Internet to work. Take into account the network parameters from the Internet service provider, and they must be entered correctly. Be sure to use the LAN cable provided by your ISP. The cable is inserted into the Ethernet connector of the television equipment. Then go to the network parameters. This requires a TV remote control: Settings (gear drawing). Network. Wired Ethernet connection. Remove the check mark from the parameter responsible for automatic settings. The control is carried out in manual mode. They register the parameters from the Internet provider and click the “Connect” button.
With a static IP, enter your Internet settings
Before connecting the TV to a Wi-Fi network, take into account the technology used and the specifics of the setup process.
Wireless connection
Sometimes television equipment can connect to the Internet wirelessly. A prerequisite is the presence of a built-in module. The relevant information is contained in the TV manual. If there is no built-in module, use an external adapter. The device is purchased separately, taking into account the technical parameters and is used for installation in a USB connector.
If there is a built-in module or an adapter is connected, go to the network settings. Actions are carried out through the wireless setting item. In the future, act according to one of the following options:
-
List of access points for connecting to the Internet. The item is used when the name of the network is known and the password combination is set, with which you can turn on the Internet for TV, by analogy with other devices. In this case, all networks to which you can connect will be available. You need to choose a suitable name and enter the correct password. If the names of the networks are presented in encrypted form, the name of the desired Wi-Fi is entered independently.
A branded Wi-Fi adapter will come in handy if you don’t have a Smart TV
EG offers an external adapter for models of TVs produced under its own brand, so it is easier to embed and configure them for further wireless connection to the Internet.
Instructions for models on webOS
The manual is suitable for modern models running on the new LG webOS system.
Internet setup on LG webOS
Initially, the settings are opened. The quick settings section will be available. You will need to go to the “Advanced settings” item. Go to “Network” and select a Wi-Fi connection. Select a home network, enter a password. When connected, a checkmark will appear confirming the connection.
After you manage to properly set up the Internet on your LG TV, a stable connection with the network will be provided for watching videos on available sites and on YouTube.
Wired connection (LAN)
Connect the LAN port located on the back of the TV to an available port of the router using a network cable of the required length (cable is not supplied with the TV).
Open the Smart menu by pressing the Home button on the remote control; and select the INSTALLATION item ;. 3. In the window that opens, go to the NETWORK tab ;, the Network settings: wired;.

Wireless connection (WI-FI)
Check the User’s Guide to see if your TV model has a built-in WI-FI module. If your model does not have it, you can connect your TV via the LG AN-WF100 WI-FI USB adapter (sold separately). Connect the WI-FI adapter to a free USB port on the TV.
Before connecting, you need to configure the access point. It is recommended to place it no closer than one meter from the TV set to avoid interference and conflicts with the remote control. If a wireless network connection is available for your TV, the following item will appear on the settings screen: Network settings: wireless;.
Select it by pressing the OK button on the remote.
In the window that appears, select the desired connection method:
