Physical password reset
How to reset the BIOS password if you could not reset the password with the above utilities, then try the following methods
- Remove the battery on the motherboard and wait a couple of minutes. As soon as you pulled it out, be sure to pull out the power cord from your system unit or the battery on the laptop, then press the power button, your fans will spin a little and the residual energy will go away.
On laptops, you can still try to close the contacts where the battery is, just before that, do not forget to remove the battery
- On most motherboards, you can find the clear CMOS button
it is most often located next to the battery. To clear CMOS memory
you need to close these connectors, then turn on the PC and re-set the BIOS settings.

how to reset BIOS password with master codes
I already described the principle in the article How to reset the BIOS password on ASUS. This method is suitable for both aser or e-machine laptops, and others. What we do is turn on your laptop and try to enter the BIOS. We see the password input.
we enter the wrong password several times, any will be wrong, the chance to guess is scanty.
A menu appears in which you select Enter Unlock Password.
Here you are required to enter a certain master code, below I will teach you how to get it. We write down the code 54697781 to ourselves, it will help us to crack the BIOS password
Now we need to use the descramblers, I will show you two online.
At the bottom in the field Enter the code here we paste the copied above 54697781, you will have your own code.
We see everything, we received two master passwords, the lower one will suit us, and we can now crack the BIOS password
The meaning is the same, enter the code and click Get Password.
Enter this code and you’re done. As you can see, I managed to remove the password in the BIOS.
The only thing you need to do is change the password to an empty one in the BIOS, this is done on the Security Set Supervisor Password tab.
Enter the current password, the one that we generated, and leave the new one blank, then press F10 and save the settings.
Using the debug.exe utility
There is a debug.exe utility in Windows XP and it lies in WINDOWSsystem32debug.exe. You can also use it, but only in the DOS version, how to start it from there, read the link above about ISO DOS. Download debug Windows 7 mo on the link, it weighs only 20 kb.
Run debug.exe and enter our codes for each BIOS version.
- q. quit
- the first number on each line is the port
- the second is the number of bytes (in hexadecimal)
- in the command prompt window enter exit (or just close the window);

how to reset BIOS password
There are times when people try to achieve maximum security, or vice versa, do dirty tricks by setting a password to enter the BIOS. Let me remind you that BIOS is a firmware that helps your hardware to communicate with each other, if so superficially. Having access to the BIOS, you essentially get access to the brains of your laptop or computer, it is in it that hardware settings are made or boot priorities are set for installing a system from a USB flash drive or booting from a PXE server. Naturally, if this is a computer of an organization, then the security service may require the system administrator to set a password there, for those who are especially curious, or there may be a situation that hardware manufacturers may block access there, and you need to flash the BIOS, situations are different. The main thing is that the task is to reset the BIOS password
and you as an engineer must be able to do this.
How to reset wi-fi password on GoPro in minutes
Surely you started reading this article for a reason. Let’s try to guess: you tried to connect to the Wi-Fi that comes from the GoPro camera, but nothing worked. Using this function on a smartphone, you can view already captured frames or see how the device “looks” at the outside world (live view option). All this can be arranged with a couple of clicks, only a password and login are required. When they are not saved in the phone, and the memory fails, you need to change the password directly on the camera.
Unfortunately, the official Wi-Fi password reset guide posted on the GoPro website does not provide answers to questions. In it I would like to find step-by-step instructions with a clear explanation. However, in such cases, you have to resort to unofficial methods that are not very easy to find in the omniscient Google. We want to share information with all owners of the device so that everyone can 100% unleash the capabilities of GoPro.

Setting a password in BIOS
Before describing the process of resetting a password, you first need to know how to install it, remove it, and also whether it is effective to install it to protect your computer specifically on the BIOS.
Setting a password in BIOS to protect your computer is considered more effective for several reasons. If, for example, you set a password when entering the operating system, then it can be easily hacked programmatically or even bypassed (for example, through safe mode). It is unlikely that you can do the same in the BIOS. This is the first plus. In addition, the password set in the BIOS is requested immediately when the computer is turned on (even before the operating system is turned on), so those who do not know the combination will not even be able to turn on the computer. To enter the BIOS settings and change or delete the password, you will also need to enter the existing code, and this is another plus for such protection.
Of course, any protection can be hacked or bypassed, and BIOS is no exception. To do this, you just need to open the system unit or laptop and perform certain manipulations. But not everyone will be able to cope with such a task, and quite often such users simply turn to specialists at the service center.
So how do you set a password on a BIOS? First you need to restart your computer (or just turn it on if it was turned off before) and enter the BIOS by pressing the “Delete” button. You can click several times until the BIOS opens. there is nothing wrong with that. But not all BIOS calls are made using this button. It all depends on the computer / laptop and the installed motherboard. You can find out which key calls up the BIOS when you turn on the computer (even before the operating system is loaded). the required key will be written at the bottom of the screen. It can be “Delete”, “F1”, “F2”, “F10”, etc.
You can set the BIOS password by going to the “Security” tab of the BIOS Setup menu
After the BIOS opens, you need to find the item “BIOS Setting Password” in the main menu. After pressing the “Enter” button, a small window will open in which you can set a password. The maximum possible combination size also depends on the BIOS, for example, 6 characters. So, in this case, you can come up with a good password up to 6 characters, enter it and press the “Enter” key. At the same time, it is advisable to write this combination somewhere else. Further, the system will give the user another similar window where he will need to confirm the password. You must re-enter the same code and click “Enter”. After that, the system will display the message “Password installed” (ie, the password is set) and you can click “OK”.
That’s it, the combination is set, but it will only be requested when trying to enter the BIOS. The computer, as before, will turn on without a password. If you need to make sure that the code is requested even when the computer is turned on, then you will need to perform one more configuration.
In the same menu, you need to find the “Advanced BIOS Features” tab and click on it. Then you need to find the item “Password Check”. Usually opposite it is the item “Setup”, which means that the combination will be requested only when entering the BIOS. In this case, you will need to change this parameter to another. “Always”. Now the installed code will be requested both when you turn on the computer and when you try to enter the BIOS. All that remains is to save all the changes. To do this, press the “F10” key, and then. “Enter”. The computer (or laptop) will immediately reboot, and when turned on, a window will appear asking for a password. It is necessary to enter the set combination and press the “Enter” key. After that, the operating system will start loading.
The loss of the BIOS password is especially difficult. password to boot the system. In this situation, it turns out that if the user has forgotten the code from the BIOS, then he will not even turn on the computer. In addition, he will not be able to enter the BIOS to try to reinstall Windows, thereby resetting the password. Such cases quite often end with the purchase of a new motherboard (this is where the BIOS is stored). However, all this can be avoided by taking advantage of some of the weaknesses of the computer architecture. Despite the fact that the BIOS is considered to be quite a powerful means of protection, there are still “secret paths” with which you can bypass the password set in the BIOS. Fortunately, the developers of motherboards foresaw the likelihood of such situations and deliberately left several options (“back doors”) with which you can reset the password on the BIOS.
Removing BIOS password
If the user is tired of constantly entering the code when turning on the computer or he just wants to delete it, then you need to do the following:
- Go to BIOS and select “BIOS Setting Password”.
- When a window with a new password appears, you do not need to enter anything, just press the “Enter” key.
- When the message “Password uninstalled” appears (ie the password is removed), press “Enter” again.
- Save the result by pressing the “F10” key and then “Enter”.
The password will be removed. But this is not yet a password reset, but only deleting it. You will need to reset the password if the user does not know (or has forgotten) the required combination.
How to reset BIOS password?
There are several ways how to remove the password in BIOS:
- using a battery;
- using the emergency CMOS button;
- using the DOS environment.
Without the motherboard battery, all your BIOS settings (not just the password) will be reset to factory defaults
The first two are the BIOS battery and the emergency button. These parts are found on the motherboard. The battery acts as a constant recharge to save all data. In this case, this very BIOS battery will be able to help reset the unknown code: for this you need to remove it for a while (preferably for a day). Then you need to return the battery to its original place and you can turn on the computer.
The method is effective, but long, and time is a very valuable resource that a user or IT specialist may not have. In addition, on some motherboard models, the battery is very difficult to remove, especially on laptops. It is because of such features that this option becomes not very practical and is used only in extreme cases.
A more practical way, which is described in the instructions for the motherboard, is to use the CMOS emergency button. Many motherboards have connectors for clearing CMOS memory. As a rule, such connectors are located near the battery. You can find out the exact location using the instructions for the motherboard or on the manufacturer’s official website. To clear the CMOS memory, you need to press this button, after which the unknown code will be reset (of course, before that you need to turn off the computer from the outlet and spin up the system unit). Then you can turn on the computer.
And the last option, how to unlock the forgotten code, using the DOS environment. But for this you need to boot into pure DOS, and not the emulator from Windows. You can remove the password using certain combinations. For example, for Award and Ami BIOS, you need to enter the following:
And for Phoenix BIOS, the command will look like this:
The letter “O” stands for “output”, “Q” for “quit”, the first number is the port, and the second is the number of bytes (hexadecimal).
These are the ways you can get access to a locked computer. You also need to remember that resetting a BIOS password is quite expensive, especially on laptops. Therefore, it is highly discouraged for paranoid people and those who like to set passwords wherever possible, to put it on the BIOS. you can do without it. Otherwise, after a year or two, such users will forget the password, and perhaps this unnecessary precaution will cost them a pretty penny.

Three Ways to Reset Windows 7 Password: Easy, Hard, and Wrong
We remind you that attempts to repeat the actions of the author can lead to the loss of the warranty for the equipment and even to its failure. The material is provided for informational purposes only. If you are going to reproduce the steps described below, we strongly advise you to carefully read the article to the end at least once. 3DNews editors are not responsible for any possible consequences.
Windows has long used SAM to store and manage passwords for all users. All information in it is well protected, so in order to find out the password, you will have to spend a lot of time and resources, especially if it is complex enough. Most often, however, it is not at all required to find out the password. it is enough to reset it or change it. For this, several utilities have been developed, one of which we will use. Another important point. it is obvious that when the OS is running, it will not allow you to just break into the password store. Therefore, you need to make sure that your computer supports booting from CD / DVD or USB media in order to run the necessary utilities.
The most famous of them is the Offline NT Password and Registry editor, which can work with passwords and the registry in Windows XP / Vista / 7. Download the USB or CD version of the utility, burn the downloaded image to a disc, or use our tips for creating a multiboot flash drive. The utility does not have a graphical interface, but you should not be intimidated by this. everything in it is quite simple and straightforward. In addition, an often desired option is offered by default. so all you have to do is press the Enter key.
Boot from removable media Offline NT Password and Registry editor. You are unlikely to need additional boot options, but in some cases you will have to empirically find those that will help the utility start. The next step is to select the number of the partition on which Windows is installed. You will have to navigate first of all by its size. In principle, until the very last moment, the program does not make any changes to Windows, so in case of an error, you can simply start the password reset procedure again.
Then the utility will ask you to specify the path to the folder where the SAM files are located (in fact, this is a registry hive). By default, this is X: / Windows / System32 / config, which is also offered by the program at the beginning. Then you need to select the first item (Password reset), since we are going to reset the password.
Then everything is simple. Select the first item (Edit user data and password) and enter the username or user ID in the format 0xabcd, where abcd is the RID specified in the first column. The RID is useful if the username is displayed incorrectly or cannot be entered. For example, when using Cyrillic.
It remains to specify item 1 (password reset) or 2 (password change) for the selected user. Exit the password editing mode by entering an exclamation mark and pressing Enter.
Everything is almost ready. Enter q, press Enter, and then agree to the change by typing y and pressing Enter again. We refuse further work in the Offline NT Password and Registry editor (n), remove the USB flash drive or CD-disk and press the coveted AltCtrlDel combination to reboot. Done. password reset!
It was an easy way to reset your Windows 7 password. It shouldn’t be too difficult. You just need to be careful and careful. Problems can arise only in the absence of the necessary drivers to work with the hard disk. Then you have to put them on a floppy disk (if, of course, you find a living representative of this almost extinct species and a working drive for it) or on a USB flash drive and at the first stage select the item fetch additional drivers.
For the second and third methods, you only need the Windows 7 installation disc and nothing else. A more complex option involves enabling the initially hidden Administrator account by editing the registry from the Windows 7 installation environment. In the future, it will be possible to log in under this account and edit any other account in the OS. By default, the “Administrator” has no password, which only plays into our hands.
So, we boot from the installation disk and press ShiftF10 to call the command line, where we drive in regedit and press Enter to launch the registry editor.
Select the section HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, and in the menu select “File” → “Load hive.” (File → Load hive.). We need to open the SAM file, which is located in the \ Windows \ System32 \ config folder on the partition where Windows 7 is installed. When opening, you will be prompted to enter the name of the hive to load. type in any.
Now you need to select the section HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ bust_name \ SAM \ Domains \ Account \ Users \ 000001F4 and double-click on the F key. An editor will open in which you need to go to the first number in line 038. this is 11. It must be changed to 10. Be careful and make no mistake. you only need to change it, without adding or removing other numbers!
Now we need to select our hive HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ bush_name \ and from the menu select “File” → “Unload hive.” (File → Unload hive.), and then confirm unloading the hive.
That’s it, you can reboot by pulling out the pre-installation disk and log into the system under an administrator account. In the Windows Control Panel, in the User Management section, you can change the settings for another account. Including change password.
There is one last way, the wrong one. Why wrong? Because we will deal with the substitution of system files, and this is an ignoble business. What is the main idea? It’s simple. by default, the OS has the function of detecting sticky keys. You probably came across it at least once, and if not, then just quickly press Shift at least 5 times, and you will see such a wonderful window:
This window belongs to a small utility program sethc.exe, which is located in the Windows system directory. over, it even runs on the welcome screen when you are prompted to select a user and enter a password. But you can replace it with something useful. For example, cmd.exe. Naturally, not directly in the running OS, but by booting from the Windows 7 installation disk and pressing ShiftF10.
You need to start by determining the drive letter on which Windows is installed. The easiest thing is to simply view the contents of the root of the section with the dir command. C: will most likely be seen as D: but not necessarily.
Having decided on the volume letter, we execute two simple commands. one copy, just in case, the original sethc.exe file to the root of the disk or wherever you like, and the second we change it to cmd.exe.
Reboot, quickly press the Shift key (or Ctrl, or Alt) several times and observe the command line window. In it, you need to enter one more command, substituting the name of the desired user and the new password, respectively. Other parameters of this command can be found in the official help.
If you want to return everything to square one, then you need to boot from the installation disk again, open the console and run the command:
However, you can not restore anything, but leave such a small trick in the system just in case. In addition to the methods listed above, there are many other methods for resetting or recovering a password in Windows, but we will not cover them for now. Once again, we urge our readers to be careful and careful when working with the insides of the OS, and even better not to bring the situation to a “surgical” intervention in SAM. Successful recovery of access to your accounts!
