This option is not available in the basic configuration. This can be done only through additionally installed applications. The company takes the privacy of personal information very seriously.

Where are voice recorder recordings stored on iPhone

Sound files recorded on the voice recorder are stored in the application itself. When you start the program, a list of audio recordings available on the device appears. Files are placed in the chronology of creation, indicating the date and duration of each.

Apple cares about the safety of information, so it provided users of Apple devices with the ability to create an iCloud backup. Cloud storage of several terabytes will contain all the necessary information. However, it costs Honor that 5 GB is provided for free.

You can create a backup copy manually or configure the automatic backup function. To copy, you need a wireless Internet connection and a power supply.

Voice recorder recordings are stored in the application itself

Note! Files that are sent to the trash do not disappear without a trace. Some time (depending on the selected option in “Clean up Deleted Data”) are stored in the “Recently Deleted” folder. If you delete files from this folder by mistake, you can recover without loss of recording quality.

How to set up voice recorder on iPhone

The function of creating audio recordings has been available since the days of the iOS 3.0 operating system. The first voice recorder had limited capabilities:

  • creation of monochrome audio recording;
  • listening;
  • file storage and deletion.

In this form, it existed for a long time. Voice Recorder iOS 12.0 and later is a true audio editor that allows you to:

  • create a record;
  • edit (trim, duplicate an existing record);
  • share by sending to e-mail, social networks, instant messengers or save to the “Files” folder;
  • adjust the sound quality;
  • set the frequency of cleaning deleted files;
  • customize geo-contextual names of audio files.

Setting up the voice recorder does not take long. The updated version of the application has some small subtleties. In particular, in the voice recorder settings, the Siri and Search tab contains the Quick Commands function to make the program easier to use. The function makes it possible to control the recorder using voice commands. You can use the requests offered by mobile assistants by clicking on the icon. or set your own, saving them for Siri.

Using the “Clean up Deleted Data” tab, you can set the optimal deadline for permanently deleting files that have already been placed in the trash.

Note! For the scrupulous, the item “Never” has been added, which includes the eternal storage of deleted audio recordings. However, keep in mind that unused files will clog your phone or tablet memory.

When you select “Never”, all deleted files will be stored forever in the “Recently Deleted” folder

The “Geo-contextual titles” function has appeared in the settings, after activating which new audio recordings will be automatically named with the address where the recording was made. However, when geolocation is turned off, the function is useless and the files will still be saved as a “New entry” with a sequential number. Both in the first and in the second case, the name of the files can be changed manually.

One of the most important tabs in the recorder settings is “Sound quality”, which contains two items “Compressed” and “Lossless”. The recorded voice information in a compressed form will have less weight, which means it will not take up much space in the phone’s memory. When choosing the second option, the sound quality will be much better, but the weight of such a file, accordingly, will be much larger. This mode is more useful for professionals or in the case when recording is carried out in difficult conditions (extraneous noise, poor sound). For domestic use, the “Compressed” mode is quite enough.

When the geo-contextual names of the record are enabled, the address where the file was created will be automatically assigned as the name

For your information! To adjust the volume, you need to move the device closer or further away from the sound source. If it is not possible to bring the device closer, you can connect an external microphone, with which the recorded voice will be more clear.

By selecting the “Edit Recording” tab on the iPhone, and “Edit” on the iPad, a black working screen with a red “Replace” button at the bottom of the field, a sound track in the center and a blue square above it will appear. After clicking on the square, another screen will appear with two audio tracks. The top track has two yellow sliders at the beginning and end of the recording. The lower one is enclosed in a yellow frame with direction arrows (oscillogram overview). What you need to do to trim an audio recording:

Replacing the “Home” button with “iPhone-5S

When the Home button on iPhone-5S is not working, non-opening fixes may not help. Then you just have to try to open the phone. But to perform this procedure, the specialist who will perform this work needs not only the appropriate tools, but also qualifications. Therefore, it is better to take the iPhone to a service center and use its services. After all, its employees have already carried out this operation more than once and know well how to repair such breakdowns.

Home button software problems

One of the reasons why the Home button on the iPhone-5S does not work. updating the operating system to iOS 10. After installing this update, it turns out that after pressing the button when turning on the phone, it does not enter the PIN-code input mode. And it feels like the button has broken.

There are two ways to solve this problem. First, get used to the fact that in iOS 10 you need to double-click a button. This is the easiest way. Secondly, you can go to the main settings of the phone, select the “Universal access” category, and in it the “Home” category and select “Apply finger”. After this operation, the phone will return to its previous reactions to your actions. But most likely, you will have to get used to such features of the operating system. It is likely that in future versions there will be no such return.

Home button on iPhone-5S not working: how to fix the problem?

Apple smartphones are not only among the most expensive gadgets in the world, but are also renowned for their reliability. Therefore, they have a lot of admirers and users, despite the high cost. Quite often you can meet users who have not yet abandoned the models of the fourth and even third series. But now let’s talk about the iPhone-5S, which was released at the end of 2013 and is a fairly new model. But nevertheless, everything done by human hands breaks down from time to time.

But do not rush to run to the service center and carry your iPhone for repair, maybe not everything is so bad. One of the most common malfunctions can be voiced like this: the Home button on the iPhone-5S does not work. What could be the causes of such a malfunction, and how to fix them?

Programmatic method for solving the problem

If the above methods did not lead to the desired result, and the question why the Home button on the iPhone-5S does not work remains open, you can use the programmatic method to solve this issue. This is a temporary measure to help you use your smartphone. It is impossible to call the option convenient, but it is better than a completely inoperative button. How to do it?

It is necessary to bring the image of the Home button to the smartphone screen. To do this, you need to go to the iPhone settings. In the settings, select the “General” tab. Then, as described earlier, go to the “Universal Access” category. Next, go to the AssistiveTouch category, after which four options for continuing the event appear on the screen, as shown in the figure above. We select the Home button. After that, on the screen of your iPhone there will be an application that simulates pressing this button. For a while, this will be the solution to your problem. However, it is not perfect, and you may be a little annoyed, but it will allow you to use the phone until you get to the service center.

Causes of the malfunction

In fact, there can be several reasons why the Home button on the iPhone-5S does not work. And they fall into three categories:

  • Mechanical.
  • Software.
  • Technological.

Let’s take a look at what can be attributed to mechanical failures leading to the iPhone-5S’s Home button not working. This category of malfunctions can be caused by the ingress of dust or moisture under the button itself or mechanical damage to it due to shock or excessive pressure. Most often, such issues are resolved using the service center.

Home Button Calibration

Some users of an expensive gadget have noticed that when the “Home” button on the “iPhone-5S” does not work well, its calibration helps. How to do it? Let’s figure it out.

To carry out such a procedure, you need to display any application on the iPhone screen, and then, holding down the Power button, wait for the “Turn off” slider to appear. After that, hold down and hold the “Home” button. After ten seconds, the application will close. The system will then calibrate the button. This will eliminate the system software crash associated with it.

The chemical way to solve the problem

Quite often, the reason that the Home button on the iPhone-5S stopped working is its contamination. This happens if the phone is taken with greasy hands or spilled drinks get on it, flowing under the body. A fairly effective way in this case is to use WD-40 aerosol or isopropyl alcohol, which is part of many windshield wipers. It is important to remember that the chemical must be applied to the button, not to the screen. Errors can lead to additional problems. After this application, you must repeatedly press the button and allow the liquid to fall under it. The cleaning agent will then remove grease or beverage residues and the button will function as before.

Home button repair on iPhone-5S at home

Let’s talk first about the tools needed to open a phone if the Home button on the iPhone-5S doesn’t work. The minimal set of tools looks like this:

  • Tweezers.
  • CPT scapula.
  • Star screwdriver for iPhone.
  • Phillips screwdriver.
  • Sucker.

First you need to unscrew the two screws next to the power connector. Then, while holding the screen with the suction cup and using the CPT spatula, detach the screen and the phone case. The disconnection operation must be carried out carefully enough so as not to damage the touch-cable of the screen. Using the CPT-spatula, unclip the touchscreen connector and raise the screen. Next, use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the screws securing the shield of the screen module cable, and disconnect it.

Then, from the display module, unscrew the three screws and remove the “Home” button together with its cable. She looks as shown in the photo.

After that, it is advisable to replace the broken Home button with a new one, and it is better that it be original. Of course, the copy will cost a little less, but you will have to change it more often. Then the iPhone is reassembled. In this case, it should be remembered that the screws must be screwed in exactly the places from where they were unscrewed.

Customizing the AssistiveTouch Menu

Yesterday we learned what the virtual Home button on the iPhone screen is, that in the settings it is called AssistiveTouch and learned how to enable and disable it. When pressed, the virtual button on the screen turns into a menu with 6 buttons, some of them contain a number of other functions, for example, the Device button.

Such a number of buttons and subsections in this menu is not convenient for everyone, so we decided to configure AssistiveTouch and create our own menu for the iPhone’s on-screen virtual button, leaving only the necessary elements. We will form several options, one of which you can choose for yourself. For those who do not like the menu options, you can create your own.

Where to customize the AssistiveTouch on-screen button

The first thing we will do is set the transparency of the virtual button itself, which is constantly located on the screen in idle mode. If it is an eyesore, then we will make it more transparent, if, on the contrary, the user has a vision problem, then the transparency in standby mode can be turned off and the virtual button will be clearly visible on the iPhone screen, as if in a touch state.

The degree of transparency, like other AssistiveTouch settings, can be found here:

Launch the Settings app, go to General, then Accessibility and AssistiveTouch. Here we select. Opacity at rest, and set the degree of transparency of the virtual Home button.

Only Home. Broken home button

If the physical Home button does not work on the iPhone, without 3D-Touch support, then some users configure the virtual button on the screen in such a way that when it is pressed, the menu does not open, but simply the usual pressing of the usual Home button is triggered, for this they make the following setting:

  • In the settings of AssistiveTouch actions go to the section. One touch.
  • And they choose. Home

Now you do not need to make unnecessary movements by pressing the virtual button, the usual pressing of the Home button works, without displaying the AssistiveTouch menu. The function will be relevant for users of the new iPhone X, who in no way can wean themselves from the button!

But if in the menu with the AssistiveTouch settings in your iPhone model there is a subsection. 3D Touch, and this option is enabled, then it is enough to press down the virtual button a little and it will also work, but this is not very convenient, since the virtual 3D Touch Home does not work when double clicked to call, for example, the multitasking panel.

AssistiveTouch menu if the Power button is broken

If the iPhone on / off button breaks down, you can customize your special menu, which will appear when you press the virtual Home button located on the phone screen.

You can see an example on the screenshot below. Our menu consists of 4 buttons, each with a virtual Power button press. If you want to make a similar menu in your iPhone, then we perform several actions:

  • In the AssistiveTouch settings (who have already forgotten where they are, see the text above, where we adjusted the transparency of the button), select. Top-level menu
  • In the page that opens, using the minus sign (-), we leave only 4 icons
  • Now we touch each icon and set our commands for them: Lock Screen, Restart, SOS, Screenshot.
  • After applying the command to each button, do not forget to press the button. Done, located in the upper right corner.

Now check, press the Home button, which should show our 4 buttons, each of which can help when the power button is not working, it is also the screen lock.

Virtual Home menu when volume buttons are not working

If the volume buttons are junk or do not function, then you can make a 3-button virtual menu that will help you adjust the sound volume:

Using the AssistiveTouch settings that we did above, you need to arrange the menu with the volume buttons and they will appear in your menu.

In general, you can customize any combination of virtual buttons for yourself and use them in the iPhone for convenience.
