Can I copy to the clipboard directly from Vim? yy only copies stuff to Vim’s internal buffer. I want to copy to OS clipboard. Is there such a command in Vim or can you jerk things only in Vim?

For details on how to copy / paste an image / file in Android, read the official Android doc here.

In short, copy / paste the image / file by following these steps:

  • The datsource (the application you are copying data from) should create a ContentProvider and generate a Uri that can be used to reuse the image / file. The Uri looks like this: // [application package name] / path / to / file
  • The data destination (the app you are copying the data to) gets the Uri from the ClipboardManager and the ContentResolver user gets the image / file re-gets.

As you can see, copy / paste can only be achieved when the two applications are working together. Unfortunately, most Android apps don’t follow this rule.

For example, the Google docs Android app, when you copy an image to Google docs, generates an invalid Uri. You can’t imagine that even Google itself doesn’t follow the official Android copy / paste rule.

And I have tested many main thread editor applications including Microsoft Word. evernote. they don’t even support copying images.

Samsung Samsung Android works on some phones (you can copy image from stock browser to messaging app on Samsung Galaxy Note3) During my test, I found that copy / paste image / file works on some Samsung _43 phones (you can copy image from stock browser to messaging app on Samsung Galaxy Note3). However, Samsung does not adhere to the Android copy / paste framework. They implement copy / paste using their own mechanism, which means that third party applications cannot access the clip data.

Hence, I think there is still a long way to go for Android apps to follow the official Android copy / paste structure.

To talk about your requirements, I think you want to behave like a copy datsource. Although your own application supports copying. until the target application to copy the data follows the copy / paste structure, you cannot perform the paste action.

Android ClipData.Item only supports text Uri. So you cannot achieve copying the image data through the clipboard.

One possible solution would be to store the image data in some storage and copy the contents of the URI of the same one. However, this will not make your life easier, since the copied data will be available to all editors. which can receive data from ClipboardManager. they may not know how to handle this type of data.

If you want to copy / paste into your applications, then I suggest you write your own version of ClipboardManager and do whatever you want 🙂

I don’t think you can copy files / images to the clipboard. You can do something like this:

Create a file viewer application, something like (ES Explorer). You can create a file viewer app with content providers (Not sure) and show folders / files as a list.

Suppose, in an application, an item in the ListView points to File / Image. A long press on it opens a pop-up window. with some options like Cut / Copy / Move / Delete. Since you have an absolute path to each file / image., You can use JAVA file handling to:

b) Move it from one place to another

Copying a photo from the Gallery of an Android device

copy, photos, gallery, samsung

System “Gallery

In the standard “Gallery” of an Android device, there is usually no function of direct copying of photos, but it is possible to share them on social networks, instant messengers, upload to cloud storage or send a copy of a picture to any place on a smartphone. To do this, you only need a file manager, preferably a third-party one, since the standard file management tool may not appear. In our case, we will use Total Commander.

Open the “Gallery” on your smartphone, select one or more photos and tap “Share”.

If the directory for this has not yet been created, in the required directory, click “Create folder”, indicate its name and click “OK”.

Open the created directory and confirm copying.

Third party application

There are many alternatives to the system “Gallery”, some of which have a function to copy and move photos. Such software includes: Gallery (from the gallery), Pictures (from DIUNE), DVGallery (from Dovi Tools), etc. Let’s consider how to accomplish this task using the example of the Simple Gallery application.

Launch the application, open the “Camera” section (or another section that stores photos) and select the necessary images.

Click “Internal memory” and select it in the list of storages. If you have an SD card, you can send a copy of the image to it.

We find the necessary directory in the device memory and tap “OK”. Now open any file manager and check that the photos have been copied.

If there is no suitable directory for snapshots, you can create one right during the copying process. To do this, in the desired directory, click the icon with a plus, indicate the name of the new folder and click “OK”. We are waiting for the files to be copied into it.
