How to connect an Android smartphone as a USB tethering
When you connect your smartphone to a computer, a menu appears on the gadget’s desktop, in which you can select the connection mode. charging or transferring files. USB tethering options are hidden in the phone settings and are not set by default, so you have to find them manually.
As an example, we used a smartphone on Android 9 in the EMUI shell, but just in case, we gave the names of menu items in other versions of Android.

- Connect your phone to PC via USB. If this is a new device, wait until the drivers are installed.
- Open your smartphone settings. In the section “Wireless networks” (“Network”) find the item “Modem mode” (“Modem and access point”).
- Activate USB tethering. A new network with Internet access will appear on the computer.
We use the phone as a modem for a computer or laptop
To always have access to the network, you just need to learn how to distribute the Internet from your phone. We tell you how to distribute Wi-Fi from a smartphone and connect the phone as a USB modem.
Have you arrived at the dacha and want to watch a movie on your laptop, but there is no wired Internet? Or maybe your home ISP is having a problem and your PC still needs network access? There is a very simple way out. to use a smartphone as a modem for a computer via USB or Wi-Fi.
How to use your smartphone as a modem
Any modern smartphone that has access to the Internet can become its source and distribute the network over Wi-Fi or over a wire. As a rule, gadgets already have suitable drivers for turning into an access point, and you only need to find the necessary parameters in the settings of your phone.
Important: when using mobile internet, don’t forget about traffic. If you often connect your gadget as a modem, switch to a tariff that offers a large package of gigabytes. The quality and reliability of communication will also depend on the speed of the Internet and the location of your provider’s towers.
How to use a Samsung phone as a modem
To distribute the Internet, Samsung gadgets can use the Smart Switch (Kies) program. Install it on your smartphone and connect it to your PC. New hardware from Samsung appears on the PC monitor in Windows Device Manager.
Next, in the smartphone settings, select the “Connections” tab. “Modem and access point”. “USB modem”.
After activating the mobile modem, a notification will appear on the computer that the Internet is available.
How to share Wi-Fi from a smartphone
Another way to use your phone as a modem is to distribute the Internet via Wi-Fi. In this article, we described in detail how to create a hotspot on an Android smartphone. Everything is very simple. on most models, it is enough to open the menu curtain and select the “Access Point” item.
- To configure Wi-Fi, go to the access point settings. for this, tap on the function icon and hold it.
- Set the network name and password, and, if necessary, the type of encryption.
- We also recommend setting a traffic limit that can be used when your smartphone is connected to the network. We remind you that this is a mobile (and often limited and expensive) Internet.
- In addition, the maximum number of possible connected devices should be set so that the network is not overloaded.
Important: in modem or access point mode, the smartphone is discharged faster. Put the gadget on charge or connect it to the power bank while distributing the Internet.
Choosing between a Qi back cover or a case with a Qi receiver for your phone
You should be aware that if your phone is in a metal case or with a metal back, you will not be able to use the wireless charger. So if your device has a metal back cover like the HTC One M8, you’d better get a phone case to use this charger. This is necessary because the wireless charging receiver will not find the charger base signal through the metal cover. A phone case will solve this problem. There may be a slight bulge where the receiver is located, depending on the case or case, but this shouldn’t be inconvenient since the receiver itself is very thin.
What you need?
- back cover or phone case with Qi function
- universal Qi wireless charger
- any charger that can be charged via micro USB
How to connect Qi wireless charger to any phone, smartphone.
For quite some time now, only high-end phones have been equipped with this fantastic wireless charger. Although the qi standard has been gaining popularity lately, it is still not implemented as a 100% standard for chargers for many phone brands. But for smartphones lacking a built-in Qi receiver, there are alternatives, such as a back cover with a built-in wireless charging receiver, or a phone case that serves as a wireless charger receiver. There are no options available for some phones, but does that mean you’ll never be able to charge wirelessly? Of course not! We’re here to help you wirelessly charge any of your devices.
Preparation before connecting the wireless charging receiver.
Before purchasing a universal wireless charging receiver, check where the micro USB connector is on your device. If you don’t want the wireless charging receiver in your phone to be positioned incorrectly. The photo shows where the connector should be located so that you can correctly position the receiver under the back cover of the phone. If the connector is located in the wrong place, you can still use the charger, but this will be problematic due to the very short wire.
The micro USB connector can be located on the narrow side of the phone at the top or bottom. It is necessary to determine how to correctly position the receiver in your device.
Last but not least, the charge capacity will be only 500 mA, which means that your phone will charge more slowly. But you can always answer a call, dial an SMS, without annoying pulling out and connecting the charger cable. over, if you charge the device in your free time, for example at night, this fact will not bring you any inconvenience.
Once you have chosen what you want, simply plug the universal wireless charging receiver into the micro-USB connector and attach it to the back of your device. Try to center the receiver on the phone to avoid problems aligning it with the base (transmitter) of the charger. If you are doing this on a tablet, the receiver can only be located on the side where the micro-USB connector is located.
Once you have made sure to install the receiver correctly, simply cover it with a back cover, case or bumper and you’re done! Place the smartphone with the connected receiver on any Qi base of the wireless charger and enjoy wireless charging!

While screen mirroring is the most common option for connecting your phone to a TV via USB, there is another option: Instead of screen mirroring, you can also simply view files, such as pictures, on the TV.
However, this requires a compatible monitor, TV, or projector. Most modern displays should accept USB sticks.
Of the various USB to TV connectivity options, this is the easiest, and since it only requires a phone, USB cable and USB TV, it’s easy to set up. Which cable you need depends on your phone.
On iPhone or iPad, use a Lightning cable (or 30-pin for older devices); alternatively, Android users will need a micro-USB or USB-C cable. The USB cable that came with your phone or tablet should work fine.

USB to TV: connection for viewing photos
Modern Android devices do not support USB Mass Storage, so your TV will not treat your device like a real external drive.
It assumes that your TV or monitor has a USB input capable of displaying files from a connected storage device.
Just connect the cable to your phone and then to the TV. By connecting the standard end of the USB cable to the display, change the input on the TV to USB.
On Android, you will probably need to change your USB settings to Transfer Files or Transfer Photos (PTP) by dragging notifications from the top of the screen when connected. In the menu, tap USB charges this device notification to change it.
Please note that this does not work with all TVs, in some cases the USB ports are solely for firmware updates.
Connect headset with one button phone
Most wireless devices, in order to save space, have only one power button on the case and a color indicator to track the mode (work, charging, contact with the phone).
To turn on such headphones, just press the power. The indicator will light up in active color (usually red).
To start synchronization with a smartphone, hold down the power on for a few seconds. Then:
- Open the options and find the Bluetooth section.
- Activate the technology and run a search. All active and previously connected devices will appear.
- In the search results, find a device with Buds or Pods in the name and tap on it.
Once connected, sound will automatically start spreading through them. To turn them off, just press a key on them or deactivate Bluetooth.

Resetting Bluetooth Headphones in Samsung Smartphone
If an error occurs at the time the headphones are connected to the phone, they are connected separately and do not sync with each other. By the way, since the right and left elements can work separately and connect to separate smartphones. In order for both devices to connect normally, it is sometimes necessary to reset the connection settings. For this:
- Insert both cells into the charging case and remove them again.
- Hold down the power button for a few seconds to reset the connection.
- Insert the devices into your ears and wait for the beep indicating the connection.
On what devices can it be implemented
Also, devices must have a Bluetooth module.
Bluetooth speakers: basic information
To begin with, I would like to tell you more about such a device. Bluetooth speakers have been around for a long time. And all because the standard stereo system of smartphones and tablets did not suit users very much. Especially those who like to go on a picnic or country vacation and want to enjoy the sound of their favorite music along the way (without being connected to the network and using all kinds of wires).
At the same time, wireless speakers have become popular recently. Literally in the last three or four years, there has been a great demand for them, and many companies engaged in the production of computer peripherals have begun to actively produce them.
As for the most popular brands today, these are Logitech, JBL, Beoplay, Sven, Ginzzu, etc. Each company has a dozen models with very different designs. over, the most popular on the market are considered to be mini Bluetooth speakers, which are compact in size and easily fit into a or bag.
And there are speakers (the same Sony SRS-X99 costs about 35,000-45,000 rubles). Of course, the more expensive such a device is, the better its characteristics. power, frequency range, quality of materials, number of speakers, etc. dr.
For reference! Bluetooth speakers are not constantly powered from the mains. They have their own battery, which provides them with autonomous work. On average, the battery of a wireless headset has a capacity of 1000-2000 mAh. This is enough for 8-10 hours of continuous use of the device.
We connect the column to the phone via Bluetooth
It’s easy to connect Bluetooth speakers to your phone. You don’t need any cables, wires or special applications. You just need to adhere to the following instructions:
In this case, it is not necessary to constantly repeat this procedure. As soon as you turn on Bluetooth and the speaker, it will automatically sync.
For reference! Sometimes, for some reason, the phone does not see the speaker connected via Bluetooth. If you encounter such a problem, then just restart your device. Did not help? Then try to download and install the bluetooth pair application on your smartphone, which helps to establish a Bluetooth connection between different devices in a few clicks.
What is needed for this
- Any device with Bluetooth.
- Wireless speaker also called Bluetooth speaker for Android.
Wired connection
If your speaker has a 3.5mm mini-jack, then you’re in luck. If available, the sound quality will depend only on the implementation of the speakers, and not on the stability of signal reception and the Bluetooth version. However, you should make sure that this is an input and not an output. This can be done in two ways:
- Look at the speaker case or in the instruction manual. the word “AUX” should appear near the 3.5 mm jack. This means that it is designed to connect an audio cable.
- Try connecting headphones to the sounding speakers. If music starts playing in them, then this is an exit, not an entrance. If there is no effect, then this is an audio input. How to make the speaker play without connecting to a smartphone? Insert a memory card with music, or activate the radio. Of course, if only the portable speaker has these functions.
When using a cable, you are somewhat limited in the movement of the speaker. it will have to be moved along with the phone. But on the other hand, the sound is transmitted through the wire in the maximum volume, without distortion and loss. And the battery charge of the smartphone will be consumed very slowly, as in the case of listening to music using headphones.
Wireless connection
If you bought a Bluetooth speaker, then you will definitely want to use it without using a cable. As mentioned at the beginning of this article, Bluetooth is most often used for wireless sound transmission. The blue tooth version does not play a big role. basically it only affects energy consumption and range. If Bluetooth chips of different versions are built into the speaker and smartphone, then there is nothing to worry about. they are all backward compatible.
The easiest way to wirelessly connect a Bluetooth speaker is if it and your smartphone are equipped with an NFC chip. If it is available, it is enough to attach the speaker to the back of the phone, and then the devices are synchronized automatically. you just need to confirm this action by clicking the “OK”.
If there is no NFC in one of the gadgets, then you will have to make a manual connection. At least the first time. This is done as follows:
- Turn on the wireless speaker.
- Go to the notification panel on your smartphone.
- Hold your finger on the Bluetooth button. You can also go to the appropriate section through the “Settings”.
- Here you need, firstly, to activate Bluetooth, if it was turned off before. To do this, use the appropriate switch located at the very top of the section.
- Click the Search button. If you have just activated Bluetooth, the search for nearby devices may start automatically.
- The smartphone screen should display all Bluetooth devices that are currently turned on and nearby. Click on the one that resembles the model of your Bluetooth speaker by its name.
The system will start the synchronization process. It is possible that you will be required to enter a digital code located somewhere at the bottom of the column. Or you will be asked to do something with the device. say, hold down the power button for three seconds. But much more often, for a successful pairing, you do not need to perform any actions at all.
In the future, the connection to the column will be carried out automatically as soon as it is turned on. Of course, you must have Bluetooth activated on your smartphone for this.
Summarizing
Many owners of wireless speakers are thinking about which type of connection is more convenient. We think it’s better to use Bluetooth. But remember that sound is transmitted over the air in compressed form, unless the speaker with a smartphone supports the AptX profile. However, portable speakers are often compact, and therefore physically unable to reproduce sound in maximum quality. Therefore, we advise you not to worry about using the wireless method to connect.
How long have you been using a portable speaker? Are you satisfied with its sound? And have you encountered any connection problems? We wish to read your opinion in the comments.
Fast or slow?
Can I charge my device with wireless charging as fast as with a wire? The 5W wireless charging system can charge the device at a speed equivalent to wired charging operating at 5V and 1A.
The latest developments in contactless charging can do this even faster: the phone can be fed up to 15 watts. This greatly shortens the charging time, and wireless fast charging is becoming more and more popular.
Disadvantages of wireless charging
If wired chargers simply disappear between charging cycles, then when using contactless charging, the user faces other disadvantages.
- Depending on the size of the charging surface, two or more devices can be charged at the same time, but these chargers are more expensive.
- Charging can be carried out remotely, but you still need to be near the charger. do not carry the device further than 4cm.
- Remote charging still takes more time than the contact method, since electricity is “lost”. Therefore, it is better to keep the phone only on the charger plate.
Is wireless charging safe?
Magnetism is always perceived as something akin to magic, because magnetic fields cannot be seen. To build an effective wireless charging system, you need to concentrate the magnetic field around the transmitter coil.
This effect is achieved with the help of special materials. ferrites, which conduct a magnetic field much better than air. Consequently, it is easier for the magnetic field to pass through the ferrite, rather than looking for other propagation paths. Thus, outside of charging, the magnetic field is practically absent, and it itself is quite safe.
The secret in electromagnetic induction
How can energy be transferred from one object to another? Wireless charging works on the principle of electromagnetic induction. This phenomenon was first described in 1831 by Michael Faraday, who discovered that if source of a magnetic field is moved through a coil, an electric current will appear in it. Michael Faraday found the relationship between electricity and magnetism.
How electromagnetic induction works can be easily explained by performing the following experiment:
- Take the fridge magnet.
- Connect a light bulb to a simple copper coil.
- Move the magnet back and forth inside the coil.
- The lamp will start to light up!
Why did the light come on? By swiping a magnet inside the coil, you alter the magnetic field it creates. These vibrations were felt by a coil in which an induced current was generated.
How wireless phone charger works: it’s not magic
In recent years, wireless charging of smartphones has found more and more fans. There are already more than 500 models of various devices on the market that support this method.
In recent years, wireless charging of smartphones has found more and more fans. There are already more than 500 models of various devices on the market that support this method. You may have been using it for years if you have an electric toothbrush: just place it on the docking station and it will start charging.
The principle of charging your smartphone or smartwatch is the same. Very practical, no need to plug in the cable. But what is wireless charging and how does it work?
How wireless charging works
Basically, wirelessly charging your smartphone or other device works the same way as we saw in the light bulb experiment. Of course, there is no moving magnet here, but there is an induction coil through which a high-frequency alternating current flows.
This current generates changes in the magnetic field. This part of the wireless charging system is called the transmitter coil. The part located inside your phone is called the “receiving coil” and current flows through it just like the coil in the experiment.
Which smartphone can be charged wirelessly?
There are over 500 wireless charging devices on the market today.
Apple’s latest models have this feature. Samsung and Nokia also integrated it several years ago. Also support wireless charging technology from companies that are part of the Wireless Power Consortium. For more information about models with support for wireless charging, read our other article.
The future of wireless charging
Currently, the maximum wireless charging power is 15W, which is why such devices are exclusively for smartphones, cameras and smartwatches. The Wireless Power Consortium, however, is working to improve Qi technology so that it can charge devices with larger batteries, such as computers or electric cars.
This technology already exists, it is in the phase of testing and market adaptation. It was developed by WiTricity and uses magnetic resonance technology. In fact, the same thing happens as when charging the Qi, but at a greater distance. Since the largest electric car market today is in China, the manufacturer mainly cooperates with this country.
What is Reverse Wireless Charging
Reverse wireless charging is an even more advanced version of this technology. It first appeared in 2018 on a number of Huawei and Samsung smartphones. Its essence boils down to the fact that with the help of one phone you can charge another, and completely wirelessly.
It is enough to lean two devices against each other and activate the necessary function in the settings. This is very convenient, as it eliminates the need for people to carry portable chargers with them.
How to use wireless charging
Wireless charging is as easy to use as a cable charger. However, for clarity, we provide detailed instructions:
- Connect the wireless charger to a power source. This can be a USB port on your computer or a regular power outlet. After performing this action, the device should give some kind of signal, most often light or sound.
- Place your phone on the wireless charging platform. Most often, there are no special requirements for this, but it is better to put the phone in the center of the block. If charging does not start, then check if a similar option is activated in the settings.
As you can see, the principle of action is very simple, so any user can handle it.
Thus, wireless charging is a special platform on which the phone is placed to start charging the battery. The principle of its operation is reduced to the interaction of magnetic fields between two induction coils located in the phone and the device itself.
How does wireless phone charging work?
The principle of wireless charging is pretty simple, of course, if you do not go into the physical details. The user connects a special platform to a power source in advance, and then puts a smartphone on it. It seems that everything is so simple, but in reality everything happens a little differently. An induction coil is built into the platform, which acts as a receiver and transmitter.
The exact same coil is located in the user’s phone. After connecting the platform to the current source, a magnetic field is formed around the coil. When you place the phone on the panel itself, interaction begins between the two coils. Electromagnetic waves are converted into electricity, which charges the phone’s battery.
The process is shown more clearly in the image above. Magnetic waves are shown in yellow, which are converted into electricity.
Qi wireless charging standard
Many people think that wireless charging is new, but this is a misconception. Back in 2008, the Wireless Power Consortium introduced wireless charging technology based on the WPC standard. This name has not stuck in the memory of people, therefore, in various literature and descriptions, you can most often find the designation Qi.
The WPC standard states that wireless charging works thanks to two coils that interact with each other. One of them is located on the platform, and the other is on the user’s phone. Therefore, it turns out that the magnetic field covers two coils, thereby charging the battery of the device.
Today, many airports and bus stations offer their visitors to charge a smartphone or tablet completely wirelessly. This is where the Qi standard is used. However, not every phone can be charged over the air, so if you want to purchase such a technological platform, be sure to read the specifications of your device.
What is wireless charging
As the name suggests, wireless charging allows you to charge various devices without using wires. It can be not only a phone, but also a camera, camera, tablet, smart watch, headphones and other equipment. Naturally, for this to work, the device being charged must support wireless charging. If there is no such support, then in some cases it can be implemented using a special cover.
Samsung Wireless Charging Pad Review (Qi) (Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, Note 5)
This charging method saves a lot of time and eliminates the need for cables and connectors. The user just needs to put his phone on a special platform, and the battery automatically starts filling up. And to interrupt the charging process, you just need to take the device in hand, carrying it from the energy source by 5-10 cm.
Which phones support wireless charging
Now wireless charging technology is actively gaining popularity and more and more new phones support it. At the moment, almost all flagship models can be charged wirelessly. Below we provide an up-to-date list of models with wireless charging.
