How to Connect DVR / NVR to Internet

If your DVR or NVR does not have built-in Wi-Fi support, you need to use an internet cable (CAT 5 or CAT 6 Ethernet cable) to connect your DVR or NVR to the internet via a router.

Of course, using another WIFI router / access point as a wireless bridge, you can connect the CCTV DVR to your router wirelessly.

Why combine multiple routers into one network?

In some situations, a single router may not be enough to build a network or provide high-quality Wi-Fi coverage, which means it may not be able to provide the desired Wi-Fi coverage or may not have the required number of ports for devices connected to such a network. Some rooms or areas may be out of range of your router’s Wi-Fi signal. This situation is well known to people who have been building a Wi-Fi network in a large house, apartment or office, consisting of many rooms. If this happens, additional hardware needs to be installed to expand the network to the desired coverage, and this is not as difficult as it might seem.

This can be done in several ways, which we will discuss in this article:

  • First option. it is the connection of two or more routers using a cable. You will have to run the cable from one router to the other (s). This is not always convenient, but it is the most stable and reliable way to connect them. If you need a stable, high-speed network for a range of devices, routers should use a cable connection.
  • Second option. connection of routers via Wi-Fi. In this case, bridging (WDS) or repeater mode is used. In fact, they are the same, but these settings are implemented differently in routers from different manufacturers.

So that’s the starting point. We have a main router connected to the internet and it broadcasts a Wi-Fi network. We need to install another router, for example, in another room or on another floor. This second router will kind of enhance the Wi-Fi network provided by the main router and help extend the same network to cover more distant rooms.

The second router can be connected to the main router using a cable or Wi-Fi.

Let’s take a closer look at both connection methods.

How to connect the receiver to the Internet via a router

How to connect wireless IP cameras to NVR wirelessly

Chances are you don’t have a wireless video surveillance system with an NVR with built-in Wi-Fi.

Even though you have a PoE wired security camera system with PoE NVR, more often than not, you place a wireless security camera in a remote location where you cannot or cannot connect a network cable to your PoE NVR.

Then users can use your WI-FI router as a bridge to wirelessly connect your WI-FI IP cameras to your PoE NVR without laying network cables.

When doing this, make sure both of your wireless CCTV cameras are connected to the router wirelessly and the NVR is connected to the router via an Ethernet cable.

Connecting two routers on the same network: Wi-Fi amplification, shared resources

Read this article to learn how to connect two or more routers to the same network, how to strengthen the Wi-Fi signal, or create another access point within an existing network. We’ll look at two ways to do this. via cable or Wi-Fi.

Peer-to-Peer Revolution

P2P has revolutionized video surveillance: you can now access your cameras in just a few clicks. There is no more need to dig into router settings, get a static external IP or forward ports. It is enough to read the QR-code of the registrar using your smartphone or enter its serial number in the mobile application.

The line of DAHUA recorders supporting P2P protocol is designated V2 and S2. IPuma registrars presented in the catalog also support P2P protocol

Procedure for setting up gDMSS (Android):

  • Launch the application and click on the camera icon
  • In the list that opens, select “Device Manager”
  • We select the item “P2P”
  • Click on the QR code icon and scan
  • We assign a name to the added registrar
  • Press the “Start display” button and receive a video stream from cameras connected to the recorder

Algorithm for setting smartphones

First of all, you should activate the P2P protocol on the registrar. For this:

  • We go to the main menu of the recorder
  • Open the section “Settings”
  • We go to “Network settings” and select the item “P2P”
  • We put a tick in front of the “On” field
  • Click “Save”

After completing the settings, do not close the P2P section. It displays a QR code that you will need to scan with your mobile device.

Depending on your smartphone model, you need to run the iDMSS (for Apple) or gDMSS (for Android) or DMSS (for Windows Phone) app.

Algorithm of actions for setting up iDMSS (Apple):

  • Launch the application and click on the icon “Enter the main menu”
  • Select the section “Device Manager”
  • Click the icon “” (add a device)
  • We select the item “Scanning QR-code”
  • We bring the smartphone to the screen, on which the “P2P” tab is open, and wait until the program reads the QR code

At the end of the scan, a characteristic beep will sound and the serial number of your Dahua recorder will be displayed on the smartphone screen. After that you will get remote access to all your cameras.

If for some reason you cannot read the QR code, remote connection can be made by typing in the serial number of the registrar in the appropriate field. You can find out the serial number by looking at it on the back of the device or by going to the “Settings” → “Information” → “System” section of its network interface.

Algorithm for setting up the Smart PSS application to access the Dahua DVR from a computer

  • Launch the SmartPSS application on your computer and enter the word “admin” in the “Name” and “Password” fields of the dialog box that opens
  • In the “Settings” tab, click on the “Devices” icon
  • Click on the “Manual Add” button located in the lower left part of the screen
  • In the “Device Name” column, give the name of the recorder to which you want to connect
  • Set the connection method “SN” in the “Register Mode” tab
  • Enter the serial number of your Dahua DVR
  • Enter your username and password (by default “admin”)
  • Click the “Get Info” button
  • After the program receives data about your DVR and the number of cameras connected to it, click the “Add” button

If you did everything correctly, your Dahua DVR will be displayed in the device list. By clicking on it, you will open a tab with a list of surveillance cameras connected to it.

In order for several cameras to be displayed simultaneously in the application window, you need to select a screen area, and then click on the camera that should be displayed there. In the latest versions of Smart PSS, cameras can be simply dragged to the desired area. This procedure should be done for each camera separately.

Steps to configure DMSS (Windows Phone):

  • Launch the application and click on the camera icon
  • In the list that opens, select “Device Manager”
  • We select the item “P2P”
  • Click on the QR code icon and scan
  • We assign a name to the added registrar
  • Press the “Start display” button and receive a video stream from cameras connected to the recorder

IMPORTANT: for the connection to go through without problems and the video is displayed without delays, it is advisable to install the latest firmware versions on your mobile device, registrar and router.

CONNECTING A CCTV CAMERA VIA THE INTERNET

Now let’s see how to connect to a CCTV camera over the Internet. There are several ways to do this.

  • connection via a computer;
  • using a video recorder;
  • you can also connect the camera via the internet directly.

In the first case, you need to use an IP video camera connected to the router. After that, port forwarding is configured. If the above Internet connection has a static (white) IP address, then access is carried out by entering this address directly into the address bar of the browser. Otherwise, you will have to use dynamic services (DynDNS).

If video surveillance is organized using a video recorder, then analog cameras can be used. Then the registrar connects to the router and the actions described above are carried out.

The easiest way to connect the camera to the Network is using cloud-based video surveillance services. To do this, your IP cameras must be supported by the selected service. The process can be simplified as much as possible by using equipment specially offered by the cloud service provider. By the way, the use of the “cloud” is possible in all cases described, and this is the best option.

It is best to use a wired internet to ensure a stable connection. Wireless solutions can “slow down” image viewing, and for a large number of video cameras 3G or even 4G bandwidth will not be enough.

HOW TO CONNECT THE CCTV CAMERA

To begin with, I will give some options for connecting CCTV cameras with signal cables and wires.

How to connect a CCTV camera to a computer or monitor is described in the second part of the article. By the way, here we will talk about analog CCTV cameras.

They can have two main types of conclusions:

  • purely wired,
  • for connectors.

In the first case, the connection is made by twisting (which is strongly recommended to be soldered) or through terminal connectors.

As for the connectors, BNC connectors are used to connect the video signal circuits, and the power circuit has a two-pin (two-pin) plug connector.

To connect the camera to any device, you need to have a connecting line of the required length with appropriate connectors. Combined coaxial cable can be used (power and signal circuits are isolated in common).

Alternatively, the voltage can be supplied with a separate cable. It all depends on the preferences of the installer, as well as the configuration of the system.

For example, if the power supply unit (PSU) is installed in the immediate vicinity of the equipment to which the CCTV camera is connected, then both options can be used.

If the power supply unit is placed in a different place, you will have to use a separate wire to connect it. In each case, be sure to pay attention to the cross-section of the conductors (about their calculation here).

The connecting line on the side opposite to the camcorder must have a connector that matches the equipment to be connected. It is obvious. By the way, when a CCTV camera is connected to a twisted pair, this equipment will have a corresponding transmitter.

Now about some of the ways in which you can connect an analog camera to various devices of the video surveillance system.

CONNECTING TO A COMPUTER

There are two ways to connect a video surveillance camera to your computer:

It is inserted directly into the computer system unit and can have a different number of connection channels. Connector type. BNC. The scope of delivery must necessarily include the appropriate software.

When choosing a board, you should pay attention to the system requirements of the manufacturer for the computer.

This option provides the organization of a full-fledged video surveillance system with functions such as motion detection, archiving, search for recordings by time or event, sound recording, PTZ control (PTZ device, zoom), etc. Naturally, for each model the combination of capabilities will be different, so you need read the description carefully.

This is a rather pale semblance of a video capture card, but nevertheless it also requires software (advice: use only the standard software from the manufacturer, you can, of course, find something on the Internet, but not the fact that it will work. There were precedents). Quite cheap, both in terms of money and capabilities, a way to connect a CCTV camera via the USB input of a computer.

CONNECTING TO MONITOR AND TV

If you connect a CCTV camera directly to the monitor, then, of course, you can only watch the image online and nothing more.

Direct connection of the camera to the monitor is possible only if it has a composite signal input. These are usually specialized monitors for video surveillance, they are not cheap, so it is easier to use a computer monitor and a BNC-VGA converter.

When purchasing a converter, you should pay attention to its characteristics such as resolution. As a rule, it is about 740×576 px, which corresponds to a camera resolution of about 420 TVL. Thus, if you have a high-resolution video camera, some of it will be “eaten” by this device.

consider how to connect a CCTV camera to a TV.

To do this, your TV must have connectors for connecting a composite signal (RCA). In this case, the central contact serves to feed directly the video signal, and the external one is the screen (see photo).

Since analog CCTV cameras usually have either lead wires or a BNC connector, you will have to make an appropriate adapter. For the version with a connector. on one side of the connector we put a BNC “male”, on the other. a tulip and connect them with a coaxial cable (75 Ohm resistance) as shown in Fig. 1.

IP Камера Видеонаблюдения MISECU FullHD с ночьной съемкой защита IP65 обзор и тест днем и ночью

If the video camera has wire leads, then we make the connection in accordance with Fig. 2. Be sure to turn on power to the camera. If the camera has 4 leads, then look at its passport, most likely two double wires will come out.

Yellow, as a rule, is always a signal, and red is a plus of power. The other two can be connected to each other. this will be common. But, in order to avoid complications, do not be lazy to find a description of the video camera.

How To Connect, Add, Setup Or Pair IP Camera To ONVIF WiFi NVR | Match Code Through Network Cable

After that, we connect the appropriate connectors and that’s it. Keep in mind that you need to select the appropriate mode for viewing:

  • “SOURCE” button on the remote control or TV;
  • then on the TV screen the menu item “AV” or “composite”.

Remote video surveillance via 3G / 4G and features of its connection

With such a connection, many nuances should be taken into account. The main focus should be on the modem. You should not literally take the maximum transfer rate indicated on it, it is unlikely to be achieved. The decisive factors here will be such points as the number of connected security cameras and the state of the cellular operator’s network.

When connecting the modem directly to a personal computer, remember that remote monitoring will be possible only when it is turned on. An exception is self-powered modems. A good option would be to use a modem in conjunction with a Wi-Fi router.

Video surveillance can be organized through the networks of cellular operators

Another way of editing is the inclusion of a separate recorder in the system, which will simultaneously record what is happening. But here, too, there were some pitfalls. Universal modems rarely fit a particular registrar, so you should think about this in advance.

Connecting such equipment and setting it up practically does not differ from the options described above (depending on the type of CCTV cameras).

Separately powered modems are much more convenient and reliable

Organization of video surveillance via high-speed wired Internet

recently, a similar option could be implemented only through AHD cameras with the obligatory installation of a video recorder (receiver). Despite the fact that this method of connecting cameras is widespread today, more and more people are switching to other equipment. IP video cameras. Therefore, it makes sense to consider both of these options in more detail.

Such a video recorder will save more than 1000 hours of recordings

Why spend money on an expensive video surveillance system, baby monitor or other equipment? With Faceter, all features are available at no cost. Install the Faceter app, use its features and save money.

Installation of AHD observation points

The first thing to determine is the number of cameras and their location. It should be remembered that each of them will require its own power point. Next, we will consider the option of connecting with a registrar.

First you need to connect 2 wires to the camcorder. A wire going to the recorder is mounted to the BNC connector, and the power is connected to DC. Next, the recorder itself is connected, and power is supplied to the camera.

Connecting Multiple AHD Surveillance Points to the Receiver

For debugging, it is advisable to connect a monitor to the recorder, after which it must be restarted. When the image is on the monitor, it will be possible to adjust the direction of the camera in order to obtain the desired picture.

Organization of video surveillance via the Internet: how to connect and configure cameras

For safety reasons, every day more and more video cameras appear on the streets and roads to help prevent or solve crimes. But private houses with apartments have not been spared this trend. Some want to see what happens at home in their absence, while others need to follow the order at the entrance. That is why today’s article, in which it is considered step by step how to organize video surveillance via the Internet, will be relevant today and will help everyone to understand this issue.

WI-Fi video surveillance system and its organization

For such a connection, nothing is required except the video camera itself with a power adapter and a Wi-Fi router connected to the network. The fact is that the router itself has its own IP address, which cannot be changed.

Wi-Fi router or router

First of all, the camera must be positioned in the right place and powered up. After that, by the IP address of the router, you need to enter its interface and configure the connection with the video device. It will be very simple to do this. the interface of modern routers is clear, for each step on the computer screen you can find a hint in the user’s language.

It is very important to position the camcorder correctly

The next step is to access the camera itself from the PC. To do this, you need to open any browser and connect to the video surveillance point by entering its IP address. The requested login and password are on the box from the video camera and are standard, therefore, after connection, it is advisable to change them in order to avoid unauthorized access by strangers.

Ideally, the camera should cover the entire room.

By following these simple steps, the user can be sure that he will be able to observe the object no matter where he is. The only reason that can prevent this is a power outage. But here too there is a way out. If this happens periodically, it is advisable to purchase an uninterruptible power supply device that will not allow the equipment to turn off for a certain time.

An uninterruptible power supply device will save in a power outage

Opportunities provided by video surveillance systems

Video surveillance through the World Wide Web opens up tremendous opportunities for the user. At the same time, it will be useful for both young mothers and parents with teenage children, entrepreneurs and sellers, security guards and ordinary people.

Anyone today can organize monitoring of their own apartment in real time, with a record on a personal drive or in the cloud storage. And it is quite easy to follow what is happening not only from a computer, but also from a smartphone or tablet from anywhere in the world. This allows you to react in time to the occurrence of an emergency situation, for example, by calling emergency services.

IP cameras and how they differ from AHD

Everything is much simpler here. An IP camera is purchased, which is first connected to a computer, after which it becomes possible to enter its settings by its IP address (indicated on the box and in the technical documentation). Further, in the menu, the IP address allocated by the provider and the port of the incoming connection (most often it is 80) are written.

IP-camera differs from analog only in connector

It remains to set a login and password, which will allow you to view the image from the camera from any Internet access point. At this point, the configuration of the IP camera can be considered complete. Now you just need to install it in the right place, connect it to the power supply and the Internet cable.

You can view the video from the camera by entering http: // 92.245.37.237 (example IP address): 80 (port number). However, such video surveillance systems are gradually becoming a thing of the past. and more often, the provider does not provide the user with a static IP address, but a dynamic one, which changes every time the computer is turned on, which prevents the possibility of connecting such a camera. So, it is worth considering other options.

The IP address contains a lot of useful information

Installation of analog cameras

Experts always focus the attention of novice craftsmen on the nuance that in a professional environment there are certain norms and requirements that must be taken into account when installing equipment indoors. Many consumers tend to prefer universal analog cameras that do an excellent job of video monitoring. Regardless of the model, such units must contain the following types of connectors:

  • RCA, popularly referred to as “tulip”.
  • Red connector, which is needed to connect the power supply.

Separately, it should be noted that RCA connectors can be presented in two colors:

  • White color. serves for audio signal transmission.
  • Yellow. needed for video signal transmission.

Depending on which model of equipment the master purchased, the color scheme of the CCTV camera may differ slightly. Any monitor (TV) can act as a video image receiver.

To connect the screen to the camera, you must use a high quality RCA cable. The video output of the camera must be connected to the corresponding connector on the TV, the same rule applies to the audio output. Each master can select the right or left channel. In classic models, the wiring diagram looks like this:

  • The black wire is always considered a minus.
  • The red video device cable is a plus.
  • Yellow wire provides uninterrupted video feed.

The video output must be connected to the central core of the coaxial cable. Minus and plus are connected respectively. An RCA connector is screwed to the opposite end of the cable. It is worth noting that some modern models are equipped with a better connector. BNC.

Connecting video equipment to a computer

This method of mounting cameras will help the user to save the resulting video to hard disk. Another huge advantage of the technology is that a specialist can always program the installed equipment (for example, the system can turn on independently at a certain period of time). Today, experts are actively using the three most convenient ways to connect the camera to a personal computer. Each option has its own nuances and advantages, which must be taken into account even at the design stage.

The first method is characterized by the fact that the master must complete the PC with a special video capture card, since without it it will be simply impossible to work with cameras. This detail is especially effective when analog cameras are used. The advantage of the board is that it can be used to quickly and efficiently encode and process captured videos. Depending on the model, the part can be equipped with from 4 to 16 video outputs, which is quite enough for those situations when you need to create your own video surveillance system.

The second method is based on the use of a well-known video server. With the help of this equipment, it is possible to digitize the received video signals, due to which the cameras used are obtained more functional. Each video server is equipped with a special BNC input, to which modern camcorders can be connected. Do not forget about the LAN output, which is intended for connecting a computer. Thanks to this, the owner of the video surveillance system has the opportunity to control the entire work process both through a stationary computer and through a laptop.

For the latter option, the specialist will have to use a USB converter, which ensures reliable connection of the cameras to the PC. A huge advantage is that for the stable operation of such a device, you need a regular USB output, which every computer has. The received analog signal can be converted to digital. It is worth noting that the picture quality will be quite low. The relative demand for this option is due to the fact that the owner needs minimal financial investments.

Recommendations for self-installation

People increasingly decide to connect security cameras to keep order on their territory, at home or at an enterprise. In order for the acquired system to be reliable and durable, you need to know the basic installation rules, as well as some of the secrets of the masters. To properly connect the camera, you need to adhere to the following recommendations:

  • A special monitor is always included with the camera, through which the user can view everything that happens in the controlled area. The wizard will have to determine the exact place for installing video cameras.
  • At the next stage, Honor needs the basic installation parameters: viewing angle and height of the cameras. It should be noted that the correctness of the image reproduced on the monitor depends on them.
  • Now you can proceed with the installation itself. To connect a video camera, you need to prepare two cables. coaxial and power. The first wire is needed to transmit a clear picture. But the power cable provides power to the device.
  • In order for the installed equipment to receive a high quality signal, it is necessary to calculate the total footage between the camera and the receiver.

Of course, it is not so difficult to install a video surveillance camera, the main thing is to be guided by the basic rules for the operation of electrical appliances. Only in this case, the installation of the necessary equipment will be performed at the highest level.

Ways to connect a video surveillance camera with your own hands

Every year, universal video surveillance systems are gaining more and more popularity. High-quality lines of constant video monitoring are installed in various areas: offices, private houses, apartments and enterprises. The huge advantage of such equipment is that you can carry out the installation yourself. To connect CCTV cameras, you need to have basic technical knowledge.

Basic materials for video surveillance

Modern manufacturers offer their customers a huge variety of cameras that have the required durability and affordable price. Most often, a standard module is used to connect such devices. advanced users choose special receivers equipped with a camera outlet. It is this device that greatly simplifies the process of connecting the system to a personal computer. In order not to be mistaken with the choice, you must take into account the connector for the receiver. The outlet for the camera must be inspected, and possible connection schemes are being studied.

  • Powerful wires for switching in a low-current switchboard device (PUGV 1.5 mm²).
  • Power cable for the entire laid system (220 V).
  • Universal cable KVK-P 20.75 mm². Separately, it should be noted that some confuse this cable with KVK-V, intended for laying inside the house.
  • Modern analog cameras with fixing on the wall. The most functional are those models that have a high resolution.
  • Three-core PVA wire with a cross section of 1.5 mm².
  • Multifunctional video recorder that will provide connection of the camera. Before purchasing the selected model, you must make sure that the number of video outputs is equal to or greater than the number of cameras used.
  • Powerful power supply. For example, many craftsmen prefer to use the same models that are used to connect LED strips. If a specialist has chosen a cable with a cross-section of 0.75 mm², then a standard power supply will be enough for stable and high-quality signal transmission over a distance of 900 meters.
  • A hard drive from a computer that will provide video recording and storage. It should be noted that the minimum volume of this device should be 1 TB. As for the size of the hard drive, both small (2.5 “) and large (3.5”) models are suitable for work. But, as practice shows, it is compact devices that generate less noise and heat.
  • If you need to ensure the uninterrupted operation of video cameras even in the event of a power outage, then you need to purchase a UPS (uninterruptible power supply).
  • BNC. F universal power connectors and BNC receive connector.
  • High quality modular distributor. This equipment is necessary so that the video surveillance system does not burn out at the first thunderstorm. As practice shows, it is better not to save on this element of protection.
  • To reliably hide all cables and connectors that are on the street, you need to purchase special junction boxes with an IP 52 protection system.
  • What a high-quality shield cannot work without is terminal connectors and sockets.

Professional connection of a CCTV camera is distinguished by the fact that the DVR and the uninterruptible power supply are best connected via a plug and socket.

In addition, all devices used must be compatible with each other. So, simple equipment cannot be combined with analog systems.

Working principle with rotary devices

Contact modules are required to install such devices. As for receivers, not all models can be used. If a camera with two outputs is used, then an additional expander must be selected for it. It is this node that connects to the receiver. The standard scheme provides for the use of one adapter. But each case is individual, as it all depends on the type of expander. All single-pin models are equipped with a PPC output.

In some cases, when connecting equipment, there may be problems with displaying video on the monitor. This problem can be solved with the help of three-channel receivers. In this case, universal adapters with a RK connector can be used.

Equipment setup

When the system is fully installed, you can safely proceed to its configuration. Especially careful should be those craftsmen who are first engaged in the installation of such equipment. At the first stage, all video cameras are configured. All settings are made through the DVR client program, with which you can control the existing devices while sitting at the computer.

When the user is authorized, he needs to open the “Settings” tab and select the “Add zone” section. After the performed manipulations, the program will certainly prompt you to enter a name (digital combinations are allowed). As practice shows, if several cameras are installed at once, then it is best to zoning them, so as not to get confused in the information in the future.

At the next stage, the registrar is connected to a specific zone. The wizard needs to right-click on an empty field and select one of the proposed options. If the required name of the registrar is already taken, then you need to go to the “Add device” section. When the entire list of used devices (cameras and registers) is displayed on the screen, you need to open the “View” tab. These manipulations will help to display the image from the cameras on the monitor.
