How do I connect an analog camera to a monitor? How to connect an analog camera to a monitor?
If you need to connect an analog camera to the monitor, you will need a power supply and a coaxial cable.
There are 3 connection options:
- Using a registrar;
- Using a PC with a capture card installed on it;
- Direct connection.
The first method is the most common when using surveillance systems and is used when a large number of cameras are used. For control systems consisting of 1 or 2 cameras, this connection method is NOT effective, since you will have to buy a recorder, which is quite expensive and is simply not needed for such a system.
Depending on which monitor you will be using depends on the connector used for connection, as shown in the figure below. In this case, the monitor connector is connected directly to the recorder.
To connect an analog camera to a personal computer monitor, you need a capture card or a USB converter. This also requires additional cash costs.
The connection is carried out as follows:
- The board is installed in the computer;
- The signals from the analog cameras are fed to the Corresponding interfaces of the capture board;
- The board decodes the signal at the hardware level, performs conversion and compression, forming a stream in a computer understandable, digital form.
The listed actions are performed automatically, they do not require specialized software. Shells and drivers are needed only for working with data.
When buying a board, you need to pay attention not only to the number of available interfaces, i.e. Connection points for analog cameras, but also on the capabilities of the proposed software.
Part of the functionality of the capture card is also provided by a USB signal converter. In particular, it receives a signal from cameras and forms an understandable data format for a computer.
Most converters offer an access system similar to connected USB cameras. The functionality of such devices is minimal; any wrapper packages from third-party manufacturers can be used for signal processing.
But this equIPment also has advantages. First, its price is quite low. Second, there is no need to install power-hungry, bulky capture cards. Thirdly, the USB converter can be easily connected to a laptop without interfering with its hardware.
The simplest and cheapest is to connect the camera directly to the monitor. True, this method will allow you to observe on the monitor what is happening in the camera’s field of view at the moment. It will NOT work to record.
You can use the monitor of an ordinary personal computer, connect the camera to it directly. Additionally, you only need to purchase a BNC-VGA converter. It converts the analog camera signal to digital, which allows you to get the picture on the screen in real time.
When buying it, it is important to pay attention to the resolution, which is rarely more than 740×567 pixels. That is, if the resolution of the camera image is higher, it will still not be higher than the above parameters. Higher quality converters can be used, but they will cost more.
To connect to a monitor, it must have a composite signal connector. In it, the central contact gives directly the signal, and the outer one. the screen.
Analog surveillance cameras usually have lead wires or BNC connectors. This means that you need to make a suitable adapter to connect. Then, on one side of the connecting cable, a BNC is installed, on the other. a tulIP (RCA) and the camera is connected to the monitor.
If the camera has 4 leads, then two double wires will come out of it. Usually yellow is a signal, red is a power supply plus. The remaining two wires can be connected together. However, it is best to carefully read the passport of the device so as not to break it.
Once connected, you can start browsing. For this you need:
- Press “source” on the remote control;
- Select “composite” or “av” mode on the TV screen.
These are the methods used to connect analog cameras to monitors.

How to connect a camera to a computer
The cost of analog cameras nowadays has dropped to the level when almost everyone can buy them, and does not particularly strain their budget.
But for organizing a surveillance system, one camera is not enough, you need to connect it somewhere else. It is possible directly to a monitor or TV, but it is still desirable to have a recording device that could save the recording from the surveillance camera to the archive. Your computer can act as such a registrar. But this is where the question arises. How to connect a camera to a computer?
When it comes to digital IP cameras. Everything is much simpler. They are connected via Ethernet via a switch, router or directly to the LAN input of a PC. Next, you need to find out the IP address of the camera, credentials. Login and password, which are usually specified in the instructions for the IP camera, and go to it using a regular browser or software supplied with the camera in the kit.
The situation is somewhat more complicated with analog cameras. How to connect a regular camera to a computer? After all, he has an entrance.
Here you can go in two ways and even three. The first. Purchase a capture card and install it in a PCI or PCI-e slot on your computer. As a rule, such boards, created for analog (although they are purely analog, because Delight, coding and archiving are already at the digital level) surveillance systems have from 4 to 16 inputs. It is quite enough for organizing a surveillance system both in a private house or apartment, and for creating professional distributed integrated security systems. Capture cards usually come with software that allows you to organize such functions of a CCTV system as recording by a motion detector or by schedule, recording an archive in a loop, remote access to a surveillance system via a local network or via the Internet, etc. This method is good for everyone, except for one. It does not allow you to connect your camera to your laptop.
The second way is to connect the camera to the computer. This is server usage. A device that converts an analog PAL signal to digital, i.e. Transforms a regular camera into an IP camera. It has a BNC input and a LAN output, from which we send a signal to our computer network, and then everything is similar to an IP camera. A regular 4-channel recorder can act as a server; now they all have a built-in Cloud service, which allows you to organize an Internet monitoring system without a static IP address. Such a solution may be even cheaper than using a dedicated server. Now you can find a registrar for less than 3000 rubles. We already wrote about this in the article on wireless surveillance. You just need to find such a recorder, which allows you to organize an archive on remote PCs. Although this is not necessary, since K. The archive can be stored on the hard disk of the recorder, and viewed over the network from a computer.
The third way to solve the problem posed in the title of the article. Using USB converters. Such devices are similar to servers, only they generate a digital signal for the USB input of a computer. Perhaps this will be the cheapest way, but we have never come across such devices with acceptable digital image quality and with more or less normal software in their kit. Therefore, we would not recommend going this way.
The second and third methods allow you to connect an analog camera to your laptop. But still, for a digital device it is better to use the same digital one. And we recommend using digital IP cameras to organize a laptop-based surveillance system.

Surveillance Camera Monitor
For mounting security systems, 2 main types of monitors are used:
- LCD (created with the introduction of liquid crystals)
- CRT (on cathode ray tube).
The choice of the monitor is carried out after the purchase of all other devices. Despite the fact that many consider CRT monitors to be obsolete, they can also be effectively used in tandem with cameras. They have their own advantages:
- Cheapness;
- Low screen inertia;
- Good display quality of dynamic (moving) objects;
- Large viewing angle (up to 180 degrees).
Fans of LCD monitors are also guided by objective reasons:
- Compactness;
- Low energy consumption;
- No flickering in the image;
- High quality color reproduction;
- Increased image brightness in comparison with ray screens.
Screens on a ray tube usually have a higher resolution (about 1200×1600 pixels), while budget LCD models have fixed lower rates that “eat up” details.
At the same time, LCD monitors have a constant frequency, they do not flicker, which makes them more comfortable for vision. They also DO NOT emit radiation harmful to the human body. The same level is achieved only in newer more expensive models of CRT screens.
How to choose a monitor?
To find the right camera monitor for your system and your needs, you need to consider the following factors:
- Monitor matrix resolution;
- Diagonal;
- Update frequency;
- Power;
- External interfaces;
- Heat dissIPation;
- Radiation degree.
The most important of THESE metrics are resolution and diagonal. The first determines how clear the image will be, the second affects the size of the resulting image. The optimal combination is HD resolution (1200×1600 pixels) and diagonal from 18 to 22 inches.
The choice of diagonal is also influenced by the number of monitoring devices. After all, if there are a lot of cameras, and the screen is small, this simply will not allow you to understand what is happening. According to the existing recommendations, the diagonal depends on the number of cameras:
- 1-2. 15 inches;
- 3-4. 17 inches;
- 5-9 cameras. 19-22 inches;
- 10-16 cameras. 22-40 inches;
- 17-20 cameras. 32 inches and more.
The clarity and quality of the image depend on the dot pitch. the minimum distance in millimeters between pixels of the same color. The smaller this indicator, the clearer the resulting picture will be. Experts strongly DO NOT advise buying monitors with a pitch of less than 0.26 mm for monitoring purposes.
The flickering of the screen depends on the refresh rate, and, accordingly, how tired the eyes will be from viewing the picture. You should buy a monitor with a flicker frequency of 85-100 Hz. over, the larger the number, the lower the fatigue.
You also need to pay attention to the connection method. It is recommended to select screens with the maximum number of connection methods (HDMI, VGA, DVI).
If there is always a person in front of the screen watching what is happening, you should choose monitors with less radiation. And for reasons of economy, it is logical to buy a screen with the lowest power consumption.
Since the monitoring screen is constantly switched on, you need to take care of overheating or, more precisely, eGoProphylaxis. For this, it is recommended to purchase a screen with an external power supply. This will reduce the amount of heat inside and increase the life of the device.
On a note! You can also use the screen of an ordinary home TV for monitoring. The main thing is that it is equIPped with a composite connector via an RCA cable.
How to connect a surveillance camera directly to a monitor?
Surveillance cameras are by far the most effective way to protect your home or place of work from unauthorized intrusion. Due to lower for analog devices, almost any resident of Russia can afford to install cameras.
The simplest option is to connect a surveillance camera to a monitor. That is easy to do on your own, while allowing you to provide constant supervision of the house, apartment or office. The monitor will display images from all cameras.
In order for the surveillance system to function correctly and NOT fail in the first month of operation, you need to make sure that all components are selected and connected correctly.
Connecting an analog camera to a monitor
To properly and efficiently connect the monitor to the camera, you need:
- Connecting cables;
- Power Supply.
It should be understood that the quality of the image and the durability of the system largely depend on how high-quality the cable will be used. Not worth saving. It is better to spend money on an expensive cable once than periodically render the entire system. A coaxial cable is usually used to connect analog cameras.
There are 3 ways to connect the monitor and cameras:
- Using a registrar;
- Via PC settings (capture board)
- Direct connection.
The first method is justified when organizing surveillance, which involves a large number of cameras. For systems consisting of 1 or a pair of cameras It is not justified due to the high cost of the recorder.
Connection diagram of the monitor to the recorder
To connect cameras using a personal computer, you need a special capture card or a USB converter, which also implies additional costs.
Capture board
The best option for monitoring a house or apartment would be to connect the camera directly to the monitor. This method will allow you to observe on the monitor what is happening in the surveillance area of the camera at the moment. Online image viewing on the Internet will not be available.
You can use the screen of an ordinary personal computer, that is, the camera can be connected to a usually computer monitor directly. Additionally, you only need to purchase a BNC-VGA converter. It converts the analog camera signal to digital, which allows you to get the picture on the screen in real time. When buying it, it is important to pay attention to the resolution, which rarely exceeds 740×567 pixels. This means that regardless of the screen resolution, some of the quality will be “eaten” by the device. Better converters will cost more.
BNC-VGA Signal Converter
To connect to the screen, it must have a composite signal connector. In it, the central contact gives directly the signal, and the outer one. the screen.
Connect analog surveillance cameras, remember that they usually have wire leads or BNC connectors. This means that you need to make a suitable adapter to connect. Then, on one side of the connecting cable, a BNC is installed, on the other. a tulIP (RCA) and their connection is made. Voltage level. 75 Ohm.
Let’s see how to connect the camera to the monitor.
It is also recommended to look at the device passport, especially if the camera has 4 outputs. Most often, this means that two double wires will come out of it. Usually yellow is a signal, red is a power supply plus. The remaining two wires can be connected together. However, it is best to carefully read the device passport so as not to break the device.
To view the image you need:
- Press “source” on the remote control;
- Select “composite” or “av” mode on the TV screen.
If you connect an IP-camera to a monitor, just a personal computer is enough, a cable (twisted pair) goes from the IP-camera to the computer’s network card (rj45). Installing software from the manufacturer’s IP-camera. that’s all. It is not necessary to additionally connect the monitor, as it is already connected to the PC.
How to connect an IP camera to a computer
IP cameras are connected to a computer via a network cable or Wi-Fi for monitoring.
- Connect the IP camera to a wall outlet or power adapter. But if the camera and your router support PoE technology (check the documentation), then this action is necessary: the device will be charged directly via the Internet cable from the router.
- Connect the camera with an internet cable to the LAN port of the router. Make sure your router is powered on and configured.
- Install the camera setup software on your computer. Most often it is sold complete with the device. If you don’t find it in the box, check the camera manufacturer’s website.
- Run the program and follow its instructions. Typically, this software allows you to set up a wired or Wi-Fi connection of the camera, as well as control the broadcast and recording. These programs work differently depending on the specific GoPro manufacturer. If your software does not automatically configure the camera or does not display prompts, look for instructions on the official website.
A smartphone can also be used as a wireless IP camera. To do this, it is enough to install one of the Special programs on it, and then through the computer browser View and manage
How to connect a digital camera to a computer
Digital cameras are often connected to PCs to copy footage. This is a simple procedure, which is approximately the same for all models.
- Turn on the camera and connect it to the computer via the USB cable that came with it.
- Open the menu of connected devices on your PC. For example, in Windows this is the section “My Computer” or “This Computer”, and in macOS. Finder.
- Click on the camera icon and find the directory with the media files. After that, you can copy them to PC memory by dragging them to any folder.
- If the computer does not see the camera, which can happen on an old PC, try installing its driver. The necessary software can be found on the disc if it was sold with a camera, or on the manufacturer’s website.
- If you have a cable at hand, you can try copying the files to your computer via a memory card. Pull it out of the camera and insert it into the card reader of your PC. Many desktop computers and almost all laptops have a connector. After that, the memory card should be displayed in the system as a regular flash drive, and you can copy the necessary data from it.

How to connect a webcam to a computer
By connecting a webcam, you will be able to communicate over a link through applications like Skype or Zoom. As a rule, the connection is automatic and does not require any settings.
- Connect your webcam to your computer using a USB cable. If your device has a power button, press it.
- Open the program in which you are going to use the camera and try to make or receive a call.
- If the device does not work, go to the settings of the current program and make sure that the connected camera is selected as the source. For example, in Skype this can be checked in the section “Settings” → “Sound and”, and in the Zoom application. in the menu “Settings” → “”.
- If the camera does not work and is NOT displayed in any program, go to the manufacturer’s website and look if there is special software for your camera. Install it and try to use the device for communication again.
How to connect an analog camera to a computer
If you still use an analog camera instead of a digital one, it will NOT work to connect it to a computer without additional devices. There are at least three types of gadgets that will help:
- Capture board. inserted into the system unit and contains inputs for connecting cameras. Suitable for stationary computers only.
- Server. an external box that connects via a network cable to a computer and via a BNC cable to a camera.
- USB converter is a special cable with an adapter. The cheapest option, but may reduce quality
All of these devices perform one task. they convert an analog signal to digital so that you can display it on a computer monitor. Each comes with dedicated software for quick setup.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Analog Cameras
- Most of the cameras produced and almost all the old-style devices have rather limited functionality, but this problem is solved in new models that have received a hardware Motion Vector, built-in microphone and speakers, or a connector for their connection;
- There are certain restrictions for integration with digital security systems and access control systems;
- The signal is not encrypted during transmission.
- Difficulties in scaling and transitioning the system to digital technologies.
Analog Camera Connection: Using Coaxial GoPro and Twisted Pair
Despite the dominance of digital technology, the use of analog cameras, supporting new high-definition standards, is becoming increasingly important. Is the fact that the range of image transmission without using amplifiers in new analog formats is much longer? Than the digital information transmission capabilities of IP cameras.
An example would be to add four new analog formats:
- HD-SDI. developed in 1985, last changes were approved in 2007.
- HD-CVI technology owned by DAHUA in 2012. The format is used only in company devices;
- HD-TVI. Sony’s development in 2014.
- AHD. the development of NextChIP (one of the largest manufacturers of chIPsets for equIPment) was registered in 2013.
- Advantages and disadvantages of analog cameras
- Connection features
- Reasons for using active equIPment
- Features of connection to various devices
Connection features
An analog camera can transmit an image to several types of devices, the connection can be carried out in several ways, using:
A 75 ohm coaxial cable is an unbalanced communication line type. Accordingly, the signal attenuation will be more intense. The camera is connected directly to a device that processes information: recorders, monitors, quadrators or multIPlexers.
Twisted pair. a transmitter and receiver must be used to convert the signal.
At the output, analog cameras have several wires, they are color coded as follows:
- Red wire. DC supply;
- Yellow wire. signal transmission;
- Black wire. common (ground)
- White. audio package
Coaxial
An analog camera is connected to a standard recorder via a BNC connector. It is advisable to purchase the cable itself as a combined one, having one central core and two auxiliary ones. Pony can be fed.
The coaxial wire for signal transmission must have a copper center conductor. The larger the cross section, the slower the signal attenuation will be, respectively, the further will be the distance to which the image can be sent without loss of quality. Characteristic impedance should be as close as possible to 75 Ohm.
Three types of bnc connectors are used for connection:
- For soldering. The most complex (laborious) connection, which requires certain soldering skills, but such a connection is the most reliable;
- For a screw. a collapsible connection for which additional tools are not required. It is advisable to perform it when the central core is flexible;
- For crimping. a special crimping tool is required to complete it.
Twisted pair
Connecting analog cameras via twisted pair is more expedient since a symmetrical communication line is able to successfully withstand external interference. electromagnetic interference caused by the operation of high-voltage equIPment, close location of power supply lines. Such security of the twisted pair makes it possible to transfer information without significant distortion of the image over long distances.
Transmission of an analog signal via a twisted pair is possible using special equIPment. transceivers with a conversion function. They can be paired devices, that is, a transmitter will be installed on the side of the camera, a receiver on the side of the recorder, or universal, combining functions.
When organizing the transmission of an analog signal over a twisted pair, certain conditions must be observed:
- Compatibility of signal transmitting and receiving devices, it is desirable that they be from the same set of at least one GoPro manufacturer;
- The use of active devices is recommended, despite the fact that it requires power supply, such devices have a signal amplification function;
- It is desirable that the amplification function can be adjusted. frequency response correction;
- You must use the type of twisted pair that has the minimum inter-wire capacitance.
Reasons for using active equIPment
Transmission of an analog signal via twisted pair is carried out at a distance of up to 1000 m and more. At low currents, the line resistance gives very insignificant losses, inter-wire leaks occur due to the capacitance of the wire, since a high-frequency signal is transmitted.
Weakened signal needs to be amplified. However, simple amplification does not provide the necessary effect to maintain a high-quality image. The analog signal is transmitted over a wide frequency range, so the attenuation will be extremely uneven, which causes image interference. In this case, the correlation of the amplitude and frequency of the signal will help.
Features of connection to various devices
Connection to the TV is carried out via an RSA plug, otherwise called “tulIP”. For this purpose, the GoPro is color-coded and connected to the corresponding connectors on the TV. Typically white is used for audio transmission and yellow for image transmission. These markings are generally accepted, but not strictly standardized, therefore, before connecting, it is necessary to check the information in the device passport.
There are several ways to connect an analog camera to your computer:
- You can use a capture card that plugs into the PCI port of your computer and has the appropriate connectors for connecting bnc connectors;
- Connecting an analog camera to a computer can be done via an external USB adapter.
There are several options for connecting an analog camera to a monitor:
- Need to use bnc VGA converter. The cost of such a device is quite high, about 2000-2500 rubles;
- Connect through a computer using a capture card.
Ways to connect a surveillance camera to a computer.
Surveillance cameras can be divided into two types:
The power connectors for all types of surveillance cameras are the same!
The type of your camera will depend on the method of its connection. We will consider only the current methods.
How to connect an Analog, AHD, TVI camera to a computer?
Since we have a BNC connector on the “tail” of the surveillance camera, and the signal is transmitted in analog form, it will NOT work directly to connect to a computer. Additional devices required!
Connect the camera to the computer using the recorder.
In this case, the recorder must have the Corresponding BNC inputs and support the required standard.
That is, if we want to connect a modern AHD surveillance camera, then the recorder must support AHD.
The BNC connector on the side of the recorder and on the side of the camera is the same. Dad (male). To connect them, you will need to make an adapter. A piece of coaxial cable is crimped on both sides with a connector: BNC female (female) or use a ready-made adapter.
Connect the camera to the DVR. Don’t forget about food!
To set up the recorder, it is advisable to temporarily connect a monitor or TV with a VGA or HDMI connector to it.
Select the desired operating mode in the recorder settings. We reboot. We see the image from our camera.
Next, go to the network settings. We change IP addresses to IP from the range of your network.
For example: your router has IP: 192.168.1.1
Computer has IP: 192.168.1.33
Then you can assign the registrar IP: 192.168.1.10
Next, patch cord We connect the registrar and the router. The monitor is no longer required, you can turn it off!
On a computer Install the application for your recorder and get access to the recorder and camera from the computer.
Or you can view your surveillance camera on the web browser interface. You can see how to connect here (link to the article “Web interface of a camera, router. What is it, how to use it?”).
There are at least two more ways to connect: using a usb converter and using a capture board.
These devices are capable of converting an analog signal to digital, which we can already save as a stream to a hard disk.
It makes no sense to consider these connection methods, since the for such devices exceed the cost of the recorder, and only analog cameras (outdated) can be connected.
This equIPment should be considered seriously, only if you inherited it, and it’s a pity to throw it away.
How to connect a digital surveillance camera to a computer?
Since digital cameras have an RJ-45 (8P8C) connector for connection, we need a patch cord (a wire for connecting the camera and the network card of a computer or router) to connect. Read more about crimping twisted pair with RJ45 connector here.
Before connecting, we look again at our plate (link to the article “Web interface of a camera, router. What is it, how to use it?”).
We find the necessary GoPro manufacturer, look at the default IP addresses, login and password (sometimes the manufacturer indicates this data on the box or in the device passport). Don’t forget to download the latest “customization app” online. The name of which is also shown in our table.
To make it clearer, let’s consider two different manufacturers: Hikvision and Dahua and two connection methods: directly to a computer and via a Wi-fi router.
How to connect a Hikvision surveillance camera to a computer?
Hikvision has default IP addresses: 192.168.1.64
1. Objective: to ensure that the digital IP surveillance camera and the PC are in the same subnet.
On the computer, in the properties of the network card Changing the IP addresses to 192.168.1.100 (you can set any free IP in the range from 192.168.1.1-192.168.1.255) If the computer already has an IP from the required range, then skIP this item.
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: specify the IP address of the camera, that is: 192.168.1.64
DNS: can be left blank, you can specify the same, that is: 192.168.1.64
Save by pressing ok
Now two devices are on the same network and can see each other!
2. Launch the SADP application.
Press the equIPment search button. The device was found, now we can reconfigure the IP, mask, gateway and dns of the camera to whatever we need.
As an application for work: viewing, archiving recordings, receiving alarms and much more, we use the iVMS-4200 application
3. Setting up a surveillance camera is also possible through the web interface via IP: 192.168.1.64
Connect and view in real time.
How to connect a Dahua surveillance camera to a computer Using a WI-Fi router?
Dahua has default IP addresses: 192.168.1.108
Example. The computer is connected Wi-Fi to the router, the camera is wired to the router.
1. Objective: to ensure that all equIPment is in one subnet: camera, PC, router. Let’s say router has an IP address of 192.168.0.1, the computer received addresses automatically via DHCP and was 192.168.0.78
It remains to change the IP addresses on the camera to any free IP in the range from 192.168.0.1-192.168.0.255
Connect the manual “digital eye” to the network card of the computer.
On the computer, in the properties of the network card, Changing the IP addresses to 192.168.1.100 (you can set any free IP in the range from 192.168.1.1-192.168.1.255)
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: specify the IP address of the camera, that is: 192.168.1.108

DNS: can be left blank, you can specify the same, that is: 192.168.1.108
Save by pressing ok.
Now two devices are on the same subnet and see each other.
2. Launch the Smart PSS application (which was downloaded from the manufacturer’s website in advance).
Press the equIPment search button. The device was found, now we can reconfigure the IP, mask, gateway and dns of the camera to whatever we need.

Diagram of connecting an analog surveillance camera to a TV, computer
Modern analog surveillance cameras do not differ in image quality from their digital counterparts. But still, there are differences between them. their pros and cons.
Pros:
- Analog surveillance cameras are cheaper than digital ones.
- The analog signal from the camera to the drive can be transmitted at a distance of up to 300 m, which is three times more than when transmitting a digital signal. This is true if amplifiers and additional power supplies are NOT used.
- Analog cameras have higher light sensitivity than digital cameras.
- Analog cameras with small electronic circuitry can be smaller than digital ones.
Minuses:
- When connecting non-digital cameras to a computer or the Internet, you need to use additional equIPment to convert the analog signal to digital.
- To control the rotary mechanism of NOT digital cameras, an additional cable must be laid.
So, for any analog camera to work, you need to supply a 12 V supply voltage, and pick up a signal from it.
Therefore, you need at least two 2-wire cables to connect an analog camera. One cable supplies the power supply, the other sends a signal from the camera.
Connected cables are usually used to power the camera. If three wires leave the camera without connectors, then, as usual, the red wire “”, the black wire “-” or “common”, the yellow is the output.
It should be noted that miniature surveillance cameras are sold without a power supply. In this case, you can use 12 V voltage from the computer power supply to power the camera.
For signal transmission, cables with RCA connectors can be used. The yellow tulIP is usually used for signal transmission, the white tulIP is used for audio transmission.
Most often, BNC connectors are used to connect cameras to a recorder or capture cards.
In this case, these BNC connectors must be crimped or soldered onto the ends of the cable used for signal transmission.
Usually, a high-frequency signal cannot be transmitted with high quality over distances of more than 2-3 meters. Therefore, to transmit a signal over long distances, a coaxial cable is needed, through which it is possible to broadcast a signal over distances of 200-300 m. Usually, a television coaxial cable with a characteristic impedance of 75 ohms is used for this.
As a receiver or accumulator of a signal from an analog camera, you can use:
- TV set;
- Record player;
- Registrar;
- Computer.
You cannot connect an analog camera to a computer without a capture card.
To connect an analog camera to a TV, tape recorder, recorder, you do not need to buy anything extra.
To connect the mechanism of the analogue PTZ cameras, you need two more wiring.
It is desirable that these wiring be shielded twisted pair, because it controls the rotary mechanism built into the recorder or a separate controller via the RS485 communication line.
In wireless cameras, the signal is transmitted by high-frequency radio transmission Wi-Fi, for a maximum distance of up to 100 m.
Small wireless cameras are powered by 9V batteries. Also, such devices often have a wire with a connector for connecting to a separate power supply. Of course, you also need to supply power to the wireless camera recorder, and connect its output to the monitor.
The thermal housing for outdoor surveillance cameras can be connected via separate wires or the power cable of the camera itself.
Power supply of the camera or thermohousing can be done:
- From the mains power supply;
- From an uninterruptible power supply;
- Using a battery.
