How to connect a bluetooth speaker to a laptop via bluetooth
Headphones and speakers on Bluetooth have long been widespread. The advantages of portable speakers are obvious. They are convenient, portable, you do not need to look for a suitable connector for connection, and modern manufacturers are able to provide high-quality and deep sound even on the smallest models.
Often, portable speakers are connected to smartphones, as the native speakers on the phones cannot provide normal sound quality. The same applies to laptops. The own acoustic system of such devices leaves much to be desired, so the use of portable speakers is a completely justified action. Most laptops have significant problems with the sound quality of their own speakers. Therefore, the connection of additional equipment is justified. Wireless speaker has better sound than a laptop’s own audio system.
Before connecting a portable speaker to a laptop, you must first configure Bluetooth on your computer.
Bluetooth setup is different for different Windows OS variations.
- Windows 7. You need to click “Start”. “Control Panel”. Then you need to find the item “Network and Sharing Center” and select “Change adapter settings” in the left menu. Then click “Bluetooth Network Connections”. “Enable”. Bluetooth is also enabled by Fn F2.

How to connect a Bluetooth speaker to a phone: 2 proven options for 2 OS
There are two options for connecting a Bluetooth speaker to a phone: a wired connection or via Bluetooth. Which method is better? What is the difference between connecting a speaker to a mobile gadget on Android and iPhone (for example, 11 Pro Max 64GB Silver)? What difficulties can a user face when connecting? These issues are highlighted in the material.
Connection depending on the phone
If mobile gadgets are equipped with Android OS, the connection to Bluetooth takes place in a couple of clicks: turn on the Bluetooth function, configure the necessary parameters and start pairing with other devices.
With regard to connecting the music speaker to the iPhone, the steps are slightly different from the previous option. But users of both smartphones and iPhones will cope with this task without any problems.
Wired connection
This requires a two-way audio cable (AUX) or USB and AUX cables. The first option refers to audio speakers (they have a built-in battery or are connected to the network for charging). The second is used in the absence of these power supply elements, when a smartphone acts as a battery for a musical gadget.
Audio cable (AUX). a wire, the two ends of which have one 3.5 mm mini-jack. One end is inserted into the desired speaker jack, the other into the phone’s headphone jack. The connection of devices is completed by turning on the speaker. After connecting, the screen of the gadget should display the inscription “Audio jack is connected”.
In the case of the second connection option, the user needs to have:
- AUX and USB cables;
- micro USB to regular USB adapter.
- Connect the USB adapter to the phone.
- Insert the speaker cable into the USB connector.
- Use the AUX cable in a special jack to connect gadgets to each other to play music.
With a cable, the user is dependent on both the phone and the speaker, because when moving around you need to carry both devices with you. But, despite this disadvantage, the sound will be transmitted without loss. In this case, the battery charge is consumed slowly, but a compact power bank will not be superfluous. The device will help out if the user forgets to charge the phone.
Wireless connection
A universal method that does not require the use of wires. But this is an energy-consuming option. Its disadvantage is that the sound may not be of very high quality due to the transmission in a compressed format (does not apply to devices that support AptX).
The connection is made using Bluetooth. If the speaker and smartphone are equipped with NFC chips, the connection is easier. Data exchange between devices is automatic, you need to attach the speaker to the back of the mobile gadget, and then confirm the action on the phone (“Ok”). There will be no connection problems even if Bluetooth chips of different versions are built into the speaker and smartphone.
If the phone does not have this type of chip, the connection will have to be done manually. For this you need:
- Activate the wireless speaker and turn on the Bluetooth button.
- In a smartphone, pull the “curtain” at the top of the screen and press the Bluetooth button. If this function is not available on the quick access panel, you need to: open the phone settings, go to the “Connected devices”. “Bluetooth” section, move the slider to the right to enable.
- After searching on the screen of the mobile gadget, all Bluetooth devices that are nearby will be displayed.
- Choose a name that matches the speaker model. Tap on it. the connection of gadgets will start.
- Successful pairing may require entering a code or holding the power button for a few seconds.
The next time you connect, data will be exchanged automatically when Bluetooth is turned on on both devices.
Turning on the speaker via Bluetooth on the phone: possible problems
Before turning on Bluetooth, you need to make sure that the music acoustics are working. After pressing the power button of the music device, a special indicator should light up. He confirms the readiness to work. The absence of a light signal or a blinking LED may indicate the need to charge the battery.
Detailed instructions in the previous sections answered in detail how to connect the speaker to the phone via the Bluetooth function. Below are the difficulties that may arise during the connection:

Connecting a wired speaker to the phone via USB and AUX
If the speakers do not have their own power source (for example, some ancient Sven speakers) and can only be powered via USB, then to connect you will need:
- Adapter from regular USB to mini or micro USB (depending on your phone model)
- USB cable
- AUX. cable.
- Insert the adapter into the phone jack, and into it the USB cable from the speakers. Connect the other end of the USB cable to the speakers themselves. Thus, the phone will be used as a power source

Do you want to enjoy your favorite music on your mobile device, but the volume and bass are not enough for you? Read our instructions and you will learn how to connect the speaker to the phone in three different ways:
- Via bluetooth
- Via USB and AUX cable (if the speakers do not have their own power supply)
- With an AUX cable (if the speakers have their own power supply)
If you know how to connect, but you can’t do it, at the bottom of the article we have collected recommendations that can help solve the problem.
Connecting a speaker via an AUX cable
To connect the speaker to the phone via AUX, it is necessary that the speakers have their own power source (battery or plug for connecting to an outlet).
- Include columns
- Insert one end of the cable into the headphone jack on the speakers
- Insert the other end into the 3.5mm jack on the phone
An icon or signature with the text “Audio jack is connected” should appear on the display of the mobile device.
If the speaker does not connect to the phone
If the speaker does not connect to the phone via Bluetooth, or the connection is made, but the sound from the speaker does not come, then try the following recommendations:
- Restart your phone first (it helps a lot)
- Make sure the speaker is in Bluetooth mode correctly. Usually this can be seen by the indicator on the dynamics, but to be sure, look at the instructions.
- Make sure there are no other Bluetooth connections (such as headphones) at the moment. The phone can only connect to one gadget at a time.
- Some speakers have a “weak” Bluetooth module and only work in close proximity to the smartphone. To eliminate the influence of this fact, try connecting two devices at a minimum distance from each other.
- Reset the speaker settings. It is usually done by pressing multiple buttons at the same time. The combinations vary from model to model, so see your speaker manual.
- If the connection was made, but the sound does not go, then try to break the connection, and then, in the Bluetooth settings menu of the phone, click on the name of the speaker, and then select the “Forget this device” item. After that, search for available devices again and try to connect.
- Try connecting your smartphone to another device. If it also does not connect to it, then most likely there is a software malfunction. In this case (if rebooting or updating the system did not help), do a factory reset on your phone.
- If none of the above helped us, then perhaps there is a malfunction in the Bluetooh module of one of the devices. In this case, it is worth contacting specialists.

- trite Bluetooth is not included. Check it out. If so, move the slider to the “ON” position;
- the column is discharged. It is also very easy to check: we change the batteries or connect to the network;
- the equipment has already been connected to another device. The first connection is made automatically, and after that the basic data is saved in the column settings. If your equipment has already been in operation, then it is worth paying attention to this. Reset the device and try to reconnect.
We hope that the article was helpful and you fixed the problem when Bluetooth does not see the speaker. Now you can fully use the new equipment and experience all the delights of sound technology.
Hello dear readers! Wireless speakers are gaining more and more popularity due to their ease of use and practicality: you can connect such a device to any source that can transmit a signal via Bluetooth, they are easy to transport and do not take up much space, but at the same time they often sound of acceptable quality.
In today’s post, we will analyze how to connect a Bluetooth speaker to a computer.
Wire connection
Almost all speakers have a 3.5 mm mini-jack. It allows you to eliminate the influence of the quality of the Bluetooth signal on the sound. Found it? Don’t be in a hurry to rejoice. You need to check that this is an input and not a headphone output. Just look at the information in the instructions or the sidebar. If there is an inscription “AUX”, then you can connect an audio cable. What Russian does not like practice! For those who are not used to trusting what has been written, we suggest simply plugging in headphones. No sound? So it’s time to connect the audio cable.
Why use a portable speaker
The vast majority of laptops, in terms of sound quality, are not very good, to put it mildly. As a rule, they are equipped with small speakers, which not only cannot play loud enough, but also hardly cope with low frequencies.
When watching a movie, this is still acceptable, but for music this quality is not suitable.
In conjunction with any portable device. laptop, netbook, tablet or smartphone, a portable speaker, equipped with a built-in battery or powered by batteries, shows itself better.
It’s easy to connect JBL or any other speaker to your laptop, no matter what OS is installed. Windows 7, Windows 10, G8 or Vista.
Almost all modern laptops are equipped with a built-in Bluetooth transmitter, with which you can also connect a mouse, keyboard, gamepad or headphones. At the same time, installation of drivers and complex manipulations with settings will not be required.
When connecting a wireless JBL to a PC, everything is a little more complicated. as a rule, there is no “blue tooth” in a desktop PC. You will have to additionally purchase a universal adapter that connects via the USB port.
Separately, it should be noted that a similar “stray” from a wireless mouse or keyboard, most likely, will not work. it simply will not connect with the speaker, since it is designed only for connecting a “native” device.
Generally, a universal adapter is a plug-n-play device, so it will install drivers immediately after connecting to a computer for the first time. Otherwise, you will have to install them yourself from the disc that comes with the kit.
Wired connection
If your speaker has a 3.5mm mini-jack, then you’re in luck. If available, the sound quality will depend only on the implementation of the speakers, and not on the stability of signal reception and the Bluetooth version. However, you should make sure that this is an input and not an output. This can be done in two ways:
- Look at the speaker case or in the instruction manual. the word “AUX” should appear near the 3.5 mm jack. This means that it is designed to connect an audio cable.
- Try connecting headphones to the sounding speakers. If music starts playing in them, then this is an exit, not an entrance. If there is no effect, then this is an audio input. How to make the speaker play without connecting to a smartphone? Insert a memory card with music, or activate the radio. Of course, if only the portable speaker has these functions.
When using a cable, you are somewhat limited in the movement of the speaker. it will have to be moved along with the phone. But on the other hand, the sound is transmitted through the wire in the maximum volume, without distortion and loss. And the battery charge of the smartphone will be consumed very slowly, as in the case of listening to music using headphones.
The speaker does not connect via Bluetooth to the laptop
Surround sound enthusiasts are constantly striving to improve their home playback systems. This is understandable. it is more pleasant to watch your favorite movie on a laptop with high-quality soundtrack. For this purpose, any external sound production device, for example, a wireless speaker, can easily cope. The case is small. how to connect it to a computer?
How to connect a Bluetooth speaker to a laptop
First, you should check if your laptop has a Bluetooth module. It is very easy to do this:
- On the keyboard, simultaneously press “Win” and “R”.
- In the line of the “Run” window, type the command “devmgmt.msc” and press the “OK” key to open the “Device Manager”.
If the “Bluetooth” section is not in the list, open the “View” menu at the top of the window and check the “Show hidden devices” checkbox. After that, the device will probably appear.
After we found out that working with Bluetooth is possible, turn it on. To do this, open the side panel (on Windows 8 and 10), which is located in the lower right corner, where we activate Bluetooth by clicking. If you are working in Windows 7, then on the lower toolbar open the “curtain” (“checkmark” on the right next to the date and time), find, among others, the Bluetooth icon, right-click on it and turn it on. Of course, this tray icon may not be present. In a similar situation, go to the “Control Panel”, and then open the “Network and Sharing Center”. At the bottom left there is an item “Change adapter parameters”. open it. Further:
- right-click on “Bluetooth Network Connection” and select “Properties”;
- in the window that opens, click “Bluetooth” and turn on the network with the switch of the same name.
So, everything is ready: the wireless data transfer on your laptop is active, it remains only to achieve pairing with the speaker.
We turn on the speaker itself and Bluetooth on it (either there should be a button with the wireless module icon, or you need to hold down the on / off button and hold it for a while). When Bluetooth is activated, the indicator on the device will flash.
Now all setup will take place on the laptop. In the system tray (“shutter” in the lower right corner), find the desired icon, right-click on it and select “Add device” from the list. After the module finds the column, we establish a connection. You can do it according to another algorithm:
- open “Settings” (gear icon in “Start”);
- open the “Devices” tab and select “Bluetooth and other devices” in the list on the left;
- if the desired name is not in the lists, then click on the “” at the top;
- we wait until the search is completed, select the name of the column and connect.
Why the laptop does not see the Bluetooth speaker
What if everything is connected and the device remains invisible? Let’s figure it out.
Most likely the problem is in outdated drivers. The fix is very easy:
- you need to open the “Device Manager” (at the beginning of the article it was said about how this can be done);
- go to the “Bluetooth” section;
- check if there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark next to the name of the installed module. if there is one, then we start updating;
- download the latest version of the required driver from the official support site of your laptop and install it.
Important! Sometimes there are times when the device is successfully connected, but still does not work. In such situations, it is necessary to download drivers not to the wireless network adapter, but to the speaker itself.
If it’s not about the drivers, then it’s worth checking out one more nuance. In the “Settings” when setting up the connection, the checkboxes “Allow Bluetooth devices to find this computer” and “Show Bluetooth icon in the notification area” should be ticked. Windows 10 users need to go to “Other Bluetooth Settings” (see the list on the right).
Done! Now your laptop will find devices in the access zone and will be able to connect to them without any problems.

- On the PC, select the “Add device” item and wait until it finds an activated speaker system. The process may take several minutes, but usually it takes less.
- After that, a pop-up window should appear with a message that your column has been found and connected.
- Click the “Finish” button. Sound should automatically be routed to the speaker.
In the “Device settings and application volume” menu, an option is available to output sound from different sources to different playback devices. for example, system sounds or the “croaking” of the messenger to the built-in laptop speakers, and music to a portable speaker system.
To do this, you need to change the settings by specifying the playback device for each source by selecting it in the drop-down list.
In Windows 7, pairing is much easier. the wireless icon appears in the system tray immediately after activating the Bluetooth module. After setting the speaker to pairing mode, right-click on this icon and select “Add device”.
The computer will find the speaker and automatically redirect sound to it.
Wire connection
Many portable speaker models support cable connection to an audio source. As a rule, such a device is equipped with a 3.5 mm jack slot labeled AUDIO IN or INPUT.
However, this end of the wire can be soldered to the core of the speaker and unwound if necessary. The other end of the cable with the same 3.5 mm jack should be inserted into a green or light green socket on the back of the computer or into the socket with the headphone icon on a laptop. Usually, no additional settings are required after this.
As you can see, connecting a wireless speaker to a PC is much easier than even choosing a suitable model. Read about which brands of computer acoustics manufacturers are better here.
I also recommend that you familiarize yourself with the publication “What is the power of speakers” and with a universal way to configure a gaming mouse on a computer. I would be grateful to everyone who shares this post on social networks. See you tomorrow. Bye!
