Camera power

The camera is powered by an electric current with a stabilized rectified voltage of 12 V and a power of no more than 0.7Am. Some models have short-circuit protection at the outputs. Remember that according to the instructions for use, this device will last a long time, if you observe the temperature regime from 10 ° C to 40 ° C and the air humidity does not exceed 80%.

The video signal from the camera to a TV, portable DVD player, etc. passes through a regular coaxial cable. These cables are used in everyday life in order to connect ordinary television equipment.

How to connect a rear view camera?

If you decide to install a rear-view camera, then keep in mind that the models are different and one instruction on how to install a rear-view camera does not fit all options. First, the installation is done in different locations. Secondly, the connection can be made, both for continuous operation of the camera, and for turning it on only when the engine is started.

The wiring diagram is still almost the same for all models, it only requires clarification where to install the rear-view camera. It is also clear that this device in the conditions of modern traffic becomes simply irreplaceable on the roads and greatly simplifies the life of drivers.

Rear view camera connection diagram

  • In the question of how to put a rear view camera, you can’t go wrong if you know what is connected to what. We have 3 wires. black (“minus”), red (“plus”), yellow (“video”). Our task is to connect the yellow connector to the input of a monitor or TV. We connect the black one to the mass of the battery, the red wire is connected directly to the camera.
  • If you want the monitor to turn on automatically when the car is driving backward, connect a dedicated wire to the reversing lamps. Such a wire is provided in those models that have a similar function. Pay attention to the wires, do not confuse, as this is fraught with damaged equipment if your model does not have appropriate protection, when the gadget simply does not work.
  • Many camera models have “outlets” wires. You just need to connect the coaxial video cable. Power cord is also included.
  • There is such a connection method when you need to crimp the wires and connect through the appropriate connectors. Some manufacturers have taken care of those buyers who do not know how to connect a rear view camera and therefore simplified the task by implementing a standard RCA connector known to all as “tulip”. It just needs to be connected to the video input on the radio tape recorder.

Purpose and operation of rear-view cameras

The function of this equipment is to facilitate car parking or reversing. The camera is indispensable in conditions of limited visibility or with a small space for maneuvering. The camera in traffic jams and in heavy traffic has also justified itself as a means that additionally prevents collisions due to an incorrectly selected distance by a vehicle walking behind.

The camera is very tiny, with a diameter of about 2 centimeters with a viewing angle of almost 180 °. Cameras broadcast a fairly clear color image. With a sensitivity of at least 0.1 lux, it is realistic to see objects in the dark. Cameras are produced in a waterproof design.

Checking on TV

You can check the rear view camera before installing it on the car using the TV. First you need to prepare the power supply. Its role can be played by a 12V car charger or a battery for a computer UPS with similar characteristics. If the camcorder is rated for a lower voltage, you can use an adjustable laboratory power supply.

If necessary, the power supply can be made of 8 D-size batteries connected in series. Plus is fed to the red wire, which is protected by a fuse with a rating of at least 0.5 A during the test. Minus is connected to the black wire or to the outer side contact of the video cable.

The next step is to test the functionality of the camera using the TV. This requires that it be equipped with a composite video output with a yellow tulip socket. The devices are connected using an RCA-RCA video cable. Then the TV switches to the required signal source.

After that, power is supplied to the rear view camera. At this moment, an image of objects in the lens will appear on the TV. Brightness, contrast, color and clarity should be sufficient to distinguish between small and large details. If the image is blurry, then you should check if the filter is on the camera lens and remove it if necessary. You also need to make sure that the lenses are not dirty.

The image may be skewed around the edges. this is normal for car cameras.

Using the TV, you can check the functionality of the microphone built into the device. First, you should find another tulip nest in white or red in the bundle. If it is present, then there is a microphone.

In this case, the audio output connector is connected with another shielded cable to the corresponding jack on the TV. Then, power on the camera and point the microphone towards the TV speakers. In case of operability, a loud howling sound will be heard, which will disappear if you move the device away. Chaotic stripes will appear on the CRT TV screen. The camera tested in this way can be installed on a car.

When parking, it is necessary to monitor the rear of the vehicle. Any driver, regardless of experience, sooner or later encounters a situation where rear-view mirrors are not enough. Parking becomes especially difficult with a station wagon or a pickup truck, which are famous for their small viewing angle. There is a solution for this task. a rear view camera.

Stationary camera

This model is often part of the vehicle configuration. In other words, its installation is not required, since the installation was carried out during the production of the machine. Or the manufacturer has previously allocated a special niche for its installation. For some configurations, it is not available. In such cases, the owner independently decides on the installation.

A rearview camera with a mirror often has an option to automatically connect when the car is moving backward. This helps the driver avoid parking errors and improves visibility in heavy rain or fog. As a rule, all factory models are bumper mounted. In the event of a malfunction, it is recommended to contact the car service.

All the versatility of this device lies in its versatility. Operation can be carried out by mounting the device under a car registration plate, in a metal case on the rear surface of the trunk, or it can be located on special brackets. Some models are supposed to be equipped with a device that allows you to change the angle of view by rotating the camera. The main advantage of this model is the ability to use it in different places. Connecting a rear view camera to the radio is simple.

How to choose a rear view camera

Choosing a rear view camera is a responsible occupation that requires taking into account all the characteristics of the equipment. Nuances that can be encountered using a DVR with a rear view camera:

  • First, evaluate the appearance of the device, since its open location will inevitably attract the views of others and affect the appearance of the entire car.
  • Then you need to decide on the output of the image. When purchasing equipment, the owner of the car should already clearly understand where the signal will go. The best rear view camera for a car should be selected individually.
  • Each model has a specific method of signal transmission to the receiver module (wireless and wired).

Installing a rear view camera

First, you need to determine the future location of the device. Most car owners prefer to do this above the license plate.

  • This will require dismantling the tailgate trim. Then, having decided on the installation site, remove the cover from the back of the door.
  • Detach the cover, which provides illumination of the registration number, and install the device instead.
  • It is necessary to carry out the connection to the side lights, after which the previously removed outer linings can be returned to their place. The final step will be to lengthen the power wires and connect the rear view camera to the receiver module through a corrugated pipe with other wiring running under the headliner in the car.

Installing a wireless rear view camera

Depending on the location of the device, you will need to get self-tapping screws, pliers and a screwdriver. When mounted on a registration plate, fixation occurs due to a pair of self-tapping screws and a screwdriver. When deciding to mount a wireless camera in a lighting shade, pay attention to equipment that is equipped with a transitional glass. Thanks to it, you can preserve the backlight made by the manufacturer. An easy way to install the rear view camera is through the bumper surface. Only one hole needs to be made.

How to check the health of the rear view camera

When you need to install and connect a rear view camera yourself, it is difficult to find the correct and understandable connection diagrams. Especially for European cars with lamp health monitoring, where everything is fine until you start the engine. Disabling the VAG lamp health check with a cord through the VCDS program (Vasya Diagnost) does not help! Asian cars do not have such problems and you do not need to fence anything and you can not read further!
Attention. before installing the camera, check its operation on an uncranked engine. if there is interference. you can not read further. deal with the camera, wires, radio tape recorder.
My circuit is only for a running engine, when the interference is formed by a lamp health control, which is a PWM controller with positive rectangular pulses. The spiral of an incandescent lamp has inertia and a voltage change is not noticeable on it, but on the camera this manifests itself as interference in the image, flickering, curvature, signal loss, etc.
Having experience in radio electronics, I drew personally verified diagrams for connecting a rear view camera, which have already helped a lot of people.
Blue underlined text are hyperlinks to be clicked on
The process of my own installation on a VW Caddy with lamp health monitoring is described in detail by me in the Kaddy’s onboard here: Installing and connecting a rear view camera on a VW without interference with power!

We use the camera with a CCD sensor, since it produces a high-quality picture at any time of the day (you can clearly see that the picture is noticeably better than that of CMOS), with dust and moisture protection IP 68 and work in the dark. For example, this Swift HD CCD Luxur W-989: HD CCD Car Rearview Camera Waterproof night vision Wide Angle reversing with a combined socket-boss with a stub. This is a great lens camera from Sony, personally tested! Everything is visible even at night (photo below). At the same time, it costs less than 1000 re!
The only downside is that it does not have the widest angle of view, as the hedgehog thinks04, as for me the viewing angle is so good, maybe he has a different camera.
We also make sure that there is no flare from the backlight of the room, if the camera is close!
The camera has an operating voltage of 5 to 30 V, a maximum current of 90 mA (

0.1 A), it works from 3.3 V. there is a stabilizer in a plastic boss on the wire in front of the wire connector from the camera. It can overheat if it works constantly, so we only power it when the radio monitor is turned on.

Eliminating noise in the image from the camera when the engine is running

Every car owner faces the problem of camera operation on a running engine with monitoring the health of the lamps. Always think over and draw a connection diagram before installation. this will help immediately avoid many mistakes and problems!
Try to start by connecting the camera directly to the cigarette lighter to the plus and minus and look at the running engine. Connect the minus correctly! Take the minus away from the reversing lights (ZX), for example, from some bolt on the body, or even without a minus at all. the minus will be taken from the radio tape recorder via a shielded coaxial video transmission cable. Also, they often mistakenly take a plus from the salon lamp, and the excitation wire (to turn on the monitor) from the ZX lamps. But the interior lighting also has lamp monitoring! Plus, at 87, the relay contact must be taken from the cigarette lighter, and the camera power wire and the excitation wire must be connected to the 30th contact of the relay output! You can also take a clean plus from the ACC ignition lock.

Interference in the power supply gives the control of the operation of the lamps when the engine is running. And this pulse current goes to the reversing lamps (ZX). Due to the inertia of the spiral, it seems that the ZX lamp is burning continuously, in fact, voltage appears or disappears on it with a high frequency. At the moments of “failures”, the lamp is checked for serviceability. It also happens that charging for phones in the cigarette lighter gives interference, moreover, through the air, that is, only disconnecting charging or shielding the cable helps.
Important!
There is only one working option for connecting the power of the camera out of four.
Only with 4 connection options will the camera work and give a clear picture. Why. written below.
1. If you connect the plus of the camera to the plus of the ZX lamp, then with the engine running, the camera will not work at all due to the pulsed current monitoring the health of the lamps, or strong interference in the form of stripes in the image will be visible.
2. If you connect the plus of the camera to the plus of the ZX lamp through a conventional relay, to which pure power is supplied from the cigarette lighter, the relay will click and the camera will not turn on, since the relay does not provide power.
3. If you connect the plus of the camera to the plus of the ZX lamp through a diode with a smoothing capacitor, then when the engine is running, there is still noticeable interference from the camera in the image due to ripple in the power supply.

By the way, you can quickly check the camera by submitting a video from it to the TV in the yellow entrance for the tulip.

Due to the impulse current monitoring the health of the lamps, the relay clicks quickly and does not turn on! Therefore, a diode is needed for rectifying and a capacitor to smooth out the ripple, and only after them a plus is supplied to the winding so that the relay closes normally.
What is impulse current read here: Pulsating electric current
How the relay cracks, see here: Relay cracking from impulse current
Read about the rectifier here: Low-power power supply, www.cqham.ru/pow2_15.htm
The diode in this case does not work as a rectifier (since there is no negative half-wave here), but as a blocker that prevents the capacitor from quickly discharging into the ZX lamps, maintaining a constant voltage on the relay winding and does not allow it to click.

Eliminate blank screen and RCD radio error when exiting camera mode. Delaying camera shutdown.
When the camera is powered from the reversing lights, as well as turning on the camera mode on the display, when the reverse gear is turned off, it often turns off before the display has time to process the status change and exit the camera mode (delay is about 1-2 seconds) and noise is displayed on some radio tape recorders disconnection and a blank screen of an already disconnected camera. Also, when maneuvering on a narrow stretch of road back and forth, when changing gears, the monitor often turns on / off, which is inconvenient.
Therefore, a simple delay is set to turn off the power of the camera.

The best and simplest solution without using a diode and a capacitor right out of the box is the VAZ-2111 relay for the rear window washer AVAR 454.3747 (or 526.3747-03) with a 5 second delay.
This washer time relay turns on the washer pump for 5 seconds.
The delay can be either reduced or increased by replacing the 22 uF capacitor in this relay.

The second solution is a low-power high-resistance relay and a capacitor with a diode. We supply plus from the ZX lamp through the diode, and then the capacitor and to the relay winding.
The capacitor smooths out the pulsations of the lamp control, allowing the relay coil to close the relay. A diode is required to get rid of the lights, otherwise the capacitor will quickly discharge through the reversing lamps. The relay is precisely low-power with a winding with high resistance =

1 kOhm so that the capacitor does not discharge quickly and there is a delay for a couple of seconds.
A conventional relay will not work here, since it has a winding resistance =

85 Ohm, which is very small and there will be no delay! Installing a 1 kΩ resistor in series will not allow the relay to close at all!

It is possible to calculate the delay time of the relay off in this circuit with a diode and a capacitor.
The discharge time of the capacitor is equal to the product of the capacitance and the resistance, a direct relationship. It is only necessary to take into account that the relay will turn off a little earlier than the conder is completely discharged.
We bring all values to one dimension (farads, ohms, seconds) and count:
Delay time for RC-circuit: T = C R.
where T is the time in seconds, C is the capacitance of the capacitor in farads, R is the resistance of the circuit in ohms
T = 2200 μF 960 Ohm = 0.0022 960 = 2 sec. (quite enough)
For example, you need a delay of at least 8 seconds. for a relay with a 960 Ohm winding:
Capacitor for 8 sec delay: C = T / R 1,000,000 = capacitance in μF
C = 8/960 1,000,000 = 10,000 μF (rounded towards the standard capacitance).

Organization 8 sec. camera power off delays for standard GU RCD 330

Attention! If you have a standard head unit (HU) of the RCD 330 series, then it is imperative that the camera, after turning off the reverse speed, work for at least another 8 seconds. Otherwise, when disconnected, there will be an inscription “Camera is unavailable”.
If you use a circuit on a high-resistance relay, then you need to increase the capacitor rating to 10000 μF.
It is best to use the Relay VAZ-2111 of the rear window washer AVAR 4543747P, increasing the 22 μF capacitor in it to 47 μF 25V and the 470 Ohm resistor to 3.3 kΩ, having obtained the required shutdown delay of 8 seconds. instead of 5 sec. default.
You also need to activate the display activation by CAN bus in the on-board electronics unit (BCM) using a lanyard and the VCDS program (Vasya diagnostician): check the box along the way: 56 block, 3 bytes 6 bits
You can use the REGTAYM3-12- (0-60) relay, to which you can also supply a plus from the ZX lamp through a diode and a capacitor, but only a capacitor no more than 10-50 μF, otherwise there will be too long a shutdown delay!
You can also use a ready-made power filter to connect a rear view camera with image delay on extravag.ru or Aliexpress.
It also happens that in this radio tape recorder the Chinese confuse the pins on the adapter chip from the radio to the cable from the camera: the signal is braided, and the ground on the central core and the image is black and white and crooked! You need to swap them. The display itself is then activated by the CAN bus: a signal from the on-board electronics module (BCM) is sent to activate the display. To forcibly turn on the display, you need to install an additional module “video interface” for 10 thousand rubles.
You can put a special relay with an off delay REGTIME3-12- (0-60) (for on / off and off / on delay of devices for 0-60s).
Attention! The markings on this relay are such that a “view from the contact side” is drawn on top of the relay, and not when looking through the relay.

Connection diagram for pure power supply of the camera through a conventional relay

Attention! We solder the capacitor, observing the polarity, directly to the terminals of the relay winding, and then solder the plus through the diode and minus from the cigarette lighter to them. But it is better to use a high impedance relay!
The light in the diagram is a ZX lamp. Plus from the ZX lamp we feed through the diode to its anode, and from the output. the cathode (where the white strip is) to the 85th contact so that the capacitor does not discharge to the ZX lamp. Therefore, the capacitor is already after the diode.
If voltage is applied to the winding, then pin 30 is connected to pin 87 and a plus goes to it. At 85, the winding contact is supplied with a plus from the reversing lights, rectified by a diode and smoothed by a capacitor! Terminal 86 of the relay coil is connected to negative (ground).

Connection diagram for pure power supply of the camera through a high-impedance relay with a delay

The relay is low-power normally open. In the relay diagram, pins 9 and 13 are a plus for the camera power from the cigarette lighter or rear wiper motor, minus for the camera. from the body (ground). Control to the relay coil. from the ZX lanterns after straightening and smoothing the pulsations. The rating of the capacitor is 25 volts 2200 microfarads, any diode, the resistance of the relay winding must be at least 1 kOhm, these are 1 and 16 contacts. In this case, the relay is disconnected after 2 seconds. On a powerful relay with a low resistance winding, there will be no delay!

Camera block power circuit
When using multiple cameras, it makes sense to use a camera unit that is also powered by the reversing lights. Since there is also a relay in it, it is similarly necessary to straighten and smooth out the ripple with a diode and a capacitor, otherwise the relay clicks quickly, and the camera does not turn on.
It is better to connect from the cigarette lighter through a relay after the rectifier to supply clean power to the unit, otherwise the ripple will go to the power of the cameras and will be noticeable in the image.

Scheme of forced switching on of the camera with a standard button without fixing
Additionally, you can make a separate standard camera power button to see what is happening from behind, without turning on the reverse gear. In this case, you do not need to straighten and smooth the current, since the plus for the camera is taken clean from the cigarette lighter.
The implementation scheme of the fixed button from the standard one using the 23.3777 relay is shown below.
The following additional details will be required:
Schottky diode 1N5818 for backlighting the active mode of the OEM button
Relay 23.3777 fog lights VAZ-2110
Rear fog lamp relay socket (6 contacts) AED
or Terminal (female) 2.8 mm with tinned wire. 5 pcs.
Coaxial cable

Bottom line: the camera works fine and there is no interference (from the word at all)!
If there is still interference, then you can use a car power filter on a choke and two capacitors. electrolytic from 470 μF (to damp ripples below 10 kHz) and ceramic from 0.1 μF (to damp ripples above 10 kHz).

Ragtime-1. turns on the load for a given time
Ragtime-2. turns on the load after a specified time
Ragtime-3. disconnects the load after a specified time after removing the voltage (delay off / holding in the on state for a specified time)

Checking the rear view camera at home is necessary in order to make sure it works. Also in this case, you can evaluate the image quality, viewing angles and the presence of a microphone for observation with sound.

Wireless rear view camera

A camera instead of a rearview mirror is the right solution for the safety of the driver and passengers. This model of the rear view camera is one of the most laborious to install. This is because a simple power supply to the modular receiver is not enough. You will need to connect the reverse cable. Its location depends on the specific make of the car, for example, it can be a gearbox or a dashboard. The main disadvantage of a wireless device is constant interference that inevitably occurs when transmitting radio signals from the camera to the module.

Varieties and criteria for choosing a model

Manufacturers offer a large selection of standard for a specific car model and universal cameras suitable for any car brands. Installation of standard devices does not require damage to the surfaces of the car and drilling holes for fasteners. Such cameras are practically invisible and are most often mounted on the bumper or frame of the license plate. Universal models are installed with screws in any places suitable for installation, and are more visible to others.

The choice of a model is carried out according to the following criteria:

  • type of connection. wired via cable or wireless via radio wave connections;
  • type, size and resolution of the matrix, affecting the image quality;
  • resolution and standard parameters of the video signal;
  • image mode. direct, mirror;
  • photosensitivity of the video camera and the ability to work in the dark;
  • the magnitude of the viewing angle;
  • terms of Use;
  • availability of additional options.

Modern cameras are endowed with many additional functions for the convenience of car operation. Models with tips overlay parking marks on the picture, which help determine the distance to the object and simplify vehicle maneuvering in confined spaces. The presence of IR illumination improves the image quality at night. The dust and moisture protection option ensures stable operation of the device in all weather conditions. Automatic settings help you to set the optimal modes of operation of the rear view camera. The remote control makes it possible to easily control the electronics and, if necessary, change the viewing angle.

Checking the rear view camera with a tester

When they go on sale, all devices are tested and tested, but before installing on a car, it is still advisable to check the purchased device for operability. This can be done using a tester. The current value depends on the resolution of the camera, it is indicated in the technical passport and is 50-200 mA. The tester is included in the break of the positive wire of the device and the readings of the device are measured. If they do not coincide with the passport values of the norm, then the camera is faulty.

Using a tester or multimeter, you can also get information about the video signal level at the output. To check these parameters, it is necessary that the device has a high input impedance and operates in the frequency range up to 50 MHz. The measuring probes of the tester are connected to the central and side contact of the video connector and record the readings of the device. A good video output device has a rating of 1 V.

How to check the rear view camera

The leading position in the list of the most necessary and useful accessories for a car is occupied by a rear view camera. It provides a good view of blind spots, makes parking easier and reduces the risk of vehicle damage while driving backwards. Before buying, you should make sure it works and check all the functionality of the device. Checking the camcorder makes it possible to evaluate the image quality, viewing angle and many other options.

Checking device operation on TV

You can check the operation of the rear view camera before installing it on the car using a TV. First, prepare a power source that can be a car charger or a 12 V computer power supply battery.If the camcorder operates at a lower voltage, it is better to use power supplies with adjustable settings.

A power supply unit with the required characteristics can be made independently from 8 D-size batteries connected in series with each other. Plus is fed to the red wire with a protective fuse rated for at least 0.5 A. Minus is connected to the black wire or to the side contact of the video cable.

After connecting the power supply, you can check the car rear view camera through the TV. To check, the device must have a composite video output with a yellow tulip socket. The devices are connected using an RCA-RCA cable. The TV switches to the appropriate signal source, and then displays pictures from the camera lens. You can check the picture quality and the operation of the built-in microphone using the TV. If you are satisfied with all the parameters, the device can be safely installed on the car.

Checking for faults after installation

Due to improper installation and adjustment of settings, the rear view camera may not work stably, display in an inverted or mirrored image. To identify possible malfunctions and check the correctness of the connection, the following measures should be taken:

  • in case of unstable operation, check the connection cable for integrity and the absence of kinks;
  • if there is no signal, check if the power supply is connected correctly;
  • in case of poor image quality and interference, check the correctness of the camera settings and the positions of the DIP-switches;
  • a white picture on the screen or strong image distortion indicates a mismatch between the parameters of the video camera and the car multimedia system, therefore, a special converter should be installed.

Incorrect connection may damage the vehicle wiring, malfunction, or damage to the device. To avoid such troubles, it is better to entrust the verification, installation and adjustment of cameras to experienced specialists who are well versed in electronics.

Varieties of rear-view cameras

Each rear view camera has its own distinctive mounting features. Today, there are several types of cameras:

  • stationary;
  • universal;
  • mortise;
  • wireless.

Wireless rear view camera

A camera instead of a rearview mirror is the right solution for the safety of the driver and passengers. This model of the rear view camera is one of the most laborious to install. Its location depends on a specific car brand, for example, it can be a gearbox or a dashboard. The main disadvantage of a wireless device is constant interference that inevitably occurs when transmitting radio signals from the camera to the module.

Tester check

The performance of a rear view camera for a car can be easily checked with a tester. First, the current consumed from the power supply is estimated. Its value, depending on the resolution of the device, ranges from 50 to 200 mA. A more accurate value of this value can be found in the technical data sheet. A tester or multimeter is included in the break of the positive wire of the camera. If the consumed current differs from the norm, then the device is faulty.

check, rear, view, camera

Using the tester, you can measure the level (peak-to-peak) of the video signal at the output of the device. This requires that the measuring device has a high input impedance and can operate in a frequency band up to 50 MHz. One of the tester probes is connected to the center pin of the video connector, and the other to the side contact. The nominal composite video output level for a working device is 1 V.

Universal rear view camera

All the versatility of this device lies in its versatility. Operation can be carried out by mounting the device under a car registration plate, in a metal case on the rear surface of the trunk, or it can be located on special brackets. Some models are supposed to be equipped with a device that allows you to change the angle of view by rotating the camera. The main advantage of this model is the ability to use it in different places. Connecting a rear view camera to the radio is simple.

Installing a rear view camera

First, you need to determine the future location of the device. Most car owners prefer to do this above the license plate.

  • This will require dismantling the tailgate trim. Then, having decided on the installation site, remove the cover from the back of the door.

The final step will be to lengthen the power wires and connect the rear view camera to the receiver module through a corrugated pipe with other wiring running under the headliner in the car.

How to check the rear view camera?

If there is no receiver module with a monitor, a check for the health of the equipment can be carried out using a TV. First you need to get some kind of power supply (12 V) and a wire with plugs, in the common people called a tulip.

  • All available devices are connected to the equipment.
  • The yellow plug connects to the AV input, the red plug connects with the power supply plug and plugs into a power outlet.
  • When properly connected, the TV should display the video from the wireless car rear view camera.

Auto Wayfeng WF W-981

The cable length of this model is 6 meters, which emphasizes the possibility of installation in different types of transport. It can transmit a picture with a resolution of 728 × 512 pixels, and you don’t need more. The viewing angle is 170 °, which allows you to control what is happening by capturing a large area. There is IP68 protection, the camera will not fail, even if you completely immerse it in water, you definitely will not have to be afraid of rain. It is capable of operating at temperatures up to 20 °, this is good news for residents of the CIS countries. On Aliexpress, the model was rated 4.8 out of 5.

Trouble-shooting

If the car’s rearview camera stops working, the driver has two choices to fix the problem:

  • Seek help from a car repair technician.
  • Do-it-yourself device repair.

The second option is more in demand due to its availability and low cost.

To restore an accessory after washing or driving in bad weather, it is enough to dry it with a hairdryer or another method. In most cases, this solves the problem and the system works fine again.

The device can also become covered with a layer of dirt, which adheres tightly to it and dries out. You can get rid of dirt with a brush.

If, during the diagnosis, traces of corrosion were found, they will have to be removed. In this case, you can not disassemble the device without eliminating this phenomenon.

Most camera models have two gaskets. One is located on the eyepiece of the device, and the other is installed at the junction of the plastic and metal parts. If the gaskets have been damaged as a result of prolonged and intensive use, they must be replaced.

Reassembly of the instrument is carried out upside-down. The joints are treated with a sealant.

If, after performing such actions, the picture does not appear on the screen, and there is no signal from the device, there may have been a failure in the software of the multimedia system, which receives and processes data from the device.
