Rear view camera connection diagram
If you connect the camera to the ZX lamps simply through a relay with clean power, then the relay bursts like crazy, and the camera does not turn on because the relay does not supply power! Connecting the camera to the radio tape recorder car radio display Connecting the video camera is possible only to radio tape recorders with a liquid crystal display measuring at least 3. 4 inches.

A cord with a tulip connector leaves the new camera. For such installation, cameras made in an oval body are suitable. Purpose and operation of rear-view cameras The function of this equipment is to facilitate car parking or reversing. If your radio does not have such a function, it is disabled or does not work correctly, then you will have to use the button to change the image. There is such a connection method when you need to crimp the wires and connect through the appropriate connectors. Therefore, a diode is needed for rectifying and a capacitor to smooth out the ripple, and only after them a plus is supplied to the winding so that the relay closes normally. Having experience in radio electronics, I drew personally tested rear-view camera wiring diagrams, which have already helped a lot of people. You can assemble such a ready-made module.
Consider the installation of a mirror with a built-in camera, as well as diagrams for connecting an external device to a monitor of a multimedia system. The size of the monitor screen, the quality of the resolution is suitable for work. The PWM controller sends rectangular positive pulses along the power wires to the lighting fixtures, which helps to detect burnout of the rear lights. As a result, the connected camera should not stand out from the overall picture. Monitoring the health of lamps does not apply to the cigarette lighter. so we take a clean plus from it, and a relay is needed to control this plus.

The procedure and diagram for connecting a rear view camera
And now in more detail about how to install and connect the rear view camera to the Pioneer radio. Why this model, because it is the most common. If we take into account the insecurity of our video camera, and the best view, then its place should still be above the number, outside.
It should be installed closer to the edge to improve visibility, but not so that it stands out. The installation of the camera itself does not represent anything complicated. The camera has a bracket required for installation, you only need to drill a couple of holes for the mounting bolts, and one hole for the cable.
And then the rear-view camera is included in the general electrical network of the car. If you are not strong in electrics, then it is better to turn to car service specialists, but if you have at least basic knowledge, then you can quite figure it out on your own. So, the order of connection is in stages:
- Any camera has two wires, one for transmitting the video signal from the camera to the monitor, and the other for power. Since the camera itself has short wires, you will need to build them up so that they are enough from the front panel to the end of the trunk (as a rule, an extension cable for the video signal is included in the kit).
- Where can I get power for the camcorder? Usually the camera is connected to the rear lights. Therefore, immediately after turning on the reverse, the rear view camera is also turned on.
- All wires that are pulled through the cabin and in the trunk must be secured and hidden. This will help to avoid unexpected network interruptions while driving.
- If you use a monitor instead of a radio, you will need to find a power source for it. If you have a Pioneer multimedia recorder, this issue is automatically resolved for you.

Common mistakes when connecting a rear view camera
The cigarette lighter itself takes its brown negative wire from the same bolt on the body.
Diagram of connecting the camera to the display of the car radio. Connecting to the radio tape recorder. In order to display the image on the monitor of the car radio when switching on, the yellow wire must be laid through the passenger compartment and secured with electrical tape. The camera in traffic jams and in heavy traffic has also justified itself as a means of additionally preventing collisions due to an incorrectly selected distance by a vehicle. walking behind.
There are a great variety of models of rear-view video cameras. Wired camcorders are universal, they can be connected to all types of monitors.
The camera is indispensable in conditions of limited visibility or with a small space for maneuvering. On average, the cost of KZV on the market is as follows: 1.
Fault monitoring system lamp
Therefore, a simple delay is set to turn off the power of the camera. Installation methods: in the plafond of the standard license plate lighting. After collecting the entire system, carefully insulate the power wires, check that you have not confused anything in the connection system, and check the operability of the devices.
The disadvantage of the method is in possible interference that will not allow you to clearly display the image from the camera. If you did buy a camera with a different signal standard, use a converter. Signal transmission method.
When you need to install and connect a rear view camera yourself, it is difficult to find the correct and understandable connection diagrams. Especially for European cars with lamp health monitoring, where everything is fine until you start the engine. Disabling the VAG lamp health check with a cord through the VCDS program (Vasya Diagnost) does not help! Asian cars do not have such problems and you do not need to fence anything and you can not read further!
Attention. before installing the camera, check its operation on an uncranked engine. if there is interference. you can not read further. deal with the camera, wires, radio tape recorder.
My circuit is only for a running engine, when the interference is formed by a lamp health control, which is a PWM controller with positive rectangular pulses. The spiral of an incandescent lamp has inertia and a voltage change is not noticeable on it, but on the camera this manifests itself as interference in the image, flickering, curvature, signal loss, etc.
Having experience in radio electronics, I drew personally verified diagrams for connecting a rear view camera, which have already helped a lot of people.

The process of my own installation on a VW Caddy with lamp health monitoring is described in detail by me in the Kaddy’s onboard here: Installing and connecting a rear view camera on a VW without interference with power!
We use the camera with a CCD sensor, since it produces a high-quality picture at any time of the day (you can clearly see that the picture is noticeably better than that of CMOS), with dust and moisture protection IP 68 and work in the dark. For example, this Swift HD CCD Luxur W-989: HD CCD Car Rearview Camera Waterproof night vision Wide Angle reversing with a combined socket-boss with a stub. This is a great lens camera from Sony, personally tested! Everything is visible even at night (photo below). At the same time, it costs less than 1000 re!
The only downside is that it does not have the widest angle of view, as the hedgehog thinks04, as for me the viewing angle is so good, maybe he has a different camera.
We also make sure that there is no flare from the backlight of the room, if the camera is close!
The camera has an operating voltage of 5 to 30 V, a maximum current of 90 mA (
0.1 A), it works from 3.3 V. there is a stabilizer in a plastic boss on the wire in front of the wire connector from the camera. It can overheat if it works constantly, so we only power it when the radio monitor is turned on.
Eliminating noise in the image from the camera when the engine is running
Every car owner faces the problem of camera operation on a running engine with monitoring the health of the lamps. Always think over and draw a connection diagram before installation. this will help immediately avoid many mistakes and problems!
Try to start by connecting the camera directly to the cigarette lighter to the plus and minus and look at the running engine. Connect the minus correctly! Take the minus away from the reversing lights (ZX), for example, from some bolt on the body, or even without a minus at all. the minus will be taken from the radio tape recorder via a shielded coaxial video transmission cable. Also, they often mistakenly take a plus from the salon lamp, and the excitation wire (to turn on the monitor) from the ZX lamps. But the interior lighting also has lamp monitoring! Plus, at 87, the relay contact must be taken from the cigarette lighter, and the camera power wire and the excitation wire must be connected to the 30th contact of the relay output! You can also take a clean plus from the ACC ignition lock.
Interference in the power supply gives the control of the operation of the lamps when the engine is running. And this pulse current goes to the reversing lamps (ZX). Due to the inertia of the spiral, it seems that the ZX lamp is burning continuously, in fact, voltage appears or disappears on it with a high frequency. At the moments of “failures”, the lamp is checked for serviceability. It also happens that charging for phones in the cigarette lighter gives interference, moreover, through the air, that is, only disconnecting charging or shielding the cable helps.
Important!
There is only one working option for connecting the power of the camera out of four.
Only with 4 connection options will the camera work and give a clear picture. Why. written below.
1. If you connect the plus of the camera to the plus of the ZX lamp, then with the engine running, the camera will not work at all due to the pulsed current monitoring the health of the lamps, or strong interference in the form of stripes in the image will be visible.
2. If you connect the plus of the camera to the plus of the ZX lamp through a conventional relay, to which pure power is supplied from the cigarette lighter, the relay will click and the camera will not turn on, since the relay does not provide power.
3. If you connect the plus of the camera to the plus of the ZX lamp through a diode with a smoothing capacitor, then when the engine is running, there is still noticeable interference from the camera in the image due to ripple in the power supply.
By the way, you can quickly check the camera by submitting a video from it to the TV in the yellow entrance for the tulip.
Due to the impulse current monitoring the health of the lamps, the relay clicks quickly and does not turn on! Therefore, a diode is needed for rectifying and a capacitor to smooth out the ripple, and only after them a plus is supplied to the winding so that the relay closes normally.
What is impulse current read here: Pulsating electric current
How the relay cracks, see here: Relay cracking from impulse current
Read about the rectifier here: Low-power power supply, www.cqham.ru/pow2_15.htm
The diode in this case does not work as a rectifier (since there is no negative half-wave here), but as a blocker that prevents the capacitor from quickly discharging into the ZX lamps, maintaining a constant voltage on the relay winding and does not allow it to click.
Eliminate blank screen and RCD radio error when exiting camera mode. Delaying camera shutdown.
When the camera is powered from the reversing lights, as well as turning on the camera mode on the display, when the reverse gear is turned off, it often turns off before the display has time to process the status change and exit the camera mode (delay is about 1-2 seconds) and noise is displayed on some radio tape recorders disconnection and a blank screen of an already disconnected camera. Also, when maneuvering on a narrow stretch of road back and forth, when changing gears, the monitor often turns on / off, which is inconvenient.
Therefore, a simple delay is set to turn off the power of the camera.
The best and simplest solution without using a diode and a capacitor right out of the box is the VAZ-2111 relay for the rear window washer AVAR 454.3747 (or 526.3747-03) with a 5 second delay.
This washer time relay turns on the washer pump for 5 seconds.
The delay can be either reduced or increased by replacing the 22 uF capacitor in this relay.
The second solution is a low-power high-resistance relay and a capacitor with a diode. We supply plus from the ZX lamp through the diode, and then the capacitor and to the relay winding.
The capacitor smooths out the pulsations of the lamp control, allowing the relay coil to close the relay. A diode is required to get rid of the lights, otherwise the capacitor will quickly discharge through the reversing lamps. The relay is precisely low-power with a winding with high resistance =
1 kOhm so that the capacitor does not discharge quickly and there is a delay for a couple of seconds.
A conventional relay will not work here, since it has a winding resistance =
85 Ohm, which is very small and there will be no delay! Installing a 1 kΩ resistor in series will not allow the relay to close at all!
It is possible to calculate the delay time of the relay off in this circuit with a diode and a capacitor.
The discharge time of the capacitor is equal to the product of the capacitance and the resistance, a direct relationship. It is only necessary to take into account that the relay will turn off a little earlier than the conder is completely discharged.
We bring all values to one dimension (farads, ohms, seconds) and count:
Delay time for RC-circuit: T = C R.
where T is the time in seconds, C is the capacitance of the capacitor in farads, R is the resistance of the circuit in ohms
T = 2200 μF 960 Ohm = 0.0022 960 = 2 sec. (quite enough)
For example, you need a delay of at least 8 seconds. for a relay with a 960 Ohm winding:
Capacitor for 8 sec delay: C = T / R 1,000,000 = capacitance in μF
C = 8/960 1,000,000 = 10,000 μF (rounded towards the standard capacitance).
Organization 8 sec. camera power off delays for standard GU RCD 330
Attention! If you have a standard head unit (HU) of the RCD 330 series, then it is imperative that the camera, after turning off the reverse speed, work for at least another 8 seconds. Otherwise, when disconnected, there will be an inscription “Camera is unavailable”.
If you use a circuit on a high-resistance relay, then you need to increase the capacitor rating to 10000 μF.
It is best to use the Relay VAZ-2111 of the rear window washer AVAR 4543747P, increasing the 22 μF capacitor in it to 47 μF 25V and the 470 Ohm resistor to 3.3 kΩ, having obtained the required shutdown delay of 8 seconds. instead of 5 sec. default.
You also need to activate the display activation by CAN bus in the on-board electronics unit (BCM) using a lanyard and the VCDS program (Vasya diagnostician): check the box along the way: 56 block, 3 bytes 6 bits
You can use the REGTAYM3-12- (0-60) relay, to which you can also supply a plus from the ZX lamp through a diode and a capacitor, but only a capacitor no more than 10-50 μF, otherwise there will be too long a shutdown delay!
You can also use a ready-made power filter to connect a rear view camera with image delay on extravag.ru or Aliexpress.
It also happens that in this radio tape recorder the Chinese confuse the pins on the adapter chip from the radio to the cable from the camera: the signal is braided, and the ground on the central core and the image is black and white and crooked! You need to swap them. The display itself is then activated by the CAN bus: a signal from the on-board electronics module (BCM) is sent to activate the display. To forcibly turn on the display, you need to install an additional module “video interface” for 10 thousand rubles.
You can put a special relay with an off delay REGTIME3-12- (0-60) (for on / off and off / on delay of devices for 0-60s).
Attention! The markings on this relay are such that a “view from the contact side” is drawn on top of the relay, and not when looking through the relay.
Connection diagram for pure power supply of the camera through a conventional relay
Attention! We solder the capacitor, observing the polarity, directly to the terminals of the relay winding, and then solder the plus through the diode and minus from the cigarette lighter to them. But it is better to use a high impedance relay!
The light in the diagram is a ZX lamp. Plus from the ZX lamp we feed through the diode to its anode, and from the output. the cathode (where the white strip is) to the 85th contact so that the capacitor does not discharge to the ZX lamp. Therefore, the capacitor is already after the diode.
If voltage is applied to the winding, then pin 30 is connected to pin 87 and a plus goes to it. At 85, the winding contact is supplied with a plus from the reversing lights, rectified by a diode and smoothed by a capacitor! Terminal 86 of the relay coil is connected to negative (ground).
Connection diagram for pure power supply of the camera through a high-impedance relay with a delay
The relay is low-power normally open. In the relay diagram, pins 9 and 13 are a plus for the camera power from the cigarette lighter or rear wiper motor, minus for the camera. from the body (ground). Control to the relay coil. from the ZX lanterns after straightening and smoothing the pulsations. The rating of the capacitor is 25 volts 2200 microfarads, any diode, the resistance of the relay winding must be at least 1 kOhm, these are 1 and 16 contacts. In this case, the relay is disconnected after 2 seconds. On a powerful relay with a low resistance winding, there will be no delay!
Camera block power circuit
When using multiple cameras, it makes sense to use a camera unit that is also powered by the reversing lights. Since there is also a relay in it, it is similarly necessary to straighten and smooth out the ripple with a diode and a capacitor, otherwise the relay clicks quickly, and the camera does not turn on.
It is better to connect from the cigarette lighter through a relay after the rectifier to supply clean power to the unit, otherwise the ripple will go to the power of the cameras and will be noticeable in the image.
Scheme of forced switching on of the camera with a standard button without fixing
Additionally, you can make a separate standard camera power button to see what is happening from behind, without turning on the reverse gear. In this case, you do not need to straighten and smooth the current, since the plus for the camera is taken clean from the cigarette lighter.
The implementation scheme of the fixed button from the standard one using the 23.3777 relay is shown below.
The following additional details will be required:
Schottky diode 1N5818 for backlighting the active mode of the OEM button
Relay 23.3777 fog lights VAZ-2110
Rear fog lamp relay socket (6 contacts) AED
or Terminal (female) 2.8 mm with tinned wire. 5 pcs.
Coaxial cable
Bottom line: the camera works fine and there is no interference (from the word at all)!
If there is still interference, then you can use a car power filter on a choke and two capacitors. electrolytic from 470 μF (to damp ripples below 10 kHz) and ceramic from 0.1 μF (to damp ripples above 10 kHz).
The standard x pixel resolution suits most ordinary drivers, increasing the image quality for the rear packing camera does not make sense.
There is only one working option of connecting the camera power supply out of four. It can be either a separate mirror or an overhead panel that will be mounted on top of a standard reflector.
Rear view camera connection This is an important aspect. KZV can be installed in the trunk lid, license plate frame or in the rear bumper. Therefore, when connecting the video interface, you need to go to the Factory menu engineering menu and configure the way to activate the CAN bus or Rear wire. To connect a wired video camera, you will need to purchase a TV tuner that looks like a USB flash drive with a video input plug. Often the rear view camera is connected to the radio tape recorder. you should be extremely careful, as incorrect connection will cause damage. Most experts consider the most convenient way to power the video camera by connecting the power cable to the left rear lamp.
Rear view camera connection on Opel Astra J
The disadvantage of this method is the interference, which often prevents the normal transmission of the image. But the interior lighting also has lamp monitoring! It can even be a regular Android tablet.
The standard x-pixel resolution suits most ordinary drivers, increasing the image quality for the rear packing video camera does not make sense. We connect the black one to the mass of the battery, and the red wire is connected directly to the camera. You just need to connect the coaxial video cable. Firstly, it saves money, since there is no need to additionally buy a monitor.
As a spray, you can take a compact nozzle from any suitable car. However, technical progress continues to delight with more and more new achievements. The free connector of the video cable is connected to a special output of the head unit for searching, refer to the instructions of the radio.
How to connect a rear view camera and other additional equipment in a car
How to choose a camera
The modern electronics market, and especially China, is overflowing with a variety of cameras, and this makes the choice of the right thing more complicated. In order to make your job easier, decide on your priorities, which worries you more. price or quality. Not everyone needs high definition cameras, or cameras that can show even in low light. For some drivers, an inexpensive rear-view camera for a radio tape recorder is enough.
- In what resolution the camera writes, the higher the video resolution, the better the recording quality. And high definition of the image is not always needed.
- The next point is the sensitivity of the camera to lighting. In cheaper models, recording quality in low light can be very poor. Therefore, if, due to circumstances, you often use the car at night, then you should pay attention to this moment.
- If you have already decided where to put the rear view camera before buying, then you need to pay attention to the installation method of this particular model.
How to install a rear view camera.
This article will explain in detail how to install a rear view camera on a car. I think many of you have wondered more than once what the price of the issue is.
- Advantages and disadvantages
- Principle of operation
- Degree of protection
- Installing a rear view camera. Example.
Principle of operation
Usually the camera is installed in the center of the license plate mounting frame. Most models have LED backlighting. Often, the camera’s power cable is connected to the vehicle’s electrical system in parallel with the reversing light. Thus, when you turn on the reverse gear, the power goes to the reversing lamp and automatically to the video camera. After that, the video signal from the camera is transmitted to the monitor installed in the car interior. Accordingly, once the reverse gear is turned off, no power is supplied to the camera. as well as the signal to the monitor. Today, there are monitors built into the rearview mirror on sale. But this option is not very practical. Drivers of the “Old Believers” do not recognize him.
Advantages and disadvantages
The undoubted advantage of universal rear-view cameras is the degree of their unification. They are sold without being tied to any equipment, you can attach them to any place convenient for you on the car (or tractor), connect to almost any monitors. The disadvantage of these cameras lies in the way they are mounted. They are very easy to steal. Cheap cameras have poor weather protection.
Degree of protection
For good, all products must comply with the IP 65 standard, if this is the case, the camera will serve you for a long time. In practice, cheap Chinese cameras can easily withstand the “Central European” climate. but for the countries of Scandinavia or the Siberian region. for example, you will have to buy a more expensive option. In general, thieves remain the main enemy of the camera.
Rear view camera connection
We took the Kia RIO hatchback as our guinea pig. Prepare mentally for a partial disassembly of the trunk lining and the interior of your car.
To begin with, the trim and floor cover are removed in the luggage compartment:
Attention! crucial moment. In the image above, the footnote “remember this element”. These are the wires leading to the lock. The wires from the camera will run in the same place. It looks like this:
Now you need to dismantle the license plate, there will be mounting holes under it
You probably guessed about the further development of events. Now we need to pass the camera wires through the mounting holes in the bumper and further into the trunk through the plug.
The photo above shows how everything should turn out in the end. It goes without saying that after all the actions, the wiring harness should be crimped again to protect it from moisture and dust.
Go ahead. Remove the side panel (in the specific case, the left one, and there as anyone likes)
For further actions, it is advisable to look into the wiring diagram of your particular car. Well, in general terms, the task is as follows: connect the red power cable of the camera (plus) with the “plus” of the reversing light. To do this, you need to disconnect the block and insert the red wire into the corresponding pin (most often with a white-orange wire). After that, we return everything to its place (we snap the block).
As a result, when you turn on the reverse gear, our camera is activated, and the signal is transmitted to the monitor. Now we need to lay the video cable through the holes already made by the manufacturer in the body by removing the sealing rubber that is located between the ceiling and the skin. The general principle can be seen in the picture.
In a particular case, the monitor and the rearview mirror are a single unit. If the monitor is installed on a dashboard, the cable must be laid in the front pillar and the space between the dashboard and the windshield. After all the tricks, check the system for operability and bring all parts of the cabin to their original form.
ABOUT CAMERA
In theory, further it should be told about the disassembly of the rear view camera. But, for some reason, I suspect that there would hardly have been anyone willing to disassemble it. But I decided to work it out point 18 by full rules and find out what the developers actually put into a miniature case and. broke the camera. By the way, I don’t regret it. But we will see with you all her insides. That’s why I managed to take only one picture of the camera when she was still alive.
Rear view camera and the sad experience of disassembling it
Hello everyone, dear friends. Today we have a rear view camera on review. This review will be of interest to both motorists and ordinary users. Only one amendment. I ask the faint of heart not to look. Looking ahead, I will say that the camera worked properly until I decided to see what was inside it. But first things first. If you are ready and fastened your seat belts, welcome under the cut
A CCD is a charge-coupled device. A CCD is a charge-coupled device. This type of matrix was initially considered to be of higher quality, but also more expensive and energy-intensive. If you present the basic principle of the CCD matrix in a nutshell, then they will collect the whole picture in an analog version, and only then digitize.
Unlike CCD matrices, CMOS matrices (complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor), CMOS. complementary logic on metal-oxide-semiconductor transistors, digitize each pixel in place. CMOS matrices were initially less power-consuming and cheap, especially in the production of large matrices, but they were inferior to CCD matrices in image quality Difference of CCD matrices from CMOS
- CCD is a silicon-based array that acts as a charge-coupled device, CMOS is a field-effect transistor array.
- The analog signal in the CCD matrix is converted outside the photosensitive sensor, in the CMOS matrix directly in the pixel.
- The image quality from CCD is higher than from CMOS.
- CCD is more energy consuming.
- CMOS allows you to shoot video and take burst photos.
- CMOS has spread in mobile electronics
The color waterproof digital rear-view camera differs from many of its “congeners” primarily by the price. Designed for use in any type of vehicle. Has a fairly wide viewing angle of 170 degrees allows for quick and safe parking. The camera is waterproof, which prevents water ingress and damage to the electronics.
DISASSEMBLY
In principle, for this we have gathered here today. We start disassembling the rear view camera.
ATTENTION. I strongly advise against repeating these steps at home. Such cameras, especially those with moisture protection, are assembled thoroughly and once. Have pity on your tool and teeth.Clockwise, unscrew the front cover of the rear view camera and remove the bracket
In this photo, you can clearly see something like a black silicone sealant, which thoroughly penetrated the threads and firmly glued the lens to the body. No way to stop here. Well, no, we continue on. We scrape out the sealant and try to unscrew the lens with our teeth. I don’t know how I tried, but I did it. The lens itself. By the way, the material of manufacture is glass.
We take the main part from the camera and see the camera matrix CMOS-type matrix You won’t see anything else here. We will dig a tunnel on the other side to see the insides of the chamber. We remove the back cover and see that everything is filled with sealant. precisely, the feeling that it is a compound. Scraping out all this “hat”. The board is already visible. a little more effort and we take out the board from the camera body Here we see the matrix closer on one side and the board with the sealant on the other
We clean further to see the control microcircuits:
Here is the first. atmel218 24c08N nonvolatile memory. The datasheet can be viewed here And here we see a quartz generator, which indicates 27 000 MHz By the way, I did not find any traces of flux on the board. The soldering is neat. Once you see the insides of this camera, you can quickly assemble it. Only after that it didn’t work. It can be seen very violently tore the sealant from the board)))
In general, I was very pleased with the impressions of what was done and the quality of both the camera and the image from it. The performance is good, the picture is acceptable for cameras from this price segment. Honor is worth the fact that it was displayed not on a 5-inch or 7-inch screen, but on a huge TV. Objects can also be seen at night. Unfortunately I didn’t know that I had to take a photo of the night image. I am very sorry about that. It is also worth noting that there are a lot of cameras of this type on the market. The price ranges from 7 to 28. But what is inside remains a mystery. But I would not dare to disassemble this kind of gadgets in the future)))
pros
- Price for cameras of this type
- Quality execution
- Moisture protection
- Nice output image
Minuses
- Breaks down after disassembly)))
For today I have everything.
And as usual, Nafanya says hello to everyone and expects positive votes from you.
Rear view camera, redo the view.
The rear view camera usually mirrors the image. And there are most of these cameras. If you want to buy a camera for controlling the front hemisphere, then your choice is significantly narrowed. Under the cut, we will try to fix this annoying circumstance.
The camera comes in a cardboard box, the equipment is the most complete:
– camera
– manual
– fastening nut
– shielded video signal wire
– power wire with voltage converter
– two pieces of double-sided tape
– crown for drilling a hole
Studying the description does not add much information. the description is one for a large family of cameras and the technical characteristics of your particular camera should be marked when completing the box. But they are not marked.
Effective Pixel: 420 TV lines
Lens Angle: 170 Degrees Wide Angle
TV System: PAL / NTSC
Power Supply: DC 12V
Support NTSC video system
Wrench nut 22. It is slightly larger than this size, so you may need to take an adjustable wrench.
The length of the thread is such that you can put on a nut and make at least one and a half turns if the thickness of the wall in which the hole is drilled is no more than 8 mm.
The rear panel of the camera is attached with four self-tapping screws. Unscrewing:
Inside the case is filled with a compound. It feels like loose rubber. Digging.
I managed to get to the board. It took about 15 minutes, the tool was a scalpel, a sharp screwdriver and a cotton swab with alcohol. Lucky. This camera allows you to control the image.
Contact pads are left on the board and the value of the pins is even signed. You can flip the image, you can turn on / off mirroring, you can turn on and off lines. There are also unsoldered smd components on the board that can switch pal-ntsc mode. In practice, the number of lines in the frame changes and the colors become slightly brighter or dimmer. In the same place, on the board, there is a place for connecting a 5v wire and a free area, apparently for installing a tiny converter 5.3 V.
Yes, the camera is powered by 3.3 volts. To prepare it, a 12-3.3 stepdown converter is installed on the power cord. The current in the 12V circuit is sometimes up to 120 mA, but mostly about 80. The converter heats up a little, the hand of course suffers even with long work, but still it is warm. I decided not to leave the camera on for a long time.
For experiments, I had to connect the camera to the TV-tuner built into the computer, it has a low-frequency tulip input. Immediately began to show a picture, though slightly noisy. Either power supply noise or interference inside the system unit makes itself felt. I soldered the wires to the contact pads so that I can change the camera settings without opening the case. I did not forget to bring out the ground and power wires, you need to close the control wires on them.
Then he took a neutral silicone sealant and carefully smeared the board.
When shorted by a 3.3V flip wire, the camera flips the image. The other two wires are triggered by a ground fault. This is how it looks:
A ruler at a distance of 12.5 cm from the camera in the area of its center is visible at a length of 25 cm.
You don’t need to be Euclid to guess the 90 degree horizontal viewing angle. When the aspect ratio of the frame is 4: 3 vertically, we get 67 degrees.
This is noticeably different from the stated 170. Perhaps 170 is diagonally? No, I got 107 degrees diagonally.
The camera itself is tilted from the installation plane by 50 degrees.
Thus, the field of view is a little short of the plane of the part on which the camera will be installed.
We start the installation. I will put it on the front of the car, instead of an unnecessary logo. I already have a rear camera and a monitor, so the work will not be difficult. Estimating the installation location:
We insert the camera and screw it with a nut. We insulate the wires with heat shrinkage.
Done. Then it will be necessary to plug the holes of the logo.
From the bottom edge of the frame to the license plate about 8-10 cm, so as soon as someone else’s bumper reaches the bottom, hit the brake.
The camera works, the price is low, the picture is good, there is no noise when installed on the car. Current consumption is about 80mA. The tightness was complete (I hope it will remain so after my intervention). It is relatively easy to adapt this camera to your needs, if you have specific ones. The manufacturer has incorporated the ability to configure The disadvantages include a smaller viewing angle than stated and a small (really small) heating of the power supply.
The camera will help you in a tight parking lot, it will allow you to see a scooter thrown in front of the bumper, or an installed concrete hemisphere. In winter, it is easy to clear it of ice and slowly steer around the yard, looking at it, while the main glass thaws.
Connecting a reversing camera to a tablet
Many drivers use smartphones and tablets as navigators. In this regard, the question arises: is it possible to display the image from the rear view camera on the “Android” on the tablet??
Using the tablet as a monitor for the camera. quite a specific task. After all, the tablet does not have a standard video in connector.
Several years ago, devices appeared that allow you to capture and convert an analog video signal. This device is called EasyCAP. It is the size of a flash drive and connects to the USB port of a tablet or smartphone.
CNET On Cars. What’s behind rear-view cameras
It should be noted that EasyCAP works with tablets with Snapdragon, Tegra, Allwinner / BoxChip processors. And does not work on devices with MTK processors.
EasyCAP software is constantly updated. For its work, the device requires Android 6.1 or higher.
Which matrix to choose
Rear-view cameras have two types of matrices: CCD or CMOS. Each of them has both advantages and disadvantages. For example, CCD is better perceived in the dark, while CMOS has better performance and lower cost. Almost all modern cameras have a CMOS sensor.
What materials and tools will be needed for installation
To figure out what tools you need, you need to determine the amount of work. If a wireless camera is installed that connects to the salon mirror, then the tools are only needed to install the camera in the bumper or in the license plate. This option is good for its simplicity and speed of installation, but it has one significant drawback. interference arising from extraneous sources of electromagnetic radiation.
If the rear view camera is connected to a Chinese radio, then you need to find out what video standard it can work with. It may happen that it works with PAL, while the camera is transmitting an NTSC image. In this case, you will either have to change the radio tape recorder, or additionally connect a monitor.
For a wired connection, you will need to partially disassemble the interior and trunk. Therefore, you will need several types of screwdrivers, special blades. clip removers. Wires, terminals, connectors must go together with the camera. Also, the kit should contain instructions and a diagram for connecting the rear view camera to the image output device diagram. In addition, you will need: electrical tape, pliers, wire cutters, heat shrink tubing, soldering iron and solder.
What are the image output devices
Some devices used in the car are already capable of displaying an image. It can be a 2 DIN radio tape recorder with a rear view camera or a video recorder. The requirements for these devices are simple: they must have a video input capable of receiving video signals of the NTSC or PAL standards.
There are also interior mirrors with a built-in monitor, on which you can display the image from a video camera.
The downside is the small picture. The image transmission from the rear view camera to the recorder also has this disadvantage.
How to choose a camera
The first thing to understand when choosing a car camera. the fact that ordinary devices are not suitable here. The point is in the specific operating conditions:
- The camera should show the image at minimum illumination.
- Resistant to high humidity and low temperatures.
- Since the image is formed behind the driver’s back, it must be mirrored during broadcast.
- The rear view camera must have a tool that allows you to determine the distance to objects. The role of such a tool is a frame or guide lines that indicate the dimensions of the machine.
- The camera is mounted on the bumper or mounted in the license plate. Therefore, it must be properly secured.
The device must comply with the standard wiring diagrams for rear view cameras. The schemes may differ depending on which device the image is displayed on: monitor, 2 din radio tape recorder, video recorder.
It’s nice if the camera has infrared illumination. This option will help improve image quality in low visibility conditions.
Classic camera connection
Connecting Chinese radio tape recorders to a rear view camera is done in a simple way that does not require specific knowledge. Power for the camera comes from the positive lead of the reversing light. The minus can be taken from any convenient place. Therefore, when the reverse gear is engaged and the reversing light comes on, the camera automatically starts working. And it also turns off when the reverse gear is turned off.
There is one nuance in this connection. Some radios and monitors with a diagonal of 7 inches and above have a different connection diagram for the rear view camera. The circuit, in addition to standard connectors, includes an additional excitation wire. If the camera cord does not have it, and the characteristics of the radio or monitor require, then the excitation cord is made by connecting the wire with one side to the plus of the reversing lamp, and the other side to the reverse wire on the radio.
The excitation wire performs the function of turning on. Even if the monitor or 2 din car radio with a rear view camera is permanently connected to the positive wire, they remain inactive until a signal is applied via the excitation cord.
Installation of two cameras
Some car enthusiasts do not understand how much space their car takes up in space. They find it difficult not only to park in reverse, but also in front. For these drivers, the output may be to connect 2 rear view cameras. Only one of these will be fitted in the front bumper. In this case, the connection diagram of the rear view camera will change.
The circuit will additionally have a five-pin relay that will switch the signal from one camera to another.
When the car is moving forward, the relay will supply the video signal from the front camera to the monitor. When reversing, power is supplied from the reversing warning lamp to the relay and it switches. Then the video signal starts coming from the rear camera.
In addition, there are monitors with two video inputs. Such devices are designed to connect two video cameras and are able to switch between them. Here is the main thing. do not confuse the inputs. The front camera is connected to the white one, constantly broadcasting the image. The rear camera is connected to the yellow one, which is triggered when the reverse gear is turned on. At this moment, the monitor switches the image from the front to the rear camera.
If there is only one video camera available, then it makes no difference which connector it is connected to.
Another important point: when connecting the front camera, the mirror reflection function must be turned off.
Rear view camera connection diagram: diagrams, work procedure, recommendations
The number of cars on the road is growing exponentially. Parking spaces are getting smaller. At the same time, manufacturers are increasing the size of passenger cars, thereby reducing their ability to maneuver in the parking lot. This leads to emergency situations when reversing. Installing a rear view camera on a car will help to solve this problem.
