iPhone XS vs iPhone XR: Feature Comparison

Which iPhone should you choose? Let’s try to get closer to the answer by comparing the iPhone XS and iPhone XR. Let’s compare their key characteristics and find out. in whose favor will the advantage?

If the iPhone XS Max is just a larger version of the iPhone XS. then the iPhone XR is significantly different in its functional characteristics and operational capabilities. Let’s compare the design features, properties of the display, cameras and processor, in order to trace in comparison, what is the fundamental difference between the two popular models of Apple smartphones. As a conclusion, we will also try to determine who is still better. iPhone XS or iPhone XR?

Design

In terms of design and physical characteristics of the case, the iPhone XR is undoubtedly at a high level, but still inferior to the iPhone XS. First, it features a 7000 series aluminum alloy bezel, while the XS’s bezel is made from a more durable stainless steel alloy. XR corresponds to the index of the degree of protection IP67, and XS. IP68. This, in turn, means that the first smartphone is able to withstand a half-hour dive to a depth of 1 meter, and the second. the same dive, but already to a depth of two meters. The iPhone XR is larger and heavier, and the display bezel is wider. As a significant advantage in favor of XR, it is worth noting the wider choice of colors: Blue, White, Black, Yellow, Coral and RED (Product).

  • iPhone XR: 150.9 x 75.7 x 8.3mm, 194g, IP67 protection.
  • iPhone XS: 143.6 x 70.9 x 7.7 mm, 177 grams, IP68 protection.

CPU

Both smartphones are equipped with a powerful A12 Bionic processor, respectively, their operational capabilities are generally equivalent. The six-core processor, combined with the unique Neural Engine system, provides an incredible user experience, and the execution of even the most demanding tasks is 15% faster than the A11 Bionic.

  • iPhone XR: Powerful Hexa-Core A12 Bionic Processor, 7nm Chip, Neural Engine.
  • iPhone XS: Powerful Hexa-Core A12 Bionic Processor, 7nm Chip, Neural Engine.

Autonomous work

That’s where the iPhone XR has a clear advantage. battery life on a full charge. If the iPhone XS is capable of providing 20 hours of talk time, 12 hours of internet use and 14 hours of video playback, then with the XR you will have as many as 25 hours of talk time, 15 hours of the Internet and 16 hours of video playback.

iPhone XS Vs iPhone X In 2021! (Comparison) (Review)

iPhone X is not available with 512 GB of storage, so it is impossible to compare its price with the most expensive versions of the iPhone XS and XS Max.

The iPhone XS outperforms the iPhone X in at least four ways. The new smartphone has a more efficient processor, video chip and coprocessor for neural computing, more RAM, a camera with better processing of photos and videos, as well as more reliable protection against water penetration. On the iPhone XS Max, you can also add a larger diagonal screen to this, although some may consider the increased dimensions and weight not advantages, but disadvantages.

The pluses of the new smartphones also include the possibility of choosing a model with 512 GB storage. True, for additional gigabytes you will have to pay unreasonably much (especially in comparison with the cost of memory cards, which are supported by some smartphones on Android).

The difference is in the hardware

As for the hardware stuffing of these phones, there are some differences, and quite significant ones. The new iPhone XS received a new generation A12 Bionic processor. Like the previous A11 Bionic, the new A12 Bionic is a 64-bit 6-core ARM chip. But, at the same time, the A12 Bionic is made according to a more modern technological process of 7 nanometers (the A11 Bionic has 10 nm).

Reducing the process technology allowed for increased productivity and reduced energy consumption. Apple claims the new processor is 15% faster and 50% more efficient than its predecessor. In addition, A12 Bionic is better optimized for working with artificial intelligence, neural networks and has more productive graphics (50% faster).

The coprocessor has also improved, if in the previous generation it was 2-core, now it is equipped with 8-cores at once. This significantly affected its performance. While the A11 Bionic coprocessor could handle up to 600 billion operations per second, its A12 Bionic receiver can handle 5 trillion operations per second. There is also a difference in the amount of RAM, in the iPhone XS its 4 GB, versus 3 GB in the iPhone X.

The built-in memory has also changed. If the iPhone X was only available in two variants, with 64 and 256 gigabytes of internal memory, then the iPhone XS is available with 64, 256 and 512 gigabytes of internal memory.

iPhone Xs vs X. Worth Upgrading?

As you can see, the difference in performance between the iPhone X and the iPhone XS is rather big. In different tasks, the gain can be from 15 to 50% and even more. Changes to the available onboard memory are also significant. If 256 gigabytes was not enough for you, then the transition to a more modern model is quite justified.

Difference between cameras

In terms of main features, there is no difference between the cameras of the iPhone X and iPhone XS. Both of these smartphones are equipped with dual 12 megapixel cameras on the back of the device. One of these cameras is equipped with a wide-angle lens with an aperture of f / 1.8, and the other with a telephoto lens with an aperture of f / 2.4.

But, if we compare these cameras in more detail, then there are some differences. First, the wide-angle camera of the iPhone XS has a larger sensor, which also increases the size of each individual pixel. Thus, the pixel size on the matrix of the new model is 1.4 µm (versus 1.0 µm in the iPhone X). This size difference allows the pixel to capture more light, resulting in less digital noise and a greater dynamic range in the camera.

In addition, the iPhone XS camera has some software differences. Firstly, the new model implements Smart HDR technology, which allows you to display finer details in the light and dark areas of the photo. Secondly, the new camera has significantly improved portrait mode. The camera captures the depth of field better, and the bokeh effect can be created after taking the picture itself.

As for the changes in video recording, there are also minor improvements. In particular, the iPhone XS can record stereo sound, which is not available in the iPhone X.

There is also no difference between the main specs of the front cameras of the iPhone X and the iPhone XS. Both use a 7MP TrueDepth camera with ƒ / 2.2 aperture and Retina Flash. When it comes to additional features, the iPhone XS has a few differences. The front camera of the novelty has received Smart HDR, improved bokeh effect, “Depth” function, extended dynamic range for video at 30 frames / s, as well as the ability to record FullHD video at 60 frames / s.

Differences in the screen

As with the design, there are almost no differences here. The iPhone XS, like the iPhone X, features a 5.8-inch, 2436 × 1125 OLED Super Retina HD display. The pixel density was 458 pixels per inch, the contrast ratio was 1,000,000: 1, and the brightness was 625 candelas per square meter. Both models also support Dolby Vision, HDR 10, True Tone, 3D Touch and Wide Color Gamut (P3).

The only difference is dynamic range. Apple insists that the dynamic range of the iPhone XS screen is 60% wider than its predecessor. But, it is not a fact that it will be possible to notice in a real comparison, since both screens are very similar.

Comparison of iPhone X and iPhone XS: the main differences

In September 2018, Apple held its traditional presentation and introduced new iPhone models. As expected, three new phones were presented at once, the main of which was the iPhone XS, which replaced last year’s iPhone X. In this article, we will make a comparison between the iPhone X and the iPhone XS and tell you how these two models differ. We hope this information will help you determine the difference between these devices and decide on the choice of a new smartphone.

Differences in design

The design of the iPhone X and iPhone XS does not differ in any way, in appearance they are one and the same device. The iPhone XS received the same dimensions and design as its predecessor, the iPhone X. The weight of the device has slightly increased, but even this is almost impossible to replace, since we are talking about a few grams.

The so-called “monobrow” remained. There are also other distinctive features of this phone. In particular, the placement and shape of the rear camera, button placement, etc. The materials used, according to Apple, have changed. IPhone XS glass panels should be much stronger than iPhone X.

The only difference in design is the appearance of a new color. While the iPhone X was only available in silver and charcoal, the iPhone X is available in silver, charcoal, and gold.

Comparison of cellular capabilities

When comparing cellular capabilities, there are a few notable differences in the new iPhone XS. So, the new product supports Gigabit Class LTE, as well as MIMO 4 × 4 and LAA4 technologies.

Gigabit Class LTE is the next step towards 5G networks. Already now, on devices with a Snapdragon 845 chip, Gigabit LTE connectivity can provide data transfer speeds of up to 1.2 Gbps, and with the next generation of mobile devices, this speed may increase to 2 Gbps. But, for now, these are more laboratory tests. In practice, with a suitable smartphone and mobile network with Gigabit LTE support, you can expect about 400 Mbps.

The proliferation of networks with support for Gigabit LTE is very limited so far. On the territory of the Russian Federation, there are no such networks at all. They can be found in Germany, Great Britain and the USA.

Another major difference between the iPhone X and the iPhone XS is dual SIM support. The version for the Chinese market will get full work with two physical NanoSIMs. The rest will be able to use one physical NanoSIM card, and another electronic eSIM. Thus, in those countries where there is eSIM support, iPhone XS users will be able to use two SIM cards at once.

Display

Based solely on the properties of the display, there really is no difference between the two models. Both the iPhone XS and iPhone X are at the same high level of quality in terms of image display and video playback capabilities. The displays of both iPhones are comparable. their diagonal is 5.8 inches, they support HDR, Dolby Vision and True Tone. Bula sets new benchmark for iPhone X with OLED displays.

  • iPhone X: 5.8-inch OLED display, 2436 x 1125-pixel resolution (458 ppi), 82.9% bezel display, HDR10 support, Dolby Vision, True Tone
  • iPhone XS: 5.8-inch OLED display, 2436 x 1125-pixel resolution (458 ppi), 82.9% bezel display, HDR10 support, Dolby Vision, True Tone

Cameras

Visually, the differences between the cameras of the iPhone X and XS are not visible, but at the same time, in terms of the provided shooting capabilities, the differences are quite significant. The iPhone XS uses more responsive sensors to display every single pixel more clearly. This in turn allows you to take high quality photos even in low light. XS Smart HDR technology enhances image detail and dramatically expands dynamic range.

  • iPhone X: 12MP dual camera, aperture. f / 1.8 and f / 2.4, Auto HDR, Focus Pixels, portrait mode, 7MP TrueDepth front camera
  • iPhone XS: 12MP dual camera, aperture. f / 1.8 and f / 2.4, Smart HDR, Focus Pixels, Portrait mode, Depth Control, 7MP TrueDepth front camera

Battery and charging

Both smartphones are able to replenish the charge level by 50% in just half an hour. As for battery life, there are some differences. If the talk time of the iPhone X is capable of providing 21 hours of battery life, then the iPhone XS. 20 hours. In video mode, the iPhone XS can function for 14 hours, while the X. 13.

  • iPhone X: Supports 7.5W wireless charging
  • iPhone XS: Supports 7.5W wireless charging, 30 minutes longer battery life

Design

And again, the differences between the iPhone X and XS are not particularly reflected in the design, the body of both smartphones is made of the same type. Still, some changes have been made to the iPhone XS. If the iPhone X was only available in two colors: Silver and Space Gray, then another color option was added to the XS. Gold. The most significant difference between the two models lies in the protective qualities. iPhone X is able to withstand submersion under water for half an hour, at a depth of 1 meter. But the iPhone XS, at the same time, can withstand immersion by 2 meters.

  • iPhone X: 143.6 x 70.9 x 7.7mm, 174g, IP67
  • iPhone XS: 143.6 x 70.9 x 7.7 mm, 177 grams, IP68 rated

Comparison of iPhone XS and iPhone X: what’s the difference?

The differences between the iPhone X and the iPhone XS lie in their functionality and performance. To more clearly outline the differences, we will compare their key characteristics and determine what are the advantages of one smartphone in relation to another.

At a superficial glance, it might seem that there is little or no difference between the iPhone X and the iPhone XS. Nevertheless, according to the already established tradition with the addition of “S” to the name. Apple is adding a range of functional extensions to its smartphones. To clearly delineate the differences between the iPhone XS and iPhone X, let’s try to analyze in detail and compare their technical characteristics in terms of operational capabilities, camera properties, display, design and much more.

CPU

The main guarantee of the implemented operational expansions in the iPhone XS is the replacement of the processor from the A11 Bionic with the updated A12 Bionic. The six-core A12 Bionic processor delivers 15% faster execution of functional algorithms and 50% less power consumption. In addition, the A12 Bionic features an eight-core Neural Engine capable of 5 trillion operations in just a second.

  • iPhone X: A11 Bionic hexa-core processor, 10nm chip, Neural engine
  • iPhone XS: A12 Bionic 6-core processor, 7nm chip, Neural engine with 8-core architecture, 15% faster, 50% less power consumption

Other differences

iPhone X is available in two storage capacities: 64GB and 256GB. Another option has been added to the iPhone XS. 512 GB. Both smartphones support Face ID, but thanks to the improved Neural Engine, the iPhone XS recognizes and identifies faces faster. In terms of network connectivity, the XS supports Gigabit LTE connectivity. In addition, in the iPhone XS, it became possible to use two SIM cards at the same time, and, accordingly, a dual network connection.

As a conclusion, it is worth noting that, indeed, when comparing the general surface characteristics, the difference between the iPhone X and the iPhone XS is not so significant. But with a closer look and a detailed analysis of operational capabilities, a number of differences are clearly visible. iPhone XS is capable of more photography and has a more powerful and efficient processor. In terms of design, despite the fact that both smartphones are visually similar, the iPhone XS is endowed with the best protective qualities.

Display

And if it’s short? The iPhone XS screen displays richer and brighter colors. Also supports 120Hz content. Otherwise, the displays are identical.

The main display characteristics of the iPhone XS are unchanged from the iPhone X. Both smartphones feature a 5.8-inch Super Retina HD OLED display with a resolution of 2436-by-1125 pixels (458 ppi), 625 cd / m² brightness and 1,000,000 contrast ratio. :1. Additional technologies are also unchanged: support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision formats, True Tone technology for automatic screen temperature adjustment, 3D Touch and P3 color gamut. Everything is identical.

And here is the “difference” between the displays of the iPhone XS and iPhone X

However, there are still three differences. First, Apple discreetly trimmed the bezels around the iPhone XS display. The new smartphone has a screen-to-face ratio of 82.9%. And for the iPhone X, this figure is 81.4%. Dimensions, as we have already found out, have not changed, so somewhere the frames were really reduced. Which, however, will be difficult to notice, too little difference.

Second, Apple claims a 60% increase in dynamic range of the iPhone XS display compared to the iPhone X. This means that on the iPhone XS screen, colors will look better: richer and brighter. And third, the iPhone XS display supports a variety of content that needs to be displayed at 120Hz. These are mainly games and some videos. It is important to note that this is not a ProMotion technology like the latest iPad Pros.

Front-camera

And if it’s short? The front camera on iPhone XS has improved portrait capabilities, Depth and Smart HDR support, and a new video stabilization system. The main characteristics of the front cameras of the iPhone XS and iPhone X are identical.

Now for the front camera. Changes in key characteristics of the iPhone XS did not happen here either. Both the iPhone XS and iPhone X are equipped with a TrueDepth front camera with a resolution of 7 megapixels and an aperture of f / 2.2. However, there is a difference between the cameras.

iphone, differs

The front camera of the iPhone XS claims support for the aforementioned improved Portrait mode and Depth and Smart HDR functions. In addition, Apple has updated the video stabilization system when shooting on the front camera.

Face ID

And if it’s short? There are no fundamental changes. But the Face ID feature of the iPhone XS is faster thanks to improvements in the Secure Enclave module.

Face ID has been improved on the iPhone XS. But not through the efforts of the TrueDepth camera system, which includes an infrared scanner, point projector and other innovative Apple sensors. The “stuffing” of the components responsible for the Face ID function has not changed in the iPhone XS compared to the iPhone X.

iphone, differs

But Face ID is still better on the iPhone XS. This happened due to the acceleration of the Secure Enclave protection module. In the iPhone XS, it quickly verifies the owner’s face with a previously saved card. As a result, it quickly identifies the owner of the smartphone.

And, of course, don’t forget about the A12 Bionic processor. It is especially geared towards machine learning, and thus making Face ID work better.

Comparison of iPhone XS and iPhone X. What is the difference and what is in common

Detailed comparison of iPhone XS and iPhone X.

The new 5.8-inch iPhone XS didn’t impress many Apple fans. How much is new in the iPhone XS compared to the iPhone X? We studied the issue and compared the iPhone XS and iPhone X with each other as meticulously as possible. The results were surprising in many ways.

Main camera

And if it’s short? The iPhone XS camera has larger pixels, a new image signal processor, Smart HDR support, improved Portrait mode, Depth post-capture bokeh effect, and 4K video with stereo sound. The main characteristics of the cameras (resolution, aperture) of the iPhone XS and iPhone X are the same.

The “naked” camera characteristics of the iPhone XS and iPhone X are difficult to distinguish:

  • iPhone XS is a 12-megapixel camera with wide-angle (f / 1.8) and telephoto (f / 2.4) lenses. The pixel size of the wide-angle module is 1.4µm, the telephoto lens is 1.0µm. Dual optical image stabilization and dual optical zoom.
  • iPhone XS is a 12-megapixel camera with wide-angle (f / 1.8) and telephoto (f / 2.4) lenses. The pixel size of the wide-angle module is 1.22 µm, the telephoto lens is 1.0 µm. Dual optical image stabilization and dual optical zoom.

As you can see, at first glance, the difference is solely in the pixel size, which is higher for the main camera module of the iPhone XS. It is worth emphasizing here that the pixels have increased greatly. this will affect the quality of the photo in a striking way.

But the main improvements to the main camera of the iPhone XS are just ahead. The Apple A12 Bionic integrates an advanced image signal processor. In what exactly it is better not reported. Apple only clarifies that the overall quality of the images due to this will increase significantly. Also, the quality will be directly affected by the machine learning system Neural Engine.

Also, the iPhone XS camera supports a new and unique Smart HDR mode. When shooting in this mode, details in the light and dark areas of the frame appear as detailed as possible. This will allow you to shoot in low light conditions with the iPhone XS and get great pictures.

The portrait mode in the iPhone XS has been improved over the iPhone X. Apple has adopted a new technology that creates the effect of depth of field more accurately and better. In addition, the “Depth” function is available on the iPhone XS, which allows you to change the bokeh effect after (!).

And the last significant advantage of the iPhone XS camera over the iPhone X. The new Apple smartphone can shoot 4K video, while recording stereo sound. Previously, no Apple smartphone had such an opportunity.

Design

And if it’s short? It will be difficult for you to distinguish between these smartphones. Only in the new gold color for the iPhone XS.

To say that the iPhone XS is similar to the iPhone X is an understatement. The appearance of smartphones is completely identical. It’s the same classic iPhone with rounded corners and glass panels connected by a surgical stainless steel frame. On the front panel there is the same “monobrow” and minimal frames at the bottom and sides. On the back. the same protruding vertical dual camera.

But there are still changes. First of all, this is the new gold color of the iPhone XS case. Last year’s iPhone X was only available in gray and silver. The iPhone XS is also available in both of these colors, but plus gold, and a very unusual one.

And it should also be noted that the glass panels on the front and back surfaces of the iPhone XS are stronger. Apple says it is “the toughest glass ever used in a smartphone.”.

There are no other differences. Even the dimensions of smartphones completely coincide. 143.6 × 70.9 × 7.7 mm.

Although no, one more detail. iPhone XS is three grams heavier than iPhone X. 177g vs 174g.

Water resistant

And if it’s short? iPhone XS is IP68 rated. fully waterproof. iPhone X IP67 Only. Waterproof.

Apple did not talk about this very long at the presentation of the iPhone XS, but the protection against water in the new smartphone has become more reliable. iPhone XS is IP68 water and dust resistant. This means that dust, in principle, cannot get into the device, and a smartphone can stay in water for as long as 30 minutes at a depth of up to two meters.

iphone, differs

The iPhone X has IP67 water and dust resistance. The “ten” is not afraid of dust either, but a smartphone can stay in water only for 30 minutes at a depth of up to one meter.

Memory

iPhone X was available in two versions: 64GB and 256GB.

The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max were the first smartphones from the company with a massive 512GB of built-in storage. This is enough to store 100 thousand photos.

Camera

The design of the iPhone XS camera remains the same. Two main sensors of 12 megapixels, represented by wide-angle and tele lenses, and a 7-megapixel selfie module.

At the same time, the size of the sensor increased from 1.2 to 1.4 microns, which affected the light sensitivity of the matrix, which now transmits 50% more light.

iphone, differs

Thus, in low light conditions, the iPhone XS shoots better.

IPhone XS adds depth-of-field (depth of field) adjustment in portrait mode after taking a photo.

In addition, the iPhone XS also has a Smart HDR mode, which allows you to take several shots at once with different exposures in an instant.

Design

The iPhone XS, from a design point of view, is a complete copy of the iPhone X. Of the changes, we can only note the fact that the iPhone XS is 3 grams heavier than the iPhone X: 177 versus 174 grams.

One more color has been added to the assortment. “gold”. The company’s flagship smartphone is now available in three colors.

According to Apple, the iPhone XS has a more durable protective glass. over, both on the display itself and on the back of the case. It looks like it was the glass that caused the slight weight gain.

Processor and graphics

The iPhone XS has the faster A12 Bionic processor. This is the first processor from the company to be manufactured using a 7nm process technology. The predecessor A11 Bionic was produced in 10nm.

The engineers managed to fit 6.9 billion transistors. According to the company, the A12 Bionic compared to the processor installed in the iPhone X:

The A12 Bionic also has a better graphics core. Mobile graphics are processed 50% faster than their predecessor.

Another improvement that Apple is really proud of is the interaction of the new processor with neural networks. Instead of a 2-core coprocessor, the A12 Bionic uses an 8-core.

For comparison, the A11 Bionic neural coprocessor could process up to 600 billion operations per second. The performance of the new chip is eight times higher. It is capable of processing up to 5 trillion operations per second.

For the consumer, this means only one thing: the iPhone XS is able to process data more efficiently in real time. This is useful for AR applications, of which there are not so many yet.

During the presentation, Apple highlighted another point. With the release of iOS 12, which will be optimized for the new processor, the launch speed of applications on the iPhone XS will increase by 30% (compared to the iPhone X).

Display

The diagonal of the iPhone XS display is the same, the resolution is exactly the same: 2436 x 1125 pixels (458 ppi). Super Retina display contrast and maximum brightness unchanged.

But the dynamic range has increased by 60%. Whether the human eye will notice it is a moot point.

The iPhone X also had support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision, so it smoothly migrated to the updated smartphone.

How the iPhone XS differs from the iPhone X

Last night Apple showed the new iPhone XS, and at the same time removed from sales last year’s flagship iPhone X.

In Russia, the iPhone XS will cost from 87,990 rubles. for the 64 GB version and up to 118,990 rubles. iPhone with 512GB of storage.

The diagonal of the display remains the same. 5.8 inches, the design and arrangement of the cameras are unchanged. So is it worth overpaying 23 thousand rubles. (the actual difference at the time of publication of the material) for the iPhone XS or “ten” will be no worse?

Understanding the issue and comparing the iPhone XS with the iPhone X.

Waterproof

iPhone XS is IP68 rated. In the predecessor, this figure corresponds to IP67.

In practice, the key difference between the standards is as follows:

Apple says the iPhone XS has been tested for water resistance in a wide variety of liquids: juice, water, wine, and beer. With a smartphone, you can safely dive to the bottom of the pool without worrying about its performance.

However, if water gets inside the gadget, you void the warranty. This is written on the official website of the company.

What else is the difference between the iPhone XS and the iPhone X?

In addition to the aforementioned differences, it is worth noting the not-so-tangible changes that affected the iPhone XS:

  • IPhone XS has faster Face ID thanks to new processor
  • There is no longer an audio adapter included with the iPhone XS. You will have to buy it separately
  • The autonomy of the iPhone XS is slightly higher than the iPhone X. The difference is 30 minutes
  • The cost of repairing the display and rear glass panel remains the same
  • The iPhone XS is officially priced the same as the iPhone X, but only in the US. In Russia, the price at the start of sales jumped from 79,990 rubles. up to RUB 87,990 for the basic version with 64 GB of memory
  • IPhone XS has an improved NFC sensor that does not require opening applications to read NFC tags
  • IPhone XS has faster wireless charging speeds. How much? Apple did not elaborate. Presumably from 7.5 W it increased to 10 W
  • The iPhone XS now has support for two SIM-cards, but the Russian buyer is not interested in this. For China, this is hardware support, for other countries. eSIM nanoSIM

This completes the list of changes. Whether such an upgrade is worth more than twenty thousand rubles or not, it is up to you to decide.

The iPhone XS will go on sale on September 28 at a price of 87,990 rubles. The iPhone X model has been removed from the official site, but for now it will remain on the counters of official resellers.

Dimensions. XS fits comfortably in the hand

In the fall, I was lucky enough to spend a week with the iPhone 11 as my primary smartphone, which gave me some food for thought. First, I’m definitely not a fan of big smartphones. Secondly, the iPhone 11 is exactly like that. It would seem that a couple of millimeters here, a little there and quite a bit here, but the difference is enormous. In the hands of the iPhone XS it feels like a crumbs, easy to use, and 11 is a frank “fat man”. Of course, there are reasons for this. the iPhone 11 has a larger screen, thicker bezels and a larger battery. but I concluded that I get little pleasure from using such a device. over, even in a case, the iPhone XS remains usable with one hand, which cannot be said about 11. In general, if you, like me, are a fan of smaller smartphones, you should take a closer look at the XS.

OLED display with thin bezels

Perhaps the main difference between smartphones, which immediately catches your eye, is their displays. While the iPhone XS has a gorgeous OLED panel with a high resolution of 1125 × 2436 pixels and an unbelievable 1,000,000: 1 contrast ratio, the iPhone 11 only boasts an HD display with a 1,400: 1 contrast ratio. Moving away from numbers, in real life, the iPhone XS has a sharper, brighter and more vibrant screen. Do not be afraid of the disadvantages typical for OLED matrices, namely oversaturated colors and deviations in green tones. Apple has done a great job on calibrating this display, and therefore it is simply ideal for photo editing and content viewing. Among other things, the OLED display allowed engineers to make the bezels much thinner. it not only looks attractive, but also allows you to make the smartphone trite smaller, which I will talk about in the next paragraph.

Camera. 2x anti-ultra-wide zoom

The ultra-wide-angle camera module in the iPhone 11, in my opinion, shoots averagely. During the use of the smartphone with this camera, I took the least number of photos, which, I think, speaks for itself. I don’t need super-width. Of course, such a camera opens up new possibilities in mobile photography and allows you to get interesting results, but most often it all comes down to the fact that you turn on super wide, you see that the quality of the photo does not shine, and you switch back to the main camera. especially if all this is happening in a room where the difference between modules is most noticeable.

The double zoom is another matter. Everything is clear and simple. The optional 12-megapixel module in the iPhone XS doubles the image, straightening the proportions and mowing line, coming close to 55mm. As for me, it’s just gold. Photos from this particular camera are most easily passed off as taken on a large DSLR, adding a little magic to the lightroom. The 2x zoom allows you to look at the sign across the road while standing still and take a picture of the task on the board without getting up. In general, as you understand, for me the additional camera of the iPhone XS turned out to be more useful than that in the iPhone 11.
