tips to extend the life of your smartphone battery

Today’s phones use lithium batteries, which are superior in performance and longevity to their nickel predecessors. Nevertheless, there are a number of nuances that many do not know about, which leads to their rapid failure. Let’s take a look at how to extend the life of your lithium-ion and lithium-polymer battery.

Myth You can’t leave your phone turned on overnight.

This opinion was formed due to old devices that got hot and could fail. However, manufacturers have long since solved this problem. A connected smartphone will automatically stop receiving power when the battery indicator reaches 100%.

Honor 10: other characteristics and prices

The smartphone comes out running Android 8.1 with a proprietary shell EMUI 8.1. Note the support for all Wi-Fi and NFC standards. There is no FM radio, but there is a 3.5 mm audio jack for analog headphones.

At the start of sales, the Honor 10 will be available in four colors: traditional black, blue, gray and green, which is somewhat reminiscent of the Twilight color of the Huawei P20. The base price of the Honor 10 will be around 415. For a configuration of 6/128 GB you will have to pay in the region of 480 bucks.

There are many opinions on how to charge electronic devices. In the minds of people, certain rules for charging a smartphone have long been fixed. But some of them are irrelevant for modern mobile devices, while others are generally myths, following which you can harm the device’s battery and reduce the time of its operation and autonomy. It’s time to talk about how to properly charge your Honor and Huawei phone, what you shouldn’t do in order not to harm the battery and how to prolong its life.

Use original chargers

When creating smartphones and tablets, developers take into account the voltage and current that will be optimal for normal operation and complete them with chargers with the appropriate parameters. The use of universal devices and chargers from other phones may negatively affect the operation of Huawei and Honor equipment.

Daily Charging

All subsequent charging of Huawei phones and tablets can be carried out at your convenience. It is recommended not to wait until the device is completely discharged and when the battery value is 10-15%, connect it to the mains.

Observe the temperature regime

Temperature loads will reduce the service life. Optimal conditions for normal operation of the device vary in the temperature range from 0 to 30 degrees Celsius.

Built-in memory

The main camera of a mobile device is usually located on its rear panel and can be combined with one or more additional cameras.

Information about the type of camera sensor. One of the most widely used types of sensors in mobile cameras. these are CMOS, BSI, ISOCELL, etc.

Aperture (also known as aperture, aperture, or f-number) is a measure of the size of the lens aperture, which determines the amount of light entering the sensor. The lower the f-number, the larger the aperture and the more light reaches the sensor. Usually, the f-number is indicated, corresponding to the largest possible aperture of the aperture.

The focal length indicates the distance in millimeters from the sensor to the optical center of the lens. Equivalent focal length (35mm). This is the focal length of the mobile device camera, equated to the focal length of a 35mm full-frame sensor, which will achieve the same angle of view It is calculated by multiplying the real focal length of the mobile device camera by the crop factor of its sensor. Crop factor can be defined as the ratio between the diagonals of a 35 mm full-size sensor and a mobile device sensor.

The rear (rear) cameras of mobile devices mainly use LED flashes. They can be configured with one, two or more light sources and vary in shape.

Resolution is one of the main characteristics of cameras. It represents the number of horizontal and vertical pixels in the image. For convenience, smartphone manufacturers often quote resolutions in megapixels, indicating the approximate number of pixels in millions.

Information about the maximum video resolution that the camera can record.

Information about the maximum recording rate (frames per second, fps) supported by the camera at maximum resolution. Some of the most basic video recording speeds of 24 fps, 25 fps, 30 fps, 60 fps.

Information about additional software and hardware features of the rear (rear) camera.

Huawei Honor 10 Lite review

The Huawei Honor 10 Lite is an affordable dual camera smartphone with a large bezel-less display. The device received a spectacular glass design, as well as an almost imperceptible “drop” instead of a “bang”. The presentation of the model took place on November 21, 2018.

Huawei Honor 10 Lite

Iron and performance

The Honor 10 Lite is powered by the new Kirin 710 processor, which has eight cores. Four standard Cortex-A53 cores run at 1700 MHz, while the rest of the Cortex-A73 cores are high-performance cores operating at 2200 MHz. This chipset was created using a 12nm process technology. Graphics are actively engaged in 3D accelerator Mali-G51 MP4.

The most affordable version of the device comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in file storage. There is also a modification with 6 GB of RAM, as well as 64 or 128 GB of ROM. If you use a microSD card instead of the second SIM, you will be able to expand the free space up to 512 GB. Inside there is a non-removable battery with a capacity of 3400 mAh. Its charge is enough for a day of active use. Out of the box, the device runs on the latest Android 9.0 operating system along with the proprietary EMUI 9.0 shell.

In the performance test AnTuTu v7, the gadget is gaining about 140,000 points. This figure can be called excellent considering the availability of the phone. Especially impressive is the work of the eight-core processor, which copes with any task. This device cannot be called a gaming one, since the graphics accelerator is not the most powerful here, but many games run on medium graphics settings without serious brakes. Almost all popular applications function quickly and open instantly.

Appearance and ergonomics

Huawei Honor 10 Lite got a case made of tempered glass. There is a solid metal frame between the two glass panels. The entire front part is occupied by a large screen. He got very thin frames from literally all sides. Slightly more padding is at the bottom. But there is no large cutout here, it was replaced by a “drop” on which the front camera’s eye is located. The earpiece speaker in the form of a thin strip is located closer to the top edge. Navigation buttons are located on the display.

The back cover has slightly sloping sides for a better grip. At the same time, the glossy material is rather slippery, which must be taken into account during use. On the back, there are two main camera modules, an LED flash and the AI Camera logo. Closer to the center is a round fingerprint scanner. At the bottom there is a classic headphone jack, small holes for an external speaker, a microphone and a microUSB port. The upper edge received a SIM card slot and an additional microphone. On the right you can see the power and volume buttons.

The smartphone looks very elegant and fashionable. A special effect is produced by the frameless design, as well as the ubiquitous presence of 2.5D glass. Available colors: black, blue, white, red. Dimensions: height. 154.8 mm, width. 73.6 mm, thickness. 8 mm, weight. 162 g.

Communication and sound

The Huawei Honor 10 Lite has an excellent earpiece. With its help, the interlocutor is clearly audible even on a noisy street. The multimedia speaker is not all that good, but at least it is quite loud. Things are much better with the sound in headphones. The built-in equalizer with flexible settings helps with this. The device supports two SIM-cards, Bluetooth 4.2 and LTE networks.

The Honor 10 Lite has a 6.21-inch IPS screen. Such a large matrix is covered with a 2.5D protective glass. The 19.5: 9 aspect ratio makes the display look distinctly elongated. The resolution of this screen is 2340 by 1080 pixels. The level of detail is at a very high level. Reading mode can be selected to significantly reduce eye strain.

The display is highlighted with an increased brightness level. The image is quite juicy, and the color temperature goes a little to cool shades. The user has the ability to customize the color gamut at his own discretion. It is pleasant to watch movies or run games on such a high-quality screen. It is also great for casual surfing in the vastness of the global web.

With its low price, high performance and premium design, the Honor 10 Lite is a hit. This device has a dual camera, a powerful chip, a frameless screen with a large diagonal, a new version of the Android operating system and a glass body. The smartphone also supports fashionable AI technologies, which are especially vivid during the filming process.

The main camera of Honor 10 is dual: here a 16-megapixel color sensor and a 24-megapixel black and white.

Why 2 cameras on Honor 10?

By processing data from two images at once (black and white and color), the system obtains more information about the dynamic range, and due to this, high sensitivity is achieved. To make it clearer: one module captures light (monochrome), the other. color (color).

Why does a smartphone have multiple cameras?

All this allows mobile phones to shoot better, brighter and sharper, while not increasing the size of the smartphone. That’s why a smartphone has multiple cameras. and the more, the better. Probably, the devices of the new generation will often be covered with the “eyes” of the lenses.

Honor 10X Lite Review: Affordable Big Screen Smartphone with 5000mAh Battery

Despite all the difficulties, Honor continues to saturate the market with more and more new products. By the end of autumn, Honor 10X Lite arrived on the Russian market. It will be the Russians who will see it first in the world, and only then all the others. And we, in turn, tried to be one of the first to acquaint readers in the most detailed way with all the possibilities of this novelty.

Appearance and usability

The design of the Honor 10X Lite is ordinary, one might even say a little boring, at least in black. The smartphone is large, feels thick (although in fact its 9.3 mm thickness is more than the average 8-9 mm now, but not much), glossy, rather heavy. On the other hand, the good news is that, finally, the boom of bright gradient overflows and too variegated colors has passed. Here, everything is played out subtly. Now the smartphone looks solid, and even more expensive than it actually is.

The glossy coating of the backrest is, of course, soiled and slippery. However, in the hands the body of the smartphone does not slip thanks to the rough side frame. The frame, by the way, is also plastic, there are no jumpers on it.

The cameras protrude slightly beyond the surface, but the smartphone is more or less stable on the table, it can be used.

On the front panel, there is one camera module for self-shooting. It is cut into a round hole in the screen matrix, and such a solution has already been found in Honor models, but the 10X Lite is the first device where such a hole is located in the middle of the upper part of the screen, and not in its corner. In addition to taking self-portraits, the front camera is used for face unlocking. No alert LED.

The power key does not stick out, but on the contrary, is slightly recessed. It has a built-in fingerprint scanner that works quickly and clearly. Volume key is thin and stiff.

The slot for cards is triple: designed for two Nano-SIM cards and a microSD memory card, support for media with a capacity of up to 512 GB is declared. Hot swappable cards supported.

Почему нет? Honor 10 lite. ЛУЧШИЙ до 10К!

There is nothing on the top torus except for the second auxiliary microphone.

At the bottom there is a 3.5 mm audio output for headphones, a USB Type-C connector, as well as a speaker and a spoken microphone. There are no stereo speakers in the device.

The Honor 10X Lite is available in three color options: Midnight Black, Emerald Green and Sunset Ultraviolet. The smartphone case did not receive full protection from dust and moisture.

The Honor 10X Lite smartphone is equipped with a 6.67-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1080 × 2400, covered with Corning Gorilla Glass (which generation is not specified). The physical dimensions of the screen are 70 × 154 mm, the aspect ratio is 20: 9, and the dot density is 394 ppi. The width of the frame around the screen is 3 mm from the sides, 4 mm from the top and 7 mm from the bottom. The screen does not support a refresh rate higher than 60 Hz, but you can reduce the resolution or set the auto-adjust resolution.

The front surface of the screen is made in the form of a glass plate with a mirror-smooth surface, resistant to scratches. Judging by the reflection of objects, the anti-glare properties of the screen are better than that of the Google Nexus 7 (2013) (hereinafter simply Nexus 7). For clarity, here is a photo in which a white surface is reflected in the turned off screens (on the left. Nexus 7, on the right. Honor 10X Lite, then they can be distinguished by their size):

The screen of the Honor 10X Lite is noticeably darker (brightness in the photos is 99 versus 110 for the Nexus 7). The doubling of reflected objects in the Honor 10X Lite screen is very weak, this indicates that there is no air gap between the layers of the screen (more specifically, between the outer glass and the surface of the LCD matrix) (OGS type screen. One Glass Solution). Due to the smaller number of boundaries (such as glass / air) with greatly different refractive indices, such screens look better in conditions of intense ambient light, but their repair in the case of cracked outer glass is much more expensive, since the entire screen has to be changed. On the outer surface of the screen there is a special oleophobic (grease-repellent) coating, which is slightly better in efficiency than that of the Nexus 7, so fingerprints are much easier to remove, and appear at a slower speed than in the case of ordinary glass.

When the white field was displayed in full screen and with manual brightness control, its maximum value was 420 cd / m². The maximum brightness is quite high, therefore, given the excellent anti-glare properties, the readability of the screen even on a sunny day outdoors should be at an acceptable level. The minimum brightness value is 2 cd / m². In complete darkness, the brightness can be lowered to a comfortable value. In the presence of automatic brightness control by the light sensor (it is located to the right of the front speaker on the upper edge of the front panel). In automatic mode, when the ambient light conditions change, the screen brightness both increases and decreases. The operation of this function depends on the position of the brightness adjustment slider: with it, the user can try to set the desired brightness level in the current conditions. If you do not intervene, then in complete darkness, the auto-brightness function reduces the brightness to 5 cd / m2 (a bit dark), in an office illuminated with artificial light (about 550 lx) sets it to 120 cd / m2 (normal), and conditionally in direct sunlight increases to 420 cd / m² (up to the maximum, just right). The result did not quite suit us, so in complete darkness we slightly increased the brightness, resulting in the following values for the three conditions indicated above: 15, 140 and 420 cd / m² (an ideal combination). It turns out that the automatic brightness control function works adequately and allows the user to customize his work for individual requirements. At any brightness level, there is no significant backlight modulation, so there is no screen flicker either.

This smartphone uses an IPS-type matrix. The micrographs show the typical IPS subpixel structure:

For comparison, you can see the gallery of micrographs of screens used in mobile technology.

The screen has good viewing angles without significant color shift, even with large gaze deviations from the perpendicular to the screen, and without tint inversion. For comparison, here are the photos in which the same images are displayed on the screens of Honor 10X Lite and Nexus 7, while the brightness of the screens was initially set to about 200 cd / m², and the color balance on the camera was forcibly switched to 6500 K.

Note the good uniformity of brightness and color tone of the white field.

The colors on the Honor 10X Lite‘s screen are a little oversaturated, and the color balance of the screens varies. Recall that a photograph cannot serve as a reliable source of information about the quality of color rendition and is provided only for a conditional visual illustration. The reason is that the spectral sensitivity of the camera matrix does not exactly match this characteristic of human vision.

Now at an angle of approximately 45 degrees to the plane and to the side of the screen:

It can be seen that the colors did not change much on both screens, but on the Honor 10X Lite the contrast decreased to a greater extent due to the more black highlighting.

The brightness at an angle of the screens decreased (at least 5 times, based on the difference in exposure), but the smartphone’s brightness at this angle is still slightly higher. The black field is strongly lightened when deviated along the diagonal, but remains conditionally neutral gray. The photos below demonstrate this (the brightness of the white areas in the direction perpendicular to the plane of the screens is the same!):

When viewed from a perpendicular view, the uniformity of the black field is good:

The contrast (approximately in the center of the screen) is high. about 1100: 1. Black-white-black response time is 18 ms (9 ms on 9 ms off). The transition between gray tones of 25% and 75% (based on the numerical value of the color) and back in total takes 30 ms. The gamma curve, plotted using 32 points at equal intervals in terms of the numerical value of the shade of gray, showed no blockage in either the highlights or the shadows. The exponent of the approximating power function is 2.07, which is below the standard value of 2.2. In this case, the real gamma curve significantly deviates from the power dependence:

This is due to the fact that this device has a dynamic adjustment of the backlight brightness with an unobvious dependence on time and on the nature of the displayed image. As a result, the obtained dependence of brightness on the hue (gamma curve) may not correspond to the gamma curve of a static image, since the measurements were carried out with sequential output of gray shades almost on the entire screen. For this reason, a number of tests. determining the contrast and response time, comparing the black illumination at angles. we carried out (however, as always) when displaying special templates with a constant average brightness, and not single-color fields across the entire screen. In general, such a non-switchable brightness correction does nothing but harm, since a constant change in screen brightness can at least cause some discomfort.

The spectra of the components are fairly well separated, which leads to a wide color gamut. For a consumer device, a wide color gamut is a disadvantage, since as a result, the colors of images. drawings, photographs and films. oriented to the sRGB space (and there are the vast majority of them) have an unnatural saturation. This is especially noticeable on recognizable shades, such as skin tones. The result is shown in the photos above.

However, not everything is so bad: when you select the Normal profile, the coverage is compressed to the sRGB borders.

Cross-mixing of the component increases:

Colors in images become less saturated (and color balance changes):

The balance of shades on the gray scale after selecting the Normal profile is acceptable, since the color temperature is not much higher than the standard 6500 K (about 7600 K on a white field), and the deviation from Spectra of a black body (ΔE) below 10. 3.6 is also on white what is considered an excellent indicator for a consumer device.

This device has the ability to correct the color balance by adjusting the hue on the color wheel or simply by choosing one of the three preset profiles.

In the graphs below, the Vivid curves correspond to the results without any color balance correction (Vivid profile), and the Normal curves correspond to the results data obtained after selecting the Normal profile and manual correction of color balance (point on the correction circle. as in the picture above). (The darkest areas of the gray scale can be ignored, since the color balance there is not very important, and the error in measuring color characteristics at low brightness is large.)

It can be seen that the change in balance corresponds to the expected result, since ΔE has decreased, and the color temperature has approached the standard 6500 K. There is some benefit from such a correction, although the maximum brightness has noticeably decreased. Note that this function is implemented in a variant rather for show, since there is no numerical reflection of the correction and there is no special field for measuring the color balance.

There is already a traditional setting that allows you to reduce the intensity of the blue component.

Marketers tried to intimidate the user in order to show the degree of concern of the manufacturer. Of course, there is no harmful UV radiation (see spectrum above), and there is no eye strain caused by blue light. In principle, bright light can lead to a violation of the daily (circadian) rhythm, but everything is solved by reducing the brightness to a comfortable level, and there is absolutely no point in distorting the color balance, reducing the contribution of blue.

To summarize: the screen has a fairly high maximum brightness (420 cd / m²) and has excellent anti-glare properties, so the device can be used outdoors even on a sunny summer day. In complete darkness, the brightness can be lowered to a comfortable level (up to 2 cd / m²). It is also acceptable to use the mode with automatic brightness adjustment, which works adequately. Also, the advantages of the screen include an effective oleophobic coating, no air gap in the layers of the screen and no flicker, high contrast (1100: 1), sRGB color gamut and good color balance (when choosing the right profile and after a little correction). The disadvantages are the low stability of black to deviation of the gaze from the perpendicular to the plane of the screen. Taking into account the importance of characteristics for this particular class of devices, the screen quality can be considered good.

Four camera modules are installed at the back. Three of them are removed, the fourth module is a sensor for measuring the depth of the scene. Thus, the smartphone can shoot at wide and ultra-wide angles, and do macro photography, but did not receive a telephoto lens with optical zoom.

  • 48 MP, f / 1.8, (main), 1 / 2.0 “, 0.8 μm, PDAF
  • 8 MP, f / 2.4, 120˚ (ultrawide)
  • 2 MP, f / 2.4, (macro)
  • 2 MP, f / 2.4, (scene depth)

The control interface is familiar and quite detailed. You can find many control methods for yourself, from manual pro-mode to gesture control and even a smile. Shooting in RAW is not provided as standard, but there is no interference with the use of third-party programs.

The main camera received a 48-megapixel module with an f / 1.8 aperture lens. There is a fast phase detection autofocus, no optical stabilization. By default, it shoots at 12 megapixels with the already familiar function of combining four pixels into one. In the corners, the picture “lathers”, and this is probably due to the lenses used. In the default version (12 megapixels), the picture looks more contrasting, clear, and therefore three-dimensional. If you just need to shoot in automatic mode, and there is no desire to “confuse” shooting in the manual settings mode, then there is no point in switching to “full” resolution (48 megapixels). In automatic shooting mode, a “full-size” photo comes out flatter, whitish and blurry, it requires post-processing.
