How long does the iPhone XS charge?
The iPhone XS lasted 9 hours and 41 minutes, the iPhone XS Max lasted 10 hours and 38 minutes. At the same time, the iPhone X turned off only after 10 hours and 49 minutes. Thus, neither the iPhone XS nor the iPhone XS Max were able to show similar results in battery life.
What is the battery on the iPhone SE?
The iPhone SE has a 1624 mAh battery. The iPhone 6s has a 1715mAh battery, while the iPhone 5s has a 1560mAh battery. However, take a look at the claimed runtimes of the various functions.
How long does the iPhone 8 Plus battery hold??
iPhone 8 Plus. 2675mAh iPhone 7 Plus. 2900mAh iPhone 6s Plus. 2750mAh iPhone 6 Plus. 2915mAh
Which iPhone holds the charge better?
The iPhone XS and XS Max have almost the same battery life. The XR, on the other hand, is the record holder, the best iPhone ever in terms of battery life, although its battery capacity is even lower than the XS Max.
How long does the iPhone XR battery hold??
According to the leak, the iPhone XR 2019 will receive a 3110 mAh battery. The XR of the current generation has this figure of 2942 mAh. Despite the fact that the iPhone XS has a larger battery, the XR model was recognized as the most autonomous, comparing its performance with its older “brothers”.
How long does an iPhone hold on average?
The battery capacity is 2716 mAh. Talk mode. up to 21 hours. Internet surfing. up to 12 hours. Audio playback. up to 60 hours.
How long does an iPhone 7 battery last??
If we talk about the real indicators of iPhone 7 autonomy, then users of the base 4.7 “model can count on 5-6 hours of LTE browsing, while 5.5” in a similar operating scenario will work for an hour and a half longer.
Battery life for iPhone 6S and 6S Plus
In improved iPhones of the 6th series, Apple has “cut” the battery capacity compared to their younger brothers. the regular “six”. over, given how reluctant the company is to increase the batteries in its gadgets, such “cuts” are not very pleasant for users. Let’s take a look at how this affected the battery life of the iPhone 6S:
As you can see, practically nothing has changed. According to the company, this is achieved primarily through the use of a new, more energy efficient processor. Let’s believe her, especially since in reality it is approximately the same. the iPhone 6S keeps charging at the level of its predecessor.
How long does it take to charge the iPhone 4 and 4s
|Talk time (2G network)||fourteen||fourteen|
|Talk time (3G network)||7||eight|
|Listening to music||40||40|
As you can see, with a slight increase in the size of the battery, smartphones perform approximately the same. The only thing is that the talk time in 3g networks has increased for the iPhone 4s. It is unlikely that the extra 10 mAh played a role; rather, the matter is in the improved processor and wireless chip. Although for the sake of fairness, from my own experience I can see that they hold the charge equally. the difference is almost impossible to notice.
IPhone 7 and 7 Plus battery capacity. how long does it hold a charge?
In the iPhone 7, many, including myself, were expecting, if not a revolutionary breakthrough in battery life, then at least a significant increase. Have you waited? Now we will find out:
The battery capacity has grown by 245 mAh for the iPhone 7 and 150 mAh for the iPhone 7 Plus, which should provide improved battery life. This is what Apple tells us in the specifications of the “seventh” iPhone on its website:
However, if you skip all these statements and look at the numbers, you will see that nothing has changed significantly. And some of the numbers indicating the operating time in hours have even decreased. As a result, we can conclude: all these “dances” with indicators left the autonomy at the same level. the iPhone 7 (Plus) keep charging as much as the “six”.
How long does it take to charge the iPhone SE (2020)?
But here there is practically nothing to paint. Since the iPhone SE (2020) is an almost complete copy of the iPhone 8, the battery life is almost the same.
Yes, there were hopes for a more energy efficient processor in the iPhone SE (2020), however
iPhone SE (2020), in comparison with the iPhone 8, did not receive any noticeable increase in autonomy. It’s a shame, annoying, but okay. The indicators at least have not deteriorated, and that’s good! 🙂
IPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max battery life
In 2020, Apple did its best and released as many as four new iPhone models.
Tim Cook, stop! You don’t have to churn out many different iPhones. Do two, but normal! 🙂
In the meantime, Tim does not stop, let’s figure out how long these same iPhone 12s hold a charge:
- iPhone 12 mini. If you look at the battery capacity and the data that Apple indicates, then the situation is quite normal (slightly better than the iPhone 8). However, it would be foolish to count on something more (with such a size).
- iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro. These models have the same battery, therefore, they hold the same charge plus or minus. Judging by the characteristics. at the level of the iPhone 11 Pro.
- iPhone 12 Pro Max. Largest smartphone. largest battery capacity. longest battery life. iPhone 12 Pro Max lasts about the same as iPhone 11 Pro Max.
By the way, here are the results of the iPhone 12 battery life test when playing video at home (not the way Apple tests it).
Total: in comparison with the iPhone 11, the iPhone 12 has changed the design, improved the internals (processor, memory, etc.), and the battery life indicators remained at the same level. Which, in itself, is not so bad anymore 🙂
IPhone XR battery life
As usual, we open the Apple website and see this wonderful inscription: “iPhone XR works up to 1.5 hours longer than iPhone 8 Plus”.
If you recall the “plus eight”, then it really held the charge quite well. And here we are promised even more! Victory? It depends on which side you look at
Approximately the same? Yes. Much longer? No.
However, as we remember, a lot depends on the use case.
For example, if you listen to music with headphones, then the iPhone XR will easily work for a couple of days.
How long does it take to charge the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max?
- IPhone XS Battery Capacity. 2658 mAh.
- The battery capacity of the iPhone XS MAX is 3174 mAh. This is the largest battery ever installed in an iPhone so far.!
Now let’s move on to the main indicators. And if we take the official data, then something unimaginable is happening here 🙂
iPhone 11. One Year Later
We go to the Apple website and see this information about the operating time of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.
Confuses nothing? For example, I am very amazed by two lines:
- iPhone XS lasts up to 30 minutes on a single charge than iPhone X.
- iPhone XS Max lasts up to 1.5 hours on a single charge than iPhone X.
And now we look at the indicators of the iPhone X (previous iPhone models) and we have a very interesting chain:
- iPhone XS lasts 30 minutes longer than iPhone X. And iPhone XS Max lasts 1.5 hours longer than iPhone X.
- At the same time. iPhone X lasts 2 hours longer than iPhone 7.
- But that is not all! iPhone 7 lasts 2 hours longer than iPhone 6S.
Apple, are you all right? 🙂 Add up the indicators and get the result:
- iPhone XS lasts 4.5 hours longer than iPhone 6S.
- iPhone XS Max lasts 5.5 hours longer than iPhone 6S.
Is it true? It turns out that Apple has achieved almost a twofold increase in operating time since the iPhone 6S?
I wouldn’t say that. In fact, of course, Apple’s latest smartphones do hold up a little better. But in the end, everything comes to the same denominator. the iPhone XS, with active use, keeps charging from morning to evening. The iPhone XS Max has a slightly better situation (approximately 30%).
How do you like at work? How long does the charge hold ?
Who bought the iPhone 11 for themselves? Or 11pro How do you work? How much does the charge hold with full use? I got myself a red one, it lasts 7 hours without recharging with constant use. How are you?
I have an iPhone 11, if I do not actively use it, then it is enough for two days, even a little more. If I actively use it, then for a day. I watched the battery life more than 10 hours in the asset
I agree, something is not enough. My husband Philips has a brick, it keeps a charge for three weeks. This is the thing!
I sat on the Internet. Movies, TV shows, Instagram, YouTube. In general, it was discharged by 50%. And if you go so cleanly, but not how many calls, then 1.5 days. In general, at 4g it is thinned quickly. And Viber eats the battery to smithereens. In general, there is nothing beyond natural in this iPhone. And I also love to travel in google maps. I love panoramas very much. Also discharges in aggregate.
iPhone 11 Battery Drain from 100% to 0% | How Long the iPhone 11 Actually Lasts!
I envy people who go to nature.
Fully discharge iPhone once a month. Apple advises.
It is difficult to control the chemical processes in the battery. And since the dependence of the output voltage on the battery capacity is non-linear and the lithium-ion battery is subject to natural aging, accompanied by a decrease in capacity, and also because we charge devices at random, the iPhone power controller cannot accurately determine the battery charge level over time. Diagnosis: iPhone turns off even when charged more than 1%.
In order to calibrate the controller and bring the battery level indicator to life, the iPhone needs to be completely discharged. Apple advises to do this no more than once a month.
Don’t charge your iPhone to 100%.
Fully charging a lithium-ion battery is not as bad as a deep discharge, but still undesirable. Of course, the controller will not allow the battery of your device to overheat and overcharge, but, as practice shows, the constant inclusion of a 100% charged iPhone in the network reduces its battery life.
From personal experience: Leave iPhone on charge overnight. For a while, a 100% charged device will be connected to the network, but nothing will happen to it. this is not the storage time to worry about it. With this charge, your iPhone will “hold” for more than two years.
How to Charge iPhone and iPad Correctly: Don’t Charge 0-100% and Other Tips
There is no ideal scheme, but still adhere to the generally accepted rules and recommendations of the manufacturer.
iPhone is an expensive device that we usually buy for at least 2 years. At the same time, we have hopes that after the planned service life it will still work properly and we will be able to sell it for “good” money.
One of the first, buyers of a second-hand iPhone, ask a question about the state of the device’s power supply, for example: “How long does the battery hold?” So it makes sense to take care of the correct operation of the iPhone battery right now.
As a power source in iPhones, iPads and other portable equipment, Apple (other manufacturers too) uses lithium-ion batteries, which:
- Charge faster.
- Work longer.
- Have an increased specific capacity.
- Not subject to memory effect.
The memory effect of a storage battery is understood as a reversible loss of capacity that occurs in some types of electric batteries when the recommended charging mode is violated, in particular, when recharging an incompletely discharged battery.
As an experienced iPhone and iPad owner (since 2008) I declare with full responsibility that Apple uses quality power sources in its products.
According to official information, the battery on the iPhone provides up to 80% of the original capacity after 500 full charge cycles (on Apple Watch, iPad, MacBook. after 1000 cycles). This means that after 500 full charge cycles, the battery life of the iPhone will decrease by only 20% (ideal case).
The loss of battery capacity over time is inevitable and is caused by the natural aging process, the intensity of which is influenced by:
- The temperature at which the battery is operated and charged.
- Depth of discharge before next recharge.
- Charging with currents higher than those specified by the manufacturer.
So, in order for the battery on your iPhone after two years of operation to “hold” a minimum of daylight hours, follow these simple rules.
Don’t drain your iPhone completely (up to 0%).
The life of a lithium-ion battery is commonly expressed in terms of the number of full discharge cycles when you use 100% of the battery’s capacity. For quality power supplies, this is 400-600 cycles. Apple Says iPhone Battery Life 500 Cycles, iPad, Apple Watch And MacBook 1000 Cycles.
Whenever you completely discharge your device, its lifespan will be shortened. This is due to the depth of discharge.
It turns out that the more you discharge a lithium-ion battery, the faster it “dies”. Avoid deep discharge to maximize battery life.
For clarity, I will give the dependence of the number of battery discharge cycles on the depth of discharge.
|Discharge depth||Number of discharge cycles|
Not many people know that Apple batteries are charged in 2 stages:
- Up to 80%. in fast mode.
- 80 to 100% trickle charge.
Such a charging system allows, firstly, to quickly charge the device, and, secondly, to extend its service life.
From personal experience: Connect your iPhone and iPad to a power source at 10-20% charge and unplug after 80%.
How to charge iPhone correctly?
A separate page is devoted to this issue on the official Apple website.
Use an original charger and at least a certified USB cable to charge your iPhone.
For example, if you increase the charge voltage of a lithium-ion battery by only 4%, then it will lose capacity twice as fast from cycle to cycle. To prevent this, special PMIC controllers are built into the original AC adapter and directly into the iPhone (in batteries this is the Battery Management System), which make sure that the conditions for recharging the device do not go beyond the permissible limits: temperature, current and voltage.
In network adapters without clan and tribe, the so-called “nouns”, such a controller may not exist. Consequently, the voltage at the output of such an adapter can exceed the permissible values and can burn out the power controller in the iPhone, and then damage the battery.
From personal experience: Charge iPhone from original chargers with a certified cable and forget about battery problems.
Do not use or charge your device in extreme temperatures (-40 ° C and 50 ° C).
Apple considers an ideal temperature range of 16 ° C to 22 ° C and does not recommend “using your device in ambient temperatures above 35 ° C as this could permanently reduce battery capacity.” Overheating is critical!
From personal experience: I don’t look at the thermometer when I pick up my iPhone 5s, which I don’t recommend to you either. It is enough that:
- The device has not been exposed to direct sunlight.
- Do not leave it in the car in the heat.
- Do not charge under the pillow.
I would like to note that each of us charges our devices in our own way. If there is an ideal scheme, then it cannot satisfy everyone, since we live in a different rhythm and in different conditions. Remember, your iPhone battery will age even if you don’t use the device. Stick to the rules described above (you don’t have to follow them rigorously) and even if your iPhone battery fails, it can always be replaced.
iPhone 11 Pro
Official Score: “Up to 4 hours more than iPhone XS” Streaming playback up to 11 hours Playback up to 18 hours Audio playback: Up to 65 hours Battery capacity: unknown
Our testing: If you use the iPhone 11 Pro all day (social media, YouTbe browsing over Wi-Fi), then the charge runs out in the afternoon. The iPhone 11 Pro battery isn’t as durable as the iPhone 11 Pro Max, but it still delivers the quality you need. Most easily have a day and a half of charge, but two are out of the question.
iPhone 8 Plus
Official score: “About the same as iPhone 7 Plus” Talk time: up to 21 hours Internet use: up to 13 hours Playback up to 14 hours Audio playback: up to 60 hours iPhone 8 Plus battery: 2.691 milliamps
Our testing: iPhone 8 Plus is not very different from the iPhone 7 Plus, so it did not last until the evening and was discharged in the afternoon.
While Apple claims that the iPhone XS Max technically can last longer than the iPhone 8 Plus, in our testing we found the iPhone 8 Plus battery life to be the winner in everyday use. At the end of one typical day, we typically had 50 to 40% battery remaining on the iPhone 8 Plus, just below what we got on the iPhone XR. In comparison, using our iPhone XS Max runs from 40% to 30% charge at the end of the day.
Official Score: “Up to 1 hour more than iPhone XR” Streaming playback up to 10 hours Playback up to 17 hours Audio playback: Up to 65 hours Battery capacity: unknown
Our testing: about one day. But again, this is if you do not actively use the device, because when watching YouTube over Wi-Fi, alternately switching to Instagram, the battery drains after 3-5 hours of use.
The iPhone 11 has been improved over last year’s king of the iPhone XR with one hour more battery life. Again, a day and a half can definitely last, but less active users can count on two.
iPhone XS Max
Official score: “Up to 1.5 hours longer than iPhone X” Talk time: up to 25 hours Internet use: up to 13 hours Playback up to 15 hours Audio playback: up to 65 hours Battery capacity: 3.179 milliamps
Our testing: the day keeps charging. Almost like the iPhone 11, but noticeably discharging a little faster.
The iPhone XS Max isn’t a fool either when it comes to longevity. As mentioned, at the end of a typical day, our iPhone XS Max had between 40% and 30% charge remaining. It’s definitely not a 2-day phone, but it’s not the type of device that will make you look for a charger as well (at least on the first day).
Official score: “Up to 1.5 hours longer than iPhone 8 Plus” Talk time: up to 25 hours Internet use: up to 15 hours Playback up to 16 hours Audio playback: up to 65 hours iPhone XR battery capacity: 2.942 milliamps
Our testing: Charging went down quickly, especially if you keep connected to Wi-Fi all day and watch stories on social networks. But, if you turn off the Internet, the charge was enough until the evening.
Before Apple doubled the battery life with the iPhone 11, the iPhone XR was the top choice for those looking for a durable iPhone. In fact, the battery life of the iPhone XR is even better than that of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. devices that are more expensive. It can easily survive a full day on a single charge, and some may not find it even takes a second day before it needs to be charged.
Official score: “up to 2 hours longer than iPhone 6s” Talk time: up to 14 hours Internet use: up to 12 hours Playback up to 13 hours Audio playback: up to 40 hours iPhone 7 battery capacity: 1.960 milliamps
Our Testing: Typically 40% to 60% left at 6:00 PM (depending on how hard you use your phone).
Battery life is dramatically reduced with more active users and will likely need to connect an iPhone 7 for a quick refill at least once during the day. discreet users should get through the whole day without recharging. While it doesn’t offer “fast charging,” the iPhone 7’s relatively low battery capacity means it doesn’t take long to charge anyway.
Which iPhone has the best battery life?
Everyone wants more durable smartphones, so they compare iPhone batteries and choose the best iPhone battery life for themselves. And there is nothing more frustrating than having a device let you down when you need it most.
When it comes to iPhones, it is not always easy to determine which phone has the best battery and which ones hold the battery poorly on the iPhone. Apple tends to be a little cryptic. Their official data is reproduced as comparisons with older devices (“iPhone A” charges an hour more than “iPhone B”) or the amount of iPhone battery life you can spend doing certain activities (16 hours of video). It is a little difficult to interpret.
To be fair, it must be said that battery life is not easy to measure. Many factors will affect how long an iPhone lasts. If you don’t use your phone a lot, it will have a very different rate than someone who doesn’t hang up all day with the same iPhone battery capacity.
We have tested many iPhones over the years. Therefore, we have a pretty good idea of the best iPhone in terms of battery life, and which iPhone holds the charge longer. We also know how they handle what you might consider typical use. a reliable mix of messages, emails, social media, music, video, and more. If you are inclined towards Apple and you need an iPhone with a good battery, then you need to consider these durable smartphones.
Compare battery life of iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone X, iPhone SE 2, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus (Apple data)
In fact, the battery capacity of the iPhone is much lower than that of most competitors, however, Apple developers compensate for the small number of ampere-hours with software optimization and competent module layout. As a result, the latest iPhones in practice last much longer than most Android gadgets with 3500 mAh batteries.
In the chart above, you can see that the iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 12 Pro Max, and the flagship of 2018, the iPhone XS Max, have the highest rated battery capacity. In addition, the current flagship smartphones lead the championship in practical indicators of battery life.
IPhone battery life during video and audio playback, h
iPhone 12 Pro Max. 20 and 80 hours; iPhone 11 Pro Max. 20 and 80 hours; iPhone 11 Pro. 18 and 65 hours; iPhone 12 Pro. 17 and 65 hours; iPhone 12. 17 and 65 hours; iPhone 11. 17 and 65 hours; iPhone XR. 16 and 65 hours; iPhone XS Max. 15 and 65 hours; iPhone XS. 14 and 60 hours; iPhone 8 Plus. 14 and 60 hours; iPhone 7 Plus. 14 and 60 hours; iPhone X. 13 and 60 hours; iPhone 12 mini. 15 and 50 hours; iPhone 7. 13 and 40 hours; iPhone 8. 13 and 40 hours; iPhone SE (2020). 13 and 40 hours.
If we compare the net work time when watching online video and playing online audio, then the evolution of Apple processors and auxiliary modules can be clearly traced. even with a decrease in battery capacity, the autonomy of gadgets increases according to the chronology of their release, thanks to more energy efficient chips.
Which iPhone holds the battery better? Comparison of battery life of all current iPhones in 2021
Apple never mentions battery capacity in product descriptions for marketing reasons. Instead, on the company’s website, you can read how long the iPhone can work in one mode or another and compare the indicators with other models.
The duration of the battery life is one of the most significant technical characteristics of any smartphone, which means that when choosing a gadget, it is important not only to find out the battery capacity of the model you like, but also to compare real indicators.
Again, Apple does not release official battery capacity numbers for its devices, and the numbers below are results from third-party experts (such as iFixit). These data may differ slightly in one direction or another with an acceptable margin of error.
TOP iPhone with the best battery in 2021 (current models)
iPhone 11 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Pro Max
iPhone 11, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12
There is excellent optimization in the eight again. Here the battery is slightly smaller than that of the iPhone 7 (1821 versus 1960 mAh), but this does not prevent the eight from working 1 hour longer for all types of use. At one level, only the music playback time is 40 hours. However, the iPhone 8’s battery supports fast charging, which makes it half full in just 30 minutes. On previous models, this would have taken more than an hour.
This gadget received a 1715 mAh battery, which allows it to work without recharging while listening to music up to 50 hours, 14 hours during calls, 10 hours when surfing the Internet and 11 hours when watching a video.
The old man is almost 5 years old, however, he is in no way inferior to many modern smartphones. This also applies to the battery. The phone has a 1570 mAh battery, which is not that much. However, excellent optimization allows you to surf the Internet for up to 8 hours. Listening to music without connecting to wireless networks will take about 45 hours. Talk time. 10 hours. Performance may vary by 1-2 hours due to various factors: weather conditions, screen brightness and volume.
Despite the fact that the battery of this gadget is smaller than that of the 6S, it lasts much longer. This is due to the smaller screen size. Thus, the user gets a device that can play video for 13 hours, play music for 50 hours, give access to the Internet for 13 hours and allows you to talk without interruption for up to 14 hours.
iPhone 7 Plus
The situation is approximately the same with the enlarged version of the seven. It allows you to play videos, talk and surf for 2 hours longer than the 6S Plus, but you will only get 60 hours of listening to music. The battery capacity of the iPhone 7 Plus. 2900 mAh.
iPhone 8 Plus
Here the picture is identical to the usual version of the device. an increase in operating time by 1-2 hours compared to its predecessor with a smaller battery. Battery capacity. 2675 mAh.
Which iPhone holds the charge better
The duration of the smartphone’s work without recharging is a fundamental parameter that users pay attention to first of all. Although Apple phones don’t have huge battery capacities, thanks to excellent optimization, they keep a charge well almost all day, even under heavy load. When the phone is not touched at all, it lives without recharging up to a crescent. Of course, no one buys an iPhone and checks how long it will last without load, so the main indicator is the battery life.
Which iPhone holds a charge the longest? To find out which is the longest charging phone, there are many factors to consider. The principle does not work here that the larger the capacity, the longer the phone works without recharging. You need to consider the type of display, its size, resolution and much more. So, let’s move on to studying this issue and find out which apple gadget is the best for this indicator. We will only compare popular models to find out how the phone holds a charge for the longest time.
iPhone 6S Plus
The increase in size also required an increase in battery capacity. 2915 mAh. However, they grew unevenly. So, the enlarged six can play music for up to 80 hours, make calls for 24 hours and use wireless networks to surf the Internet for up to 14 hours.
Maxim Klimenchuk, iPhone 5s, Secret
In 3.5 hours, the smartphone managed to discharge itself, although they played Clash Royale on it for an hour, flipped through Instagram for half an hour, spent the same amount on web surfing through Safari, and talked for 28 minutes.
At one point, Maxim spent about 40 minutes in the bad signal zone. The network was searched periodically.
Bottom line: the most problematic was the Clash Royale application, which wasted 38% of the charge. Instagram also left its mark during a low signal background refresh.
Maxim Kurmaev, iPhone 7 Plus, Moscow, Russia
The first thing worth paying attention to is a constant connection to a Wi-Fi network, he did not use mobile Internet during the day of testing.
Of the listed loads, Maxim noted: 3.5 hours on Telegram, 1.5 hours on. 1 hour in. 1 hour on Tweetbot, 1 hour on Apple Music, and half an hour of web surfing in Safari.
His smartphone was discharged in 10 hours of active use.
Bottom line: the main load on the processor came from messengers and social networks. No wonder they use a permanent internet connection.
Roman Yuriev, iPhone 7 Plus, Chernigov, Ukraine
He used his smartphone to a minimum, spending the charge for 15 minutes of games, 10 minutes of talking, 10 minutes in Tweetbot and video recording for 5 minutes.
In fact, this is the best indicator among all the tested models.
As a result, his smartphone was discharged by 45% in 12 hours. There was no particularly heavy load on the gadget, the result is obvious.
Bottom line: Viber, WhatsApp and Messenger “ate” the most charge in the background activity mode.
Artyom Bausov, iPhone 7, Moscow, Russia
First, it took about 2 hours to write the news. After that, I switched to a MacBook and distributed the Internet to it in modem mode.
In parallel with this, I actively corresponded on Telegram, iMessage and Messenger. A total of 40 minutes. Well, I listened to music for 6 hours straight.
My iPhone 7 ran out of battery in 8.5 hours.
Bottom line: there was a heavy load during the activation of the modem mode, then the smartphone was used even more than in normal mode.
What happened to us
The test explores various use cases for clarity. Results surprised.
How long does an iPhone with iOS 11 last for hours. We checked
Last month, experts from Wandera conducted a study comparing the battery life of smartphones and tablets with iOS 11 and iOS 10 on board.
We, too, in the editorial office decided to see how long an iPhone with iOS 11 can live. Testing was carried out on the first version of the operating system on three iPhone 7 Plus, one iPhone 7 and one iPhone 5s.
In general, iOS 11 quite confidently lives on modern gadgets, which cannot be said about oldies like the iPhone 5s.
It seems that the main load on the battery comes from social networks, working both in the background and actively. On average, they consume internet traffic 50% of the time.
And if the Network is lost, then the battery is discharged a little faster (by about 10-15%). Personally, I noticed on my own that such problems in iOS 11 occur much more often than in iOS 10.
The firmware has ceased to adequately maintain the signal level, which led to greater power consumption.
However, the difference is small, but can sometimes be felt. It remains to wait for corrections from Apple. Hopefully this will happen with the release of iOS 11.1.
Nikita Goryainov, iPhone 7 Plus, Voronezh Moscow, Russia
Most of the time was killed by surfing in Google Chrome. 2.5 hours. It took about an hour to communicate in Skype, Messenger and Slack.
The rest is on the little things: using Instagram, and other light programs, as well as mobile photography.
The editor-in-chief’s smartphone was discharged in 7.5 hours.
Bottom line: the greatest load occurred during Internet surfing, as well as during mobile photography.
How long does it take to charge iPhone?
Hello! It would seem that the answer to this question is quite simple and you need to charge the iPhone exactly as long as the charge is full and its indicator stays on near the battery icon. As soon as the battery indicator “turned green” and filled completely. that’s all, you can safely disconnect the charger.
However, there is another side to the issue. For example, some users want to know the exact number of hours and minutes that the iPhone should be on charge. And they have the right to do so. such data is never superfluous. Also, especially often I am asked about how much should be recharged new, just bought iPhone.
In general, I can only explain all this fuss about “charging duration” by the fact that some kind of magic is still hovering around the iPhone. Beginners are afraid of doing something wrong and damaging the device in any way, even when it comes to something as simple as recharging. Looking ahead, I can note that this is almost impossible. But first things first, let’s start!
The first thing to note is that the charging times, even for two identical iPhones, will never be 100% the same. The rate of filling with energy depends on many factors, and here are some of them:
- How much the battery is initially filled.
- Is the original wire used (power supply).
- Where does the power come from (computer or outlet).
- Adapter power. For example, Apple officially allows the use of an iPad unit when charging an iPhone. And of course, in this case everything will go much faster.
- Is the smartphone in airplane mode, connected to Wi-Fi or cellular networks, etc.
So if your friend’s phone charges in 2 hours, and your phone takes 2 hours and 30 minutes, then this in no way means that you have a marriage, and you should run to change it under warranty.
However, there are some average iPhone charging times:
|Adapter included||Power of 5 watts, current of 1 ampere||Power of 18 watts|
|iPhone 4, 4S, 5||1 hour 40 minutes|
|iPhone 5S, 5C||1 hour 50 minutes|
|iPhone 5SE, 6, 6S||2 hours 10 minutes|
|iPhone 6 Plus, 6S Plus||3 hours 30 minutes|
|iPhone 7||2 hours 20 minutes|
|iPhone 7 Plus||3 hours 40 minutes|
|iPhone 8||2 hours 10 minutes|
|iPhone 8 Plus||3 hours 30 minutes|
|iPhone X||3 hours 30 minutes|
|iPhone XS||3 hours 20 minutes|
|iPhone XS Max||3 hours 50 minutes|
|iPhone XR||3 hours 40 minutes|
|iPhone 11||3 hours 50 minutes|
|iPhone 11 Pro||1 hour 45 minutes|
|iPhone 11 Pro Max||2 hours|
|iPhone 12 mini||1 hour 30 minutes|
|iPhone 12||1 hour 45 minutes|
|iPhone 12 Pro||1 hour 45 minutes|
|iPhone 12 Pro Max||2 hours|
A few important notes about this table:
- This means how long charging takes from 0 to 100%.
- Some models were combined into one line due to the fact that their battery capacity differs very slightly, and it makes no sense to verify the time with an accuracy of minutes.
- The data is indicated using a standard (supplied) power supply. Updated! As we know, with the release of the iPhone 12, Apple changed the package contents. there is no more charging. Despite this, for a correct comparison with previous models, the charging time of the iPhone 12 (mini, Pro, Pro Max) will also be calculated taking into account the “standard” Apple 18 Watt adapter.
- All figures are approximate, just for guidance. You can have more or less.
A useful feature! Useful for those who want to charge faster. use airplane mode. In places with an uncertain signal of the cellular network, such an operation will help speed up the process by 20-30%.
- Up to 80% of the iPhone has the so-called fast charging, the next 20% is recruited much slower.
- How long does it take to charge new and newly purchased iPhones? The same as those already used. Without any frills and perversions (like fully charged three times, then discharged to the end, etc.). Modern batteries do not need such calibrations.
- When you reach a full charge, you do not need to run and turn it off in a hurry. Nothing terrible will happen. special controllers are built into the iPhone itself, the power supply and even the wire, which will not allow the smartphone to “oversaturate” with energy and thus deteriorate.
- iPhone can be charged many times. Not even that. Many times! Why? Read personal experience about how, after 2.5 years of use, I checked the battery status of my iPhone and what happened to it.
Conclusion: charge the iPhone as much as it (and most importantly, you!) Needs.
Do not chase accurate indicators and do not complicate your life. use the device for your own pleasure. iPhone should bring joy, and not create additional “troubles” 🙂
Finally, I highly recommend reading this article. It describes several simple (but most useful!) Actions that will greatly extend the life and preserve the battery capacity of your smartphone. I think you should definitely try!
This is the saddest section. My sister has an iPhone XR and for almost a year his condition at the moment shows 97%. This is when it is actively used for 5 hours a day and at least daily recharging. My phone from the window is now only 3 months old and this figure is now at around 98%. This figure disappointed me.
My mode of use
On weekdays, telegram notifications work for me, and this can receive a notification every 15 seconds. In almost 90% of cases, I do not read notifications and do not activate the phone for review, but I think this also affects the charge, since there is a background mode. The phone works in conjunction with the Apple Watch via Bluetooth. Installed one physical SIM card and 1 esim. Of the applications I use on my phone, these are:
That’s it, I practically do not use anything else and for other needs I rarely need a phone. My working tool is watching videos and taking photos and videos. And in fact, these are the most gluttonous resources, I understand that most likely for this reason, only 2.5 hours of active screen per day give me only one confident day of charge with the phone.
Those who read my blog already know that I switched to PRO version 11 from 6s and the autonomy has become more attractive. But of course I still expected more. According to the descriptions and reviews, my phone should have lived for at least 3 days.
But, the miracle did not happen. And with not very active use, in my case it is 1-2 hours of an active screen per day, the phone kept a charge for only 2 days. And it was not always possible to hold out. Yes, for the most part, if you use up the last 20% of the remaining minimum, then you could just hold out 48 hours of phone survivability. But if a little more than 2-3 hours, then the phone is enough for a maximum of 1.5 days. Usually, the next day you get up and the phone has 40-30%, and this is already alarming that at the right moment the charge may not be enough and you still put it on recharging. Below are screenshots of my operation:
Either with the release of new iOS, or with the installation of an additional sim card (eSim) and the TikTok application, the phone now holds much less charge. 30-50% of using the phone is watching a video in TikTok, but the active screen is on average 2-3 hours a day, this should be enough for 2 days, but no, I only need 1 day and the second one is already recharging. With active use of the 5-hour screen (I never use it again), the phone is probably enough for daylight hours, but I usually charge the phone before going to bed and before it I use the phone for an hour or two more watching videos. The next morning I have enough charge until the evening with active use, you can even discharge the phone to the red level, I would certainly like a better result, but it seems to me that the battery has become more quickly consumed.
I’m a little disappointed with reality. In any case and with any use, my phone does not live for more than 2 days. Even with 1 hour of active screen, the 2nd day is hard to hold out without recharging. The state of the battery when recharging at intervals of 1-2 times in two days is not at all happy. On the six, I had this figure for about a year at 100. The phone will be enough from morning to evening, or even late at night, provided that you took it off the charge in the morning, there are no questions about this. But, if you are not an active user, then do not expect impressive autonomy, it will be here at the level of 1.5-2 days.
