Connecting hikvision to the clouds
The iVMS-4200 video surveillance client software is a universal software for working with Hikvision devices. When you start it for the first time, it’s best to turn on the Russian language right away.

The program will warn you that it will change the language only after restarting.
We reload the program. The Control Panel opens.
We enter the Device Management section
To add a device by IP address, click the “Add” button. If the DVR is on the local network, the program will find it automatically and display its characteristics at the bottom of the window. In this case, to connect, you still need to add a password to the connection parameters. Double click on the logger line.

Connecting Hikvision DVR to the clouds
Continuation of the review:
In this article, we provide a description of connecting a Hikvision DVR to a cloud service for remote viewing of video over the Internet. When writing, a video surveillance kit for 4 cameras Worldvision KIT-4x1080P-DOME was used.
The easiest and most modern way to organize online video viewing is to use a free cloud service. In our case, the Ezviz service is used, since it is recommended by the manufacturer of the DVR, and fully interacts with it.
The first step is to make sure that the recorder’s cloud access settings are correct in the menu section Main menu System configuration Network Access platforms. On: must be ticked; Access type: EZVIZ P2P clouds; Server address: dev.Ezviz7.com; Enable encryption stream: unchecked; Confirmation Code: must match the one indicated on the sticker on the bottom of the case. Status: may initially be “off”, but once the registrar is added to the cloud account, the status will change to “On” or “Online”.
Registering an account
Next, you need to connect to the cloud service www.Ezvizlife.com through a browser, and Register. button “Register” in the upper right part of the site.
Registration fields are filled in as follows: User Name: Username. If the selected name is already taken, the service will notify about it. Password: Password. Confirm Password: Confirm password. Country: Select a country from the dropdown list. Email: Email address. Verification Code: Here you need to rewrite the code from the image displayed to the right (captcha). I Agree: Check the box in agreement with the terms of use of the cloud service.
After clicking the “Next” button, a verification code will be sent to the specified email address.
It needs to be entered into the pop-up window.
After that, the service will offer to download and install the plugin required to watch the video. If the page below opens, it means that this browser is not supported by the cloud service, and you need to use Internet Explorer version NOT lower than 8.
We go to www.Ezvizlife.com via Internet Explorer. Click Login and log in.
Now the service will probably offer to download and install the plugin.
Cloud connectivity
When the plugin is installed, the user’s home page opens.
To add our DVR to it, you need to click “ADD NOW”, after which the page for adding a device will open. For the convenience of the user, the cloud service scans the local network, and if the registrar is connected to the same router as the computer, then it will be detected automatically.
It is also possible to find the recorder by the serial number (Add by Serial No. tab), indicated on the bottom of its case.
In addition to the serial number, you will need a verification code (Confirmation Code) of the registrar specified there. This code can also be found in the cloud access settings of the registrar or in the Main menu section System maintenance Device information.
If the confirmation code is entered correctly, a message appears with the name of the device (registrar).
Now on the page for adding devices you can see that 1 DVR is linked to the account. Click “OK”.
Watching videos online
Return to home page.
Video viewing is available from the home page, but it is more convenient to do it from the Gallery tab.
Button “Switch to Single Screen” / “Switch to Multi-screen” can switch between viewing one camera or all cameras. When viewing one camera using timeline navigation, archive viewing is available.
With the configured cloud, users can connect to their DVR from any computer with Internet access. To do this, you need to go to the cloud website using Internet Explorer, log in (enter your username and password) and install the plugin. Access to the recorder through a video surveillance program and a mobile application is described in the following sections of the review.
Working with Hikvision mobile apps
We all have to visit Departure from time to time, but at the same time we want to know how things are at home, in the office, in the child’s kindergarten and not even in the country, with sadness, abandoned until summer.

There are 2 universal applications for mobile smartphones and tablets running iOS and Android that work with both local devices and those connected via the cloud in Hikvision, and both are free and differ only in the interface color:
- Hik-Connect
- Hilookvision (introduced since 2018)
As a result, the Hik-Connect application looks the most promising, because It already has all the functions of second applications, is integrated with the latest online platform announced by Hikvision and, apparently, it will be the main focus of the manufacturer.
Today, P2P cloud users and Hikvision cameras have the ability to take photos, support live voice communications, leave alerts.
- Cameras are used in kindergartens. Parents are given a password to enter the camera, and they can at any time look on the phone screen what their baby is doing during the day. In this case, the parent can take a photo and immediately send it to his family or publish it on a social network.
- The use of cameras in public places such as cafes, bars, gyms or swimming pools has proven to be very convenient. The service makes it possible to see how many people are there during this period and whether it is worth going there at this time.
- In the office, the head of the company has the opportunity to see what is happening in the office whenever he wants. What’s more, it can maintain voice communication with subordinates through the camera without dialing the office phone number. In a small room, the power of the speaker will be quite enough.

Enabling P2P Cloud on Hikvision Devices
Before continuing the description of mobile applications that provide cloud access service, it is worth telling how to make Hikvision devices work with them via P2P Cloud service.
First, you need to activate the Cloud P2P access platform in the device settings. Depending on the device and firmware, this is done in different places:
In new cameras and the recorder, often when activating the access platform, you still need to create a verification code:
Despite the fact that it is written in its composition, it is recommended to use only 6 of any capital Latin letters (for example, ABCDEF) to ensure compatibility with all programs and services.
By the way, for all registrars, the confirmation code was indicated in the access platform before:
This code is required to connect the device to the clouds.
In addition, pay attention to the “Server address” field and set the value depending on the external Internet channel of the provider:
If the connection goes through America, then in the field you need to write: dev.Hik-connect.com or dev.Hicloudcam.com.
If the connection goes through Europe, then in the field you need to write: dev.Eu.Hik-connect.com or dev.Eu.Hicloudcam.com.
Entries like dev.Ezviz7.com and dev.Eu.Ezviz7.com are still supported, but will soon cause errors.
Also, before setting up the service, pay attention to the network settings of your Hikvision device:
Gateway and DNS Must be defined manually or specified by the DHCP server when the DHCP checkbox is enabled.
Also, do not forget to specify the correct time zone and the current date and time.
Now we can proceed to adding to the cloud.
User pre-registration on the cloudy Hikvision service and adding devices
In principle, you can Sign up in the cloud from a mobile device immediately when you first start the application, but sometimes it is more convenient to register a user in advance using a computer.
Registration of a user account in the Hikvision cloud service can be performed using one of two sites:
Both sites are completely equal and the login and password obtained during registration are the same for use in all applications for the cloudy service from Hikvision. Also, all devices subsequently registered under this account will be displayed in all such applications.
Follow the link You will see a window like this:
In the case of the second link, you will have the opportunity to choose Russian.
When you first log in, you need to click on the Register button and register in accordance with the requirements of the site.
Immediately after registration on the same site, you can add all your devices by serial number or by finding them on the network if your computer and cameras are connected to the same local network with Internet access.
On the “System Management” tab, click “Add device”
We recommend adding a device by serial number. For example, any device has a 9-digit number on the stickers, or in SADP the Serial Number field contains:
DS-72xxABXY / SN123456789ABCD123456789ABCD
We enter a block of 9 digits, as shown in the figure:
After entering the serial number, click the Search button. If the device status is Online. then a window will appear as in the screenshot:
Enter the verification code. 6 Latin letters, which are indicated on the stickers as the Verification Code, or you entered it when activating the access platform in the camera or recorder.
If there is no code on the stickers and it was not offered in the access platform, then it is ABCDEF.
After entering the code, press the Add button and see the inscription.
After that, you can go to the “Homepage” tab and select the added device to view and control.

Viewing the archive, which is called “Gallery” here, is possible if the camera has an SD card, or the recording is on the NAS. Even if the camera is connected to the archive display recorder, it will not be if the camera itself is registered to the service. The archive from the registrar is available if the registrar showing the cameras is connected to the service. Gallery display is available for 4 cameras simultaneously.
The settings pages are almost quite simple and intuitive, you can configure additional options on them.
Alarm messages and notifications when motion is detected will also come in the form of push notifications from the application with the indication of the camera, the type of alarm date and time.
When you open the page with messages, you can see a full-screen screenshot during an alarm event, and in cases where video is required, you can watch a short video.

Devices can be added to P2P by scanning the QR code or manually entering the serial number. A special option for adding to P2P is connecting a wireless Wi-Fi device to the network, activating and registering in the cloud in one package. Online devices are connected only within the local domain (directly connected to the local network to which the mobile device is connected via Wi-Fi, and are available only within this network).
If you select online devices, a list of devices available on the network will be displayed.
If the device is activated (“Active” is indicated on the right), you can immediately add it and start viewing it by entering the device username (usually admin) and its password. Otherwise, the device can be activated directly from the mobile by entering your administrator password for it, and then, if necessary, connect to the application. These connections will only be available on the current local network.
The simplest method of connecting to the cloud (that is, so that it is accessible from anywhere on the Internet) using a mobile device is to scan a QR code.
To complete the connection, you must enter the “Verification Code” of the device, the device username (usually admin) and its password.

- Security panel (wireless)
It is also provided for their connection to Wi-Fi and activation, if this is not possible otherwise or this was not done in advance.
If the device has already been connected, but not as it should be or does not function with the settings made, its connection can be reset. When resetting and connecting to Wi-Fi, and activating, if necessary, simply follow the suggested instructions. Upon completion of THESE procedures, you will need to enter some more parameters to complete the device connection using the selected method.
If you enter the application when all of its registrations have already been made and auto-login is enabled, which allows you to bypass the authorization page, you will immediately see this interface after logging in (for example, a page from the HiLookVision application):
From there you can get into the settings of the connected devices:

Or, when viewing a single camera, go to the gallery:
The recording will automatically be shown 30 seconds ago, but you can select a different time. By moving the video track to the right or to the left, you can view the recording in a certain period of time. You can only select the 24 hour viewing period at a time, which is related to preventing cloud server overload.
From the main page, if you select the button “. ”, you can access the additional menu, where you can view pictures and videos (clips) on a mobile device, taken while watching online and recording from cameras.
Sharing device browsing with second accounts. Let me remind you that from another device you cannot log into this account from the same application.
To share, select “Manage sharing settings”, then select “share this device”, Enter the recipient’s email address or phone number and press “” to select the device. In the list of devices that you have that opens, touch the device, marking the necessary cases in green and click “OK”. When you come back and see the selected devices in the lower half of the screen, you can change the usage rights from viewing to more meaningful ones by clicking on the “All permissions” button. If the device is composite, then you can mark only the necessary channels by clicking on the record of the device itself. Finally, click “Save” to start sharing your device with the specified user.
To accept for sharing someone else’s device, select “Manage sharing settings”, then in the column “Other devices” select the desired one. Click “Accept” to accept or reject the device. If accepted, the shared device will already be in the My Devices column and in your account.
You can also change the details of your own account.
Also, from the main page, if you select the “Message” button, you can see alarm messages from devices, if they are configured in “. “/” Function settings “/” Alarm notification “in the application and on the device itself in the corresponding menus. Of course, if the device can send such messages.
In addition to the universality of the application, the excellent interface design is worth noting. Laconic and stylish.
As you can see, the setup turned out to be quite simple, and after digging a little in the functions, you can actively use the Advanced features of this handy application.
Different options for connecting IP cameras
There are many ways to connect an IP camera: recording data to the cloud, sending data to a recorder or remote server, to a built-in SD card, and so on. Within the framework of this article, all methods are considered and their positive and negative aspects are discussed.
Computer connection
Connecting an IP camera to a computer for permanent recording of the received data on it has ceased to be a popular direction for several reasons:
- Large waste of resources. The computer must work 24/7, while the risk of failure of the hard disk or motherboard is guaranteed after a year of use.
- Most models have a built-in SD card that does essentially the same function without using a computer.
Therefore, it is recommended to use rational options for recording, storing and accessing video.
To connect the camera directly to the computer, connect both devices with a patch cord or make Pairing via Wi-Fi network. Login to the web panel via IP 192.168.1.168 (by default for many models), the password and login are the same. admin.
Cloud connectivity
The connection is very simple. The IP camera connects to the Internet via a twisted pair cable or via Wi-Fi (if the device has a Corresponding Module and the Internet connection goes through a Wi-Fi router).
The data from the camera via the Internet will be sent to a special Cloud service, from which the entire recorded archive will be available. It will be possible to interact with archived video remotely by connecting from any device (PC, smartphone, tablet).
Preference for cloud services on an ongoing basis was previously given due to fear of theft or damage to the registrar, the records will not disappear along with the registrar, but remain on the remote server.
In the short term, video surveillance with data transfer to the cloud is more in demand, because it helps to save money on a recorder, which will not be useful in the future.
Pros and cons
The advantage of this connection. no registrar needed.
Minuses. monthly subscription for cloud storage services and high internet bandwidth. If the Internet gets a local network via a 3G / 4G modem. bandwidth Will not be enough and information may NOT be stored on the cloud.
Setting up for free services YANDEX.DISK or Google Drive is impossible due to the lack of support for working with these functions of IP cameras. Recording can only be done on specialized paid servers. Average monthly. Rate for a full month of recording. 1000 rubles for one recording device.
Settings
As an example, you can use the ISON IP20SW-R IP camera with the following characteristics:
- Wi-Fi module;
- SD card slot
- Powerful processor that eliminates picture slowdown and freezing;
- SONY brand matrix for high-quality shooting.
For installation and configuration you will need:
- The IP camera itself;
- Power supply for it (can be purchased separately)
- Fasteners;
- Connection cable (twisted pair)
- Router for interacting with the camera and accessing the Internet.
For stable operation, it is recommended to use routers that do not experience interruptions in the operation of IP cameras. For example, Zyxel Kinetic 3 with firmware NOT later than 2018.
IP camera connection diagram:
- Connect the camera to the mains through the power adapter.
- Patch cord connect the device and the router.
- Connect the router to the WAN cable to access the Internet and start working.
The connection is ready, now you need to link the camera to the cloud service. There are more than 30 different services on the market offering cloud space services for video surveillance systems.
There are ideal ones among them, so there is a balance between stable work, the price for services and a number of requirements for the purchase of their equipment.
How to set up an IP camera:
- Connect to the router (to which the camera is connected with the patch code) from the computer.
- Open the Internet Explorer browser (all cameras are configured through it) and enter the device address in the search bar (for ISON IP20SW-R it is 192.168.1.168).
- Go to the address and on the page that opens, enter the default login and password (admin, admin).
- Got into the menu, go to the “Settings” section. “Network”.
- Click on “Advanced Setup”. Wi-Fi tab.
- Select your Wi-Fi network, enter your username and password, Uncheck the DHCP box and click “Save”.
- Disconnect the IP camera patch cord from the router and go to the video surveillance device page (now via Wi-Fi).
- In the “Video” section, select the H264 codec (the Cloud Service works best with it).
- In a new tab, open the ivideon website (example of a cloud service).
- Click “For Home”. “To plug”. “Regular IP Camera”. “Connect an existing camera”.
- Select the OS that is installed on your PC (for example Windows 10 x64).
- Download, install and open the program. Click Add Device. “Add IP Camera”.
- Apply Appropriate settings (name, IP-address of the camera, login and password for accessing the program, URL.link is requested from the equipment manufacturer).
- In the initial window of the program, click “Run”.
- Click on “Personal Account” and enter the username and password (which you specified in the settings).
- Open the camera, click “Connect”, choose a tariff, pay and use the service.
- Access to the archive will be available through your personal account from a PC program or in an application on a smartphone.
Connect to remote server
This method is suitable for legal companies that have their own server (own or paid), or plans to purchase it.
Pros and cons
The downside is. If you have a server, you need to purchase Licensed Software for it, which will allow you to perceive the stream from cameras to your hard drives.
- Recording and remote viewing of data from the server through any client device.
- Advanced video surveillance functions (for example, automatic face reading according to the principle of the “Safe City” system).
- Reading car numbers (programming the camera to record all passing cars, opening a barrier or gate after reading certain numbers).
For recording to a remote server, only video surveillance devices that support this functionality are suitable. Before purchasing, be sure to check this point with the manufacturer.
Setting up
To interact with your own server, the IP-surveillance camera is configured as follows:
- We implement the connection of an IP camera to a computer via a router.
- Install the VMS program on your computer. On first launch, the program requires creating an account.
- In the program window, click “Add devices”. Add devices manually.
- Write down the IP addresses, username and password (standard admin, admin).
- Done. The device is connected and ready for use. You can watch the video online from a computer or laptop on the network.
- Make the necessary settings for connecting the equipment with the server using “Server Access”.
Setting up archiving to SD card
Recording to an SD card from a video surveillance camera is implemented by means of the device. The configuration can be done manually by connecting it directly to the computer.
Pros and cons
A positive point. it is budget saving. DVR and hard disk together are not needed.
- There are wires between the recorder and the switch.
- Powerful Wi-Fi antenna to maintain a stable signal.
- The camera needs power.
- Limited recording size. Most devices support SD cards up to 128GB.
- SD card recording gadgets are above average.
- If you need to install several cameras at the facility, then using multiple cameras and setting up archiving to SD cards is NOT advisable.
- The SD card is inserted inside under the case, which is accompanied by inconvenience when removing.
Installation under the case cover is implemented to prevent a potentially intruder from gaining access to the video archive. In order not to suffer from withdrawal yourself, it is recommended to purchase devices with the ability to remotely access the archive on an SD card.
Setting up
Since the device does not come with an SD card, you need to install it:
- Remove the protective cover and Unscrew a few screws fixing the filling of the device in the case.
- Install SD card and screw all items back to original condition.
- Connect the camera to your computer via LAN cable and switch to your home Wi-Fi network.
- The “Local settings” section already contains the path where the video will be archived.
- In the “Network” section, select the protocol by which the SD card will be accessed. For example FTP.
- Next, download the FTP client on your computer, enter the IP cameras, port 2121, the login and password you set in this section.
- Done, access granted.
Connecting to a remote recorder
Over time, a technology appeared that allows you to duplicate a recording from a hard disk to another recorder, via the Internet, which allows you to get the same functionality and does not pay subscription fees for cloud storage services.
For such a scheme, you need:
- Connect an IP camera with Internet access at the facility.
- Buy a hard disk recorder, install anywhere and connect to the Internet.
- Link these devices over the internet.
Recorder and camera Must support this functionality.
All settings are performed in dedicated software. It is enough to do the Pairing of devices in the application on a computer or phone, and then change the parameters, configure functions, monitor via supported software remotely.
Pros and cons
Negative side. price for the recorder and the devices connected to it. To connect only one device, this is a dubious decision.
- Many devices can be connected. Depending on the number of connected cameras, a video recorder is selected (for 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 channels). Cameras can be combined by channels, thus realizing a video surveillance system for almost an unlimited number of devices.
- Ease of use due to the management of them simultaneously in one menu (program or application).
- Free software.
- Long archive period.
- Implementation of motion sensors and their interaction with cameras.
Setting up
All IP systems are included according to a similar principle:
- Connect the camera to the twisted pair (connected to the recorder). Power is organized according to the POE scheme (that is, cameras receive power and transmit data through a single patch cord).
- To the DVR Connect the power adapter (included).
- Plug your mouse into the USB port.
- Connect display via HDMI.
- For remote access Connect the router to the DVR via twisted pair (separate connector to the DVR) and provide Internet access.
After installing and turning on the recorder, all control can be organized in the control menu:
- Enter your username and password (by default, the password is 12345 or empty).
- Press RMB to enter the main menu.
- In the “Playback” section, you can watch the recorded video from cameras. There is a good filter by dates, cameras, recording types.
- “File Backup” allows you to back up data to a USB flash drive.
- The “Channel” section allows you to configure and activate the motion sensor for all or specifically selected cameras.
- “System” allows you to adjust the settings of the recorder itself and connected objects.
Connection of the hikvision IP camera to the computer is also done in one of the above ways.
Internet connection to an IP camera can be configured in various ways. Main requirements. the device must support this functionality. The cheapest way in the short term is to bundle a “cloud storage device”. One camera can be realized through remote access to the archive stored on the SD card. It is recommended to connect several cameras with remote and local access using a video recorder or a remote server.
