Intercom Dahua Indoor Station DHI-VTH1550CH

Externally, the Dahua IP intercom is not much different from the analog one. Most of the front panel is taken up by a 7-inch touchscreen. Near the screen there are functional touch keys, which are present rather for convenience, since control is performed through the on-screen menu. For the same reason, there are no switches and controls on the case, since all settings, including the volume control and the choice of a ringtone, are also carried out through the menu. The rear panel contains: RJ-45 connector for network connection; micro SD card slot, no more than 32 GB (not included) power terminals; alarm inputs (6 zones) and alarm output. The intercom must be powered from a DC power supply with a voltage of 10 to 15 V and a consumption of NOT more than 7 watts (0.6 A) during operation and about 1.5 watts in standby mode. Do not include the power supply unit. An alternative way to power the device is via a network cable using PoE technology, but here it should be noted that the IP intercom uses a unique PoE standard, compatible only with the Dahua PoE switch. The power supply of the security sensors and the siren, or the second device connected to the alarm output, is carried out separately. The intercom is mounted on a flat vertical surface. The white case measures 200 x 136 mm and is 22 mm thick.

Dahua IP Camera Setup

Connection

The IP address registered in the factory settings allows you to connect the intercom to the panel immediately after unpacking, without any network settings. Being connected directly by a patch cord, or through a network router / switch, the devices accurately detect each other, although for full operation, it is still recommended to manually configure. Oddly enough, the panel plays the leading role in the tandem of the intercom and the outdoor panel, since only it has a web interface that allows, among other things, to register / change the address of the connected intercom. If the IP address of the panel does not fit your network, then you can change it using the free service program Dahua Config Tool, which determines all Dahua devices connected to the network, and then connect to it by entering its IP addresses in the browser address bar. Another, simpler, method is to enter the doorphone and panel address from the doorphone OSD menu.

When turned on, the intercom starts the built-in operating system for a while, after which it opens the main operating menu. At the first start, the system language is set to English. To switch to Russian, enter the Settings Language menu, enter the password: 888888, and select Russian from the drop-down menu. After that, the intercom will reboot, and henceforth the Russian-language version of the menu will be launched.

The doorphone network settings are located in the Settings menu section Network. The password for accessing the network settings is 888888. The Monitor tab contains the settings necessary for the interaction of several doorphones in the same network. The Room line contains the doorphone number, which should be different from all others. Also, one of the intercoms must be the main one, for this in all the others, click the Main button in this section, and enter the IP address of the main intercom in the Master field.

In the Net Set tab, enter the network parameters of the intercom.

The Panels tab allows you to change the names and IP addresses of the connected panels, as well as activate them. In the Device type field, you can select where the panel is installed: in a building or on a fence. The DH-VTO6100C outdoor panel is NOT intended for installation on a fence, therefore, in its case, this field is blocked.

Connected IP cameras can be viewed through the Cameras tab. Cameras from various manufacturers are supported, including ONVIF protocol.

In the Search tab it is possible to add outdoor panels, delete them, and change their network settings. Added panels are shown in green.

Setup and operation

The doorphone is called from the panel by pressing the call button. If the call is unsuccessful, for example, when the monitor is already involved in the conversation or the cable is broken, the panel will inform the visitor about this. If the subscriber does NOT answer for a long time, the panel will prompt the visitor to press the call button again and leave a message on the answering machine. For the message to be recorded, a micro SD memory card must be installed in the intercom. When the connection is established, the panel reports to the visitor at the beginning of the conversation. A similar message will sound when the panel is called from the monitor or a second device, and the panel will answer the call automatically. During a call (conversation), the intercom automatically switches to the view mode, in which the screen displays from the panel and the OSD appears, allowing you to reject the call (interrupt the conversation), answer the call, open (send a panel signal, activating the relay that controls the electric lock). mute / unmute, mute / unmute the microphone, switch to the camera from the drop-down list, switch to the panel, adjust the volume, enable recording and save the snapshot (only with a micro SD card).

All calls are saved in the log, in the appropriate tab. You can view the call history by entering the main menu / Communication. The section has three subsections, the first of which is. The call is intended to communicate with other intercoms in the network (intercom), including residents of other apartments, if it is an apartment system. However, if there are missed calls, the third subsection Entries will immediately open, containing the call log, divided into three tabs: not received, Received and Dialed. New NOT answered calls are marked with a handset symbol. Calls with recorded messages are marked with a camera symbol.

You can view the message here by clicking on this symbol. You can also view this record in the menu section Search Calls.

In the menu section Search Pictures / you can view the records and pictures taken manually during a call or conversation with the panel. Here are the snapshots, which are automatically saved when called from the panel. To activate automatic saving of images, in the Settings menu, set the Record toggle switch to ON. If there is no micro SD memory card, the toggle switch is NOT displayed. Automatic recording is not carried out, but this will probably be fixed by future firmware.

The menu section / Communication View is used for viewing from connected cameras, the list of which is in the IPC tab, and communication with the outdoor panels, which for convenience are distributed between two tabs: Building and Fence. You can contact the panel by clicking on the name in the appropriate tab. When calling the panel from the intercom, there is no voice communication, but the ability to open the lock and switch between panels and cameras is present. In the photo below, the functions to take a picture and record are also absent, because the memory card is removed from the intercom.

Also in the / Communication section there is a Concierge button. The button is designed to call the concierge.

In order for the intercom system to communicate with the concierge console, you must specify its IP address in the settings of the door station. To do this, go to the web interface, go to the LAN Configuration tab, check the box next to the register in the MGT center, and specify its network address in the line of IP addresses of the MGT center. In order for the concierge to receive calls from the panel, you need to check the Call in VTS PC box.

Any personal computer with installed free SmartPSS software can act as a concierge console. This is a program designed to monitor and record images from Dahua cameras and recorders, in which the developers have added a separate tab for working with intercom systems. At the time of this writing, the version of the program 1.14.0 with intercom support has not yet been translated into Russian, and in the older version the Call panel is defined and works like a regular IP camera.

SmartPSS allows you to view from the door station,

Accept calls from the panel and intercom,

Make calls on the intercom and outdoor panel,

Save pictures from the door station, send a command to open the lock to the panel, send text messages to the intercom, which are viewed on the intercom through the Search Mail menu. Unfortunately, the current version of the intercom firmware DOES NOT display Russian text in messages, so you can use only English characters for the updated one that corrects this defect.

Browse. Broadcast by the door station camera, you can use the web interface, in the Configuration section of the. To do this, you need to use the Internet Explorer browser and install a special plug-in, which is downloaded directly from the panel. Image settings are also made here, and the audio and microphone volume is adjusted in the audio clIP.

Changing the network settings is done in the Configuration section Network configuration. The Configuration tab Device List contains a list of added intercoms, and also allows you to add new ones, and the presence of active connections to the intercom can be viewed through VTH status statistics. The Calls Search section contains a call log.

Adding and removing users to access the door station is available in the User Management Configuration section. In the LAN Configuration tab, you can assign a different panel number to the panel. Functions such as: screen capture, recording a message to an answering machine, recording a conversation on command from an intercom / concierge, are activated in the settings section Configuration local Config conversation Manager.

The outdoor panel has a built-in reader for proximity keys of the Mifare standard, which allows you to open the lock using a card or key fob. To insert a memory card into the panel memory, go to the web interface Configuration local Config AC manager, click Read card, and then bring the card to the panel. After reading the card number, the panel will invite you to assign a username to the card and indicate the apartment number. The apartment number should be a 4-digit intercom number, which is written in it as a room number. Map passes are added to the general discovery log, which can be viewed in Search Unlock Record.

Adding IP cameras is carried out through the main doorphone menu IPCam Settings. Here you need to specify the name of the camera, enter its network address, username and password. The default transmission port is 554. The protocol should be selected local for communication with Dahua cameras, or ONVIF for communication with cameras from other manufacturers. In the Stream field, you can select primary or secondary. The Channel field is used to select the recorder channel, and when connecting a camera, enter 0 here.

The DHI-VTH1550CH IP intercom can be used as an autonomous security alarm. On the back side of the case there are terminals for 6 security zones, to which you can connect wired security sensors, smoke detectors and gas detectors. The sensors are powered separately. The arming / disarming key is located in the lower right corner of the screen, in the main menu. The default password is 123456. The alarm settings can be found in the Alarm section of the menu. In the status tab, the types of sensors are assigned to each of the 6 zones, the type of triggering, the delay. The Recordings tab contains the alarm log. And the Setup tab allows you to organize several methods of partial arming, arming and disarming each zone in different arming modes.

While testing the Dahua IP outdoor panels, we came across one panel that, at the factory settings, was broadcasting broadband to the network. The result was an outage in the Wi-Fi network. To disable this function, you need to connect the door station to the network and set the following command through the browser: http: //VTO_IP/cgi-bin/configManager.Cgi? Action = setConfigMulticast.TS [0] Enable = false. Where VTO_IP is the IP address of the outdoor panel. This error is atypical and extremely rare.

Remote connection to the door station

At factory settings, the call panel provides voice messages in English. To switch to Russian, you need to connect to it via the web interface by entering its address in the browser line (default login: admin, default password: admin) and in the Language column select Russian from the drop-down list. After confirming the changes, the panel will reboot and henceforth the web interface will be in Russian.

One of the main advantages of IP intercom systems. This is communication with the outdoor panel through the Cloud service using mobile devices. To activate this function, just go to the door station settings via the web interface, go to the Configuration section P2P network configuration, and tick the Enable column. The serial number of the panel and the QR code required to connect to the panel are also indicated here.

Next, you need to install the DMSS application on your mobile device and launch it. The application is available for free download and has versions compatible with the following systems:
Windowsmobile
Symbian
Blackberry
IPhone
Android

In the application, select ACS, and go to the list of devices.

Add a new device by clicking on. And choose P2P. The page for adding a new device will appear on the screen. In the Name: field, you can enter the desired device name. SN field: enter the serial number of the panel shown on the back of the case, or read the barcode located there. If the panel is already installed, the serial number or QR code can be seen through the web interface, see the descrIPtion above. The default user is admin. The default password is admin. PUSH notifications: must be enabled. Audio: if enabled, the application will not communicate with the panel. Killed all the settings, you should click Display.

Now, when you press the call button on the outdoor panel, in parallel with the call on the intercom, a PUSH notification will be sent to your mobile device. Please note that the panel primarily connects to the intercom, and, as a result, does not send a notification via the cloud if it could not contact it. You can start a conversation with the door station by pressing the key with the handset. The lock is opened by pressing the lock, and the application shows the presence of 2 locks, and does not depend on whether there is a second lock on this panel model. If there is one lock in the panel, use the lock button No. 1 in the application.

The event log and the archive of images saved on the phone and are available through the menu. Saving and snapshots is available in the Playback window. the keys are denoted by camera and camera images.

Dahua IP intercoms

IP intercoms are multifunctional network equIPment that brings such a simple, but nevertheless functional, technical solution like an intercom to a conceptually new level. A dozen years ago, the possibilities provided by black-and-white pIPe systems seemed to the layman the pinnacle of technical innovations available in everyday life. It would seem that we can look at the visitor, communicate with him, let him in by pressing a key, and all this without even going to the door, what more could you want? The innovations brought by the IP intercom are partially revealed in its name. First of all, this is a connection to the network, including the Internet, which gives a whole list of new possibilities. Let’s consider them in detail using the example of a Dahua intercom system, consisting of a DHI-VTH1550CH monitor and a DH-VTO6100C outdoor panel.

Outdoor panel Dahua Villa Station DH-VTO6100C

IP outdoor panel differs in execution from classic analog panels in white, made of fire-resistant ABS plastic, body and large dimensions. 141 x 100 mm. The thickness of the case is 17 mm, and together with the cut-in part, on which the connectors are located, it is 42 mm. The panel is suitable for outdoor use, and, do not look at the operating temperature specified in the passport from 10 C, it can be installed in our climatic conditions. The first thing that catches your eye when looking at this panel is a large lens, which together with the plastic case raises doubts about the vandal resistance of the device. No matter what, the outdoor panel will take most of the damage without a trace, although it is still recommended to use the DH-VTO2000A model made in metal for installation in hostile areas. Like an intercom, the device must be powered by a 10 to 15 V DC power supply and consume NOT more than 10 watts (0.6 A) during operation and about 1 W in standby mode, or via a network cable using PoE technology, but using only one of Dahua’s PoE switches. The panel is mounted in a hinged way on a flat vertical surface, with a hidden cable lead. The call button has a backlight that signals the call state with a color configuration. The operation of the calling panel is accompanied by voice messages in the language selected during setup, including Russian. A distinctive feature of the DH-VTO6100C outdoor panel is the ability to open the lock using a key. These keys are Mifare standard contactless access cards. The panel has a built-in reader and an access controller with a memory of up to 5000 cards.

Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages
Ability to add new functions with the release of new firmware
Sending push notifications to a mobile device
Remote communication with the outdoor panel: audio. Opening
High image resolution
Connecting a large number of IP cameras
Connecting a large number of monitors and outdoor panels
The ability to expand the system at any time (scalability)
Comprehensive security: compatibility with other systems
Simplified installation using PoE technology
Additional functions

disadvantages
Lack of integration into classic common access multi-apartment systems
Inability to record calls in automatic mode

Unfortunately, with the realized possibility to record pictures into the doorphone memory when calling from the panel, as well as when passing through the access card, the system does not have the ability to record in automatic mode. It can be recorded only at the command of the intercom user or the concierge console, as well as when the visitor leaves messages on the answering machine. Alternatively, it is possible to parallelly connect the door station as an IP camera to a Dahua network recorder (see the picture below), or any other that supports work with IP cameras via ONVIF. Motion detection function by the panel camera Also not implemented.

To replace outdated analog intercom systems, a specially developed solution can be used that allows you to connect the outdoor panel and intercom (up to 4 pieces) by 2-core cable. Signal and power transmission over only 2m wires is possible at a distance of up to 50 meters, and the output to the network is via a converter. All other functions of the IP intercom are retained, the disadvantage, however, remains incompatibility with old analog multi-apartment systems.

Manufacturers of Dahua IP intercoms have NOT bypassed multi-apartment solutions, and they are NOT devoid of technological innovations. It implements intercom communication between all apartments in the building, access to driveway and courtyard IP cameras, optional installation of a control center for a concierge with functions Forwarding calls and text messages to subscriber monitors, and, finally, compatibility of the system with SIP servers for transferring a call to a mobile device, SIP phone or personal computer anywhere in the world.

One of the drawbacks attributed to network intercoms is their high price, which is NOT surprising given their rich functionality. On sale you can find expensive professional devices, for example basIP, as well as their opposite: Numerous cheap Chinese devices, the technical performance and reliability of which leaves much to be desired, not to mention the untranslated software that they are equIPped with. Solutions from manufacturers such as Hikvision and Dahua are an acceptable Alternative, since with high quality they have comparable to analog intercoms.
