Manual mode
First, the surveillance system must be connected to a switch. standard or PoE. The registrar and the network camera are connected there, but first you will need to configure them in such a way that the identifiers match. After that, in the settings, the acquired Camera manager, Camera, IP camera. Add to. After that, a menu will appear, where at the top there will be a list of devices, and below there are various characteristics. To connect, you need to enter the current surveillance characteristics:
- Protocol;
- Network address;
- Port number.
If necessary, you can add another recorder if you want to Fix its value. To add, you must click the Add button. When connecting multi-channel devices, a menu opens where you can select a specific channel. If the connection was successful, then a blue icon will light up in front of the connected cameras.
We connect via the Internet
It is necessary to open the recorder using a computer by calling the context menu. In order to open the device control mode, you need to click on Add IP-camera. In the lower part all existing and existing cameras appear, which are marked in yellow. After that, you need to click One-Touch Adding, which will allow you to add a specific camera. If the passwords for the DVR and the camera are different, then they must be made the same after adding devices. If the cIPhers do not match, in the DVR menu such a camera will be marked with a yellow triangle.
Plug-and-Play connection
In this case, network cameras are connected to the DVR using an 8-wire twisted pair. After that in the section Camera manager you need to select a section Camera. IP camera, then select channel D2 and click on Edit. There, among the many options, you will find a Plug-and-Play connection that you need to select and save the changes.
If you add a NOT active network camera, you need to find it in the list of the registrar and select the method One-touch activation. The device will receive the registrar password in automatic mode and the same server, which must be entered by the time of connection.
How to add IP camera to Dahua DVR ?
Network IP Cameras are the most convenient and easiest way to create a home surveillance network. But for the normal functioning of the system, it is necessary to add each camera to the recorder. To ensure the joint operation of the recorder and the network camera, it is necessary to configure the Internet connection. First of all, you need to connect the recorder to the network, which you can do yourself. The connection system itself can be carried out in several ways:
- By entering characteristics manually;
- From the list of devices that are displayed on the Internet;
- By activation;
- Plug-and-Play.
But before installing, it is recommended to install the update for the firmware. In this way, the surveillance system can last much longer. It should be taken into account that if the connection is carried out with the introduction of the PoE interface, then it must be borne in mind that the recorder of a similar plan works in two networks: for ports and for the interface. The networks themselves cannot intersect with each other, otherwise the connection will NOT be successful. The camera must be pre-configured. it must be connected to a router and a PC, while the recorder must be connected to the Internet. The connection process needs to be carried out in several stages:
- Connecting the recorder to a modem
- Configuring camera settings on the PC screen;
- Entering the data of each device.
Suspension from what type of recorder is used, power and performance, up to 20 cameras can be connected to it.
What is important to remember?
When connecting, it should be borne in mind that the camera and the recorder must necessarily be combined with each other into a system with a router or switch, or have their own network address, be connected and function normally. It should be borne in mind that the names of menu items and settings may differ in cameras of different brands, but the same princIPle is used for the same equIPment. When you bought a recorder, you need to assign it a network address by changing the factory one. Then when you enter the Set IP through a standard browser, you will be prompted to download the setting.
How to connect almost any IP camera to the Tantos NVR
Connecting IP cameras from well-known manufacturers to the Tantos NVR is usually straightforward.
Example of instructions for connecting IP cameras Hikvision with new firmware versions can be downloaded here, with previous firmware versions. here. Example of instructions for connecting IP cameras Dahua can download here. Connecting IP cameras of second well-known manufacturers also in most cases does NOT cause problems. it is enough to find cameras using a registrar using the ONVIF protocol and enter the camera’s login and password.
Problems may arise when connecting IP cameras from little-known Chinese manufacturers. But usually, having spent some effort, it is possible to connect almost any IP camera to the recorder.
To connect to the NVR, you need to find out the IP address of the camera, its login and password (it is found out by brute-force the most common combinations of login and password), ONVIF and RTSP ports, the ability to connect via ONVIF, as well as the RTSP request terms for the first and second stream if DOES NOT connect via ONVIF.
If the registrar finds an IP camera while searching, that’s half the battle.
But what if the IP address of the camera is unknown and the camera is not found through the search for the registrar? The easiest way to find a utility for finding devices is on the manufacturer’s website (if the manufacturer’s website exists at all). If there is such a utility, you will have to go the second way.
Install free software to work with IP cameras over ONVIF. ONVIF Device Manager. It can be downloaded here or here.
After starting ONVIF Device Manager tries to find devices on the network using ONVIF protocol.
If an IP camera is found, great.
If not, you will have to try another way.
Download and install Avigilon Camera Installation Tool. Despite its name, this software perfectly searches the network for IP cameras of any manufacturer. You can download it here.
After it was possible to determine the ONVIF port of the camera, it can be connected to the software ONVIF Device Manager.
If it appears. Broadcast by the camera is great, so the camera will most likely connect to the recorder.
If the camera does not send via ONVIF, you can try to Receive from it via RTSP. The RTSP request period can be found in the documentation for the camera (you need to find out the request period for the main stream and for substreams) or using ONVIF Device Manager.
When connecting via RTSP, the query string is entered into the recorder NOT in the most obvious way.
Let’s say the RTSP query string is:
Rtsp: //192.168.99.100: 8554 / profile0 for main thread
Rtsp: //192.168.99.100: 8554 / profile1 for substreams.
Is selected protocol. RTSP
Separately entered IP addresses, RTSP port (usually. 554, in our example. 8554), login, password.
For the main stream, a string is entered, which in the rtsp request is immediately after rtsp: //192.168.99.100: 8554 /, i.e. In our example, profile0 is entered.
For substreams, a string is entered, which in the rtsp request is immediately after rtsp: //192.168.99.100: 8554 /, i.e. In our example, profile1 is entered.

Connecting the IP camera to the recorder and computer
Today we will connect the IP surveillance camera to the recorder and computer. I will say right away that there is nothing complicated in this, the main thing is to understand the basic princIPles, Realizing which you can connect any IP camera.
Follow our instructions, Outlined below and you will definitely succeed.
- Understanding IP Cameras. Step 1
- Twisted pair compression for connecting an IP camera. Step 2
- WEB interface of the IP camera (change the IP address). Step 3
- We go to the camera through IE
- IP camera connection via WI-FI router.
- Connecting IP cameras to the recorder
Understanding IP Cameras. Step 1
The main difference between an IP camera (also called a network camera) from an analog one is the ability to work within a local network. All components particIPating in the work of a local network have an IP address, for example: various network printers, routers, computers, an IP camera is no exception.
It is important to understand that more than one device on the network cannot have the same IP addresses, otherwise there will be a conflict of IP addresses, one device will knock out another.
When buying an IP camera, we receive a device to which the manufacturer assigned IP addresses, for example: 192.168.1.120. Let’s imagine that we bought 4 identical cameras, so the first thing we need to do is make their IP addresses different, but the subnet must remain unchanged.
Let’s call the first three values of the IP address a subnet: 192.168.1. the subnet allows the device to be in the same local network. 192.168.1._. the last digit, any arbitrary value in the range from 0 to 254.
Our four cameras can have the following arbitrary addresses:
- 192.168.1.120
- 192.168.1.121
- 192.168.1.122
- 192.168.1.123
We go to the camera through IE
In order to get into the web interface of the camera, you must use the Internet Explorer browser, since only it allows you to install various plugins and settings.
Open IE, enter the IP addresses of our camera in the search bar.
As soon as the web interface is loaded, the browser will offer to download the scrIPt (a plug-in that will allow you to work with the camera interface). If the browser does not offer to download the file, then you must enable ActiveX in all terms where this combination is mentioned.
Close the browser, Install the plugin. We open the browser again, go to the IP addresses of the camera. We see that the admin panel has become active. We enter the login and password of the camera, it is indicated in the device passport. input.
The interface of IP cameras may differ, in this camera in the Devices tab → The network address can be changed, yours can be different, but I think this will not cause difficulties. We drive in a new address, click OK, the device reboots and is already ready to work with a new IP.
WEB interface of the IP camera (change the IP address). Step 3
The IP address of the camera is the path to its filling (web interface). Using the web interface, you can make various changes in the operation of the camera, including changing its IP addresses.
The following manIPulations are aimed at making the network card of your computer see the IP camera connected to it.
Connect the IP camera to the network card of the computer, if the cable is crimped correctly, and the camera is connected to a 12 volt power source, then an unidentified network will appear in the network connection.
Go to the Control Panel → Network and Internet → Network connections
Right click on the shortcut “LAN connection”. Properties. Opens “Internet Protocol version 4”.
Immediately put a point on “Use the following IP.Address. We remind you that the subnet (the first three values must match the IP address of the camera, the last digit is arbitrary. The subnet mask is set automatically. The main gateway must also match the three values of the IP-address. “Confirm parameters on exit” and click OK. Network configured!
IP camera connection via WI-FI router.
Connecting an IP camera to a router, with its subsequent configuration, is NOT different, but it is important to understand that the subnet of the router may differ from the subnet of the IP camera, for example: the IP addresses of the router are 192.168.0.1, and the camera is 192.168.1.1
In this case, you can change the IP addresses of the router to 192.168.1.1 or create a local connection described above and change the camera subnets to 192.168.0.
Diagram of connecting an IP camera to a router
If you do NOT plan to use a recorder, but you want to view and control cameras using a computer, then the best program option is CMS.
Twisted pair compression for connecting an IP camera. Step 2
Before moving on to changing the IP address of the camera using a computer, we need to crimp the twisted pair cable under the RJ 45 connector, for this we do not need: Crimping pliers, a piece of cable, two connectors.
For an 8-core cable (4 pairs), the compression scheme is as follows.
For 4-core (2 pairs).
If you have a crimping plier, DO NOT worry, you can do this with a regular screwdriver. Look. To find out how.
Connecting IP cameras to the recorder
We have learned how to assign an IP address to cameras, it remains to connect them to the registrar. The registrar has only one network port, which means that to connect several cameras, we need a switch or router.
We go to the recorder menu “Net”, by indicating to it the IP addresses that match the subnet of our cameras, the gateway must also match the subnet IP address of the registrar, keeping the settings.
Further, everything is purely individual, in all the registrar there is an IP channel installer, which searches for devices within the network that meet the requirements of the network. It is necessary to assign each channel. an IP camera and you can enjoy watching.
Connecting the IP camera to the recorder
If you do not remember your password, then enter your email and you will receive a login link. After authorization, enter your new password in the profile settings.
Let’s analyze the connection of the IP camera to the recorder step by step using our equIPment as an example. The process is pretty straightforward, especially if you follow the setup instructions. The presence of several surveillance zones implies the installation of various types of surveillance cameras. If the protected object has only IP cameras, then in order to save money, it is better to purchase an IP recorder. If you plan to use different cameras, then you should know how to connect an IP camera to a hybrid recorder. First, you need to configure the recorder to work over the network, then the cameras themselves.
It makes no sense to consider connecting an IP camera to an analog recorder, since these devices as such have already gone out of use due to low performance. They are being replaced by hybrid models designed to connect different types of cameras. As a result, we get all the observation areas on one screen.
If you first need to prepare the cable, then look here. Further Based on the fact that the installation is finished.
How to connect devices by IP address
First of all, by pressing the right mouse button connected to the recorder, calling the context menu, in which we select the item Main menu after which it enters the main menu of the recorder.
Select item Net:
We need to change the IP address of the device. Let me explain why: the fact is that all multi-hybrid recorders have the default addresses 192.168.1.10 and the IP camera has exactly the same address by default, a conflict is possible. Go to the menu item net and change this address to say 192.168.1.9 or any other free in the first subnet (the penultimate value in the IP address, immediately before the last dot), done.
Then we return to the main menu and select the menu item digital and in it Digital Channels, after which it enters the digital channel parameters menu.
In the window channel select the number of the channel to which we will bind the camera, activate it by setting the kryzhik in the appropriate menu item and select the menu item add.
Feel free to press the button Search and, after a short time, we admire the result of our labor in the form of a deadline with the found device.
Go ahead, double-click on the line with the found device, after which its address and port should be rewritten to the top of the table, replacing the default value. The address 192.168.1.20, since the password on the camera is not set by default, we leave all other values as they are.
Connecting multIPle IP cameras to the DVR
Each camera and DVR should have a different IP address, but the subnet (the first two triads of values) is the same. If you have purchased several cameras, then the connection to the recorder is carried out through a switch or router.
If it becomes necessary to change the IP address of the camera, press the button net opposite the address by adding a device and enter your data. This is convenient, for example, when we have several freshly installed cameras with the same address, so we use it if necessary without hesitation.
The only thing, after changing the device address, you need to re-name the new device address twice with the right mouse button in the window of found devices and make sure that the new data was written to the top of the table.
We will assume that the addresses have been changed if necessary and the device has been added. Push the button OK after which it goes to the previous menu, where the added device already appears. Repeat the above procedure for the next channel, if there are several cameras, or press OK if one. After that, the image should appear in the channels to which we added the camera.
Connecting the IP camera to the recorder via a router
Perhaps the most common scheme for connecting IP cameras to a recorder is through a router, so let’s consider it. You connect the cameras and network recorder using patch cords to the router, supply power to the equIPment, according to the declared characteristics. To view the picture, you also connect a monitor or TV to the recorder. In the case of organizing viewing using a computer or laptop, your device must also be connected to the router via a patch cord or Wi-Fi, if your router has the function of distributing a Wi-Fi signal.
Next, you should log into the registrar, by default login: admin, the password field is empty. Initially, IP cameras and IP recorders have the same IP address: 192.168.1.10, respectively, in order to avoid a conflict of IP addresses, first you need to change the IP addresses to the recorder. If the router supports the DHCP function. automatic distribution of network connection settings to equIPment, then in the registrar section Net turn on this function.
Your router will automatically distribute a free IP address, the same subnet in which the router is located, or in the router settings you can specify in which subnet the distribution will be carried out. Now you can add IP cameras, preferably also 1 piece at a time, to avoid IP address conflicts. Go to Digital channels (the menu item may differ depending on the firmware).
Add cameras, click Search. The registrar will find your IP cameras even from other subnets.
On this topic, I propose to finish with the registrar (we will consider the rest of the settings in the near future) and go to a personal computer if you need to connect an IP camera without a registrar directly to a PC (to a network card or through a switch).
How to supply power to IP surveillance cameras
Most modern IP surveillance cameras support two power standards, namely:
Stabilized voltage (12 V DC ± 10%) Power supply can be used
Note! Power supply not included.

Connecting and configuring Hikvision IP cameras to the Hik-connect cloud service
Hik-Connect is a free P2P cloud service for watching internet surveillance.
The application allows you to remotely connect to your IP cameras IP-intercom and Hikvision registrar.
Unlike the ezviz service, where you can only connect to devices using P2P technology (when the Cloud service connects the camera and the phone via the Internet), in the Hik-Connect application you can also connect to the Hikvision device via the Internet directly using a static address, and there is also the functionality of connecting to Hikvision devices locally (i.e., being in the same local network with your router, for example at home, where both cameras and the phone are connected to the same router, you can instantly directly view from cameras by accessing the device by its IP address, at the same time, both in the secondary and in the main stream!)
Thus, the Hik-connect application combines the functionality of two services from Hikvision, namely ezviz and ivms-4500
How to reset password from Hikvision IP cameras
Power off the camera. Press and hold the RESET button. Power up the camera. Release the button after 20 seconds. Reset done.
Or in the web interface of the camera in the settings menu. Maintenance tab. Click by default. The camera will be reset to factory settings.
To configure the basic parameters of the Hikvision DS-2CD2043G0-I IP camera via the web interface of the IE browser
Hikvision IP Cameras Activation
All HIKVISION devices with the latest firmware (IPC version V5.3.0, DVR / NVR version V3. 3.0) no longer use the default password. When using THESE devices for the first time, the user needs to activate the device by forcing a password.
This can be done in 4 ways:
As the easiest and most reliable way to activate the camera, I advise you to use the SADP program, you can download it here.
If you connected everything correctly, then the program will display a list of all Hikvision devices
Select the device you want to activate in the ” Online devices ” list;
– Set a new password in the ” Device Activation ” field;
– Confirm new password;
– Click on the [OK] button to activate the device.

At the same time, in this utility you can set / change the appropriate IP addresses for your network, gateway, subnet mask

The following materials were used to mount the cameras:
Connecting an IP camera to a computer
By connecting the IP camera to the PC directly through the network card and entering its default IP addresses in the address bar of the browser, we will NOT receive images or access to the WEB interface. The fact is that both devices are in different address ranges.
You must first (temporarily) change the IP address of the computer in order to get into the internal program of the camera (How to do this is described above).
We find an IP camera using a regular browser or a special program. For example, at Hikvision it is the SADP program, which is downloaded from the company’s official website. It is more convenient to work with the program if there are several IP cameras of the same GoPro manufacturer in the network.
Cameras can also be connected via a switch (switch). In this case, the maximum number of IP cameras is limited only by the bandwidth of the cable coming from the switch to the PC. Depending on whether the camera is connected through a switch, directly or through a switch, the use of various cables is required:
Direct patch cord.
Serves for connection of different types of MDI devices. MDIX: switch computer; computer. router, etc.
Designed for connecting devices of the same type (PC-PC, switch-switch)
IP camera connection
Manufacturers of modern electronic devices have long made IP surveillance cameras available to the average user. However, the lack of knowledge about connection methods often confuses novice network surveillance system installers.
Below is information about the main ways to connect an IP camera to various devices:
- Router;
- Registrar;
- Computer.
First, about the basic methods of signal transmission.
Wireless way.
There are two main options here.
1.Connecting the IP camera via Wi-Fi connection.
It doesn’t matter if the camera has a built-in Wi-Fi module or is it connected to a Wi-Fi router. It is recommended that the first launch of the IP camera is made with a direct connection to a PC from which the username and password of the wireless network are entered into the software shell of the device.
In addition, the IP addresses of the camera are changed (in most cases, the default is 192.168.1.1). IP addresses can be changed to static white, received for an additional payment from the provider, or assign an identifier to the DDNS device and in the future contact it through the free DDNS service. After preliminary adjustment, it is turned off, installed in its original place and restarted.
The camera’s Wi-Fi is connected to the network. a new device appears that can be connected remotely, knowing the username and password.
2. Connection of GSM or 3G camera.
In most cases, we are talking about devices with a built-in GSM module. Setting them up is much easier, because the SIM card already has its own unique address. But the client software must be installed on the reader. In addition, when calculating operating costs, you should remember about the subscrIPtion fee for using the number and the Internet for the mobile operator.
Wired data transmission.
The classic method of transmitting images from an IP camera is via UPT cable of the fifth category (twisted pair). However, it has one significant drawback, the signal transmission distance exceeds 100 m.For longer distances, additional switches should be used.
There are hybrid devices that can work with both twisted pair and coaxial wire. They are capable of transmitting a signal at a speed of 100 Mbps. At a distance of 600 m to 1.5 km. For example, active amplifiers of the CooperLin series from the manufacturer ComNet.
LAN Power Systrms releases the VP-7000 (VIPER) series of devices, which are capable of transmitting not only a signal, but also power and control commands over twisted pair cables over a distance of 1.4 km. In addition, the VIPER series amplifiers and converters are passive and do NOT need an extended mains connection.
Their popularity is due to the large number of analog networks that are currently in use. For example, the transmitters of the AVT-EOC950 or ST-VBT20 model are capable of transmitting images without loss of quality over a distance of up to 400 m. By coaxial at a speed of up to 30 Mbps.
And a pair of ST-VBT2 / ST-VBR2 models can increase the transmission distance up to 2 km. For passive devices with the same princIPle of operation, the transmission range is significantly shorter, it is 90 m at a signal transmission rate of up to 10 Mbit / s. For example, model B-204 from Channel Vision.
The most expensive way to transfer images is through optical fiber. However, this is the only way to transmit a signal without loss of quality over a distance of tens of kilometers.
To connect the fiber optic GoPro to IP surveillance cameras, you can use the Sigura ECO-plug signal converter from Sigura B.V. It transmits images up to a distance of 20 km.
POWER SUPPLY FOR IP CAMERAS
There are two ways to connect power for IP surveillance cameras:
1. Laying a separate power supply line from an external power source.
Depending on where the surveillance camera is located outdoors or indoors, it can consume different amounts of electricity. To provide outdoor cameras, a cable with the parameters of a standard household power supply 220V 50 Hz is often used.
Inside the thermo-housing, the adapter distributes the incoming energy for power supply:
- Heating and air conditioning elements;
- Sources of infrared lighting;
- Power drives PTZ system;
- The IP camera itself.
In this case, it is recommended to use the ParLan combi U / UTP4 Cat5e combo LAN cable. It represents a single cable, under the protective sheath of which there are twisted pair in separate foil protection and two power wires.
2. The power transmission of the IP camera is carried out via twisted pair simultaneously with the signal.
For this, both the camera and the router must support PoE technology. The only drawback of this technology is the limitation of the power transmission range to 100 m.To solve this problem, several additional devices can be used:
Swarm repeaters. passive devices that extend the Ethernet network segment by transmitting data and power according to the IEEE 802.3af PoE standard in excess of the limited 100 m. Transmission can be carried out via UTP CAT5e / 6 Ethernet cable. Range of additional amplification 100 m.
Several devices can be connected in a single circuit, which do NOT require connection to the power supply line. In addition, the NIS-3200-102PR model has two rj 45 outputs, which allows powering 2 devices at remote monitoring sites.
VDSL2 converters. can provide the transmission of power supply over a distance of up to 1.5 km. For example, the VDSL2 qBRIDGE-307m model is capable of providing PoE power supply for a distance of up to 300 m for a standard UPT cable and up to 1.7 km for a cable with a conductor cross-section of 0.5 mm.
Roe Extender. devices supporting this technology are able to provide power to the IP surveillance camera, power supply to the elements of the thermo-housing, the operation of IR illumination at night at a distance of up to 500 m.
Connecting an IP camera via a router
When connecting one or more IP cameras to the router, you must sequentially perform the following steps:
1. The camera is connected to the computer.
2. Login to the internal WEB interface of the IP camera. This can be done by entering the IP addresses of the device in the address bar of any browser. The camera address can be indicated either on the package or in the device passport.
First, you need to configure the PC subnet in accordance with the IP address of the camera, Carrying out the following steps:
- We enter “Network Control Center” “LAN connection” bookmark “properties” line “TCP / IP v4”.
- Enter the static IP address of the PC so that the first two digits match the IP address of the camera.
- We launch any browser and enter the camera addresses in the address field. We change the IP address of all cameras that will be present in the surveillance system. For example, we take the address of the communicator, changing the last digit, we write in the line of the IP camera.
- Save the parameters, disconnect the camera from the PC and connect the device to the LAN port of the router.
3. Configuring the communicator.
Different manufacturers make different settings menus, so you need to study them and find the menu item “Port forwarding”. In the WAN menu item to the tab Virtual server in the list of virtual servers, enter the names and unique static IP addresses of cameras.
If the communicator has a static IP address, then you can connect to the first camera by typing http: // (IP address) 🙁 port number) in the address bar. But more often than not, GoProvider provides the user with a dynamic address. Therefore, you need to register with the DDNS server. We register as many unique names as there are IP cameras.
You also need to do port forwarding on the router. This is done as follows. We enter the WEB interface of the switch, find the tab Additional settings WAN submenu. Go to the DDNS tab. We put the switch on Enable DDNS Client. And indicate the address of the server from which we will receive services (where we registered). This can be the server of the router manufacturer’s company or an outside free resource.
Retaining modified characteristics. By going to the address registered in the DDNS service, we get access to the image of the camera that has been assigned this unique name (it is assigned to the tab Virtual server).
The advantages of this method of connection is the ability to remotely view information from any device that has Internet access, even without specialized GoPro software. The number of connected devices is limited not only by the number of ports, but also by the bandwidth of the router itself and / or the channel width, which is provided by the provider.
This limitation can be circumvented by artificially reducing the maximum resolution of cameras and the number of frames per second to a level where the total information flow from all devices will NOT be approximately 80% of the switch’s bandwidth.
Connecting IP Camera To DVR
Unlike analog cameras, which immediately after connecting to the DVR begin to give a picture, IP cameras need preliminary configuration. Especially when it comes to connecting to a hybrid registrar. The process of adjusting the parameters of IP cameras is carried out in several stages:
Connecting an IP camera to a PC. directly or through a router.
Change the IP address of the camera to one in which the first 3 digits match the corresponding data of the registrar. The fourth number can be anything, including the same addresses that are already occupied by the second equIPment, since this network practically does NOT intersect with the office.
The settings indicate not only the IP addresses of the camera, but also the used data transfer protocol. (Should be similar to that used in the registrar). Most models require a username and password to authenticate on the network.

Connecting IP cameras to Dahua DVR using ONVIF protocol
What opportunities does ONVIF connection open?
- Discovers devices.
- Transmits data from the camera.
- Receives and transmits data in audio format.
- PTZ camera control.
- Analytics. For example, when the motion sensor is working.
This parameter directly depends on the compatibility of the ONVIF protocol. There are situations when some functions remain unavailable or work incorrectly. If you connect second brand cameras to Dahua DVR. You need to find the ONVIF protocol, which is located on the RemoteDevice tab in the Manufacturer line. You just need to select the channel to which the devices will connect. In the tab, you need to select the desired protocol and specify:
- The IP address of the installed device;
- The RTSP port can remain the default;
- Device name and password;
- Remotechannel sets by default, or the channel number is indicated if the device has several;
- Decoderbuffer. stream buffering with time value.
Next, you will need to select the type of server: TCP, UDP, Schedule. The first option establishes a connection between the sender and recIPients. Make sure that all data is transmitted to the addressee without changes and in the required sequence. The baud rate is also adjustable.
Unlike the first option, the UDP server will pre-connect but start transmitting data instead. The second option is less reliable, but guarantees a more stable operation, since K. There is a retransmission of lost packets. Schedule is the automatic server detection.
When the connection is complete, a list of connected devices will be presented there. If the status is green, then the recorder and the camera are working successfully, and if it is red, there are certain connection problems. For example, the port was not set correctly.
Connecting IP Camera to Dahua DVR
Quite often, the owners of large enterprises, industrial centers and other organizations are faced with the need to expand the surveillance system. But having a registrar of one brand, they buy IP cameras from another company, which causes certain difficulties in installation. Let’s figure out how to connect IP cameras to Dahua DVR. There are two main connection methods. ONVIF and RTSP.
Connecting IP cameras to Dahua DVR via RTSP
Consider a second connection method with real-time streaming protocol, in which commands for controlling streams are recorded. With the help of such commands, the stream is broadcast from sources to the recIPient, for example, from IP cameras to a recorder or servers. Such a protocol opens up the following possibilities for the user:
- Data transmission in.format;
- Reception and transmission of data in audio format.
The key advantage of this option is that there is no need to define version compatibility. Today RTSP is supported by virtually every IP camera or DVR. But along with this, you will NOT be able to do anything other than transmit audio and data.
Similarly, you can find the protocol in the section RemoteDevice will go to the Manufacturer line. In Dahua Registrar, it is provided as General. You need to select the channel to which the device will connect. In the form that appears, you will need to enter:
- URL Addr. It is necessary to enter the request period for which the camera sends the main RTSP stream with high resolution;
- Extra URL. here you need to enter the request term, according to which the camera gives additional streams with low resolution.
An additional stream is needed in order to save resources when viewing on a local monitor connected to the recorder. For example, if the pictures are too small for 16 windows, then it is not at all necessary to make a high resolution, but the D1 mode is enough. If you have a few windows open then it is decorated in high resolution. Next, you will need to enter:
- Name and password specified in the device parameters;
- Stream buffering level at specified intervals;
- Server type. the same as in ONVIF protocol.
In general, the connection process can hardly be called simple and various difficulties may arise during installation. If you have any difficulties during connection, you can always count on the support of a qualified manager-consultant. He is guaranteed to help you not only connect cameras to the recorder, but advise on all issues of interest.
Connecting one or more IP cameras to the recorder

- On this topic
The advantage of many IP cameras is that they can operate on a local area network provided by a router or computer. Through them, surveillance devices go online, and access to them can be obtained by IP address. Still, when there are many surveillance devices available, it is easier to tie them into a single device that performs management functions. The article describes how to connect an IP camera to the registrar.
basic information
For connection, it is recommended to take recorders for IP cameras or combined (hybrid). Usually, they are in a standard case, having a number of connection interfaces on one side.
It makes no sense to overpay for many channels if there are less than 16 connected devices.
For convenience of monitoring and setting Connect a monitor to the recorder. Also connect the LAN cable of the DVR and the switch.
The output of each tracker is configured separately. The IP address and login with a password to access the camera are usually indicated in the passport or operating instructions.
Remote access connection
To be able to open the broadcast from the IP camera remotely, through a browser or a special application, you need to add a router that has Internet access to the existing scheme.
- Connect the router to the recorder with a patch cord.
- If there are enough ports in the router, create a Pairing with all cameras.
- If available, pair all or some of the cameras with a regular L2 switch.
- I will connect the switch with a patch cord to the router.
- Then configure the cameras as indicated in the second section of the article.
Next, you need to assign a static IP address to each device on the network. This is necessary so that after rebooting the router does not change the IP addresses of the registrar. If this happens, remote access will stop working. For settings:
- From a PC connected to the router, open a browser and enter the IP address on which it is located in the address bar. Usually it is 192.168.0.1 or 1.1 at the end. Default password and profile name “admin”.
- Go to the DHCP section. Here you can disable the DHCP server and set an IP address for each paired device. You will have to expose in their web interface, connect each IP-camera to the computer. In the registrar, you will also have to change the IP address, which should match the first three numbers with the router, and the last one should be different. For example, 192.168.0.10. Only after that, the router will see the registrar.
- Or go to the section Address reservation. The option allows reserving IP addresses with the assigned MAC address even after a reboot. The MAC address of the DVR can be found in its parameters. 1
- Go to the section Safety and select remote control.
- Write down the port where the registrar will be located (for example, 8090) and the IP addresses of remote control to which forwarding will go (for example, 201.19.23.167).
- To open the recorder from any device in a browser or through a program that works via the http protocol, enter the specified IP in the address bar along with the port in the format http://201.19.23.167:8090.
- Enter your login and password for access. If a standard password is used, it is recommended to change it to ensure adequate security.
There is one nuance due to which it is impossible to go to the specified url during the access check. The fact is that you cannot enter the remote access settings from a computer that is located in the same local network. Technically, this is justified by the fact that the request is generated from the same address. To check the functionality of remote access via the Internet, go to the generated IP address in a browser by connecting a computer or mobile phone to another network (for example, 4G LTE).
Connecting multIPle devices
To connect two or more IP cameras to the recorder, you need to use another element of the network, called a switch. It can be used to make the nodal decoupling of gadgets connected via a LAN port. As such a solution, you can use a switch with 4, 8 or more outputs. For example, TP-LINK TL-SF1008D switch with 8 outputs. Diagram of connecting an IP camera to a DVR through a switch:
- Patch-cord connect the LAN port of the recorder and the port under No. 1 of the switch.
- The rest of the cables from the cameras Connect the switch to the free ports. Then they will set up for each of the cameras, tied it to a specific channel.
- Done, you can expose cameras to their places of permanent residence.
The switch serves as a splitter of network devices, which helps the recorder to communicate with all connected IP cameras via network protocols. The recorder receives a signal, displays it on the screen and, if there is a hard disk, can record the broadcast into memory.
In this way, you can connect all the equIPment in order to access them only within the local network, that is, being behind the recorder. Remote access via the Internet is implemented according to a different scheme.
Single camera connection
How to connect IP camera to hybrid recorder:
- Connect the camera through a splitter with a power supply to the 220 V network.
- Then connect it to the Internet with an RJ-45 cable through a splitter.
- Connect the opposite end to the LAN port of the recorder.
- In general, that’s all. This is followed by configuration via the connected device.
Customization
To configure, you need to do the following:
- Turn on the recorder and through the image displayed on the monitor, right-click on the black square with the mark A plus. Please select Main menu.
- Here you need to log in to then pull up the device into channel mode. If a hybrid recorder is used, it has a channel breakdown. In the device only for IP cameras, this separation will not be.
- Go to Settings and set the camera to LAN mode. Click OK.
- Then left-click on the plus and the search will find a connected device with its network data in the form of IP, port and MAC address.
- By double clicking on a device in the list, you will move the camera to the bottom field, where you can configure it.
- Check the box in front of the gadget and implement the bundle. Then you can go to the main menu, where one camera will be saved, and a picture will be broadcast from it.
- Conventional recorders have 16 channels for Pull-up display devices. In general, this can be seen by the number of black squares.
- At the same time, they can be displayed on the screen all together.
- But since the DVR has only one LAN port, additional devices can be connected through switches.
Pairing and working with the cloud
If the registrar supports P2P technology, you can implement a connection with cloud storage. The princIPle of operation is constant support of communication with a remote server. The server has software that allows you to create a pairing with the system at any time, watch live feeds from cameras online through convenient client programs or applications for mobile phones, work with the archive.
To configure this you need:
- So that the registrar has access to the Internet (provided by a router).
- In the supported Cloud technology registrar open the Corresponding section in the settings.
- Put opposite P2P or Cloud a tick so that the equIPment will connect to the service.
- If necessary, register an account and link the registrar to the clouds.
- Install the appropriate software on your smartphone, tablet or PC for remote access to cloud and recorder functions.
Popular cloud surveillance services are:
- Ivideon.
- Workvideo.
- Webglazok.
- IPEYE.
Parameters are changed through the web interface of the camera paired with a computer.
