In my examples, as well as almost always, RVi video surveillance is used (I will definitely post descriptions of settings from other manufacturers, until it is possible), but in any case, the principle is the same everywhere, it differs only in the beauty and functionality of the web interface for controlling the DVR or cameras. Here the IP video recorder RVi-IPN4 / 1 is used, it is a 4-channel, that is, a maximum of 4 cameras and IPC43S, KW-100A cameras can be connected to it. When buying, he has a static IP address 192.168.1.108 registered, connected it to the monitor and set it to automatically receive an IP address (DHCP) from the router. Now in the monitor we see its new IP address. Then I reserved the IP address on the router in the DHCP server settings. In my case, the DVR received an IP address of 192.168.0.11. Now open the Internet Explorer browser and enter the IP address of the DVR. At the first login, the browser will offer to download and install the add-on. download and install. CONNECTING THE IP CAMERA TO A COMPUTER

By connecting the IP video camera to the PC directly through the network card and entering its default IP address in the address bar of the browser, we will not receive images or access to the WEB interface. The fact is that both devices are in different address ranges.

You must first (temporarily) change the IP address of the computer to get into the internal program of the camcorder (How to do this is described above).

We find an IP video camera using a regular browser or a special program. For example, for Hikvision, this is the SADP program, which is downloaded from the company’s official website. It is more convenient to work with the program if there are several IP video cameras of the same manufacturer in the network.

Cameras can also be connected through a switch (switch). In this case, the maximum number of IP cameras is limited only by the bandwidth of the cable coming from the switch to the PC. CONNECTING THE IP CAMERA THROUGH A ROUTER

When connecting one or more IP cameras to the router, you must sequentially perform the following steps:

Login to the internal WEB interface of the IP camera. This can be done by entering the IP address of the device in the address bar of any browser. The camera address can be indicated either on the packaging or in the device passport.

First, you need to configure the PC subnet in accordance with the IP address of the camera by following these steps:

  • Enter the static IP address of the PC so that the first two digits match the IP address of the camera.
  • Launch any browser and enter the camera‘s address in the address field. We change the IP addresses of all cameras that will be present in the video surveillance system. As an example, we take the address of the communicator, changing the last digit, write in the line of the IP camera.
  • We save the parameters, disconnect the camera from the PC and connect the device to the LAN port of the router.

Different manufacturers make different settings menus, so you need to study them and find the “Port Forwarding” menu item. In the WAN menu item in the “Virtual server” tab in the list of virtual servers, enter the names and unique static IP addresses of cameras.

If the communicator has a static IP address, you can connect to the first video camera by typing http: // (IP address) 🙁 port number) in the address bar. But more often than not, the provider provides the user with a dynamic address. Therefore, it is necessary to register with the DDNS server. We register as many unique names as there are IP cameras.

You also need to do port forwarding on the router. This is done in the following way. We enter the WEB interface of the switch, find the “Additional settings” tab of the WAN submenu. Go to the DDNS tab. We put the switch on “Enable DDNS Client”. And we indicate the address of the server from which we will receive services (where we registered). This can be the server of the router manufacturer’s company or an outside free resource.

We save the changed parameters. By going to the address registered in the DDNS service, we get access to the image of the camera that has been assigned this unique name (it is assigned in the “Virtual Server” tab).

The advantages of this connection method are the ability to remotely view video information from any device that has Internet access, even without specialized software. The number of connected devices is limited not only by the number of ports, but also by the bandwidth of the router itself and / or the width of the channel provided by the provider.

This limitation can be circumvented by artificially reducing the maximum resolution of cameras and the number of frames per second to a level where the total information flow from all devices will not be approximately 80% of the switch bandwidth.

POWER SUPPLY FOR IP CAMERAS

There are two ways to connect power supply for IP surveillance cameras:

Laying a separate power supply line from an external power source.

Depending on where the CCTV camera is located on the street or indoors, it can consume different amounts of electricity. To provide outdoor cameras, a cable with the parameters of a standard household power supply 220V 50 Hz is often used.

Inside the thermal casing, the adapter distributes the incoming energy for power supply:

  • heating and air conditioning elements;
  • sources of infrared lighting;
  • power drives PTZ system;
  • the IP camera itself.

In this case, it is recommended to use a combo LAN cable ParLan combi U / UTP4 Cat5e. It represents a single cable, under the protective sheath of which there are twisted pair in separate foil protection and two power wires.

Power transmission of the IP video camera is carried out via twisted pair cable simultaneously with the video signal.

For this, both the camera and the router must support PoE technology. The only drawback of this technology is the limitation of the power transmission range to 100 m.To solve this problem, several additional devices can be used:

PoE repeaters are passive devices that extend the Ethernet network segment by transmitting data and power according to the IEEE 802.3af PoE standard in excess of the limited 100 m. Transmission can be carried out via UTP CAT5e / 6 Ethernet cable. Range of additional amplification 100 m.

The classical method of image transmission from an IP video camera is via UPT cable of the fifth category (twisted pair). However, it has one significant drawback, the signal transmission distance does not exceed 100 m.For longer distances, additional switches should be used.

There are hybrid devices that can work with both twisted pair and coaxial wire. They are capable of transmitting a signal at a speed of 100 Mbps. at a distance of 600 m to 1.5 km. For example, active amplifiers of the CooperLin series from the manufacturer ComNet.

And a pair of ST-VBT2 / ST-VBR2 models can extend the transmission distance up to 2 km. For passive devices with the same principle of operation, the transmission range is significantly shorter, it is 90 m at a signal transmission rate of up to 10 Mbit / s. The most expensive way of transmitting video is optical fiber. However, this is the only way to transmit a signal without loss of quality over a distance of tens of kilometers.
